15 Best Luxury & Boutique Hotels in Toronto to Book - AFAR

"Tucked into a restored 1850s chocolate factory and operating as an ultra-discreet four-room hotel within a private women’s social club, this intimate hideaway favors privacy and old-world charm. Suites feature king-size Hastens beds, plush upholstered furnishings, and expansive terraces; rooms are larger than typical Toronto hotel accommodations. The ground-floor George restaurant, led by a noted chef, serves highly regarded (and pricey) tasting menus, and the on-site spa is women-only." - Michael Kaminer

We stayed at The ivy at Verity, the staff were very accommodating, they recommended food and places to visit. The rooms were absolutely beautiful, totally faultless. The beauty of this place is it was in a quiet location with no noise at all. With it being a boutique hotel it meant there was no corridor noise, no doors banging it was so peaceful. Each room had it’s own balcony and we were served breakfast everyday which would be left outside your door at 8.00 am so as not to disturb you.

My husband and I stayed for one night for a music event. I wish we stayed two nights and had time to visit George and Secrette. The staff were welcoming, gave us a tour, and showed us to our room through the maze of the beautiful building and its cool rooms. It has a reading room! Our room (Room Four) was beautiful, with a lovely courtside balcony (sadly it was raining), and a massive soaker tub. The furniture, bed, robes, bath salts on the tub, and little gift bags of salts to take home made it feel like a spa. There were pastries, fruit and coffee outside our door in the morning. We ended up leaving later than we had planned. It is not a hotel experience, more like a private rental experience but with exceptional hotel service. This will be our new stay when we are back in the city.

The room was beautifully decorated. We enjoy the size and quality of the king sized mattress. The bathroom was gorgeous, including a variety of bath salts. We only stayed overnight to enjoy a musical within walking distance so we did not use any of the amenities. There is no on-site parking so it will cost you up to $50. Unfortunately most Toronto Hotels have no parking. Room service was scheduled for 8 a.m. It came with croissants, a cinnamon roll, yogurt and granola and fruit. When we arrived we filled out a form for allergies and preferred choices. I requested to have almond milk for my tea as I am lactose intolerant. They forgot to provide it. We also said that we were lactose intolerant ans they gave us yogurt. Overall it was an enjoyable experience.

This sweet hotel is in a former chocolate factory. It has only 4 rooms. The room was large with a balcony. The bed was the most comfortable and most expensive bed I have ever slept in. The location is fantastic. There are many fine restaurants in the area. We were not able to eat at their restaurant ..the George as it is closed on Sunday and Monday. The breakfast delivered to your room was fantastic. The hotel has great security.

From the moment we arrived, the service was spectacular. |This was one of the best spots we've stayed in. The room is large and comfortable. The bed, well beyond spectacular. One of the best ever. |The room is so quiet, and the balcony, its rare, and awesome.||The food from the restaurant was magnificent. We spent a bit of time in the little secret lounge which was an awesome find.|Oh, and the ice cream...to die for.||Again, probably one of the best stays we've had. This is a jewel.

Absolutely stunning boutique hotel. Huge rooms. Comfortable bed. The bathroom is a dream and a small balcony facing a courtyard. Quiet. Unique. Excellent customer service. One of the best places I’ve ever stayed.

The Ivy at Verity is a beautiful European-inspired boutique hotel in the heart of downtown Toronto (Queen + Jarvis) with 4 gorgeously-appointed rooms, each with their own unique style and decor plus 24-hour concierge who will fulfill your every desire. A sommelier brought the perfect bottle of Chianti to our room and shared about its origin, a bath salt "menu" in the spacious bathroom included eucalyptus, rosemary and lavender for a relaxing, deep soak and the in-room continental breakfast was served with fresh coffee and pastries, yoghurt and fruit. Highly recommended for a romantic rendezvous in the city, or an indulgent treat just for you. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Hotel was a former chocolate factory. Today, the rooms are nicely decorated and well equipped. We very much liked the friendly staff and the adjacent „Speakeasy“ cocktail bar. A great restaurant is nearby as well. We can highly recommend the place.

