"What was your first impression? There's nothing staid or traditional about The Ivey's, a boutique hotel with stylish decor that isn't found anywhere else in Charlotte. Even check-in strays from the norm: Settle in to a teal velvet chair as you're welcomed into this appealing home-away-from-home. What's the backstory? The hotel, which occupies the building that once housed The Ivey's Department Store, is privately owned by the two brothers who also own The Marlin in Miami. Chic and sexy, it’s by far the coolest spot in town.  How are the rooms?Rooms are sexy, swanky, sophisticated, and exceedingly comfortable with state-of-the-art technology. Balcony rooms can't be beat. You'll want everything you see—and some of it is actually for sale downstairs, especially those funky clocks. Is there a charge for Wi-Fi—and is the quality good? The Wi-Fi is free and fast. Tell us about the food and drink.Sophia's Lounge is a drop-dead-gorgeous bar with a grand staircase that also provides breakfast and room service. What's the neighborhood like? The hotel is located directly across from the Blumenthal Center and within walking distance of everything else in Uptown. Is there anything you'd change? Not a thing. Anything else we should know? The fitness center is well-stocked for a hotel gym with treadmills, ellipticals, free weights, and a dedicated yoga/floor exercises space.   Bottom line: Worth it? Why?Absolutely—this is a high-style experience." - Nancy DePalma

Our stay at the Ivy Hotel was amazing. We were impressed with the decor and location. It's a luxury hotel, and it was affordable since this hotel is partnered with Stash Hotel Rewards. I would recommend both. Be aware that the gratuity for room service will be included in your bill. I paid cash without knowing this. My issue was addressed and resolved.

We've stayed at the hotel before and had a lovely time. It's beautiful, classy and in the heart of downtown. But we keep coming back for the real hidden gem: Sofia's Lounge. Last night we had the pleasure of being served at the bar by two master craftsmen, Anthony and Branson. Always open to suggestions and never annoyed by questions, these guys were great. We'll be back!

I don't often make time for a staycation, but I couldn't resist booking a stay at The Ivey's Hotel in Charlotte. Navigating traffic in Uptown is always a little stressful, but as soon as I stepped inside, I could feel my shoulders relax. Check-in was a breeze, and soon we were heading upstairs to our room (note: the elevator was out of service at my visit, so you may need to ask about accommodations). Space in any large city is a hot commodity, and I honestly couldn't believe the size of our room. It was incredibly spacious with plenty of room to breathe, even though it was fully furnished with a plush King bed, seating area, wet bar, work station, and more. And the bathroom—I wished I could carve it out and take it home with me. But the best thing about our room may have been the balcony. It was such a treat to step outside and feel the energy of the city I'm proud to call home. You can leave the hotel if you want—you're right in the heart of everything, after all—but there really isn't a reason to. Sophia's Lounge is connected to the hotel, and it offers delicious cocktails and small plates. Our server Jordan helped guide us through the tempting menu, and we landed on a perfect mix of bites and sips for the evening (don't forget your free glass of wine during guest happy hour—Anthony made sure our pours were generous!). In the morning, you can order room service from a European-inspired menu. Breakfast in bed is the best way to end a hotel stay without getting the end-of-vacation blues. If you're looking for a luxurious and local stay in Uptown, I highly recommend a stay at The Ivey's. Thanks to Madison and Marissa for making sure we enjoyed a stay to remember!

Beautiful boutique hotel perfect for celebrating something special. The cocktails at the lounge are delicious and the gym is awesome. It’s got the best personal mini bar in each room and everything you need for a comfy stay in each room. I couldn’t find a water machine so bring your own water if you drink a ton like I do. It’s an absolutely fabulous boutique hotel.

The hotel is very trendy and clean. The staff is awesome. Amber at the front desk is outstanding! The valet service is quick and professional. We needed a place to crash and recharge after a 10 hour drive. The Iveys did the job.

Google
A horrible location on a busy street gave the valet cash tips and was charged tips on my credit card too ($40 parking per night + $13 tips) The room was smaller than the online photos made it appear, but it was a very nice and clean room nonetheless, I enjoyed the expensive in-room wet bar and the well-appointed bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were not as flat as in other 4-star hotels I've stayed at. The in-hotel restaurant, Sophia's Lounge was nice and worth a try. The pork belly and scallops were worth a try (the pork belly the scallops not so much) All in all, I would stay there again, with some experience-based adjustments.

This place is gorgeous! The rooms are amazing, they really went all out to make it special. The fridge and snacks are loaded, and room service is a breeze! Everyone was super helpful and friendly, we felt so welcome, it's got such a cool vibe. You should stay here, you'll see what I mean. Uptown Charlotte is awesome, you won't be bored. We booked it for the GNX Tour and my wife's birthday, but we'll definitely be back just for a getaway. Thanks to everyone who made it so great!

On March 23rd, my family and I stayed one night at The Ivey’s Hotel. Upon arrival we were very happy with the service and how beautiful the hotel was. Everything was very clean and we were happy to be there. During the night I was woken by a loud, clanging pipe noise and then the running of our toilet. It happened over and over throughout the night, which evidently left me with little sleep. In the morning I went into the restroom to check out the situation and I could see a brown line in the toilet from the running water, so I knew this is not a new issue. This means that the hotel put us in that room when they were aware of the broken toilet. Then when my family checked out, they informed us that the valet was not there and we would have to take the employee elevator down to the garage. Once the employee put us in the elevator, we couldn’t get out. The elevator would move between floors but it would not open. I was stuck on the elevator with my husband and two young children. Eventually the doors opened back to the main floor. The employee then informed us that we needed her key card which is why we got stuck. Once again, a situation that could have been prevented. After a nine hour drive we reached home but realized my son left his stuffed animal dog at the hotel. I called and left a message telling them about the situation and asking for them to return my call. I understand that this is just a toy, but they never called me back. I left a review on Trip Advisory about this experience. The hotel replied to my review and stated that the situation had been taken care of and that I found the dog. This reply from the hotel is not true at all. I never found the dog. I called the hotel and spoke to Josh and asked him to have this reply removed since it wasn’t true. Josh said he would have it taken down or corrected, he would check on the dog and call me back. That was four days ago and I’m still waiting for the false information to be removed and for Josh to return my phone call.

