"The Jefferson Hotel has been the gold standard for discerning visitors to Richmond (including 13 U.S. presidents) since 1895. Not content to rest on their laurels, the hotel completed a renovation in 2016, restoring its landmarked public areas and refreshing and expanding the guest rooms and suites. The new rooms feel more like posh apartments, with doorbells, foyers to the sitting and dressing areas, and luxury touches like soaking tubs, walk-in showers, and in-mirror televisions. The alligator drawer pulls are a nod to the creatures who used to live in the lobby fountains in the early 20th century. The Rotunda and Palm Court lobbies, with their Tiffany stained glass ceilings, have overlooked many power meetings and celebrations, and provide a magnificent backdrop for decadent afternoon tea or the popular champagne Sunday brunch. The four-star Lemaire restaurant serves a New American menu of Virginia ingredients in their distinctive dining rooms, while the more relaxed TJ’s bistro is open for hearty breakfasts and classic lunch fare. Guests of the Jefferson may work off all that locally sourced food at the 3,000-square-foot gym or in the indoor pool with skylights and an outdoor pool deck."

The hotel is beautiful and very well managed. From check in to check out it was as if our comfort was of paramount importance to the staff. The room (we had a premiere king) was more spacious than a NY city apartment. The bath towels were thick, absorbent and plentiful. The robes were the most comfortable I’ve ever worn. ||Desk staff and the concierge staff were very friendly and helpful. I had an early medical test and the concierge arranged a shuttle to the hospital and back again. Outstanding service! ||We will return!

We loved staying here. The bedding was soft and cozy. The room was spacious and comfortble. Its always the little things that make me happy, the smiles from the staff as you walk through the doors or the valet offering water for the road. It was such a nice stay.

From the moment that our car pulled into the driveway, I knew that we were in for a FABULOUS and LUXURIOUS experience! We were greeted at the door by the footmen/doormen, who promptly opened our doors, inquired as to the luggage, and, swiftly ushered us inside! We were greeted by the reception desk, and, check-in was a mere and brief, conversation. Our Porter took us to our beautiful suite, and, made mention of the restaurant, bar, indoor pool, and room service. Maid service was excellent, as were the lobby staff, and obviously the management is impeccable! We sampled all of the amenities of this beautifully maintained landmark hotel!

Took my husband for the Champagne Brunch on June 8 2025. We enjoyed it immensely! I usually don't like buffet because the food is usually awful. Not here everything we ate was prepared well and tasted excellent. They have all the expected brunch foods plus oysters on the half shell shrimp, salmon, prime rib and ham. Lots of food for the price! The desserts for me were the best part. So Yummy! Hotel is Gorgeous. One year I am going to get to stay at the hotel.

The perfect setting for a great time with my granddaughter. She loves room service and boy; Did they offer great room service! Comfy beds and amazing amenities. This truly one of Richmond’s historic highlights. Just walking in the lobby is on inspiring. I compare it to The Sistine Chapel!!! it’s not the cheapest but it’s worth a stay if you’re in Richmond.

Had an amazing experience at The Jefferson Hotel’s all-you-can-eat brunch with bottomless champagne! The variety of food options was great — something for everyone. I especially loved the made-to-order omelet and pancake stations, where everything was cooked just the way I like it. The atmosphere was absolutely beautiful and elegant. We sat on the balcony level, which felt more secluded and made the experience even more special. A perfect spot for a nice and indulgent Sunday brunch — highly recommend!

Google
A beautiful and historic hotel with elegant rooms and outstanding service. While our view wasn’t particularly special, the room itself was comfortable and well-appointed. The concierge and staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming—we especially appreciated the complimentary parking upgrade. The main restaurant is excellent and truly delivers on flavor and quality. The breakfast salon, however, could benefit from a design refresh to better reflect the high standard of the food being served. Overall, a memorable and very pleasant stay.

Google
The opulence can be overwhelming but it’s so beautiful that I could not help but enjoy the experience. Usually when I’m at a place like this, I automatically think about the fact that my ancestors probably were responsible for building, cleaning and serving, but not checking in as guests. But then I think about the bright side, when I figure my ancestors are smiling down on me because I am a guest. And people who work there now are employed in every area of the hotel. Our room was actually about three rooms combined to make a bedroom, a long marble hall with a bathroom the size of a full room, and a living room separated by a door like it was your own personal home. Very beautiful. The bed felt like a cloud but with crisp, fresh linens. Breakfast was divine at TJs. The Salamander Inn in Middleburg, VA is still tops but the Jefferson is in the Top 4.

