The Kentucky Castle

We went there to eat at Castle Farm. I learned about the castle from my favorite TV show and wanted to go during the holidays for my birthday. The restaurant has it's own chef and sous chef. The service seemed a little delayed. We were there from start to finish for about 2 hours. We got 2 drinks (old fashioned, espresso martini), appetizer (bread service absolutely delicious!), mains (friend chicken and pork belly), and dessert (mousse and apple pie). They mentioned their menu changes about every 3 months, which I like to keep you coming back and to keep it fresh. It is a beautiful place and easy to get to. We didn't see the rooms but from pictures seem very unique. Extremely clean and well kept.

We went here right before Christmas for my birthday! It was decorated beautifully for the holidays. We ate at the restaurant. Service was a bit slower but the food is incredible. Taste is amazing. We had the bread service for an appetizer, fried chicken and pork belly for a main and chocolate mousse and apple pie for dessert. Our drinks were the old fashioned and espresso martini. No complaints. Definitely an experience you need to try.

My daughter and I stayed in the Castle View Tiny Home. We celebrated her 30th birthday. We have traveled past the castle since she was a little girl. She always thought it was so amazing. Saturday we got to go behind the walls!!! She got to be a princess for a day in this beautiful castle. At 30!! Great stay. Great views. We loved it!

The hotel was decorated beautifully for the Christmas season. The room was nicely decorated and furnished. The bar and the bartenders were quite good. I thought dinner was kind of pricey but breakfast was very good. All the staff was very friendly and helpful. I really can't commend them highly enough.

Took my granddaughters for dinner. Food was fair. I expected better. We came after dark, no lights at entrance. Minimal signing directing around the property. Ended up parking in gravel lot. Even with this said, the worst part about dinner was the big brass and class door crashing closed every 5 minutes. It was thundering through the first floor. Not conducive for a relaxing dinner.

It felt like stepping straight into a Hallmark movie — especially with the beautiful Christmas decorations everywhere. The whole place was magical.||||A special shout-out to Jordan at the bar, who completely made our night. We planned to just sit for a quick drink before dinner, but he was so friendly, knowledgeable, and fun that we ended up staying and having dinner right there at the bar. He shared so much interesting history about The Castle, made fantastic drinks, and was incredibly helpful the entire time.||||This was such a memorable getaway. We can’t wait to come back!

Sasha was amazing! I felt so relaxed and comfortable for my first ever massage. The service from the time I arrived from the time I left was incredible. I didn’t want to leave. Thank you Kentucky Castle Spa for an unforgettable experience!

Michael Armistad, has had me saved in his phone as “QUEEN”, since January 2018. While deployed to Kentucky, he flew me to Kentucky. My oldest sister passed away the month before, so I had been a bit low in spirit. It was a wonderful surprise when he took to have dinner at, “The Kentucky Castle”. Everything was absolutely amazingly perfect. The ambiance was perfect! The drinks were perfect! The food was perfect! The service was perfect! Even the weather was perfect for pictures, inside the restaurant and outside on the beautiful grounds. I’ve recently updated my phone and I have a gazillion photos! I have a few that I can add now, but will add more later.

This place is beautiful. The property is gorgeous as well as the hotel itself. We spent a weekend here as a girl's trip. The pool was a highlight and walks around the property as well. We were only able to have breakfast on the property one morning because we didn't realize that the restaurant was extremely popular. While we did not mind that this was the case at dinner, it was a bit odd to not have some type of priority for guests in the morning. On our last morning they were able to squeeze us in before 9am, and by the time we left to check out all of the tables in the room (4-5) were still empty, which I understand they didn't want to seat us and then have reservations come in but it appeared that they had more than enough time to accommodate us. They also did not have an exercise room, I find this to be a big con when the price of a room for the night is so high. They mentioned goat yoga when I went down in the morning to ask, but it had already started and this was never mentioned at check in or I think a few of us would have loved to join in. I will also add that the noise in the morning can be quite loud due to high ceilings and lots of stone. I am an early riser, but a couple girls were annoyed that it was hard to sleep in past a certain time. It is also very bright in the room in the morning, but the most puzzling part, are the blind pulls are so short compared to the very tall windows we were almost unable to close them and then decided to not open them again due to the inconvenience. I will also mention that the mirror in the bathroom was not short person friendly (under 5'4") and the vanity was such a pain since that felt oversized as well. Overall, a wonderful stay, but for the price I usually expect more attention to detail and better guest experience.