Yelp
We're in Paris! Nope. We're actually in Uptown, Charlotte, NC The Ivey's Hotel, a premier five-star boutique experience in Charlotte, NC, is situated in the heart of Uptown. It's a high-design, modern spot with timeless art within a historic building, delivering a very boutique stay. Its steps away from some of Charlotte's esteemed venues, museums and dining spots, with easy access to the city's business and sports districts. There are 47 exquisitely-designed hotel rooms, blending Parisian-style elegance with modern luxury. The Library Lounge offers an intimate space for gathering or enjoying a glass of wine. Favorite hotel in Charlotte!

Yelp
Visited by recommendation of my good friend, Omarre. The bar is extremely nice and the bartenders are super knowledgeable. I enjoyed chatting with them and working through the menu, but the pork belly in the land and sea that I ordered was extremely fatty so I didn't finish the dish. The wide selection of Prosecco was really nice for the guests. Omarre was extremely busy trying to learn tables and assist with room service drink delivery, but he still took the time to greet me. He went over the history of the hotel and walked me through the menu, offering great recommendations based off of feedback from other customers. There wasn't a second where he was ever standing around doing nothing and I can tell he was happy to be apart of the Ivey's team and to continue to learn as his 'training' progressed. I can tell that with time he would've been able to make great changes to this place and the menu. It's unfortunate he was let go the way he was, especially after taking such pride and responsibility for the staff and space, even going as far as to create a new menu. I'm extremely disappointed to hear that he was disregarded and told he was 'disliked by the rest of the staff' and was unhelpful to his coworkers. I had seen the exact opposite of him-- in fact he was extremely attentive, informative, and upbeat. He took direction and asked questions to nearly every staff member around the bar. Letting go of someone instead of giving them chance to correct any behavior is wrong & if that was the case, there should've been communication and conversation to better assist your new employee. Overall, the drinks were exquisite but the food was lackluster and unfair treatment of new staff takes the cake.

Yelp
This venue is PERFECT for a romantic getaway, girls trip or a wedding. I absolutely loved my entire experience, the customer service was exceptional and so was the ambiance. The rooms are very well kept although the water does drain a little slow in the sinks and the toilets have a more square shape than traditional round bowl. The bedding is plush and very comfortable and the room has blackout shades. I ordered breakfast to the room and the chicken sausage was delicious. This hotel provides a luxurious experience without a hefty price tag. It certainly lives up to the boutique experience!

Yelp
Amazing boutique hotel in the center of downtown Charlotte. The converted Ivey's department store has exquisite touches making your stay very special. The location is perfect for experiencing downtown Charlotte as you are just steps away from great restaurants, museums, and theaters. Highly recommend The Ivey's Hotel for a special getaway.

Yelp
Our stay at The Ivey's was one of our most memorable trips to Charlotte yet and really made us feel transported to a charming Parisian escape . The Ivey's decor and atmosphere are breathtakingly beautiful from the time you enter the lobby and are met with the friendliest most warm and welcoming tone and attentiveness from the very professional guest services coordinator, Dazjon. Prior to being able to check in, we observed that while she appeared to be attending to a number of things by herself, including what sounded like someone's grievances with Uber Eats that I'm sure she, nor the Ivey's hotel have any affiliation with or ability to impact, Dazjon seemed extremely accommodating, compassionate, and always seemed to be going above and beyond for each person she greeted. This further extended to the superb recommendations she extended us for dinner, brunch, and various things to do in the area to make our anniversary celebratory weekend one of the best milestones we've shared yet. My husband and I have traveled abroad to enjoy most of our anniversaries, but this year's domestic getaway felt just as exciting and romantic as any trip to paradise previously has, just in a delightful fairytale castle like setting right in the heart of uptown Charlotte, North Carolina. What an unassuming and pleasant surprise and hidden gem. By comparison to a castle, I only mean that Dazjon and all of the staff members we encountered during our 2 night stay here truly made us feel like royalty, as there was no question or request we had that wasn't prioritized and accommodated with a sense of urgency, including but not limited to the candy coated strawberries, sparkling wine, and flowers our balcony suite was adorned with, after our return from a fun day out on the town. The room service we had was speedy and our food was delivered hot and fresh and made perfectly to order. The aromatics throughout the hotel were nice and subtle but this place has the most divine scent from the lobby to the hallways, the stairwell, the gym, and guest rooms. This element of attention to detail also translated to the overall cleanliness of the hotel...EVERYTHING was supremely clean so that even my husband's white gym socks were spotless after strolling around the Ivey's floors in them. There was no dust or grime in sight anywhere which encouraged me to enjoy a hot bubble bath in their beautiful tub and boy did I enjoy my soak in that tub before one of the best night's sleep I've had in months. That bed was such a dream I had a hard time wanting to get out of it and when I finally did, I almost didn't want to leave the hotel. There's just so much to take in with the art, decor, and signage all around this somewhat small but exquisite luxury boutique property that you really could celebrate right on site after grabbing some cocktails and light bites from their in house bar, Sophia's. They have the most amazing and chic library style lounge and a well equipped fitness center that was also pristinely clean and smelled really good. Apparently a night's stay at this place is a little pricey, but I'd call it worth every penny because once we got home I honestly missed the Ivey's and when I let hubby know how much I'd look forward to returning, he surprised me with a signature candle from their gift shop he said Dazjon suggested he pick me up and that gave me all the feels. I'll remember our romantic getaway weekend each time I light that candle and when it starts to burn low, Hubby will know JUST where we need to get back to, LOL.