Yelp
I stayed at the Jefferson Hotel for a quick weekday trip. It is the epitome of 5 star hotel. It is beautiful inside and out. I ordered room service for breakfast and lunch. The pancakes were perfect! The chicken tenders for lunch were the best ever. The staff is super polite. Even though it is in the heart of Richmond, they even had their own parking lot. 10000000/10 recommend.

Yelp
Beautiful place. Not a great tea experience. I've had tea here before and the food and experience was good. Yeah at $62 per person with fees it's expensive but it's a treat and you could count on decent food. This time wasn't the case. My friend got the vegetarian option and I did the regular service. Shamefully The Jefferson included a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for the vegetarian option. Come on! Be more creative! That is just downright embarrassing for The Jefferson. I got the standard service and it was fine. The ham sandwich had a whisper of ham on it. Portions were way off. After this experience I think I'll try some different places to have tea. I heard the VMFA has a really nice afternoon tea so I'll definitely check that out.

Yelp
*This rating is for the afternoon tea* I have lived in Richmond for over 10 years and worked at this hotel for 4 years and never even thought about going to afternoon tea. I wish I hadn't waited so long! The tea was absolutely delicious (I had the Richmond blended and it tasted like Christmas in a cup) and our carafes were always full. We had so much food and so many varieties, it was hard to figure out where to start (our favorites were the chicken salad sandwich, the Oreo scones and the lemon cups). Our server was diligent and also hilarious. There's something so relaxing about enjoying tea with good company overlooking a beautiful rotunda. Afterwards, I took my guests to the little "museum" area so they could read the history. I'll definitely be back to enjoy tea again...I imagine tea during the holidays is absolutely spectacular.

Yelp
My friend from Richmond met me here while I was out of town and it was a grand welcoming to the great city. I didnt stay at the hotel but had a cocktail and ate at the bar. The cocktails were delicious and so was the food, I had the crabcake sandwich which is a must in VA and it was one of the best crabcakes I ever had, better than what I got in Maryland. I told my friend who was also visiting that this was a must stop.
google avatar

Yelp
Just everything about this hotel makes you feel special because it is so special! We love to go at Christmas to have lunch and enjoy the wonderful decorations! Actually anytime is great. The history of this old hotel and the wonderful food is always a treat! i'm

Yelp
My daughters treated me to afternoon tea at the Jefferson hotel for my birthday. The interior decor is elegant yet relaxing. The tea service was exceptional - delicious tea selections and an abundance of sweet and savory bites of food. Our waitress was charming and helpful. Tables are nicely spaced allowing for private conversations. I highly recommend this experience.

Yelp
We recently stayed for a quick overnight trip. Expensive? You bet ya. Worth it, always. If romance is what you are looking for, there is no need to look any further in Richmond. The comfortable beds, bathroom tvs, large tubs and showers, quiet peaceful windows and cold AC (no red hot moments here) keep us coming back. The Jefferson is all about hydration. Water was provided in the rooms, but if you need more, the gym keeps a few bottles. Need refreshing Jefferson Hot Tea or Coffee? You can grab a free cup all throughout your day/stay in the gift shop. It's our go to for a quick staycation. As for Breakfast...the hostess was gone, and several waiters passed us and told us just a minute. 10 min later we left. Disgusted. Why pay top prices for horrible service. 1 star definitely!!! go elsewhere.

Yelp
Finally made it to The Jefferson for Sunday brunch and it was delicious. Breakfast side favorites: potatoes, biscuits and sausage gravy, and I loved my made to order blueberry pancake. Lunch side favorites: the ribeye (well done piece) was so tender and flavorful and I enjoyed the potato and leek soup. Dessert favorites were the carrot cake and red velvet cake; making them mini was the perfect idea! Our sever Jaden described the different stations for us and recommended his favorite dishes. He checked in on us periodically and kept the champagne coming and I so so appreciate him taking pictures for us.

