The Junei Hotel Kyoto Imperial Palace West (Kyoto Prefecture, Japan) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"If there’s a unifying thread to all the Japanese hotels in Tablet’s selection, it has to be quality. Rarely, in this country, can a hotel — or anything else — get by on salesmanship alone. Craft is held in high regard here, and the result is a specific kind of boon for travelers: here, you occasionally find a hotel that’s quite simply much, much better than it needs to be. Which brings us around to the Junei Hotel Kyoto Imperial Palace West." - Tablet Hotels

We had a wonderful stay at the JUNEI HOTEL Imperial palace west! The environment was very traditional Japanese and was very joyful to stay in. My daughters loved the complimentary popsicle offered and the bamboo forest looking bathroom. The staff were super helpful and kind! They helped me find great restaurants near by! We spoke some Japanese to the staff and they loved it (even though it wasn’t amazing). We had the best time and really got to experience the beauty of the traditional Kyoto style! My family loved our stay and would definitely recommend it for anyone wanting to find a cute Japanese hotel to stay in.

We loved our stay at the Junei. Our hosts were very welcoming on arrival giving us a tour of our room and services. In our room there was lots of little extras like the box that would have new treats in it each day. The service was outstanding, with all the staff very friendly and helpful. The location is super handy with buses passing nearby to easily take you to most of the popular tourist sites, but without feeling like you are surrounded by other tourists such is in the Gion area etc. Room is a great size and I loved the bath which was perfect for relaxing tired legs after a long day of sight-seeing. Highly recommend and would definitely stay there again.

The JUNEI HOTEL Kyoto Imperial Palace West is the epitome of Japanese hospitality. From the moment my family and I arrived, the staff was friendly and accommodating. We especially wanted to thank Ryuji and Rie for being so kind and welcoming. ||From our in-room onsen to the futon beds on tatami mats our kids slept on, it felt like we were staying in someone’s home. The room was cozy but enough for a family with two teenagers. ||We highly recommend this lovely hotel and we would like to stay there again during our next visit to Kyoto.

Came back after six years and felt home. The room was big and comfortable, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. I loved how the place blended traditional Japanese style with modern design—it felt both cozy and stylish. The bed was super comfy, and the bathtub was great for a relaxing soak. Would definitely stay here again.

The Junei Hotel was one of the best hotel experiences that I've had in my life. The staff were so kind and helpful. Even with Japanese high standards, they exceeded my expectations. The welcome snacks in the room were amazing! I also loved the look and feel of the room. The cherry on top was the amazing soaking tub. High recommend staying here!

We stayed for two nights, though I wish we stayed more. Very big room for 4 people, nice amenities, beautiful ceramics for taking the tea, which was provided with some tasty treats. The most comfortable bed in our trip to Japan. Very attentive personal. Thank you for making our trip memorable! Would like to come back.

Absolute worst experience i've ever had at a property! ||We booked this expecting to get a 5 star treatment given the top reviews on tripadvisor and to have the true Japanese experience in Kyoto. |However, when we arrived we were shocked to say the least.||We took a taxi with our 2 children and luggage from train station to the hotel which is about 15 min drive and when we arrived the entrance to the "hotel" was so tiny and unwelcoming. The staff were clueless and not helpful and then they showed us to a room that is on the Ground Floor right next to the reception which is right next to the main door/street. It felt like we would be staying on the street basically. We asked to be given another room and to be shown a better place in the hotel and the answer was no sorry our hotel is fully booked. If you are fully booked and you are trying to maximise your profits, don't do it on the cost of your customers who have travelled half across the world to be shown a room next to the streets. ||It was also a small room (given that we booked for 4 people) and it was very claustrophobic.||At the end, we demanded a refund and made another booking at another hotel. We booked the Nikko Princess Hotel which we were so glad with and it was at a much much better location where we walked everywhere. At the Junei location we would have needed taxis to go everywhere.||In summary stay away from this property: uninviting, not luxurious, no lobby, no property space, very bad location and staff dont know how ot be welcoming or supportive.

We had an absolutely incredible stay at this hotel in Kyoto, and what truly set it apart was the outstanding service from the staff – especially Ryujin, Rodrigo, and Aya. From the moment we arrived, they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The staff spoke very good English which made communication stress free! Ryujin helped us make restaurant reservations and guided us with several local tips! Whether it was helping us navigate transportation, booking reservations, they made our stay feel personal and unforgettable. It’s rare to come across a team that genuinely cares this much.
