We booked this trip last minute—same day availability—and everything came together perfectly. After catching the 5 PM ferry, we arrived at the Island Inn around 6:30 PM. Check-in was a breeze. Our room was bright, spacious, and spotless. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed: pots, pans, utensils, cutlery—even a lobster cracker!||The linens were fresh and possibly brand new, and the beds were comfy. While the internet connection was a bit spotty, it honestly didn’t matter—being on the island made unplugging easy. The property grounds were clean, well-maintained, and inviting.||We stayed in unit 3B, which was conveniently located near everything: parking, laundry facilities, fire pits, built-in grills, corn hole, a playground, tennis courts, and adjacent to Noman’s for late-night entertainment. Our stay was absolutely perfect, and we’ll definitely be returning!

Last minute reservation: great prices for the high season, huge condo and nicely furnished for all needs. Very easy to jump on/off the buses as they go by, or walk into OB. I didn't take photos of the spacious grounds, nice pool and tennis courts. Really is a great find for the price. Would love to stay here again!

Google
The Island Inn is a wonderful place to stay. The location is great, with plenty of parking, steps to the MV bus line, and just minutes away from beaches and Oak Bluffs. The property itself is perfect for everyone (families, couples etc.,) including pets. There are tennis courts, a play ground, outdoor pool, everything you could need. It is maintained very well and is exceptionally clean. The unit we stayed in was perfect for us ( 3 adults and 2 teens), it was spotless, spacious, and well appointed. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We will certainly stay here again.

I realize this is high season on the Vineyard, but unfortunately, the experience at the Island Inn didn't come close to the cost (over $550/night). The construction is poor - which means that you can hear everything beside you and above you (no insulation). The bathroom with a shower had no hooks behind the door nor shelving or hooks above the toilet (both sets of hooks were broken off). Although the grounds are very pretty, there was a cup filled with cigarette butts floating in water and an old stogie left outside our door on the ground, and remnants or someone's cut hair. The cup with cigarette butts sat there for 4 days until grounds keepers trimmed hedges and noticed it (stogie and hair remained). It's great that it's dog friendly, but the unit itself was very dark since. Noman's is next door, which is a great family/dog friendly restaurant with live music (which is pretty loud at night, so buyer beware). If you value sleep and quiet, this isn't the place for you. Each unit is individually owned, but small things, like hooks/shelving in the bathroom and a working coffee maker are things I would expect for the cost of staying here.

We booked 4 Units for my family for a reunion. The rooms are exactly as shown in pictures and a great place to stay for a Vineyard vacation. The staff were great and always willing to help. The Island Inn is convenient to the bike path, free bus loop and within walking distance of Oak Bluffs.

When we arrived, the rooms are very neat and tidy. We stayed there for 4 days and the staff are very accommodating, we had to check in late because of our ferry schedule and they still let us check in. Upon check out, we asked if we can stay for 2 more hours because one of us needs to stay for work, and staff are very nice to allow us without fees. The place is quiet, no complains at night. They are renovating the place during day time due to upcoming summer season but that doesn’t bother us with the stay. Highly recommend ⭐️

Google
We love the Island Inn unit 42G. |The location is picturesque and perfect. Thrilled that it is dog-friendly. There were plush new towels. We have been regulars for well over a decade and will certainly be back. The beach is within walking distance.

This place was absolutely fantastic..the room was awesome with just about everything you could think of.. the grounds are so beautiful and the staff was outstanding, I definitely will be back. I highly recommend this beautiful place.

Yelp
Do yourself a favor and avoid booking this property. Back in January we booked a room for July -2025 at a great rate. It was too good to be true, with the inn informing us that the advertised rate fro 2 weeks prior was a mistake. Actual rate was 75% higher.. Rather than eating their mistake the simply canceled our reservation. The O' L Bait and Switch. Illegal, Unethical and plain Wrong...

Yelp
It was clean enough and was all we really needed for the few nights in MV. There is a pool and there are tennis courts as well! The parking is easy and included. Nomans is an adorable outdoor restaurant on the property that you should def check out!

