Art Series - The Johnson (Brisbane, Queensland) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The Brisbane edition of the Art Series hotels finds itself in Spring Hill, just outside the central business district, in a mixed-use building that stands above its low-rise neighborhood. Art Series - The Johnson is dedicated to the Australian abstract artist Michael Johnson, whose ultra-saturated colors are the focus of the hotel’s otherwise minimalist spaces. The suites are handsome, and are of course full of art, and the hotel adds a 50-meter outdoor pool on its fifth-floor terrace, as well as a versatile all-day restaurant and bar, Tumbling Stone, named for one of Mr. Johnson’s best-known works." - Tablet Hotels

Stayed here for 2 nights on Christmas day. I must say the place honestly surpassed my expectations. Staff at check in were lovely and indeed throughout the stay. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was clean comfortable and spacious with a balcony. The 50m pool was a nice addition too. Highly recommended and would definitely stay again.

My overall experience with the hotel was positive. However, I do have mixed feelings and I only spent one night there. I read other reviews and I was really concerned about staying here but I had a good time and the staff was friendly, especially Jerome. He was amazing. The pool was nice and the gym was one I could actually get a good workout in unlike most hotel gyms. The rooms were also so spacious and well set up, I really liked that. Also a plus was the nespresso coffee in the room. In terms of cleanliness it was good while I was there. The floors were a bit stained in my room, but linen and bathroom were fine. Some reviews mentioned roaches and I did see a dead one in my room as I was leaving. I travel probably 1-4 times a month for work and have done so for the past 3 years in Aus and this is the first time I’ve had a roach in my accomodation… The air conditioning unit was also pretty dated but it got the job done. Overall, my experience was good, but my time there was short. I’d be willing to stay again.

The room was nice and fine it was quite spacious. I didn’t get time to take photos because we only went there for one night as our flight got canceled so we were just stay overnight to catch the early morning flight. The service was ok, i just felt that they should at least give a complimentary water bottles because we landed and we came in like late evening and along with kids, we then had to go and buy water. Even though there was a 7-Eleven store about 10 minutes walk we were already tired. The bar charges for water was quiet expensive and we didn’t use it.

The experience was outstanding from the reception to the size and states of the apartments. I really enjoyed it. The option to paint your own canvas was a nice shop. Apartments well equipped and high quality amenities. The pool was also very nice! And there is gym if needed.

Positives: staff on reception were very welcoming and helpful which was much appreciated. The room was large and nicely set out according to the hotel theme. Bathroom was spacious too, dual sinks and a functional shower. Very happy with the "kitchen" space provided which included a kettle, toaster and microwave plus crockery. Negatives: the bed was very soft and most of the pillows were feather filled - neither of which suited us at all. The television was very basic (free-to-view channels only) with no casting facility. Hotel information in the room was sadly lacking - only an out of date / irrelevant QR code on the wall which linked to the Mantra group website. "courtyard" view turned out to be a view into the car park!

This is the first time I attended an Accor hotel in which a couple of Reception Team Members wore Accor T-Shirts. This was such a welcoming gesture, considering that not all Accor hotels are consistent with Accor familiarity. The Johnson stood out immediately, and Congratulations for this. Service at The Johnson exceeded my expectations, keeping in mind The Johnson is more of an apartment-style accommodation with fewer facilities than other Accor hotels. For me, it is the distinguished hospitality of Victor, Chirayu, Celline and Glyza (all pictured) who made The Johnson stay incredibly comfortable with a feeling of we being at home. Their friendly approach, attention to details and super-quick follow-through are to congratulated. Housekeeping team members are also super pro-active. I met Rian and Yama (pictured), and they too came across as warm and approachable.

The Johnson was a great location to stay. It is located in a convenient location for less congested access out of the city area. It was close enough to the city to walk if its not too hot. Staff were very helpful and the parking is very cost effective. It was quiet, they have a Nespresso machine in the room and the fridge actually works. All in all I felt very comfortable here. Thank you for your hospitality.