Yelp
Nicely located hotel in Downtown Charlotte, near theaters, museums and lots of good eateries. Upon arrival all guests must use valet parking (if they arrive via car) and once you enter this boutique hotel you start to get 'the feels'. I mean, it's kinda retro, kinda super modern - at the same time. In some ways it rides a fine line that is more classy than kitschy - lots of attention to detail here, from the lobby/registration area to the room. It's like a cross between movie stalet fantasy (think Audrey Hepburn , Breakfast at Tiffany's) and something subversively (a lil' wink) steampunk-adjacent. At first I was quite impressed by its grandeur and its je ne sais quoi. Then I started to see that the hotel's 'Instagrammable' qualities may in some way outweigh its standards/performance. Don't get me wrong, the place looks great, the staff are friendly and responsive (except for one tall guy in the bar), and the lush/plushness surrounds you like a chenille throw blanket - need I digress..... The two main issues stemmed from the bathtub and the coffee maker, both which were broken to some extent. The bathtub has some kind of mechanism where instructions are clearly marked but a previous guest or cleaning attendant pulled out the stopper and messed it up. We reported it before we went to dinner and it wasn't fixed by the time we returned (about 45 minutes or an hour later) so we had a drink in the bar - so we could wait for the fix to be completed. That's where we were asked if we had a reservation for the bar (?). The gent at the kiosk didn't seem to be empathetic to the situation and made us feel that the Sophia's bar was not part of the hotel. We didn't have reservations, but we are guests at this hotel of 28 rooms - and there is not really any other lounge or waiting area space in the hotel - which is also residences (condos). He asked us to move from two comfy chairs to the upright stools at the bar. Ugh. Mind you, we were exhausted from a six hour drive through the mountains of TN and NC - and all I wanted to do was take a nice bath and go to bed. Well, I will say that TJ, our 'bartendress' was extremely nice and I asked if she would make me her 'specialty' and she did - a lavender martini with bitters, their own syrup, aqua faba - perfect! And we had a shareable cookie dessert. And off we went to the room. They fixed the bath stopper, but unsure if they tested it, because after I drew a bath and finished - when you pull up on the mechanism, it did not drain the water - so I had to pull the metal panel and hold it until all the water drained - that took at least 15 minutes. Unpleasant. But the bath was nice. They use Mistral branded products which are that generic lemon verbena fragrance, pleasant enough. Now to bed....the bed itself: firm but reasonably comfortable. The pillows (one soft, one slightly firmer). The sheets - pristine white and crisp and nicely made. In the morning I went to make a cup of coffee, but the capsule Nescafe type machine did not work, after three tries I gave up...but the hotel did provide breakfast with the room, and though I did not initially order coffee - they brought me up a separate complimentary coffee service which was very welcome. They also provided us with a credit which we used at the bar ($59), and for valet ($40). All in all, aside from those two snafus I think it would have been a near perfect stay.

Yelp
We stayed here as members of the Fine Hotel and Resorts program. The hotel is the first two floors of a residential tower in downtown Charlotte. Growing up in NC I was nostalgic when I saw the Discovery Center just down the street. The hotel is best described as an Instagram dream. There was an issue with the tub and the coffee maker but the hotel did their best to fix those issues in the short time they had. The tub they were able to at least get to hold water though you had to hold the drain up to let the water out. As for the broken coffee maker they sent up a fresh pot of coffee for free. The most important thing though is the bed. It was great. I slept so well in it. The hotel does provide ear plugs for those not used to living in the city and hearing downtown sounds but that wasn't a problem at all. Overall the staff was pleasant and helpful, even with the issues. I'd give them a try again for a good nights sleep.

Yelp
I want to give 5 stars I really do however, we came here for our wedding night and it fell a bit short of our expectations. The place is beautiful! The staff was friendly. We ordered flowers to be set up which was done nicely and we even received complimentary Prosecco. Where it went wrong was the bathroom. The sink did not drain so we called the front desk. They had to come up themselves as we were advised maintenance had gone home for the night. He did something to allow the water that was in there drain but when we went to use it again the same issue occurred. Luckily I had a lil sense to fix it myself. Which I don't think I should have to do in a hotel I'm paying for. I noticed the tub drain was out of place as well a little later but thought it was something simple to just put back. I planned to take a bath in the morning, so in the morning I got up to be able to have time to enjoy a bath before checking out and realized the drain is in fact broken. So that plan was ruined. It's too late to even bother calling maintenance. I'm just disappointed this wasn't brought to anyone's attention before we checked in. The person who cleaned last had to have known however it was brushed over, I really want to try this place again but I'm disappointed with that misstep especially for a special night.

Yelp
Lord have mercy! The Queens Chambers. I need this to my room at home. Wow. Wow. OMG Wow!!!!!!!!! Listen, the only other hotel that has impressed me on this caliber is the Burj al Arab in Dubai, which included a personal butler/concierge. If I had a personal concierge here I would turn into Coco Chanel and be living the hotel life! What's the purchase price? The dream begins in the lobby where you are immediately transported to a time of grand of sumptuous style. Plush velvet chairs, gold belle époque details throughout. Take the elevator at least once. It is small and moves at a snails pace but for us folks who are always on the go, it is your first reminder to take it easy and enjoy the ride. With only two levels for the hotel rooms, it will never be too crowded or noisy. Each room door has a doorbell that can light if house keeping is requested or if you prefer not to be disturbed. No paper door tags here. Even the sound of the door opening is like a present. You guys I am not exaggerating. On the tv screen was the sound of waves lapping the beach. When you enter the room, excuse me your chambers, every detail is accounted for. Two bathrobes, multiple towels, ihome charger/radio, a mini-bar that you only wish you had encountered in your college years, ear buds, extra blankets, they even had a flashlight in the closet. So much more! The carpet, which i rarely walk on without my slippers was plush and smelled nice. Everything was spotless, and I mean everything. My room, 224 faced two restaurants/bars which closed at 2am. I did not find it noisy but keep that in mind if you need silence like the dead. I strongly encourage you to visit Sophia's Lounge which is a part of the hotel. Typically when I think hotel bar I envision drab and boring. Sophia's is not that place darlin'. It is swank, hip classy and cool. Over the 3 nights I popped in, people of all ages enjoyed libations such as Her Majesty, The Empress and Southern Nights. As a hotel guest you are welcome to take your beverage upstairs. One for the road, please! Equally sumptuous decor, the lounge is not to be missed. Hotel staff are friendly and welcoming. The hotel is walking distance to the Harvey B. Gantt and Mint museums, Romare Bearden park is around the corner. C'est classe!! The only place I need to stay at when in Charlotte. J'adore!