Yelp
We really enjoyed our stay here. We got a last minute reservation in 16D for about $315 for the night. I was scared by the online reviews I was reading about the unit; it being outdated and dirty, but alas, it was fine if you manage expectations. $315 is a lot, but not in July on Martha's Vineyard, with 10 days out, let's be real. Every other option at this time was $700+ at some fancier hotels. The unit had a little kitchenette, it was clean, dark, air conditioned. It was simple, and yes, not the most stylish or up-to-date, but we spent barely anytime in the room. The Inn itself is great for families. A little playground, tennis courts (although you probably need to make reservations well in advance for a court), a nice pool area, some grills, fire pits and lots of open space. On site, there is a hopping restaurant with a ton of outdoor area, perfect for families. Communication was great, they sent me 3-4 emails leading up to our stay with all the relevant info, and I was able to check-out via text. We'd come again here and definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a simple, family friendly stay that won't cost ya.

Yelp
DO NOT BOOK! Management is non-responsive and they don't follow their own guidelines for cancellation and refunds.

Yelp
There was a key code and the key code was fussy. The air conditioning was not working so it was hard to sleep. You have to come here with your own coffee and snacks because there is not anything near. We payed about 500 a night and had to stay 2 nights.

Yelp
Too expensive for what you get. Room was cramped and all the accommodations were just ok. Obviously, things were never clean on account of the hotel's COVID-19 protocols indicating there would be no cleaning staff available without first giving a 24 hour notice of the request. I gave the request once and felt like it was a giant inconvenience, so I didn't bother again. I don't understand this approach anyways, as patrons are never in the room when the cleaning staff is, and they wear gloves/masks/don't touch their faces/etc. No discounts or courtesies given for the lack of cleaning staff. I can't see myself staying here again, especially if there is a pandemic concern, considering I could book a whole house on the island for the price I paid at Island Inn and clean it myself just like I did here anyways. Staff is pretty incredible here. The tennis pro Kim was a gem. She was incredibly helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, etc. and we didn't even play tennis. She was always out working her butt off and didn't mind to stop for the occasional question/issue/concern. She was so wonderful and hardworking, in fact, that I'm surprised the Island Inn didn't tax her with cleaning rooms too.

Yelp
After two stays at the Island Inn, I can say I'm definitely a fan. Great location, great value. Only about a mile and a half from the Oak Bluffs ferry terminal, Island Inn is super accessible, especially considering the price. I like that it's not right downtown - you can walk, bike or a quick drive - and it's a really beautiful stretch of beach/ocean views along the way. Continue a bit beyond the Inn and you can rent kayaks or jump off the infamous Jaws Bridge. The grounds are really nice and well kept - there's a huge grassy area for kiddos or dogs (bonus: some of the rooms are dog friendly!), a pool, picnic tables, etc. Arguably the best part of Island Inn is the adjacent Nomans Restaurant (new in 2019). We basically lived there throughout our most recent stay. They have a small, but delicious menu and everything tastes really fresh. The quiche hot out of the oven was incredible. The outdoor area is expansive and welcoming to families and dogs, featuring ample seating and lawn/table games. They have live music regularly, as well as events like yoga. (Nomans is basically attached to Island Inn and a huge redeeming quality of the Inn which is why I dedicate so much of this review to it.) If you're looking for an affordable place to stay on Martha's Vineyard, I recommend checking out the Island Inn.

Yelp
This is a really specific review, but if Internet speed is important to you, this is the one you want to read. The WiFi here consistently gave me over 300 Mbps, both upload and download speeds. If you're like me and you're working remotely from MV for a week, the Island Inn will work amazingly well. Otherwise it's a perfect decent 3 star inn. The kitchenette in my room was solid with a spacious fridge. The beds were comfy. The staff was nice, and the location is really convenient to the bigger towns on the island. The restaurant up the street is an easy walk and decent enough food. And the Internet is literally the fastest hotel Internet I've ever experienced. Amazing. I'm here in the off season so maybe it gets more congested in the summer, but still!