Yelp
We had an overnight at the Jefferson and really enjoyed the entire experience. The entire staff were very friendly and welcoming. The hotel is stunning and incredibly maintained. We liked the security of needing a room keep to access the non-public floors. Our room was large and well appointed. It was incredibly clean and harkened back to an earlier time which we loved. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was huge with a fantastic shower. Loved that they still have turn down service and left us an alligator chocolate!! Definitely worth a visit - we live locally so it was a staycation for us!

Yelp
A true historic hotel. Very nice but seemed like a one hit wonder. After you left the main room. The Christmas cheer. Disappeared. I had to of missed the rest of the experience. Want to experience an amazing historic hotel; although not in richmond. Sorry Yall. Try The Grove Park Inn In Asheville,NC. And 30 mins from there with traffic. The Biltmore. The Disney land of holiday decorations. Look them up!

Yelp
I've been to the Jefferson Hotel many times -- to dine at Lemaire and attend afternoon tea. Today I'm going to talk about my experience having tea here. The Jefferson is a Richmond staple for so many reasons, but what makes it so special is how you feel when you step inside -- regal and elegant. Afternoon tea is no different. Here are some of the highlights: - Service here is prompt and friendly -They can accommodate dietary restrictions such as vegan or vegetarian -They have some tea events that are really cool like their Christmas tea and Halloween tea. (The halloween tea is a ton of fun, featuring pumpkin carving, trick-or-treating, and other entertainment) -it's fun to get dressed up when you go! Overall, The Jefferson is the epitome of classy meets elegance.

Yelp
Five Star experience for sure. We did brunch, too. It's amazing and actually a pretty great deal. Bread pudding was my absolute favorite and was tucked away at the dessert station so I also missed it! They even do a Royal Tea for little ones. The hotel is well maintained with lots of special touches to make your stay feel luxurious (think custom entry scent, turn down service, complimentary room upgrade). Location is fabulous, too and the self parking very easy to navigate.

Yelp
The champagne brunch was a great birthday celebration with family! Our waiter was super attentive with drinks and requests. The food selection was extensive. Delicious ham and prime rib. Raw oysters. The omelette made to order bar was good, but could have been quicker. So many dessert options, and all good. Clean bathrooms. Easy parking. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
A staple to visit when you're in RVA, but I'm fortunate to be able to come at least once a year for a luncheon. Their service is always notable, with them quietly fluttering around and working on the catered items. Your water and tea are filled almost immediately, and your dirty plate is whisked away a few minutes after you finish eating. Their foods are all well thought out and their decor is always old classic. The only reason I dropped a star was that at the tail end of my chicken, there was some pink. I didn't want to ruin a good time for everyone so I just moved on.

Yelp
I went here for brunch as a way to end my bach weekend. It was very fancy and a cool experience. Our waitress and surrounding staff were very nice and answered any questions we had. The food was pretty good although I don't think I could ever eat $65 worth. Also, they're breakfast meat options were all pork. That was a little disappointing. The buffet has a variety of food, but I personally didn't try anything I didn't have a taste for or anything that I thought I might not like (I didn't want to waste any food), however, I left stuffed!
google avatar

Indira M.

Yelp
The hotel is lovely. Went hit the holiday tea. The food (sandwiches and cookies) wasn't very good and the tea itself was okay. You can pick from two different tea options. Reservations are required and each person was $65/each. Santa visits and you can a few pictures with him if you want using your phone. I think it's a nice experience overall but it honestly was overpriced. If could be better if they served actual food.

Yelp
Loved this hotel. Beautiful room, great Thanksgiving dinner, great bar area. Staff goes above and beyond.

Yelp
Afternoon tea at the Jefferson is a fun way to have a formal day. We went for my birthday and had to make reservations ~4 weeks in advance. The tea itself was quite delicious, their blends made non-tea drinkers at the table enjoy tea. However, we could all agree that the quality of sandwiches did not meet our expectations for the $60 pre tip/tax. That being said, on a different day we had their brunch buffet. I must say the champagne Sunday brunch is divine and our service was always on top of things- making sure to clear plates and top off glasses of unlimited mimosas at the speed of light. Eggs Benedict, raw oysters, and a carving station? The fanciest buffet I've ever been to. In conclusion, Sunday brunch is much more worth the price but afternoon tea is a very cute experience for a a special occasion.