The employees were amazing! The structure was very cool and my son was so excited to visit. The gardens, for the time of year were nice. The building inside needs attention. The devil is in the details. (Entry door was filthy, the baseboards were too.) Touch up the details and it will be perfect. We enjoyed our meals and our stop.

Lovely garden; the hotel is lovely. We had reservations for brunch, we had the chicken and waffles and it was a 10/10! I feel like they're food is definitely underrated. They have a nice breakfast and I was able to bring my cousin from out of town so she got a lovely experience.

We had reservations for brunch in the bar area before a rainy day at Keeneland. We started off with their Bloody Mary and the Fried Grits. The Bloody is always good. The grits and the pepper jelly were something new to us and they were delicious. I had the Hogtown Biscuit which is huge. A monster biscuit covered with gravy, country ham, fried chicken, and sunny side egg, with a side of home fries. My wife had the Open-Faced Omelet, minus the spinach salad. Both of these main courses were enough for two people. The food and service were fantastic.

Because of rain, our party moved from the roof to a large room. They had a cash bar and catered food. Everything was great. It's a new castle with beautiful architecture and grounds. You can stay in a turret. (It is a hotel and restaurant. No Medieval Times vibes.)

Cool tourist destination and lovely atmosphere. The food was just ok. The service was exceptional. We are glad we stopped by to check it out, but honestly had higher hopes for the brunch.

Beautiful location with a magical atmosphere! I visited the Kentucky Castle for an event attended by acquaintances from all over the country. Everyone, by all accounts, thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The experience is definitely my highlight of the summer. The decor and aesthetics were impeccable. The food was great. And the views from the roof were peaceful. The staff was amazing; very friendly, accommodating, and fun! I plan to return for a more personal stay and a tour.

Absolutely perfect! The Kentucky Castle is beautiful and the details have not been ignored. If you ever have a chance to visit it will be a memorable time in your life. The gardens are also lovely.

I'm reviewing this purely from the restaurant side! One of the best brunches around! Their menu is always rotating, their ingredients are always premium and fresh! This restaurant is a staple of its community, and really drives the farm to table experience home with every dish. Service here is of the highest quality, as The Kentucky Castle in general has so much to offer. The ambiance is awing, you won't find anything else like it easily anywhere. It's very modern with a nostalgic feel due to its artwork and designs! I'd recommend dining out here anytime, and very much so during brunch!

The space is very beautiful! Definitely a place I knew I had to check out the first time I drove by it. We were so excited to celebrate our anniversary here, but we were woefully underwhelmed. The best part of the meal was the bread, the rest was just mediocre. Definitely nothing to ride home about. Then came the check, which felt like robbery based on the level of food we had. The only reason they get 2 stars is based on the venue, otherwise it would be 1 star.

Incredible food, incredible ambiance, Michelin worthy service. We stayed in one of the tower rooms for our fifteenth anniversary and loved it! Special shoutout to Samuel for above and beyond amazing service. He turned a great experience into a magical one.

I have driven by the castle hundreds of times, and I finally got around to trying the menu for dinner. Here are my thoughts: Underwhelming ~ the Deviled Eggs, Shrimp Fritters, TKC Fried Chicken, and Banana Pudding. With all of these, just not a lot of flavor. And the prices here are too high to not be blown away. Outstanding ~ the grounds and interior are beautiful, the service is incredible, the Kentucky Mule was awesome, the bourbon pecan butter that comes with Toby's Fresh Bread Service was next level, and the Wagyu Ribeye was maybe the best steak I've ever had. It melts in your mouth. So, you've got hit or miss here. If you make the right choices, you're going to be amazed. The food and the ambiance will get you there. But if you pick a miss, you're going to be sorely disappointed. I'd love to give it five stars. It earns it in certain areas. They just need to shore up a few menu items and they'll be there.

The place is filthy. Over priced, under whelmed. Do not waste your hard earned money here.

I'm surprised by the poor rating of the Castle. I've been several times and each time has been better than the last. The food has always been excellently prepared and the staff has always been attentive and kind.

Beautiful!! The grounds were amazing ! Just walked around, but we will definitely go back next time for lunch!! Menu looks great.

