If you're ever in Kimberley, South Africa, the Kimberley Club is an absolute must-visit. From the moment you step inside, you're instantly hit with this incredible sense of history. The place has been around since the 1800s, and you can feel it in the charm of the Victorian architecture and the cozy atmosphere. It’s like stepping into another era, but with all the modern comforts you’d want. I was part of a group of 40, and the Kimberley Club was perfect for us. The space is large enough to accommodate a big group, but it still manages to feel intimate and welcoming. The staff were outstanding, making sure we all felt comfortable and well taken care of throughout our stay. They really went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly, and it was clear that they genuinely cared about making our experience memorable. If you’re a history lover, this place is a goldmine. You’re just minutes away from the famous Big Hole and other historical sites, so it’s perfect for exploring Kimberley’s fascinating diamond-mining past. And when you’re done with that, the food at the Kimberley Club is top-notch. From local dishes to more contemporary takes, it’s clear a lot of thought and care goes into every meal. Whether you're staying for a night or just stopping by for a drink, the Kimberley Club offers a perfect blend of old-world charm and modern-day comfort. It’s one of those spots that makes you feel like you’re experiencing something special. I highly recommend it, especially for groups – they know how to make large gatherings feel personal and memorable!

There's a timeless quality here. If you want an ultra modern hotel this isn't going to work for you but I love the historical nature of this hotel. It has good WiFi, good well maintained rooms and really helpful and pleasant staff.

What an experience! Imagine staying in a museum steeped in the rich history of early Kimberly. The lamb chops were tender and cooked to perfection

Old fashioned, I think the place did use to be a top quality hotel but now I believe it's too old fashioned. The food was really delicious though and there's alot Of history, basically like you in a museum, would recommend it for travel only ONCE!

Fabulous old worldy club with friendly staff . The rooms are spacious and beautifully original. The hotel oozes charm of a bygone era. Unfortunately, this museum and national treasure is located in the old part of town. Just to have a meal or a drink here is a special treat.

From Glory to Story, the Club Hotel was once an exclusive gentlemans club of the high and mighty, with notable visits from the UK Royal Family (late Prince Phillips) and other dignitaries. Although the location in the heart of the city is geographically strategic in historical timelines, as with many other SA towns and cities these days, the CBD area is seemingly unsafe and bears security risks with the taxi ranks nearby and much foot traffic and litter a street away. The Club keeps a lot of memorabilia, guest books, log books, old photographs and an ancient fridge in the bar room, keeping the memories alive, in store and frozen in time. It does feels like a museum, and the effort of the owners in the upkeep and maintenance of the building infrastructure and workings are to be commended. The attention to the original colonial boutique style is detailed and meticulous, with opulent chandeliers and fine paintings, capturing a bygone era of a diamond boom. ||FOOD |We were the only patrons of the hotel and restuarant when we stayed, so we received their full attention. The dinner was delicious, however my chips was not fully cooked.|||ROOMS #3|With a century old hotel, what else can one expect! We visited the Kimberly Big Hole the next day and noted that the museum display of life and living (rooms from the colonial days) could be found in real time at the Hotel, as we noted the same type of light switches, still in operation at Kimberley Club Hotel. The splendour and grandeur has faded with time, but the wealth of the history and events add to the unique grandeur building that has stood the test of time. Basking on the balcony was glorious, despite having to listen to the hip-hop loud music blaring from the building opposite the street as a dweller hangs laundry. Some rooms equipped with a fireplace, and the spacious rooms are a luxury compared to modern rooms with smaller space. The bath towels were big and well appointed.||PARKING|Is found opposite the hotel, with a white security guard who assisted us that day.|In all, an enjoyable stay.||Disclaimer: review is over a year late.....as still unpacking memories and reviews....

I am not able to comment on the food and didn’t stay over but would on the future visit to Kimberly. I was impressed by the friendly welcome from the staff who gave me a tour of the entire club with such pride and knowledge of the facilities. It is a fantastic well maintained club with a historical feel and restaurant that offered a g variety of dishes on the menu.
