I had high hopes for The Juice Bar on Nantucket because of all the hype and the constant line out the door, but to be honest, it ended up being pretty underwhelming. The line was so long, which made me think I was about to try the best ice cream on the island, but once I finally got to the front and tasted it, it was just okay. Definitely not worth the long wait or the hype that surrounds it. The place is called The Juice Bar, which is kind of misleading because it’s mostly known for its ice cream. They do offer smoothies and a few other things, but it’s really more of an ice cream shop than anything else. And the ice cream itself just wasn’t that great — average flavor, average texture, nothing special that made it stand out. I’ve had way better ice cream in less crowded places without all the noise. I think the popularity comes more from tradition and the fact that it’s a “must-do” on the island rather than the quality of what they serve. It felt like one of those spots that people go to just because everyone else is doing it. The store is cramped, the whole thing feels rushed, and while the staff tries to keep things moving, it doesn’t make the experience any better. If you’re curious, it might be worth trying once, but if you’re looking for amazing ice cream without the hassle, I’d say skip it. The Juice Bar is honestly overhyped and just not as good as people make it out to be.