Yelp
This place is somewhat of a mixed bag - with both positives and negatives. I recently completed a stay and am on the fence as to whether I'd return. Positives: 1. The location is outstanding with easy access to both Oak Bluffs and Edgartown 2. It's clean and comfortable 3. The staff is friendly - upon check-in, we were informed that the room we reserved was still inexplicably under construction so we were actually upgraded to a bigger room which was nice 4. It's a decent value for the space you get 5. The grounds are well maintained and appealing Negatives: 1. The beds are downright awful and falling apart. I'm sure there are Motel 6's that have more comfortable beds. This had a big impact on the quality of sleep throughout our stay 2. The furniture throughout the unit is really cheap and uncomfortable (chairs, couches, etc.) It's apparent that corners are cut big time 3. The walls are very thin. You can literally hear everything going on in the hallway and adjacent rooms. Don't expect any quiet 4. The bathrooms are so small that it's difficult to get cleaned up comfortably 5. Despite 'No Smoking' signs throughout the property, there was smoking going on by guests throughout the patios and there didn't seem to be much of an effort by management to stop it

Yelp
I've been working with Derek & Richard at the Island Inn for the past year to plan a work conference. They are both super friendly (although, I never got to meet Derek in person!) and very accommodating. In fact, very staff member I met was friendly and helpful. We were able to book the conference center (for no charge!) as well as almost all the guest rooms. Richard did the food for the conference and we had nothing but rave reviews! I was in a 2-floor townhouse, with an awesome spiral staircase and full kitchen. Yes, this place is a bit more "rustic" than what the word "resort" conjures up, but it's not horrible. It's a perfectly pleasant hotel with huge screen TVs in each room (2 in my room!), a pool and tennis courts. It's also just about a 1-mile walk from Oak Bluffs. Great location! I do wish they would re-use the towels that are hung up, rather than putting out new ones every day. There was a water issue during our stay: I couldn't get hot water, until I realized I had to turn the shower knob ALL the way around, and then voila! Hot water. Apparently some other guests (in different buildings) never got hot water; turns out a circuit was either off or broken? It was fixed and they apologized and carefully monitored the situation. If you are looking for a 5-star, luxury resort, then this is not the place for you. But if you're looking for an island hotel with amenities, then look no further! It is the Vineyard after all - that means relax and go with the flow!

Yelp
We came to the Vineyard for a quick weekend getaway. Normally I rent a house when I'm on the island, however, I decided to give the Island Inn a try. Although they describe some of the units as "Townhouses", I would say it's more of a hotel with duplex units. The duplex unit is more loft style with a spiral staircase. The room I stayed in was rather dated (furniture & kitchen). In addition, you can hear people walking in the hallway (I could only imagine the noise level during high season). Lastly, I wasn't a fan of the community deck area just outside of the living room. Again, I could only imagine what's it's like during their busy season. The staff members are very nice and accommodating, and the grounds of this hotel is very lovely but I couldn't imagine myself staying here during a busy time of the year.

Brian W.

Yelp
This place is a a very solid choice. Great location, Nomans bar/restaurant is right down the road. The grounds are nice and the units are a good value for what you get. Great place for a doggo.

Yelp
If you like friendly service and responsive, helpful management, this is not the place for you. As much as I love coming to Martha's Vineyard, I would cancel my plans if the only place to stay was here. I booked my accommodation in Feb for the August season. Arrived at the inn, only to find no elevator access. (not mentioned on website). I was booked into a room on the second level and was expected to climb narrow rickety stairs. When I requested another room because I am unable to climb stairs, instead of offering to help,I was met with a hostile, rude and very unprofessional hotel manager named Carol Brown. (?). Rather than offer to help, she only made things worse. I can only attribute her lack of professionalism to lack of training and ability.