Yelp
What a wonderful experience. The staff at the hotel is so kind and the rooms are gorgeous, including the marble Turkish baths. This hotel has thought of everything in the customer's experience from arrival to departure. Lamaire is delish and the wine list is fantastic. The famed peanut soup is so much creamier and better than one could imagine, and the beef tenderloin is as flavorful and tender as anything in Florence. I highly recommend this as a splurge to treat oneself in Richmond. Also, it is dog friendly and our pup had a fantastic time. The neighborhood surrounding the hotel was also lovely and we took some great walks over to VCU and several art galleries and vintage clothes boutiques. 10/10 and we will be back.

Yelp
Took my wife here for champagne Sunday brunch on her birthday and I have to say, I may have enjoyed it more than she did. We got dressed up and had a semi private table to make it a little more special. I can't even begin to list the foods because there will be a book on this page but some of the favorites were obviously the unlimited mimosas, roast beef, eggs Benedict, and all the seafood options! I added some pictures out my perfect table view. It was busy but our table made it romantic. The server was fantastic, she didn't rush us and allowed us to enjoy our time together. We finished the day with a piece of cheesecake that said happy birthday for her! It was fantastic! I would gladly go back again we just need to find a weekend when it isn't sold out!

Yelp
Wow! Another incredible experience at the Jefferson. My first time here was two years ago for a baby moon. This time was for afternoon tea on a Saturday. Each of us got a different tea and our waitress kept our pots topped off and got the whole time! That way we could each sample each others tea. The tea sandwiches, pastries, and desserts were all delicious! Everything was moist, flavorful, and delicious. We even had some food items left to take home at the end of our tea as there was so much food!! All of it is presented beautifully. We had time to catch up and chat. I feel like it's something we all need to do a bit more of... stop and just talk or relax.

Yelp
High tea at the Jefferson. I got the vanilla Rooibos tea which was on the sweet side. Spouse got the Jefferson blend. Similar to earl gray. We got full before we finished. Got a box to take home the top level. The chocolate covered strawberries and a few other items. It was a very relaxing experience. And they do have boxes to take home leftovers, although I expect most people would finish all of the dishes. Our parking was validated but the bar didn't go up after scanning the validated slip. The parking attendant had an issue with accepting the validated ticket saying we had to pay with charge card. After some further discussion he frustratedly opened up the bar for us to leave. That was an annoying end to a relaxing tea.

Yelp
Very classy Hotel; everything was awesome! I was there because I was invited to a wedding. Everyone loved the atmosphere; nice carpet throughout the hotel. I would definitely visit this magnificent place again. All of the clerks and staff were first class.

Yelp
After living in Richmond about 30 years, I finally returned and was able to stay at the Jefferson for the first time. Wow!! It was worth it all. We just got back from staying at some crazy nice places across Europe and we agreed that the Grand Premier Room beat them all. More comfortable, great space, loved the design, incredible room, awesome staff, great experience - all around our favorite place in many years. I can't wait to return to Richmond so we can do it again. We also did the Sunday brunch. You have GOT to add it in. I doubt I would do it again, but I have no regrets doing it once. Pro tip: there are tons of food stations. Don't get in a long slow line. Just move to a different area and come back. There is so much awesome food, why waste your time when you can be enjoying time with your friends.

Yelp
I want to live here indefinitely. I spent one glorious night here for my birthday & I'm dazzled. Yes, it's an older hotel, but that's a part of its charm. The exquisite service is unbeatable. Upon arrival, the valet took our car & the doors to the building opened up automatically with a fresh breeze of cool air. After check-in, a young man came to our room with a chilled bottle of Chardonnay. I soaked in the deep tub with dimmed lights & snuggled myself in the plush robe provided before I headed down to Lemaire for drinks & appetizers. We got seated at the bar quickly & enjoyed the best tomato salad & mussels I've ever had. Turn down service included bottles of water & the super cute Old Pompey Alligator chocolates when we returned to our room. When we had to leave, the valet offered extra water for our departure, which was especially nice due to the hot weather. I highly recommend visiting this hotel, you will not be disappointed. PS. The amazing Old Pompey chocolates can be purchased in the gift shop for $1

Yelp
2 words: Sunday Brunch. It is a must if in Richmond. We went on my birthday weekend and now I want to go for Christmas and every other holiday! The food was amazing - too many options to list: eggs Benedict, pancakes, waffles, bacon, sausage, pasta, roast beef, ham, chicken, charcuterie, fruit, desserts. All amazing in this gorgeous hotel!
google avatar

Quantina T.

