I was initially very excited to rent an apartment from Cross Street but encountered repeated delays and unresponsiveness that ultimately forced me to renew my current lease at the last minute.
In December 2024, I toured an apartment at The Irwin with Jackson and loved it. Due to my allergies, I requested to conduct an allergy test before signing the lease. Management assured me that completing the application would hold the unit, so I proceeded. During my tour, I noticed water damage on a new bathroom cabinet. Since mold and water damage are allergy triggers for me, I asked if it could be replaced. I was assured it would be taken care of.
After my application was approved and my allergy test came back clear, I requested a second tour to confirm the repair was completed before signing. Unfortunately, when I visited, the issue had not been addressed. I reiterated that the repair was essential for my health and asked for proof of completion before moving forward.
What followed was a month and a half of me repeatedly following up, with little to no response. In February 2025, a new maintenance manager informed me that they would not hold the apartment without a signed lease and dismissed my concerns, stating that the damage wouldn’t cause health issues—despite my doctor explicitly stating otherwise. This was incredibly concerning.
At this point, I had no choice but to walk away, as they were unwilling to provide a timeline for the repair or guarantee its completion. Even now, over a month later, they have failed to follow through.
Whether this was a case of negligence, poor management, or an unwillingness to accommodate a tenant with medical needs, the experience was deeply frustrating. If you have specific health concerns or require any level of accommodation, I would strongly advise looking elsewhere.
Update: I received an email that the repair was completed not long after I posted this review. It had been 7 days since their last update telling me they were marketing the unit and my lease start date was supposed to be tomorrow.
