Let me start by saying, the food was genuinely good. I opted for a wrap, and it did not disappoint. The rice, however was stuck together.
However, the positive impression created by the food began to erode almost immediately due to the service, or rather, the distinct lack thereof.
Upon entering, it took an unusually long time to be acknowledged and seated, despite the pub not being particularly busy. Once we finally had a table, the wait for our server to even approach us was extended.
When they did arrive, July's demeanor was rather indifferent, bordering on aloof. Requests for water refills went unfulfilled, and it felt as though we had to actively flag July down for every step of our dining experience – from ordering drinks to placing our food order, and eventually, to receiving the bill.
There was a noticeable absence of the warmth and attentiveness one typically associates with pub hospitality, especially in a charming town like Niagara-on-the-Lake. Interactions felt rushed and impersonal, lacking that friendly, welcoming touch that can elevate a meal from merely good to truly memorable.
It's a genuine shame when excellent food is undermined by poor service.