Yelp
This is a beautiful hotel in a central location walkable to everything you'd want to do in downtown Charlotte. The staff were absolutely wonderful and always friendly- this goes for front desk staff, valet, and housekeeping. The room was meticulously clean and the bed was very comfortable. When I asked to check out a few minutes later the front desk gave me until 1pm which was very nice. I was there for work and appreciated the fast internet. I was disappointed that they don't have smart TV's at $400 a night, only cable. I was expecting to be able to watch a movie and instead I had to scroll through the channels and see what was playing and try to time it. It seemed weird that they had invested in Bose soundbars but didn't have the ability to stream. I was also a bit disappointed to not have access to a microwave. There was a fridge but it was filled with mini bar items for sale so in order to use it I had to empty half of the items out to make space. But even when storing leftovers I had no way to heat them back up. They had a tablet in the room for guest services but it didn't work. I was unable to press or swipe any of the buttons on the screen. I notified the front desk on my first night but nothing came of it. It's not a big deal but I'd recommend they get rid of them if they are finicky. All in all this was a wonderful getaway.

Yelp
I emailed to inquire about gift cards and received a very luke warm response that included no helpful information - not even a greeting or a signature. Additionally, I was never contacted by the appropriate team/person with an answer to my one very simple question. One star for getting any response at all, I guess. Not the best first impression.

Yelp
We only spent one night at the Ivey's but it was a magical night. Our stay was special from the moment we walked in - we were warmly welcomed in a reception room, not the cold counter as in a typical hotel. After registering, we walked up a curved staircase to our room on the second floor. We opened the door and walked into a luxurious room appointed with crystal lamps, an upholstered bed, plush blankets and an amazingly stocked minibar. There were so many little things that you wouldn't think about until you needed them - an umbrella, flashlight, office supplies. The marble bathroom had a huge tub with a separate shower. There were spa-like amenities including everything you can imagine, even a loofah. There were big fluffy robes to wrap up in after a nice long bath where you could soak in the provided bath salts. We had a quiet breakfast at Sophia's, one of the restaurants at the hotel. Though we didn't make time for a workout, there was a large, fully equipped fitness room. The lobby boutique had a nice selection of upscale goods - I bought a super soft sweater that I can't wait to slide on. The location was fantastic - right in the center of uptown. It made it easy to visit several of the downtown rooftop bars. We found out by accident that our room key got us free admission at the Mint Museum. That was an unexpected bonus. Our reservation included an extended checkout - it was so nice to be able to stretch this little bit of luxury a few hours longer. Upscale hotels are not usually a part of our lifestyle - after last night, I might have to change around a few priorities!

Yelp
I debated on giving this 4 stars instead of 5. Reason I didn't is bc the ENTIRE staff is 100%. Our room was amazing. We booked through Amex FHR, we had no business in Charlotte, it's just close enough for us to explore the perks of the program. When we arrived (2pm), the guest service desk said they had an upgraded room for us ready. Standard King upgraded to Executive King Suite. What a beautiful and super clean room! I didn't like that it was on the 1st floor (only 2 floors available to hotel guests), so it's not a great view but the luxury compensates for it. I loved my hot bath which was supplied with bath salts from the hotel. High end bath products, I think they are called Mistrel. They were very nice. We had drinks at Sophia's the night we stayed. Sophia's is very nice, it's not as fantastic as other reviewers have suggested but it was convenient. We had breakfast at Sophia's which was delicious! I thoroughly liked the breakfast staff more than the night staff. Overall, if you are looking for an upscale stay at a great price, you will enjoy your stay!

Yelp
I am NOT joking this hotel brings it, from the upgrade from having American Express platinum card, to the way the room smells. It so quite the room amazing the sheets crisp and ironed. It's just such an amazing place to stay if you are apartment hunting in the city.

Janet B.

Yelp
The hotel is very pretty. However, twice when I stayed there and had something to eat or drink at their bar restaurant, which is connected to the hotel, I noticed women who waited for men at the bar , had a drink, and then led them up the private staircase which you need a hotel card to get into. A short while later, the lady would be back and wait for a different man, have a drink and repeat. I think you can get the idea. There is know way that the restaurant, bar or hotel does not know what is going on. Hey, if you're O.K with that and it suites you, just remember that some of these ladies may be victims of sex trafficking. Please, do not bring children there. It's no wonder that the hotel is usually empty, people catch on pretty quick.

Jennifer A.

Yelp
Pros: Room was amazing stay was great, unique and had charm, loved the decor and vibe. Cons: -calling the receptionist is delayed or takes forever to hear back - food at the restaurant was horrific avoid at all costs . TIP: Don't book the room with breakfast!! Breakfast is not included even though the post says "with breakfast ". We had this issue and we're lucky refunded, unfortunately it took weeks to get a hold of someone but because I live here I came in person to get help. Overall great stay. I would go again, but next time I'll be sure to avoid the restyle room with restaurant included and before checking out/leaving go over all fees.

Yelp
We splurged on a weekend away and chose the Ivey as our hotel. The experience was wonderful with the exception of a few details that were minor to us, but could be issues for others. Prior to our stay we received several communications from the staff asking about our stay, if we needed recommendations for restaurants, or even other activities they recommended in Charlotte. I let them know then and the morning of our intended stay we would be getting in early, prior to check-in, and was told not a problem and they will try their best to get us into the room early. We valeted the car around 10am, got some food, then checked in at 12. We were told the room isn't ready but that they would ask housekeeping to prioritize it. Should be ready in about two hours and they would call. By 3 we had no call so we came back. Another concierge told us the room would not be ready until normal check-in at 4. Disappointing to get two very different conversations as we might have done different activities if we definitely knew we couldn't get in sooner. The hotel and the room itself were gorgeous. Clean as clean could be. The aesthetic is beautiful, down to the little extras in the rooms and closets. It's absolutely the feel of luxury. We did room service breakfasts and they were delicious each day. Also did drinks at Sophia's lounge one night and it was a fun atmosphere to be able to join at the end of the night. Only real negative was the Saturday night club music outside. We got one of the corner city view rooms and the music was incredibly loud until about 2am. They provided some ear plugs and we pumped up a sound machine app, but that did make Sunday morning a bit rough to wake up to. All in all, our experience was worth the money and then some. Would happily return there again!