Yelp
This review is strictly about the Sunday Brunch! I have not had the honor of staying at this historic hotel! My friends and I decided to try the Sunday Brunch at the Jefferson and we were not disappointed! There was a variety of food items; an omelet station, carving station, hash-browns, loaded potatoes, French toast, waffles, pastries, eggs, bacon, sausage, salmon, rockfish, mussels, oysters, shrimp, pasta, grits, etc. Im sure Im missing something! They also had unlimited mimosas, poinsettias, sparkling cider, juice, and coffees. All of the food was delicious and was well worth the price point. The waitstaff was very friendly and considerate. i love that they weren't overbearing, but were very helpful. Reservations are required and brunch is kinda pricey. $$$

Yelp
The Champagne Sunday Brunch at The Jefferson is outstanding. From the stately settings to the delicious variety of cuisine, this restaurant is definitely worth experiencing. We spoke with several quests, previously unknown to us; many agreed the prime rib was the best they ever tasted--and I agree. The raw oysters on half shell were the largest we had ever seen. The assortment of breakfast and lunch/dinner dishes were fantastic. Recommend highly.

Yelp
Heard of this historic hotel and restaurant. Loved the detailed interior, bar lunch area and friendly staff. Delicious food and a small peak at locals and an out of towner in a kilt.

Yelp
We stayed and played at the Jefferson hotel to celebrate my sister's bday.We arrived mid afternoon in a Tuesday, we were immediately greeted with a friendly welcome by the valet and another attendant whom opened our car doors. Our luggage was carefully removed to a cart. The car was taken by the valet as well. Our room was ready, and we were escorted to the room. Immediately I noticed the beauty of this hotel and it absolutely stood out from another hotel I've lodged at. The decor is very historical..The Jefferson Era, with many painting of Jefferson and patriotic art. The ceiling in the lobby is stained glass, very well kept although vintage. Furniture and carpeting throughout the hotel followed suit. This hotel is very well kept and beautifully clean. The staff always greeted us as we walked anywhere inside and out. Soft music played in the lobby as well. Our event in the evening was nothing short of exquisite. Decor my Brother n law had decorated by his usual event planner. Our table setting was elegant and 4 course meal to follow. Flavorful and tender steak I chose from the menu he had chose. It also offered salmon or chicken. This was a excellent time and stay. Check out was just as smooth.

Audrye B.

Yelp
I attended a wedding this weekend and the person handling it apparently didn't know what she was doing. The Jefferson missed the mark especially when so much money is being spent. The event coordinator was simply horrible. I would not recommend them for such an intimate event. The staff overall were not accommodating except for the valets. The valets were polite and helpful. The bartenders and waitstaff were relatively rude.

Yelp
Stayed at the Jefferson hotel Friday and Saturday night my cousins wedding beautiful top of the line Jefferson suite why the groom & bride's brand new vehicle gets stolen from the hotel after they valeted it......Inside Job.......

