The James Hotel Rotterdam

Very nice hotel with outstanding and friendly staff. Located in the center of Rotterdam city, surrounded by many parking garages if you are driving there. We booked two rooms and they both were clean, spotless, comfortable and smelled good. The second floor had nice small shopping/ lounge area. They offer verity of snakes, cold and hot drinks, and few types of beers and wine. The breakfast items were limited but good enough to offer a good continental breakfast.

There is no soundproofing from the door, which was quite noticeable. The room itself was clean and the bed very comfortable. However, previous reviews were right to point out that the hotel requires a €100 deposit, something I had never encountered before in other hotels. I recommend paying it in cash so you can get it back on the same day of your departure. Breakfast is not provided, but there is a 24/7 self-service shop where you can buy snacks and coffee. The elevator works without a room card, so technically anyone can enter the hotel, which raises some concerns about security.

The James is a lovely boutique-like hotel, centrally located. Night life and many lovely restaurants around the hotel and walk ability factor is 9. Our room was pretty large with a fridge and coffee n tea making facility. The bathroom is well equipped with a nice shower. Beds were so comfortable. They have a 24 hour convenience store/eatery on the 2nd floor. Very convenient. We love this hotel. Will definitely return to stay.

We stayed here recently for 2 nights in Rotterdam. Overall a very clean and comfortable hotel. The decor was very dark and a bit gloomy in parts, maybe this is trendy? The staff were friendly and helpful. The bedroom and bathroom dark decor again but clean. The bed was large and very comfortable. The sofa in the room was not comfortable but handy to dump bags etc on! Even with instructions from reception we could not get the TV to work so gave up! The shower was good and the ac was brilliant especially in the heat wave. The bath towels were ok but a bit small. There was a coffee machine which only made expressos, a kettle but no breakfast tea bags only herbal, and no cups, wish I had brought some teabags!!|We went out for breakfast as limited breakfast. Bar, food etc all self-service which was ok but a bit soulless. No restaurant.|Hotel centrally located and not far from train station. There was building work nearby but we never heard any noise.|If we came back to Rotterdam we would stay again (but bring teabags) Sorry this is just a British thing!!

The hotel is very well located and central. Lots of nice restaurants/shops around. Check in is straightforward and the reception staffs are friendly. However, we were almost on the verge being kickout/ not being accepted due to some misunderstanding they had in their emails. I told them I would not book it in the first place if I did not get an exception from them that we will be 3 adults and 1 baby in one superior room with extra bed. The thing is, our whole email conversation is being handled by several reception officers which caused the confusion. At the end, they agreed that everything is ok and they will let us in. (On side note, I understand their point as to why they are not allowing but then, they had made an exception for us which preempted me to book with them) As for the room, it is modern and clean. Their toilet is not connected to the bathroom so this part is a bit hassle but we’re fine with it. If you want some toiletries/hotel stuff, you have to ask directly from them since they dont provide in the room itself. The bed and pillows are all okay and their air ventilation works wonder for a hot summer in rotterdam. Plus points that they have in house parking (with reservation) which is an automatic elevator parking type and a lot cheaper than other paid parkings around the area. Lastly, I would have given this is 5 star if they have a fully available and around the clock microwave in their lounge. We went there to have our breakfast which we bought outside but the lady in the foodmarket told us that they do not have a microwave available in the morning and only in the afternoon. I told her how come there are foods in the fridge, how will you eat them and she reasoned out it’s supposed to be eaten COLD!! Really??? Should a risotto be eaten cold??? Also, how will be able to heat up our baby’s food if the microwave is only available in the morning??? Sounds absurd. Food market is a soso for breakfast. Honestly, I never thought I would missed a full on breakfast service until I experienced the breakfast here in The James hotel. Certainly something to be looked out. Anyways, it didnt bother us that much since we decided just to eat outside. Other than those i’ve mentioned, everything is fine and very much comfortable to our liking.

This hotel was nice. Right in the middle of everything. Room was clean, decent size, also had a work space. And when I walked in to check in it was as if the women at the front desk had a modeling job later that day. The girl whi helped me showed me where to go, where to eat and was very helpful. Nice property, beautiful people, great guest care.

The location of this hotel is good. It is very convenient to go shopping and eat in restaurants. The cleanliness in the room is really average. The sheets in the room make me feel sick, and there is hair. The service staff seems unable to properly clean the room every day. They just make the bed tidy for you and don't clean. The experience is very bad, and the front desk clerks speak with a mean smile and strange tone, which makes you feel uncomfortable. Not recommended, will not come back.

A very decent, nice, cozy hotel close to centrum and most attractions. We enjoyed our stay. The room had all the basic amenities one needs for a good night stay.

Gorgeous hotel in central Rotterdam, about a 10-minute walk from the Centraal Station (which itself is an incredible architectural marvel). The James is a beautifully designed and immaculate place to stay; we loved the King bed, large shower and--on the 85-degree day we were in town--the AC. The staff was friendly and helpful and even stored our 10+ pounds of cheese (yes, we have a problem) in the hotel's main fridge because our in-room mini fridge couldn't keep the cheese cool enough. We also enjoyed the mini gym, the gorgeous lounge (pic attached) and the convenient location. Another bonus: there are just five to six rooms per floor, so you don't have people coming and going at all hours, which meant a quiet, restful sleep.

Really nice hotel, Very clean and the staff was accommodating. We enjoyed the Christmas decor and aromas in the hotel. The hotel's store was moderately priced and the location was in a nice area. Would visit again.
