"Why book? Though a no-frills mantra reigns supreme in Florida’s laid-back Middle Keys, the Islands of Islamorada resort presents a welcomed, luxe alternative within the island chain. Comprising 22, triple-story, stand-alone villas and 8 ocean suites, this secluded, gleaming white enclave is idyllic for stylish, multi-generational vacations. Clever design allows for prolific outdoor space among each villa while light seaside chic interiors complement endless views of ocean blues and surrounding coconut forests. Two swimming pools, a private beach, marina, state-of-the-art fitness center, and pickleball courts further enhance this self-contained campus of leisure and luxury. Set the scene Off the Old Highway at Mile marker 82.7 lies the gated resort community of Islands of Islamorada. The first thing that strikes after driving past the entrance fountain is the resort’s gleaming white appearance–evidenced across all 22 free-standing villas, the Ocean House, and the common areas. Next is the beautiful landscaping as mature coconut palms abound and bougainvillea drape villa walls. Through the foliage emerges the sight of the Atlantic Ocean and the community’s private swath for accessing it. The backstory After years of construction on a barren lot, the resort debuted quietly in March 2020 but had to shut down a week later due to the pandemic. The Keys reopened a few months later, and the Islands of Islamorada quickly became a secret hideaway for those in the know, promoted solely by word of mouth. Four years later, we’re finally letting you in on our little secret. The rooms Twenty-two, nearly identical, all-white villas constitute the majority of the resort’s inventory. Each measures a whopping 4,067 square feet over three stories of indoor-outdoor space, starting with a two-car garage and covered patio and terrace at ground level. On the other two stories, find three king bedrooms with en-suite baths, a bunk room or twin room with bath, a full kitchen, laundry room, two waterfront balconies, and a powder room. (Eleven of the units have stairs connecting the three floors while the other half has both stairs and an elevator.) Understated units offer just the right combinations of light wood and white furnishings (with pops of color via soft goods), creating a residential sense of place without overpowering the surrounding natural splendor. They’re simple but tastefully done, exuding a timeless beach house aesthetic. The villas are typically occupied by a single multi-generational family, families traveling together, or couples traveling as a group. (Note: Several villas are also dog-friendly so your pup doesn’t have to miss out on the Keys’ fun!) For individuals, couples traveling solo, or smaller families, the Islands of Islamorada also offers eight individual Ocean Suites in its Ocean House. Each suite is 656 square feet with a king bed and queen pull-out sofa and adorned in a similar, minimalist beach house design to the villas. Food and drink There is no full-service restaurant at the resort but a smaller facility that provides lunch and breakfast, Thursday to Monday from 8am to 3pm. Food is ordered via an Ipad and delivered to your unit or your pool or beach chair. Recent highlights from the lunch menu included Key West shrimp cocktail and the smoked fish dip. A bar serving wine, beer, and sake is open in the afternoon around one of the two swimming pools. Most guests choose to have their villas pre-stocked with groceries and booze, a service offered by the Islands of Islamorada with 48 hours notice. (If you don’t pre-stock, don’t fret: A Publix grocery store is just down the road.) A full kitchen means cooking dinner is always an option, but it’s hard to resist great local restaurants like Chef Michael’s. Less than a mile away, Michael’s is arguably the best restaurant in the entire Florida Keys, as Chef uses local and seasonal seafood as a blank canvas for gastronomic ingenuity. The spa There’s no spa on-site, but the concierge can arrange in room treatments. There is a state-of-the-art fitness center, however, with plenty of cardio and weight training machines plus free weights. The neighborhood/area Halfway between Miami and Key West, Islamorada is best known for its fishing and boating culture. The proclaimed “Sportfishing Capital of the World'' has attracted anglers for decades as well as families looking to enjoy the region’s placid waters at its surfeit of unpretentious resorts. But as Islamorada has grown in popularity, so has its price tag–even at no-frills places. Now, with the arrival of the Islands of Islamorada, the region finally has a property worthy of its price point. The service Service is excellent but non-intrusive. Staff respect your privacy but are always available through the villa/unit iPad or by phone. If you’re roaming the grounds, they’ll check on you to make you have everything you need. For families The villas were built with families in mind, so it’s no surprise that they’re a perfect fit for upscale, family-friendly travel. The grounds, too, offer everything a family could need for days of fun-in-the-sun. Besides the two swimming pools, there are non-motorized watersports on-site, including Hobie Cats, kayaks, and stand up paddle boards plus a marina for embarking on snorkeling and fishing excursions. Back on firm ground, discover countless nooks for relaxing and hanging out, including two waterfront fire pits plus multiple waterfront swings. Eco effort A partnership with Reef Environmental Education Foundation (REEF) allows guests to participate in conservation-minded discovery programs and even learn more about the Keys’ underwater world through free online resources. Accessibility One ocean suite and Villa #11 are wheelchair accessible. In addition, the path connecting the units to the common areas is also accessible. Anything left to mention? Those traveling with their own small watercraft do not need to pay for a slip at the on-site marina. However, due to its size and shallow location, boats must be under 32 feet long with a draft less than 2 feet." - Paul Rubio