Yelp
If you are a woman and solo travel, do not stay at this hotel. I booked this hotel because the dunhill was fully booked. I arrived around 130 pm and my room was not ready. Not an issue. Around 3 pm my room was ready, I was checked in, handed my keys and shown where to go. The 2 gentlemen were fantastic. This is when all the other issues happened. When I got into my room, I had just placed my purse down and a man just walks in my room. He tells me he is here to check the "TV" as I proceeded to ask him why was here now once I checked in and why he felt he could just open my door. He fumbled around and pretended to look at the tv and said okay it's working. Like? I had a dinner planned with a friend out of town and I was running late after the tv fiasco. I locked the door and jumped in the shower. I was putting my clothes on when my door opens again with another man, no name badge, telling me he is with "customer relations." I screamed out of fear and disgust and asked him why he felt the need to just open my door. He stated "I knocked." I have been in the room for less than 2 hours and have had 2 random men open my door. After I slammed the door in his face, I immediately got a call from the front desk. She proceeds to tell me that the room I was in was booked for someone else? And if I could verify who I was... again like WTF. I stated my name and she said oh, yeah that room is for you and that the front did not "properly" check me in. I told her about the incident and she said "oh well we needed to see who was in the room." No omg how can we make this right. So are you telling me you have squatters or people who are able to break into the Ivey's hotel rooms without keys? When I returned back to my room my locked my door and put on the do not disturb light to the turn down service trying to open my door. This hotel is lucky that someone has not got maced in the face. I am so tired of crappy service for hotel rooms that cost $400-800/night. Since when has it been appropriate for TWO MEN to randomly open a hotel door to a female guest. Disgusting behavior and I will not be returning nor would I recommend anyone, especially female.

Yelp
Another great find in Charlotte. Good location. Valet parking. Nicely furnished rooms and halls. We had a great stay.

Yelp
CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS! My partner and I stayed there about a month ago to celebrate her birthday. The hotel itself is nice - save for the fact that they obviously spent way more on decorations than they did their beds. Terribly hard and not a good sleep. The main issue we encountered was upon checking out, the valet returned the key fob to our vehicle but it was missing the actual key that lives inside the fob. We contacted the hotel by phone that day to let them know and make arrangements to have it returned. We then emailed their customer service line a video showing where the key would be inside the fob, etc. the very next day. These replacements are not cheap. At no point have we received a response from anyone affiliated with the hotel. I called multiple times and have been told that the valet service is third party and that they would have to speak with that manager for them to contact us. We have not received any communication - by phone or email from anyone affiliated with the valet service or the hotel to follow up and ensure that our issue had been resolved. Every time I have called the front desk employees have attempted to shift blame to the valet service and essentially tell me that it's not their problem but the valet service. I would think that they would want to ensure that issues with their patrons were resolved. No follow up. Essentially being told it's not their problem. I would not recommend staying here.

Yelp
This is easily a 5 star hotel! Best in Charlotte in my opinion. The rooms are top notch. We had the king with a city view. Very spacious for a city hotel. Bathroom had a shower fit for tall people like myself. Also a big tub in the bathroom. Bed was very comfortable. Fully stocked bar and fridge with snacks. Big TV with Bose soundbar. The location of the Iveys is pretty much in the center of Charlotte. Plenty of restaurants and bars in walking distance. Also, a Starbucks a few doors down. There is an awesome cocktail bar on the second floor for guests only. They do a complimentary wine and cheese happy hour on the weekends from 5-7. Each guest gets a glass of wine on the house. We will be staying here again in the near future!

Yelp
We stayed here last November. There is so much within walking distance from this hotel. It's very pretty and each room is different. We stayed in 222 which was wonderful. Friendly staff and very clean. We enjoyed the restaurant/bar in the hotel too! We'll be staying here when we come back to Charlotte!

Yelp
If you ever want to feel like a celebrity for a night, this is your one stop shop to make it happen. A friend and I decided to have a girls night out that included a stay at this stunning property. I made our reservation a number of weeks in advance using a 3rd party site. As such, I am unable to speak to the actual reservation process. I called the morning of to see if we could get an early check in- as it is not until 4pm. They advised they only had a handicap room available at that time. We wanted a traditional room so we opted to wait. Upon arrival I noted that the only parking available was valet. You pull directly in front of the hotel and you will find the valet station. The cost is high as if we are in NY and/or DC. I am pretty sure it was something like $36 a night. Additionally, if you plan to have guests over they must pay a $10 valet charge. After parking I entered the hotel and was a little lost. The front desk area is not your typical hotel front desk set up. It is located directly to your left as you walk through the main doors. It is more reminiscent of a well decorated executive office. After telling the staff we were having a staycation, he provided us with complimentary bath balls! To get to your room you must go up the staircase located in the check-in area. This is where the beauty truly manifests. The hallways feel extremely luxurious, with beautiful lighting fixtures, perfectly manicured carpet, nice art work, and a pleasant aroma. The location of our room was towards the back of the hotel. I had the opportunity to see all of the amenities on my route to the room. There is a decently stocked gym, as well as a library. The library looks like a library you would find in a beautiful home. This is where the evening reception and breakfast take place-- both are complimentary. I also passed the hotel entrance way to the onsite bar. To get to the bar you do have to walk down another staircase . The room-- nothing short of amazing. It makes you feel as if you are in a chic studio condo. There is a hardwood floor hallway, a bathroom with a separate room for the toilet, a desk area, closets, a large window with brick detail. The bedding was appealing and the beds were firm- which is what I desire. Our room included a Nespresso machine that included about 6 capsule ( both expresso and lungo). Snacks and drinks were available for an additional charge- slightly overpriced, but that is to be expected. Things to note: there is a turndown service (offers bottled waters and macaroons from Amelie's). The evening reception included alcoholic drinks, and light snacks such as cheese, crackers and fruit. The complimentary breakfast was satisfying. There were a number of options ranging from items to make a nova- lox, to eggs, oatmeal, and pastries. The drink options for breakfast were also diverse, and included both cold and hot drinks. It is my understanding that breakfast options are from the Five Church restaurant and Amelie's. Overall, If you are a lover of boutique hotels, want a location that is close to everything downtown, appreciate stellar service, and love staying in hotels that look and smell good- you will NOT be disappointed with this option-- just Book it!!