My wife and I planned a last minute anniversary trip to Lexington. Since it was last minute and UK had home games going on, nicer dinner reservations were sparse. She asked if I wanted to eat at a castle and I said sure... A very unique setting with a hotel on the second floor and a restaurant with several different dinner areas on the 1st floor. Regardless, service was attentive, but not stuffy. I ordered an old fashioned and the server wanted to know what bourbon to use. I told her whatever the bartender thinks is best. The bartender actually brought our cocktails to us and explained his creations, which I thought was a fun touch. I don't know who "Toby" is, but do your self a favor and order Toby's fresh bread service for a starter...the pumpkin spice butter was awesome I had the pan-seared salmon and my wife ordered the filet. Expertly prepared, well seasoned and fresh tasting! But our overall favorite was the S'mores dessert! Oh my... chocolate ganache with graham cracker ice cream which was covered by a homemade marshmallow meringue. #heavenly

They call it farm to table. It was fried chicken mashed potatoes and 3 carrots. 39.99 each disgusting.

Their service must be aimed at tourists because locals don't return after a couple of visits.

Beautiful grounds and property!! We stopped in for dinner after touring some distilleries and it was the perfect end to the day! We started with the bread which they make in house every day and homemade butter. 10/10!! For dinners I got the gnocchi and my husband got the red snapper. Gnocchi was delicious and such a smart mix of flavors and textures, very fresh! The red snapper kind of missed the mark in our opinion. Service was great and very attentive!

The only reason why I'm giving this place a three star is because my 12 yr old loved his chicken and waffle. I ordered the strawberry French toast and it was cold and soggy. My husband ordered the Henderson breakfast and it was just "ok". I recommend coming for the experience to see the castle, take pics, look at the farm animals, and visit a bourbon distillery.

Four stars for ambiance and gorgeous surroundings. This is such a cool place in Kentucky! Who knew a European style stone castle existed near horse farms and bluegrass? I really enjoyed strolling through the grounds and I bet it beautiful anytime of year. We also ate brunch in the restaurant and I give that three stars. The food was good, not exceptional so really it's more about the ambiance than anything else. Our waiter was attentive but the food service was a bit slow. We ordered the blueberry cornbread for the table and had to ask where it was. The portion size for that was also pretty small. My waffles were good and i enjoyed the macadamia nuts and white chocolate on them. The bacon was pretty salty though. I would say, visit to explore it once, but it wouldn't be a regular place for me if I lived in Lexington.

Our group of 8 stayed overnight as part of our Bourbon trail weekend. We encountered a number of issues during our 2 day stay, but after contacting management, they worked with us to make it right. Keep your expectations appropriate and understand that you're paying for a unique experience, not the Ritz Carlton.

My Garden Club booked a tour with lunch which cost $60 per person. The "tour" was mostly "Hurry up - Stay together", "There's the garden - go look at it later if you want to". The luncheon was terrible - all starch (sandwiches, potato salad, Mac & cheese, dessert bars (no green salad or anything fresh from the garden!) and not very tasty. The whole experience was VERY disappointing!! Totally not worth the money or the drive from Louisville.

The food was great. Service was super helpful and courteous. The ambience was spectacular. Wonderful experience and will surely visit again.

The Kentucky castle. Aydin and Nicole were amazing! Aydin gave us some tips on where to visit. This castle, even though they say Medieval it's pretty dang fun. I love the decorations. You can actually have a fence here would be fun to get married. They also have rooms, spa, and a Restaurant. I WOULD RECOMMEND

We stayed at one of the small houses at Kentucky Castle. Our 2 year old was in love seeing all the animals outside our place. There were chicken, goats, sheep, donkey, horses, dogs. The hotel was a short walk away and just gorgeous grounds. We had a delicious dinner at the restaurant and overall a great stay!

Fabulous! Great place for a date night with fabulous food. Loved being able to walk around the farm after dinner.

Hotel was very clean, and beautiful. Everything in the hotel echoes so when the morning staff has their meetings in the morning or social hour. They wake you up every morning at 6:30-7 AM laughing and talking. After speaking with employees and Manager, they all have heard on how much the hotel echoes into every room, but they have not been trained to use softer voices, or have had the courtesy to have their conversations inside the kitchen or somewhere else. Going on vacation without our kids means we would like to sleep at least until 8 AM. Other than that food was good. If you're looking for a place to rest and enjoy the night find a different location.