Yelp
First I want to say I have been in customer service for 30 years and upper management for a few decades. We have been to the brunch a few times in the last year. We usually sit up in the mezzanine and Taryn (?) is our server. She is outstanding!!! This time while booking for the holiday brunch we were seated in a different section. While I have always felt the food is abundant there isn't anything on the brunch menu that I couldn't find at a local diner or chain restaurant. While I do know there is value in the amount of food offered, I feel the price for the brunch is about the atmosphere, ambiance, and top-tier customer service. Today, we were barely checked on by our server. I had to ask for my glass to be refilled. The first time I was poured lukewarm orange juice and water. So, the next time I asked for ice. Our plates were not cleared until the very end. I placed my plate on the server tray at one point. While I understand the facilities are packed, management should take proper steps in staffing if that is the issue. In all honesty, I did not see our server on our side so I am not sure where he was. If a mandatory 20 percent gratuity is added to my bill, I expect top-notch service. Brunch for two people runs about $225 and a table for 8 is about $1,000.00. I could go to Waffle House or Cracker Barrel for my eggs and french toast. I came to Jefferson for the experience. I come in the Main Street entrance and there isn't a person at the door welcoming me in. I want to be greeted at the door, Welcome to the Jefferson. How may I help you or where can I direct you? When I go to your gift shop, I want to hear welcome to the gift shop. I do not want to see two people behind the counter not bothered if the shop is packed and just lounging around. The lure of the holiday brunch which carries a $20 surcharge is the decorations. Are they plentiful, yes. Are they stunning, no. They appear to be a lot of decorations from Hobby Lobby or Michael's. I want to see unique, grand, and magical. Even the sign for the Gingerbread house looked like they printed it on the 1980 Epson printer from the back office. I noticed in the bathroom today that an upgrade could be done. Automatic faucets and hand soap dispensers would be nice. Also, some sort of upscale towel dispenser. The two ladies working the omelet station were very lovely and kind. I know it was the end of the day and maybe it was just an off day. You are only as good as the customer service you provide. Everyone has a service to sell and what should set The Jefferson apart is the stellar customer service that seemed to be lacking today.

Yelp
I was excited show off the hotel lobby to a girlfriend of mine who was visiting from Massachusetts and go to the lower bar of the hotel for drinks and appetizers/dinner. That's where the excitement ended. Our waitress was almost non existent, she brought us our drinks and quickly turned around without asking if we wanted to order anything. 10 min later she came back for our orders. My Caesar salad was mostly brown lettuce, but the chicken was good. There were only two other tables besides us and no one at the bar. Our waitress never came back to check on us or refill our drinks. I actually had to go to the bartender to ask where she was just to get our bill. We paid our full bill but only left a 10% tip for the poor service. Found a manager and told him the chef should be ashamed of what was served and the lack of service from our waitress. So disappointed ---will not bring guests there again for drinks or food.

Yelp
Was staying at the hotel and decided to have brunch at 12noon. At first there was no one to seat us. Then when a woman showed up casually without indicating they worked there, proceeded to tell us that we were not welcome there and refused to seat us. The dining room was half full. Clearly this was a clear racist attitude she gave us. We asked if we could make reservations for later and we're told they could not take our reservation request. Then she went off to get a manager to see if they could make an exception. We waited as she walked out of sight then came back and walked out of sight again. Clearly we and our kind were not welcome here. We then decided to leave the hotel completely right then and there. A nice quiet and very little people traffic day was ruined as this hotel failed miserably to serve based on race! Awful place and I would never recommend to stay here ever again!!

Yelp
If you are an AMEX member especially this is for you. We got breakfast included, valet Included, dog included, two welcome drinks from Lemaire. We took advantage of transportation being included and arranged with concierge. We also got a $200 fine hotel credit back. We were looking at the Hilton downtown, but honestly once you included parking, welcome drinks, and transportation, it came out to about the same cost only we stayed at a five start hotel with impeccable service.

Yelp
When trying to get a fast impression of Richmond, visiting the Jefferson is definitely an item that should be on your list. First class hotel with wonderful architecture on full display, with a wonderful scent in the air that can be smelled even through a perfect N95 mask ...
google avatar

Yelp
This beautiful, old hotel is worth visiting both for it's architecture and cuisine. The dining area is elegant and the service is impeccable. I doubt that you wouldn't enjoy anything on the menu. Parking is validated.

Yelp
I loved my visit here. Customer service was superb! Staff were friendly, professional, and extremely courteous. I ate in both restaurants and the meals were excellent. The Champagne Brunch was awesome and definitely something to tell about. I had reservations for a party of 4. At the very last minute I requested a party of 10. Although our party was split, the staff accommodated my request. The room was extremely beautiful and we got to socialize with each other. Thank you to the Jefferson Hotel and amazing staff. Special thanks to Amber for getting our brunch reservations changed. This place is a must visit. I definitely plan on returning!!