This place is absolutely perfect! This is probably the best resort we've ever been too. The grounds had everything with fantastic location and everything was extremely clean and well maintained. The service was outstanding from the front desk to the workers on the beach that carved up coconuts to drink or set up kayaks to get in the water with. We went with our 2 toddlers (2 and 3 years old). It was the perfect vacation w them. They had beach toys ready to go, 2 playgrounds, and lawn games to play with. Often times it felt like we had the whole resort to ourselves. The 1 bedroom Villa was spacious, extremely clean, 2 TVs, refrigerator, robes, and a beautiful balcony overlooking the ocean!

Wonderful family vacation at the Islands of Islamorada. The villa was gorgeous and perfect for our needs. The view was beautiful and the grounds were meticulously maintained. We enjoyed relaxing on the property, hitting biodegradable golf balls off the pier, taking in the beautiful sunrises, and morning yoga on the Friday of our stay. Staff was very helpful and responsive. Highly recommend!

Had the most gorgeous stay at The Islands of Islamorada! The villas are impeccably clean and well decorated. Beautiful views of the sunrise and well-kept grounds. There's a bunch of games and activities to do. Perfectly sized resort where you feel like you are on your own private vacation but there's still some activity going on around you. Will definitely be back!

My husband and I stayed here to celebrate his birthday. It was a very costly stay and things were wrong the entire time. The lock on our door was broken almost the whole time, leaving us locked in our room. They tried to fix it twice, but it was never right. The resort really does not provide any food. There is a small food service from 9-5, that does not begin at 9 and certainly ends before 5. We ordered food at 4:15 one day, the hamburger we received was completely raw, when we sent it back, the food people were already gone, therefore we were stuck with no dinner. The worst experience we had however, was basically being kicked out of the hotel. Before our visit we extended our stay to a 5th night, which is a lot considering the cost per night. On this last day, we were in a boat in the ocean when the resort calls to state that we left things in our room and should they mail it to us (huh??) we explained that we were not checking out, we had extended our stay. They proceeded to tell us that maids must clean the room instantly for new people and the maids will collect all our things. I would like to state that spring break had ended and it was noticeable how empty the resort was. The bartender even told us how most people left and the resort would be very quiet. Which made the rude behavior of kicking us out even stranger. Obviously, we had to end our day on the boat, return it and get back as quick as possible. As we had arrived back to the marina to return our boat, quite upset about our day being ruined, we get a call stating that if we would like to keep our room, we can. After being locked out/in our room, terrible food service, the inability to even get ice on our own, and now the rude behavior to us on the phone, essentially kicking us out and ruining our day and trip, not to mention, they clearly did not want another $1100 for the night, we left!. I would love to recommend the place because it is pretty, but it is not worth the excessive cost per night, especially with all the problems and rude behavior from management. A real shame.