Celebrated our anniversary with brunch at the restaurant. Overall we had a good experience but the service and food were slow. Like 10 minutes before we could order drinks then another 15 before our drinks came out (I got the apple cranberry mule which is a mocktail and my boyfriend got coffee). Ordering food was another 15 minutes then the food took about 25 minutes. The floor under our table was filthy, but the hostess did come and sweep it up after we were sat. I ordered the fried chicken biscuit and it was actually good. A tad bit salty because of the ham and I was surprised the arugula side was not dressed. But overall things tasted good, just took a while and had a bit more salt than I would prefer. You definitely need a reservation though. I heard a group of 4 get turned away without one.

Popped in for an after dinner cocktail. Emily made me her specialty drink, The "Chai-ning Sour". Delicious and unique cocktail, great atmosphere, excellent service. Met a great group of brothers who were celebrating a Big birthday with one of the siblings. Nice end to a Friday night in Woodford County, KY.

Came here today for the 10:30 a.m. tour and had Corban as our tour guide. My mom and I paid for the castle and the farm tour, which was $40 per person. There were another two people in our group who came from Indiana, while my mom and I are from Texas (plenty of people visit this castle from all over the U.S.). The small group made paying attention to the tour easier and had plenty of time to take pictures around the castle and the farm. There was so much history from this castle, from its inception, the time it was forgotten, and the changing of owners to its current owners. If there were no change in ownership of this castle, we--not part of the 1% riches of the richest would not be able to step into this property. But since 2017, eating here in their restaurant has been possible, grabbing a drink in their cocktail bar, checking out the farm, buying produce directly from them, and even booking a hotel room or renting our farmhouse, the cabins, or the two tiny homes. I highly recommend seeing this castle as it is unique in Kentucky and has an exciting history to listen to and experience while you have yourself as a guest here. When you take a chance here, I hope you have a great time as I did.

This was a special celebration of our granddaughter's 12th birthday. We enjoyed a pleasant breakfast in grand surroundings and then explored the Castle grounds afterwards. Our granddaughter very much enjoyed spending time at the Kentucky Castle.

Staff..... friendly Food..... mediocre Price..... egregious We made reservations at the Castle Farm restaurant for our anniversary dinner and honestly, we weren't all that impressed. It was cool to see the property, but we could've had a way better meal in downtown Lexington for the amount we spent. This was unfortunate because Kentucky Castle had been on my bucket list for years.

A beautiful place to visit and hear the history of the castle. Everyone was extremely friendly. Would visit again!

We stopped in on a whim as our Airbnb canceled last minute. Very pricey for accommodations. We got a bottom floor standard room. It did come with a nespresso machine which was nice but the room felt very lack luster otherwise. Our stay was during January so the farm section was closed down but I imagine it is very cute in the spring and summer. The highlight of this place is definitely the food. We only had breakfast there but it was amazing. Would we stay again? No. But we would stop in for a cute meal if we were in the area.

Great front desk staff and service. Dinner they were very accommodating to my daughter and her friends for her birthday.

This is such a unique place to dine. I enjoyed brunch with friends here recently. The Castle was beautifully decorated for Christmas. My meal (Fried Chicken Biscuit) was absolutely delicious. The only negative was that we waited a really long time for our food.

4/10/23 Met up with another couple for lunch and a tour of the castle. It's really such an impressive structure currently functioning as a hotel. It has a lot of acreage, some is used for a small farm with a few animals (chickens, goats, sheep), bee hives. A program with a local high school allow students with good grades and an interest in agriculture to assist with those areas. The goats are also incorporated into goat yoga sessions. When our guests arrived we walked in for our 11:30am reservation. The hostess must have been having a bad day. She never smiled or welcomed us. Checked our reservation and said it'd be another minute before our table would be ready. I wasn't going to let her perfunctory manner diminish a rare opportunity to dine with a couple we seldom get to see, let alone in such a stunning location. In just a couple of moments we were escorted to a small dining area, perhaps a bit too simply decorated. The menu was enticing from top to bottom. Our server was pleasant and smiled but not particularly friendly or engaging. By this point I was wondering if the staff were expected to seem distant, more like servants than creating a "welcome to good friends" atmosphere. I don't want to be treated as a burden so I can't give a 5 star review despite truly lovely looking and delicious meals. Our tour followed at 1pm and the tour guide was just thankfully bubbly and engaging! She seemed to be having fun herself and we had quite a lively and conversational experience. The Castle has quite a back story and she was obviously excited to be sharing it with us. Even if you can't stay the night (or more), or dine (the food was fabulous) consider getting reserving a tour, and if possible have a drink in the bar. It was a bit too early for us with a drive to return to our respective locations but I would have loved it. I would have wanted to try their own bourbon and/or their own wine. If you are looking for a venue for a special event, it's a truly lovely place.

