We stayed for 1 night as part of a tour group visit to Galle Fort. The hotel is perfectly located in the middle of the Fort area and close by to plenty of shopping and dining. Our room was upstairs and had a lovely view over the central courtyard. 4 Poster bed with full mosi mesh and separate bathroom. Both rooms large and stylish. Aircon very effective which is a must in the heat of Galle. The bar area is very funky with good music and ice cold draft beer. Good service staff. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Better, quicker and cheaper almost everwhere else. After asking multiple times tuna steak was 1hr 10min. It was overcooked, Luke warm and put on top of cold long crunchy fries, both on top of not fresh salad, not a picky eater but I ate less than half. Pad Thai came 10-15m later. It was hot but seemed like just a lot of soy sauce over not Pad Thai noodles with a few bits in it. I wouldn't describe as pad Thai and so salty barely edible.

after look menu we saw prices is not expensive and we ordered pizza and pasta and drinks. ordered bottle of water, water came with only 2 glasses and not cold (we are three and he say there is no more glass and no cold water). we wait 45 minutes and they heated up the frozen small pizza and gave it to us with a few pieces pasta. Then I realized why the prices were cheaper than the restaurants next door.

DO NOT GO Horrible experience, extremely disappointing. Points to share, 01. Appeared to have a good vibe from outside and the bar was full BUT bad seating made it very uncomfortable and there was no customer service at all (We were standing for 15 minutes before we just showed yourselves to a table) 02. Food is absolutely not worth the price. Four tiny chicken skewers for 1500 LKR, server with a sprinkle of KETCHUP, freshly seasoned with nothing 😂 Pizza was even worse. 03. We waited for over an hour for our food to be serviced and I’m almost sure they forgot about it till we followed up. Only good aspect is that we waited less than a minute for the bill to be presented. Again, DO NOT GO. F&B is entirely over priced.

We stopped for a drink. It was like musical chairs because customers were moving tables to avoid the music which was too loud - especially for the predominantly middle aged western clientele. Shame. If it had been quiet it would have been a lovely place.

My experience at The Ivy by Frangipani was nothing short of a disaster. From the food to the aftermath, it was a nightmare that left me deeply regretting my visit. The food was absolutely terrible—unappetizing, poorly executed, and overpriced. It felt as though the chef relied on “how-to” videos to prepare the dishes. I ordered tacos, expecting something decent, but was served a terrible excuse for them using wheat wraps that were impossible to eat. My wife ordered spaghetti carbonara, which was equally disastrous, a far cry from what you’d expect from even a basic version of the dish. As if the bad food wasn’t enough, both of us ended up with food poisoning, which completely ruined our trip. This was supposed to be a special experience, but instead, it turned into an ordeal. The live music was the only redeeming factor, but even that couldn’t save the experience. Tourists, beware—avoid this place at all costs unless you want to risk ruining your entire vacation. Overpriced, low-quality food served with grandiose pricing The Ivy by Frangipani is an absolute no-go.

Great spot for an overnight stay. Character rooms with plenty of space and good aircon. Excellent location. Simple but enjoyable breakfast. Fun bar at the front of the hotel serves icy cold beers 🍻👍

I recently visited this restaurant in Galle Fort. The location was charming, and the ambiance was exceptional – the décor and atmosphere truly enhanced the experience. The music added a nice touch, creating a relaxed vibe. The food was good, with fresh ingredients and well-balanced flavors. However, the service was quite slow, which was disappointing as it took away from the otherwise enjoyable experience. Overall, it’s worth a visit for the food and setting, but be prepared for a bit of a wait.