Five-Star Review: Islands of Islamorada The Islands of Islamorada is a true gem nestled in the heart of the Florida Keys. As a real estate agent, I had the privilege of touring this stunning property with a client, and I was thoroughly impressed with every aspect of this exclusive, gated resort community. Located just off the Old Highway at Mile Marker 82.7, this enclave perfectly combines luxury, privacy, and investment potential. The gleaming white architecture of the 22 stand-alone villas and Ocean House suites is a striking contrast against the lush landscaping of mature coconut palms and vibrant bougainvillea. The serene Atlantic Ocean views and the private beach access make this a paradise for those seeking both relaxation and adventure. Each villa is thoughtfully designed to maximize outdoor space while maintaining privacy, making it ideal for multi-generational vacations or high-end rentals. The interiors exude seaside chic elegance, with light-filled spaces that perfectly frame the surrounding ocean blues and coconut forests. As a Realtor specializing in real estate in Islamorada, I was particularly impressed by the variety of amenities this property offers. Two sparkling swimming pools, a private marina, state-of-the-art fitness center, and pickleball courts cater to every lifestyle need, while the community’s private beach offers a rare retreat. For those considering an investment, the villas start at $4,950,000 and are eligible for vacation rentals, making this an excellent opportunity for generating income in a highly desirable location. The combination of luxury, location, and functionality truly sets this property apart. This is truly a five-star property for anyone seeking the perfect blend of leisure, luxury, and investment potential!

What a beautiful, tranquil retreat! The resort and service were top notch, and all the staff we encountered were super friendly and helpful. We would stay here again in a heartbeat! It was perfect for a relaxing, luxurious, peaceful vacation spot.

Yelp
As I think with all the "resort" type places on Islamorada you really don't even know they are there driving down US-1. This is especially true for this place as its entrance isn't even on the highway. Coming through the gates you enter your own special quiet world. I had the pleasure of staying in one of the villas and outside of the stairs just to get off the ground floor, and never mind to your bedroom, the place was gorgeous. (Yes, I know this is Florida, it is the coast, and you don't want to have living space on the ground floors) Otherwise, everything was quiet in November. Few people at the pools, almost no one at the beach, and even fewer at the bar. The bar doesn't serve hard liquor (since it doesn't have that kind of license), but it has a good selection of other drinks and some interesting mixes to get around the limitations -- like a sake piña colada. Only staying for a few days and looking for more quiet than adventure I did not take advantage of any water sports or other activities. The "beach" here is okay, but it is the Keys. I don't think you are coming here for world-class beach access.

Yelp
I'll be completely honest, they comped our stay while we filmed an episode of my TV show. But that has nothing to do with the 5 Star review. This place is awesome. I have never found a more upscale, private resort in the keys. The private beach is perfect. Rooms are beautiful. The sunrise breathtaking. I don't think I would change a thing. I even enjoyed the fact that there's no restaurant on site because we ate out every day and got to experience all the different restaurants. I stayed here with Warren Sapp and other guests were very polite and left us alone. Pickle ball courts. Fireplaces. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Islamorada and I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
My wife, dog, and I just left a five day stay at the Islands and it was probably one of the nicest and most relaxing stays we've had at a resort in a while. This place is amazing and our whole experience was so great. Customer service was incredible as they were able to accommodate all our needs - they even lent us some cutlery to bbq some chicken for our pup as our pup was homesick and the chicken cheered her up. The staff was always friendly, attentive and helpful. We stayed in a suite in the Ocean House - it was gorgeous, spotlessly clean, and so relaxing. Great working AC as well! The private beach was great, the pools, fitness center.....all of the other guests were really nice and respectful as well. No loud parties or anything to keep you up. We will definitely be back. If you're looking for a luxury resort in the Keys to relax - Islands is the spot!!

Yelp
Contacted resort on 6/26/21 to inquire about the pet policy and was greeted by a rude receptionist. She neglected to respond to my question about pet restrictions, but continually alluded to irrelevant information. Upon requesting to speak to a supervisor, she hung up on me. Your customer service does not befit your upscale property.