The dining room and the tavern at TKC are always an elegant experience. The menu is consistently good and entrees are generously portioned. The ambiance is sophisticated but comfortable.

Dining experience was elegant. Food was excellent. (Chicken and waffle as well as the hamburger. ). The Kentucky breakfast cocktail was refreshing and tasty. Service was great. The grounds were interesting to walk. There were goats, donkeys, sheep to see . The building interior- was decorated for the holidays.

We spent $75 for four appetizers which were of average quality. The room where we ate was dark and dingy.

My wife and I attending the Salsa Under the Stars and enjoyed every bit of it. The appetizers were coming around regularly. The turtle cheesecake dessert cup was my favorite. We drank sangria and danced all evening. Magical!

An excellent choice for dining and staying overnight for special occasions. I enjoy the food and the ambiance of the Castle itself, as well as the farm land surrounding the area. Truly a magical experience every time. Will be back again.

Such a beautiful place! We happened to go on a Wednesday and they had half priced bottles of wine every Wednesday. The portions of food were large and delicious. This is a very unique dining experience that I highly recommend!

My family and I toured this lovely castle on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. A 20k square ft castle! Yep!! Before becoming a boutique hotel, this was the actual home of Rex and Carolyn Martin. Unfortunately, the couple divorced and the castle was abandoned for 35 years. So as you can tell there's a-lot of history surrounding The Kentucky Castle. Tom Post eventually purchased the home / castle for 1.8 million dollars. Today this venue hosts weddings , brunches , teas etc and most notably is a boutique hotel. I think with about 15 rooms. I only posted a few pics but as you can see, this castle/ hotel is definitely worth visiting or even staying at. Be prepared to pay a nice amount for a night but I'm sure it's well worth it. There's a restaurant and a bar that has some of the finest bottles of bourbon. I was told .... didn't have any bourbon samples on the tour. DARN! Our tour guide , Matt did a great job and we learned a lot in a short amount of time. Although I do think $30 a ticket was a bit pricey but the experience is certainly unforgettable! We really enjoyed it and plan to visit again in the future. You should too!

Disclaimer: I've travelled a lot to many real castles and nice hotels. This was also explored during the winter. Overall, you can probably have a much better stay in other cities, and a much better castle themed adventure in other places, but if you can only go local, it's quite a nice little luxury place to go. 4 stars if you can't travel other places :) This is a really nice hotel with a medieval castle look and a Victorian style interior. They have lovely little rooms, a nice restaurant, a nice bar, and it's a truly lovely location. The tour guides are great and the staff is lovely. Based on its location and what is available in the area, I'd qualify this as a very high quality establishment. It's not medieval or fairy tale at all, but if you're looking for basically a nice hotel it'll do. That being said, this place is quite pricey for what you get. If you're a fan of medieval castles, too, it's a big disappointment. Interior Style: 3 stars - The interior is not medieval at all. It's nice and decorative with Victorian style influence but the color scheme is rather all over the place. The dining areas and event room remind me of Martha Stewart since they're largely all white with gold and brown accents. Not the most interesting of places. Interior rooms have cracks in the paint which the tours say are on purpose to make it look "old..." not a fan. It just looks shabby. Price: Ridiculously priced for the value. I can go to Nashville city to the Leows hotel for $300 for a basic room with far more comfort, more to look at outside my room, and more personality than what I can get here. Sure, some rooms are below $200, but especially in winter there's very little to do and if the interior is meh it makes it all the more so

The castle was very clean and nice. They had great service. We went to the Murder Mystery and had alot of fun. We also went to the spa. We will go back.

The food you get from a diner would taste 10 times better than the what they are serving plus the for the food they served was not worth the outrageous prices they were charging. Half my food was burnt the other half hardly was cooked. The Head Chef would lie straight to you when have the proof right in front of him on the table. This place is not worth the time or the money.