Yelp
I booked about two months in advance of my attempted stay. I asked about checking in at 1PM (check in time is at 3) because my wife and I were planning on taking a 12PM ferry out of Woods Hole. The staff member ensured they could accommodate an early check in of two hours. This prompted me to book and I was told I would receive an emailed confirmation. A week went by and I didn't receive my confirmation. I knew it was peak season and things can be a bit hectic. I called to see if they might have had the wrong email address. Nope they just forgot to send it. A second week went by and I emailed in the morning thinking that this might be a more efficient form of communication. I received an email back stating they were sorry and they would be sending it shortly. I called that afternoon because I had yet to receive my confirmation. Mind you three phone calls and an email just to receive a confirmation of my booking. Apparently three phone calls and an email is the magic number. I called on our way down to the ferry at 10AM to ensure we were still going to access our room at 1PM, two hours earlier than the usual check in time. I was ensured yet again by the manager that "while it isn't guaranteed, we should be able to accommodate you". Ok. Not the most reassuring but I've stayed at a few different places on the Vineyard and all have been able to accommodate a two hour early check in. Upon our arrival we were told the room wasn't ready and they would call us when it was ready. We waited until 2:15. We went back only to be told the floors were "soaked" and the room still wasn't ready. Do yourself a favor and find somewhere else to go before booking. There are plenty of options with much better customer service.

Yelp
I loved the location of the Island inn, situated less than 1/2 mile from the center of Oak Bluffs and walking distance to near by beaches. The Inn is perfectly located to experience both Oak Bluffs and Edgartown while providing way access to transit to get you to all of the best places on the island. I would definitely return.

Yelp
I stayed here in the autumn, so I can't comment on the tennis courts or swimming pool. However, it served my needs: a quiet place near the water, with a kitchenette and enough space to work. The condo filled those requirements. Pros: very friendly staff and extra refrigerator in the kitchen. 2 TVs with local cable and a DVD player. Good WiFi coverage. Cons: to access the second bathroom with the shower, you have to walk through the kitchenette. Just bad feng shui. Furnishings and fixtures are definitely on the worn side. No elevator, which may be a concern, especially when it rains. If there were someplace close by (i.e., walking) that had a convenience store, that would be better. But hey, it's the Vineyard.

Yelp
Tired old complex on outskirts of OB, next to golf course. We had an "upgraded room" which meant that we had a 2nd floor with decent sized king bedroom and 1/2 bath up a spiral staircase. Main floor had the living room, kitchen, bedroom with 2 twin beds and bathroom. Kitchen was ok, with full sized fridge. Outdoor balcony. Bath fixtures and decor were very low end. TV's in main living room and upstairs were small very old tube TV's although they did have decent cable package and also free wifi. Overall room amenities were like a Holiday Inn from 1960. Housekeeping provided new towels every day and made the bed but did not change sheets or clean the bathrooms. Small pool with cold water. No towels by pool. Could be worse I guess but not someplace I'd stay in if there were other choices.

Yelp
Best place to stay at the Vineyard- hands down! We had a girls only weekend with our little dogs planned for my li'l guy's 5th bday. The weekend we had planned for ended up being when the city of Boston was in a lockdown due to the tragic Boston Marathon bombing. We were all shook up pretty bad especially I who was volunteering at the finish line. A special thanks to Derek Tipton who was extremely accommodating, understanding of the circumstances and helpful in rebooking us to a later weekend without any additional charges. We stayed in a townhouse that was very spacious, well-equipped with everything we and the dogs needed and the staff was super friendly. Definitely coming back!

Yelp
I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Island inn. I must say I enjoyed my stay. It's quiet and peaceful at the island inn. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. I only have two minor complaints. The fist is, they had a coffee maker but no coffee. The second complaint is the vending machines. One machine did not work and the other was sold out. It may not be the most lavish place to stay but it meets my needs. It has all the amenities that lodging should have. As for location, it's not far from oak bluffs and the beach where they filmed the movie Jaws. On the main road there is a nice path for jogging, walking and biking. One way goes to Oak Bluffs and the other way goes to the beach. The perfect place to be if you ask me. Would I stay here again? Absolutely.