Yelp
What started out as a lovely evening, ended up in absolute inconvenience as both my husband/I were extremely disappointed with our treatment at this hotel. When I arrived, I was greeted wonderfully. The gentleman who checked me in was extremely polite and went above/beyond to ensure our stay was pleasant. When I got to my room, it was beautiful as well (2nd floor balcony) and I would recommend this room to anyone who is visiting - it's worth it! That said, I have nothing else positive to say about our visit here. The valet was completely unprofessional. In my opinion, the valet should go through training on what customer service really is because it I'SNT rushing guests when they park in valet, not offering to get a luggage cart, and especially not opening the door when guests are struggling with their luggage cart. As we were leaving the hotel, the valet had the audacity to arrive at our room, rush us because he was more concerned with guests coming in vs guests leaving, and proceeded with taking our luggage downstairs even after we requested several times that our luggage remains with us until we collected all personal belongings and accompanied our luggage downstairs (we had valuables with us and did not want our luggage being unattended). After the 5th request and chasing him halfway down the hallway, he said he had other guests to tend to - so we, as guests, didn't matter. Then, the valet again, had the audacity to tell me, "I know I didn't help but can you please review me online so that I can receive an incentive?"!!! Sadly, the valet does not understand what true customer service is at this hotel. On a different note, I had to call the hotel 5 times to receive my bill. On 12/10/2023, the female who answered the phone also had the audacity to place my call on a "brief hold" ...NEVER returning even after 11 min. I had to call back and she said a guest came in. I told her I too was a guest and asked why I didn't matter enough to even get back on the call to request that I hold a little longer. Again, this is common sense and basic customer service 101. The hotel is so beautiful and it's quite a shame that the valet and this front desk woman ruined our experience. Please hire staff that cares about its guests and understands what customer service is!

Yelp
This is absolutely amazing in every way. We were able to book through Amex travel using our Amex platinum card and got great benefits. It's part of the Fine Hotels Collection and they currently offer $200 credit refund per year, $30/person for breakfast, and $100 credit toward dinner. Sophia's Lounge is their restaurant and the food is amazing. Early check in was a perk. Our room was ready by 1:30 pm. One issue we had was with the do not disturb button. There's a button you push inside the room that puts a small red light on outside of the room. I was trying to nap and two different people knocked on the door. One brought a free bottle of sparkling wine so that was nice. Around 5 pm my husband had just gotten back from the gym and hadn't locked the deadbolt - another staff member walked in without knocking. He apologized and said he thought the room was unoccupied. After that no one knocked on our door that we're aware of.

Yelp
My wife and I booked a staycation here for our anniversary and brought our five month old boy with us. The amenities and the aesthetics were nice, however we have several complaints about the overall service we received. Before arriving, I called twice and left a message in order to confirm check-in time. No one ever called us back. Upon arrival, the valet was MIA for a solid 20-30 minutes. Not to mention when we tried to call the car around using the posted mobile number to go to dinner, the feature was defective because the attendant never registered our car in the system. When we got to the front desk to check in, we were greeted kindly by a young lady and when I asked for a late checkout, she assured me it would be no problem and told me we were good to check out at 1pm the next day. However, the next morning after a slow breakfast, right after we put our son down for a nap, we received a phone call from the front desk at 10am (the standard checkout time) as a "courtesy call" to bring my car around for our departure. I told the man that we were fine and had a late check out for 1pm. He then told me that it was $100 per hour charge for a late checkout. This detail was never told to me at check in, and when I insisted that we never agreed to being charged for a late check out and we were never told that there was a fee, the man insisted that we must leave and we only had 30 minutes to do so in order to avoid getting charged. When I went to the front desk to complain about the incident as we left (which it takes a lot to get me to that point) we were assured that management would be notified and we would receive a cal from them Monday the following week in order to rectify the incident. Management never called. I tried to call the hotel again to deal with our complaints, still no answer and no call back. If every customer shared the experience we had with this hotel, they would no doubt go out of business. I hope for others' sake that they had better service than we did. Consider booking a different hotel. And if management gets around to reading this, I would appreciate being contacted.

Yelp
What an amazing boutique hotel. Stayed here for business for about a week and the staff, decor, food, rooms, and location all get an A+++. First experience is walking into a very intimate reception area. It didn't look like an office but rather a very nice home office. Patrick was incredibly professional, friendly, and unflappable. Grace in the library is amazing. We got in early so had good conversation and she volunteers to make us a special custom coffee. It was absolutely delicious but her kindness spoke volumes. Miranda is the manager and she tops the chart of amazing characters in this quaint and beautiful hotel. I left behind my diamond ring in the hotel room. I didn't expect to see it ever again. Not only did housekeeping find it, turned it in, and had it locked up in the vault but the office people admitted to having it and returned it to me without incident. How? So many people in that chain of events and everyone was honest. Unimaginable!

Yelp
After airline delays that caused us to miss our connecting flights, my husband, baby and myself needed to find a place to stay for the night in Charlotte before our rebooked flight home very early the next morning. Most area hotels were booked, including the ritz, due to many airline delays and cancellations throughout the country. We felt lucky to find a room at the Ivey's Hotel. Upon entering, I was blown away. The hotel is truly stunning. Both people at the front desk were very personable and I was excited to see our room. We were informed that room we originally booked was overbooked for the night and we were moved to one with a king bed instead of two queens. No big deal. The hotel room was beautiful- the craftsmanship, the decor, the stone in the bathroom. But really, this is where our good experience ended. We ordered room service and the food was cold. We tried phoning the room service number and it just kept ringing and ringing. We tried multiple times. My husband ended up having to bring the food downstairs and asking for it to be made hot. It was fixed and brought back to the room. Overall the food was ok. I didn't think it was anything special. Around 1030pm we heard a lot of noise. We went into the bedroom and to our dismay could hear club music. Coming from the downstairs lounge. Clearly they knew the noise was an issue because we found a pair of ear plugs next to the bed. Now we were suspicious they changed our room because someone else had occupied it before and probably complained. The noise didn't cease until after 2am. There are also a ton of homeless in the area. For something listed as a fine hotel and resort, along with a hefty price tag of $800+ a night, I'd never have expected to have these issues. Disappointed doesn't begin to cover it.