Yelp
Came here with my fiancee to celebrate a milestone, figured we'd try a hotel in our city that wasn't one of the typical ones. We got a gorgeous blue room (Room 3) and just had the best stay! We checked in quickly and were given a short tour of the place, and were asked a few questions for what we wanted in our free breakfast tray the next day (type of juice). First impression was just great. The room itself was beautiful! Comfortable bed with cute French-style decor. There was also a little terrace with chairs and a table which we sat out on. It faces a little courtyard which I'm assuming is from George restaurant below? There's some loud vents but you can't hear them from the room. Honestly it was so quiet and private! The bathroom is amazing. Huge tub, huge shower. Bvlgari shampoo/condition/etc. There's a selection of bath salts waiting for you on a tray on the tub to use. Bathrobes and plastic sandals from the spa also available. Netflix/Apple TV come with the TV system. For dinner, we went down to George restaurant, which is accessible through a door straight from the hotel hallway so we didn't even need to go outside...that was so convenient! Your hotel key card opens the door. You wouldn't know you were above a restaurant however...it's quiet upstairs. For breakfast, each room has a continental style breakfast tray waiting for you in the little bar room outside the hotel rooms. Croissants, boiled egg, juice. You call concierge to get a pot of fresh coffee. In that little room you can also take alcohol ($6) as well as free drinks such as tonic and sodas. Ice is also available there. Overall, we had a fabulous stay! Would definitely recommend this place. We also creeped around and saw they have what looked like dining rooms/event rooms, would be great for an event. On the tour, we saw there's a lounge area, internet room/library area as well!

Yelp
I have to share the worst concierge experience I have ever had! I arrived late one night last week and asked the head concierge if parking in front of the hotel was legal until 9:45am the following morning (when I was checking out to catch my flight) Gerard assured me that indeed it was - after he even tried to retrieve a parking ticket from the meter which he claimed didn't give overnight tickets since parking was free until 10am. Imagine my surprise when I came outside to retrieve my car to drive to the airport- only to find out it had been towed! The slew of unprofessional emails that ensued from the owner of the hotel also deserve to be posted on this site as American Express has sided with my dispute and agreed that this was not my fault. Shame on the head concierge and Mary Aitken (the owner of the hotel/ Seagrass Spa/ George Restaurant and women's networking group) for causing my distress and refusing to acknowledge their errors.

Yelp
We chose The Ivy at Verity for our honeymoon based on reviews and the unique boutique style of the hotel. We loved that there were only four rooms, that each was decorated differently, and that each had its own semi-private balcony. We were not at all disappointed with our stay. We stayed in room 3, "The Blue Room". It was so nice. Very subtly decorated and extremely comfortable, it was a perfect place to start each day by lazily eating the free breakfast that was left in the common area outside our door and to end each night by enjoying a drink on the balcony. The bed was supremely comfortable. The hotel was nearly silent any time we were in our room, it was complete peace. The staff was very friendly, and though we only needed them once, the concierge was very helpful. The only two very minor knocks I would have are the tablet remote control for the TV and the shower. The tablet remote was quite easy to figure out and use, but the functionality left a lot to be desired and the lack of a number pad with which to type direct channel numbers was a bit frustrating. I love me some technology, but that thing wasn't very well done. The shower was huge and the shower heads were awesome, but the placement of the main head on the wall facing the glass door that didn't extend to the threshold of the shower pretty much ensured a huge, wet mess after each shower. Again, both of these are very minor knocks on an otherwise wonderful hotel. I would absolutely recommend staying at The Ivy.

Yelp
the rooms at this hotel are HUGE and all have a large private terrace overlooking a very quaint courtyard. Stayed here during a work trip to Toronto and very much enjoyed the service. Delicious delicious complimentary breakfast as well. Oh and the BEDS and BATHTUBS are huge and so so posh / comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
This stylish and stellar boutique hotel was a wonderful surprise courtesy of my ever so thoughtful hubs, we spent our wedding night and every anniversary since alternating staying in each of their 4 exclusive suites. This stay is impressive beyond words, their beds are the world renown all natural Håsten beds and are beyond dreamy melting you instantly. They are connected to 'George Restaurant' if you desire to up the level of out of this world cuisine that caters to your every whim with grace. If that wasn't enough to entice a visit they have 'The Sweetgrass Spa' a therapy waters all women club that the ladies have full access to with every stay and the gents may have in room spa services so its triumphant for all!

Yelp
+1 to the previous reviewer, this place deserves way more reviews. Awesome service, very well appointed suites, and a great location. Will stay here again. Check HotelTonight for room deals.