Christina H.

Yelp
Everything was great and rooms are clean. Place is really enjoyable and perfect for low key couples or family's. Front desk staff could be more helpful, timely and overall personify a better work ethic and interest in the guests. Other than that, I really recommend this place.

Mary W.

Yelp
Mediocre. Location is great. The rooms are standard but nothing special. No concierge. Grounds are nice, includes pool and tennis courts. But the tennis pro is unprofessional. Do not recommend.

Yelp
Unfortunately, my week-long stay was terrible. I would not visit again and certainly cannot recommend the Island Inn to anyone with disability or mobility issues. One handicapped parking spot, no ramps, no elevator, shoddy wood railings and slippery wood decking. Accessibility is so poor, I doubt they're in compliance with minimum ADA requirements. Point in case, a number of the wood railings are in such terrible condition, I received a large splinter that subsequently became infected and required an ER visit. Management was remarkably unresponsive and brushed off my injury and the incident. No insurance information was forthcoming. Not even an offer to compensate for out-of-pocket medical expenses. Poor handicapped accessibility, shoddy conditions and indifferent management marred (or should I say scarred) what would have been an engaging week. Shame.

Yelp
Booked reservation late for prime season, so I wasn't sure what to expect when there was availability. We were pleasantly surprised upon arrival. Our townhouse style (unit 50G) was clean and comfortable. There were a few issues with a broken window and refrigerator, but maintenance arrived immediately to remedy these things. Furniture was a little dated, but perfectly acceptable. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare our good for an outdoor barbeque and we were provided a bag of charcoal to use in outdoor grills. Someone in our party compared the stay to "Glamping" and I'd say that was accurate! We'd stay again

Christina M.

Yelp
We travled over to the Vinyard with our car for a few days to celebrate out daughters first birthday! We had our small dog Odin with us an needed a place that allowed pets. So we choose the Island Inn !Everything from our early checkin, the nice employees, spotless room and wonderful amenities they had to offer this was one of our most memorable trips yet! Very affordable prices, the pool and grounds were private.Way to go Island Inn! Such a hidden gem!

Yelp
Below is a letter I just sent to the Island Inn in response to their email seeking input. The email I am sending to them (using the reply function) keeps getting returned so I'll just post it here. As an FYI/background to Yelp users: We stayed in room #51. It is a 2BR townhouse. It has two twin beds in one bedroom, a sleep sofa in the living room and a king bed in the loft master. A word of caution, the king master is accessed via a spiral staircase. It is not at all elder or kid friendly. This upper room is also open to the hall/front door and would not be safe for small pets or children. There is only a balcony, no walls. I wouldn't want a child under the age of 7 or 8 up there. My 70 year old mother also found the climb challenging. Below is the email I just sent: Hello Island Inn I filled out a comment card and left it in my room (#51) when we left on Thursday 7/23. I hope you received it. If so, this will be somewhat repetitive. I will summarize: First of all, the front desk and maintenance were very responsive. While maintenance can be a bit gruff, I have no real complaints. Unfortunately, this was the highlight. Our room was barely acceptable. The carpet was stained and all of the finishes seemed extremely cheap. When we arrived, our sliding door screen was off its track, rusted and warped so that it didn't close. We tried to fix it ourselves (it was obviously broken the minute we walked in) but it was clearly beyond repair. We called the front desk and they sent maintenance right over. Maintenance had an extra screen door and replaced it in short order. We were surprised that wasn't done before our arrival, since the appearance and function was clearly not acceptable. No pride in your place??? This lack of pride/care pretty much overshadowed our experience. The sleep sofa in that unit is completely unusable. They are rarely comfortable, but this one was horrid. We ended up on leaky air mattresses, which were sadly better than the sleep sofa. The king bed wasn't much better. The mattress is so uncomfortable. Even a 15 year old girl commented her back hurt. And this was compared to leaky air mattresses. The twin bed mattresses didn't seem much better, but I didn't personally try those beds so I can't say. The twin bedroom has no air. The two air conditioner units were barely able to cool the main areas but the twin bedroom only had a small vent located near the front door and that was subpar. I couldn't get the window to work right, although I did give up trying. That room had dead air all week. The wallpaper on the upstairs bathroom walls was gross. You could see stains and marks. The faucets were leaky, cheap and seemed old. The shower experience was another ordeal. At times, it took FIFTEEN minutes to get hot water. That's not an exaggeration. I experienced it myself. I ended up taking a cool shower because I didn't want to wait any longer and I hated to waste so much water. The water pressure barely rinsed my hair. I had to crouch down and rinse under the tub tap to get my hair rinsed. We had hoped to use the swimming pool but it didn't seem very clean, and when we saw a dog in it, we were completely turned off. Generally speaking, I cannot recommend this hotel based on our experience. We come to the Vineyard every year and this was our first time not renting a cottage. We had hoped this option would work, but after seeing the finishes, trying to sleep on those beds and getting used to stained carpets and walls, we sadly can't do it. We have many relatives and friends on the island who were quite interested to hear our experience. It was disappointing to have to give the accommodations a thumbs down. We aren't prima donna's either. We often rent "gingerbread" cottages, which are old and imperfect. So we do not expect a four star facility. But well kept, clean and quality products go a long way. Sadly, the Island Inn fell short. I am offering this criticism in hopes that you will be interested in resolving these issues. Most are not insurmountable. The grounds of your property are lovely and clearly you are sitting on a gold mine so it would make sense. Thank you. Paige D 7/20-7/23/15 Room 51

