The Jervey

The Jervey has a fun, welcoming atmosphere, serving top notch food and drink from an open kitchen and a cool bar with just enough background music to create a great vibe. It got increasingly packed on a Sunday night even though it was snowing a bit, so news is clearly getting around that this new steakhouse is the place to be for a fun night out. The bar area has a relaxed vibe and there are also tables on the dining side for more of a classic meal experience. The menu expertly combines high-end with playful - e.g. a mocktail called "Better than Nothing" so tasty that you don't miss the alcohol and a dessert called "Big Old Slice of Cake." The food is perfectly seasoned using quality ingredients, cleverly thought out, and beautifully plated but not fussy. The service is outstanding and the bartenders really know how to make a good cocktail. Everyone was warm and friendly. I included photos of the Clover Club cocktail and the tuna tartare appetizer, which were both fabulous. The rib cap and the trout were both unbelievably tender and juicy. The Brussels sprouts and asparagus were super flavorful and perfectly roasted, and the lobster mac and cheese is out of this world. I could also stare at the cool chandelier puffs all night that give the decor a unique look. Fantastic place all around!

Exactly what Charlottesville needed! The food and service were exceptional! Also so fun for my husband to see a Vieux Carré on the regular menu (That almost never happens and it’s one of his favorite drinks). Must orders: AO Belly Bacon Rib Cap Potatoes au Gratin

Beautiful new restaurant in the heart of Belmont with delicious food and amazing service! The moment you walk in, you're greeted promptly and are in awe of the decor- the chandelier/ball lights, rich mulberry wall color, and I love the open kitchen concept. We had reservations, but the bar is first come, first serve and it was a full house on Saturday at 8pm. The menu choices all sounded great- we had the tuna tartare which was fresh and served with Belle's well known bread, shared the brussels sprouts (we ran into my coworker and his wife who recommended these and they're usually not brussels sprouts fans but raved about them, so we had to try!), NY strip was cooked to perfection (medium-rare), and the truffle pasta was rich in flavor. The cocktails were delicious- dirty martini and a whiskey sour, our server Nick was very kind, personable, and attentive in a non-overbearing way! Chef John Shanesy and his team have outdone themselves with this one!

As you walk along the sidewalk, approaching the Jervey, you can tell this is somewhere special! Through the essentially glass front restaurant, you see the amazing sunburst, dandelion chandeliers. Once inside, you are greeted by polite and competent staff. The inside boasts lovely leather chairs and frame TV’s, most set to artwork. The food was spectacular and without heavy sauces that might hide the taste of the delicious food.

Great atmosphere. Great vibes. Great asthetic. Nick our server was on it! He gave great recommendations, explained things so well. We got the steelhead trout, hanger steak, fries, broccolini, onion soup and dipped the Gruyère popovers into it. Some side sauces. The wine was good. The Black Manhattan was great. The warm cookies and milk was a nice way to end. We just left happy and in such a good mood. This is the kinda place you want to make your go-to bar. They have a small table that is open for walk-in (two people) and the bar is as well. And otherwise nice seating you can reserve. Oh, also, they boxed up the food for us to go and cleared things away and checked in and filled water in a cadence that was helpful and not overbearing! 10/10!

My boyfriend brought me here for Valentine's Day since our friend is the GM and we know a few of the servers. We couldn't wait to come see what the place is like. We had an amazing experience and the service was wonderful. We could tell that everyone around us was getting great service as well. The drinks and food were all phenomenal. The Hanger steak with the scallion chimichurri was top notch. They also have this Spinach "toaster strudel" made with handmade puffed pastry that comes with a delicious truffle butter that I highly recommend! The portions that you get are pretty big for the prices, and we left feeling full. We went to the bar for a cocktail after we finished our meal and it was so fun and relaxing. If you want a fun and relaxing evening, with great food, amazing service, and a warm and welcoming atmosphere, The Jervey is the place to be! We will definitely be back!

We had such an amazing first dining experience at The Jervey. Incredible food, cocktails and service. Nick was a fantastic server and made our experience. We truly value the touches that push this place into fine dining: knowing which dish goes to each seat number without asking, boxing the food in the kitchen, etc. Cannot recommend this restaurant enough!

I picked The Jervey for my birthday dinner. This was my first experience and was very excited about going. The food was great, and the waiter was exceptional. Mark Graf of the Virginia Law Weekly commented in November that it was a great place to watch the BIG Game. It is NOT! My wife asked what I believe to be the GM if he would put on the Duke-UNC game. He suggested they only show the biggest sporting events. On the screen was a replay of the Olympics Skiathalon. When that coverage ended at 6 30 PM, he turned off the TV. The patrons seated next to us at a high top table in the bar room also asked to put on the game on that featured the teams that make up the greatest college basketball rivalry of all time, he said we are not a sports bar. I do understand that The Jervey is advertised as an upscale neighborhood establishment. Having one game on the TV without sound doesn't make the Jervey a sports bar. Our group originally had planned to have dessert and order more drinks but left to go elsewhere to watch the game. I do feel bad for the waiter as he lost out on a bigger tip. To the GM, the game was won at the buzzer and was the biggest sporting event! Your restaurant is in a college town! Stop being arrogant and listen to your patrons!