Yelp
Stayed here for only one night for a concert at The Spectrum Center. The location is very convenient and we were able to easily walk to the event. The staff is very friendly! They even escorted us to our room to give us a little tour. The decor was stunning and the view of the city streets was amazing! Only down side is that I wish the bedding was much softer :( But I still would recommend this place!

Yelp
I have never stayed in a hotel room alone before, and this was the first time that I tried it. I have never felt more safe in my entire life. I stayed in a big corporate hotel with my mom in a conjoined room, and felt very unsafe. Here, I had my own room, my dad four rooms down from me, and I slept just as well as if I was in my own bed. for starters, the room was extremely luxurious, the snack bar was super tempting so I definitely gave in! I loved how the lights had dimmers, and there was a nice little reading lights next to my bed that I used as a nightlight and it works perfectly. The black out curtain worked so well, there were two very soft luxury blankets there for me, a blow dryer, an iron, a steamer, I could go on. And the pictures don't do it justice. The fact that it was a Boutique Hotel made it feel so homey and comfortable and safe and the staff was so nice. I recommend this to any girls who are scared to stay in a big city alone!

Yelp
Stayed there two nights ago on a business trip with hubby. This hotel is simply wonderful! At every turn there is beauty to behold. The decor is so chic and the fragrance throughout the hotel was divine. I can't wait to stay there in the future!

Yelp
Beautiful hotel! Would recommend and stay here again Convenient location and friendly staff.

Yelp
Stayed here in early October and loved it. The whole place smells amazing, and the room was spacious and well decorated. The location is stellar too.

Yelp
First class hotel with superior accommodations and service! This boutique hotel has eloquently decorated rooms at every turn. It's a very secure building with easy parking in the garage. Valet is available, too. Steps away from all of the 5 star uptown restaurants!

Yelp
The Ivey's hotel was a wonderful hotel, great rooms, the decor was what you would expect and of course located in a great area. What went wrong? One person. Upon checking in on Thu we found the lady at desk having to answer phones and answer questions from other workers keeping her too busy to fully engage with us. Our room was not ready and she told me she would call us, I told her I needed to park my car and she said the valet would take it. I then told her I had called yesterday and asked if it was okay for me to park my car. I told her a guy had told me yes. Thats when she said I didn't talk to you. I said, I know I talked to a guy, she said no you didn't I was here all day yesterday. At that time, my wife, said come here, The valet was standing beside her and motioned me out of the office. The valet told me don't worry I would not park you car after seeing it. I will leave it where its at or go with you to the garage and you park it. Josh saved the day and was great at understanding the difficulty of parking my car in their garage. We walked around for an hour and returned back to the lobby. The desk person said, do you need something? I said we are just waiting on our room. A few minutes later she approached us and handed us keys, didn't tell us how to get to our room, didn't think us for waiting. I know its hard to find employees but this person ruined The Ivey brand. But thanks to Josh both on helping me park the car and go get it. His personality needs to be at the desk. I was here on business and the company that put me up was embarrassed about the event, but told them it was not a reflection on them, just on one person.

Margaret K.

Yelp
Wonderful hotel - room was clean and staff friendly. We stayed several years ago when they were still offering complimentary breakfast and wine & cheese in the library. Big bummer that they no longer do either in the library. Hopefully those both will come back in the near future!

Yelp
Just had a fantastic stay at The Ivey's Hotel. Beginning with the staff, the end to end experience was tailored with class. Seriously every fiber of this hotel is dedicated to sophistication. A few things a really enjoyed- The staff being pleasant and quick to assist with any request. Additionally, as a concierge helped answer questions and provide recommendations. The room was immaculate, feeling more like a home / apartment than a hotel. Nespresso coffee pot with an assortment of pods to select from. Bar / Restaurant downstairs in the hotel is fantastic. Generally I am not a fan of hotel bars, but this completes the experience. The stairs going from the restaurant into the second floor of hotel rooms was very cool. Thanks Ivey's staff for providing a solid experience- I will be back.

Darby O.

Yelp
The Ivey's Hotel really stacks up well against any competition, irrespective of what the competition might charge. Large rooms (when do you ever hear that about an hotel room?), quiet, beautiful design, spotless- everything works. The visuals are fashion nostalgia, muted colors very stylish. The staff ? warm, accommodating and helpful. There is no secret as to their great reviews, they are that good. Hotel is actually more interesting than their online photos. I am attaching a few photos taken.

Yelp
The Ivey's hotel is a dying breed in hotel stays. The hotel is new, apparently there are both residences and hotel rooms. The prices were reasonable, much more reasonable then I thought they would be for the beautiful hotel. I walked Tim the room and was floored by how beautiful the doors, trim and moldings were . The place was absolutely gorgeous. The bathroom was spacious and new. But the thing that stood out about the Ivey's are the people. They had a wine and cheese hour in the bar on the 2nd floor each night, for free I might add, the bartender was so sweet and helpful with recommendations for food and what not and the girls at the front desk were so great too. One of the other great things about this hotel is, IT SMELLS FREAKING FANTASTIC!!! They have essential oil diffusers all over and it makes a big difference smells so Good!

Roberta K.

Yelp
I have stayed at The Ivey's Hotel on several occasions and have never been disappointed. It is a true 5 star hotel. The rooms are luxurious and immaculately decorated. One of my favorite places to stay when visiting Charlotte.

Nicole N.