Yelp
Its located in a somewhat more remote location in OB - about 2 miles out of the downtown area where the steamboat comes in. Even though there is no official bus stop, the bus can stop by the inn on the way to edgartown. I don't want to be too harsh, but the bed I had in my suite was absolutely the worst one i have ever had - the mattress squeaks and the head board rocks without me having to move more than an inch, and the pillows so flat that they are like 20 years old; the bathroom didnt have a ventillation system so the tile floor is always wet; the door still uses the old school keys and do not lock on closing; the a/c can only do "cooling" or "heating", which means you either freeze or get cooked when you leave it on at night; the office ran out of drinking water one of the days; the tennis court is packed with senior citizens at like 6am everyday; there is no "no disturb" card for you to put on the door. the only redeeming thing is that it had standard cable (no HBO or any on-demand)... and that all rooms come with full kitchen - fridge, microwave, oven, sink, dish detergent (very very watered down), pots /pans, utensils... even a drying rack from walmart! As bad as it is... I still gave it 2 stars because its on an island and you just can't expect too much.

Yelp
Deceitful cancellation policy. We had booked a room for a weekend in April for the following month in May. Reservation person said the place was full from a function but had one room left. Due to unexpected issue we needed to cancel reservations two days before May check-in date. We were told that we would not be refunded our $496.76 nor any part of it. Talked to a few people and were flat out told that policy dictates refunds would only be issued within 24 hours of making the reservation NOT up to 24 hours prior like most reputable establishments. The Manager Jared told me the reservation would remain open despite our wish to cancel. Most places have no problem refunding within 24 hours. I have never run into an issue like this however I should have been cautious when they demanded to charge me full cost instead of down payment when we booked. Shame on The Island Inn for their devious policy and unfairness. John F.

Yelp
Great location - close to Oak Bluffs and great facilities (i.e. tennis, pool, playground etc.). The rooms are cute (small) and functional with everything you need and cold air con. Great place for dogs to run around. Only issue was the bed - the mattress was pretty terrible and sunk in at the middle. In sum, good place to stay with kids/dog that is functional, affordable and fun.

Yelp
When i saw it at first i was mad beacause it looked like a regular old house, but the service is good. There was a lot of partying when i was there, hardly slept. I like the office very friendly people.