Yelp
This is THE place to stay in Richmond VA. They had me at "indoor pool", but that is the least of the charms of this hotel and I do mean charms. I like hotels with character and history and the Jefferson Hotel has both in spades. As a business traveler I stay in a lot of corporate hotels that are virtually indistinguishable from each other and from city to city. Entering the lobby of The Jefferson Hotel you know you are someplace very special; triple that at Christmas. For a hotel that is almost 130 years old the rooms, or at least my room, was remarkably spacious and had every amenity I expect at the newest hotels. The restaurant, Lemaire, was excellent as well and you would expect in a top flight hotel. I try to eat local foods/specialties when I travel and the fried oysters, crab cakes and collard green side dish did not disappoint. For the business traveler, it is a short, straight walk down Franklin Street to the state capitol. As an AmEx Platinum member I got included breakfast, early check-in, late check out and an included ride back to the airport.

Yelp
If I could give this place 6 stars I would! To say that I was excited to visit this fine establishment after doing all of my research online, would be an understatement. Especially since we were able to book under the summer special package with free valet included. Downtown Richmond seems to be a very cute, artsy vibe town. Because we were there for a very short time and had to rush out to a wedding, we weren't able to really explore, but the area around the hotel seemed really interesting. Upon arrival, I was immediately impressed by the thorough, friendly service received from the very well dressed valet attendant.. old school hat and everything. We were offered (many times) assistance with our bags, which we didn't need. The lobby is magnificent! From the original Tiffany windows on the ceiling to the very elegant and distinguished details around the room. I can't explain it, but when you walk in.. it's just an EXPERIENCE. And that's exactly why I was willing to pay more to get. We were given a great amount of info about the amenities and options during our stay, along with a mini history lesson of the grounds along with a booklet to learn more. The public areas are very well kept. Elevators, walls, carpeting.. all very good condition. The room was WONDERFUL. It had it's own foyer, entrance into our main sleeping area, another sitting area with a window, closet and a place to lay your luggage. Complimentary slippers.. then the bathroom! Wow. Huge bathroom with a wonderful shower where you could sit.. great detail down to the toilet paper having a gold sticker on it's fresh rolls.. And what a cool fun touch to have a TV IN THE MIRROR. Wow. I've never been able to watch TV while I brush my teeth or take a shower. I love the turndown service that we were greeted with when we came back in the room that night before a great night of sleep.. very comfy and clean. We were called to see if we needed assistance with our bags prior to our later check out, which was a friendly breeze. If we are ever in the area again, there is no doubt this will be where we return!!

Yelp
My fiancé and I enjoyed a weekend here and found the hotel, amenities, and most of all the staff to be wonderful. Check-in was a very smooth process and the staff were kind and helping while assisting us. When we asked the concierge for recommendations, William was incredibly helpful. He walked us through some key destinations to visit in Richmond along with some summaries and key locations in each. William also recommended and was able to get us a last minute reservation at a stellar restaurant (Belmont Food Shop). I can't wait to visit again and continue to enjoy all Richmond has to offer!

Yelp
We had a wonderful stay at the Jefferson. The hotel room was clean (much cleaner than any other hotel I have stayed in in the past 10 years) and the bed was comfortable. The service was impeccable. We had breakfast in the restaurant and the eggs Benedict were delicious- the best I've had. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This hotel is beyond beautiful! I was taken aback by the antique and classy decor of the hotel and rooms. I was upgraded to a suite, which was part of the AMEX perks, and was given free breakfast and parking for the stay. The room was very comfortable and the robes provided were a delight. The bathroom was gorgeous with a large marble shower and a tv mirror! I didn't want to leave the room, which is a clear indicator of just how cozy and wonderful the room was.

Yelp
The afternoon tea experience here was wonderful. I took my husband for his birthday, and he loved it. The service was impeccable, the teas were delicious. Their sandwiches were mehhh, which was the only part I didn't enjoy. I like that there is a sweet and savory scone to enjoy, and the loaf cakes were delicious. The desserts seemed delicate, but were full of flavor. Overall, it is a great way to celebrate a special occasion. We will definitely be back many more times!

Yelp
Staying at the Jefferson was a great experience. It is an elegant hotel in downtown Richmond, VA, extremely comfortable and well-furnished rooms with the amenities of a modern hotel. Breakfast in the dining room was elegant.