Yelp
Outstanding, just outstanding. I love boutique hotels and this one is really truly special. During check in I was offered wine , and all service was excellent , prompt, and kind. The attention to detail put into the room and property itself is amazing. So much beautiful art in the hallways and rooms, there is always something to look at. There is a library lounge that is stunning that offers cheeses and wines and fresh pastries in the morning from a local bakery. The front desk allowed me to check out a little later too when I asked. I really just can't say enough good things about this spot, and this will be the ONLY place I stay while I am in Charlotte from now on. It should also be noted that the price is incredibly fair for the quality of stay you receive. Can't wait to come back !

Tino O.

Yelp
Terrible hotel stole over 3k dollars on random charges would not return or receive calls to give us a itemized Bill so we can at least see what they charges us for and fail and refuse to give us even that and during a pandemic on top of that. This very shameful and unprofessional for an establishment of this Caliber.

Brittany S.

Yelp
If you are looking for a getaway from Charlotte without having to go far, I'd recommend the Ivey's! The decor and ambience is dope, you will definitely feel like you're in another place. The bed, omg. So comfy! Me and my love didn't want to get out of it! The bathtub and shower are separate- tub isn't really big enough for two people, but we made it work, I'm 5'5" but my love is 6'4" lol so that adds to the tight fit. We stayed in the king superior room with atrium view- the only thing I disliked. There's no actual window for outside (you'll have to book a more expensive room for that), just a view of a lounge type area. We brought our own snacks, wine, and liquor, but the fridge and room comes fully stocked- but pricey. The technology in here was perfect, and when you first walk in the room there's calming nature sounds playing. Breakfast was okay, not many options if you don't eat meat except for oatmeal, fruit, and pastries. But all in all, I will definitely return!

Colleen M.

Yelp
This hotel is a perfect get-away for a girls night. It is so wonderfully decorated - including some comforts of home. And the best part is the staff starting with Chris Davis. He is valet / bellman and is the perfect first face for this hotel and is a perfect representation of the service you will receive. I cannot say enough good things !!!! Definitely will come back !

Laurie I.

Yelp
Pure opulence. Five stars for decor and overall decorative features. However, the continental breakfast was just okay, in-room snacks and water came with a hefty price tag, and the Library Lounge was not maintained and refreshed regularly. A nice hotel for a weekend getaway though.

Marcia A.

Yelp
This is a beautiful boutique hotel with a great staff, however..... we stayed on a Friday night for a little R & R after a business trip in Charlotte and we fell in love with the hotel and ambiance and were hoping to extend our stay an additional night. Unfortunately, managements poor business decision to price gauge more than double our Friday night stay left a bad taste in our mouth- this was very disappointing for an existing guest whom had over $500 in hotel gift merchandise we had selected for purchase. As much as we loved our experience, we would second guess choosing this hotel based on the Sales Mgr, Christine, and her lack of warmth and customer service. Not just because she wouldn't reduce the rate, it was the overall attitude and feeling that our patronage was not valued. All of the other staff members were fantastic. UPDATE- it is 5:59 pm and they still have 5 rooms available. The same number they had this afternoon when we left. UPDATE still 2 rooms left but they rented the room for exactly the amount we offered to pay ($100 more than the Friday rate we paid)- the rate we were asked to pay was $699. (See arched photo)

Yelp
Ok, seriously???? Love love L O V E! This sweet little gem in uptown Charlotte. Love the location to all our favorite restaurants!! And the walk to the Bank of America Stadium??? Easy! And done!! Starbucks, two steps away. Capital Grill, across the street! Anything and everything is just "two shakes" away!! LC was so helpful at front desk and everyone on staff were attentive!

Yelp
Beautiful hotel. The staff is the problem. My fiancé surprised myself, my sister and cousin with a 3 day stay here for my bachelorette weekend. We heard so many good things and were so excited to go. The night before, again since my fiancé booked it and I wasn't sure if it was partially paid/ paid in full so I called at 8:22 pm on Wed night and spoke to Julie. She re assured me everything was pre paid for, and was super friendly. I check in at 4, again with Julie. She reassured me everything again was paid in full, Offering to print me out a full breakdown. I did need to put a different card on file because the one on file was flagging for fraud and froze the account. Flash forward to this morning, Monday, my account was charged $550.00 from the hotel. So I call, and the first excuse was Julie is new. Regardless of staff being new, it is absolutely concerning that an employee can repeatedly tell someone that everything's good to go and that all I needed was a card on file that was a soft/ pending charge of $250.00. The person on the phone also asked why I was confirming the night before because it seemed odd, well Considering the trip was gifted by my fiancé I would say this isn't an odd thing to do. Then went to say well Julie isn't properly trained she's been thrown into a manager position ... ok well also concerning considering how confident she was in her response not once but twice. Then he also stated that regardless you have to pay right? I own 4 businesses, I'm not an idiot nor blind to the fact of paying for the service, the EXTREME concerning issue is the fact that you have someone in a manager position telling a customer that no money was owed and I wake up to $550 charged, the $250.00 "so called soft charge" plus apparently they want to charge me $400 more dollars. For what I have no clue. Julie also send there's only ONE $250 "soft charge" and apparently it gets charged every night. Nobody's on the same page clearly . Another issue is, we brought our own alcohol and food and they claim we used items from their mini bar that there also charging.I will be calling my bank and fighting the charges that were charged illegally without my knowledge. So, If you want to stay here, And be told by staff there's no balance due, to then be charged and told that "Julie's just not trained enough" even though she's a manager there you go :) super bad taste in my mouth won't be returning.

Yelp
This may be my new favorite hotel. The accommodations are beyond expectations and the level of care for me and my wife have been phenomenal. This will be our uptown Charlotte hotel from now on.

Yelp
We booked rooms at the beautiful Ivey's boutique hotel along with the Tulip Room for meetings with out of town guests. The staff was beyond accommodating. The Tulip room was the perfect size for our group of 20 and the setup was great. PSAV is their contract AV provider and everything went super smooth. 5Church provided catering that was unique and delicious for breakfast, snacks and lunch. They are a magnificent combination and we look forward to hosting events again in the future! Leah Burroughs Recognition and Events, Atrium Health
