Dinner for 8 so we covered the bulk of the menu. The pork scratchings starter was very unexpected, more like pork puffs that gum your mouth up. Most odd but certainly different. The frangipane dessert was unbelievable, the rump steaks were utterly perfectly cooked (my blue steak was therefore cold otherwise it would have been over). Plenty of beer choices, wonderfully tasteful decor, wonderful staff who really wanted to help make a great experience. Well done all round.

My family and I stayed in two rooms in late September 2025. This stay was so that my family and I could cycle in The Cotswolds. We really loved the Kingham Plough! The rooms were comfortable, tasteful and clean. The beds were luxurious. There was excellent water pressure. The food there for the free breakfast was the best we had while in the UK. The staff were polite and friendly. I really was impressed.

Popped in to this lovely village pub after paying a visit to my old boarding school. The pub was just opened so getting a table was no problem. They even allowed dogs indoors The food was your typical gastro pub fair but elevated in its presentations and taste. The staff were lovely, attentive and not overbearing. We would highly recommend this place for a spot of lunch. Beware, the car park is via a narrow walled archway

This was one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had. We stayed one night and were blown away by the attentive service, the wonderful food, and our beautiful room and en suite. Our room amenities were top notch and the furnishings were beautiful. We loved the special touch of fresh milk delivered to our door to go with French press coffee. (Thank you for not forcing us to drink instant!!) We ate dinner in the pub and enjoyed every bite in the cozy, warm atmosphere. And in the morning, the kitchen packed us a lovely take out breakfast so we could make a tight train connection, while also offering any drink we wanted to go. We loved our stay in such a beautiful town.

We’ve stayed at the Kingham Plough a few times over the years and always liked it, the location is brilliant and every member of staff we met this time was lovely and welcoming.|The pub food was really good again and service was great across the board. No complaints there at all.|Our room was a bit tired though the door frame was starting to rot and overall it just felt like it needed a bit of attention. Nothing major, but noticeable.|Breakfast was decent in terms of quality, but felt a bit stingy no juice, and just half a slice of black pudding, which seemed a bit odd.|All in all, we had a good stay and still like the place a lot. Just think a few tweaks could have made it really excellent.

Super village pub with a gastro side. A very nice old interior with quirky rooms at different levels. (Not great for accessibility) Staff were keen and friendly and the food was a little different but very good. Not a huge selection but enough to suite most tastes. A descent car park but it was fully by the time we left around 2pm on a Friday. However the village has free car park close by.

If I could give a 3.5 review I would. We went for Sunday lunch. Overall it was a nice experience but it is overpriced. My £11 blackberry roulade dessert was literally less then one centimentre thick. Also, bit stingy on the portions of meat which is something of a no-no. Plenty of veg but I should hope so for £22 a pop. Friendly staff, nice environment, plenty of parking so no regrets. But on balance won't return. PS - their idea of crackling was two small pieces of supermarket quality pork scratching. What Head Chef would serve that?!

Google
Food was good but service was terrible, waited over a hour with a two year old getting more stressed for his dinner by the minute. People that came in after us were served before us. They did apologise and reduced the bill. I would go back again hoping the service will be better.

Yelp
Service was terrible. Food was slightly above average. I'd stick with the Bamford establishments.

Yelp
Brilliant pub and restaurant and well run, well managed and great service. Tough audience and competitive in this superb village and The Plough pulls it off well. Highly recommended

Yelp
Lovely pub lunch. Amazing and subtle dishes. Pork scratchings to die for. Roasted pumpkin with mascarpone, seared mallard, braised red cabbage. Delicious.

Yelp
Wonderful, wonderful place. Stayed here for 4 nights, ate 3/4 of our meals here also. The absolute best part of our 3 week vacation in England. Easy drive to other parts of the Cotswolds. The rooms, though understandably small, were clean and comfy. The staff, every single one of them, from bar to restaurant to room staff, were great. Friendly without fail (even to us clueless Americans), knowledgeable and efficient, and went the extra mile for my elderly mother when she needed extra assistance. Just the absolute best. Recommended without reservation. The best.

Yelp
This place is an absolute treat - relaxing environment, fantastic staff and brilliant food. All about local produce, it's a kick-back place to settle and savour a great taste of the Cotswolds. It's not a 'forced' country pub vibe - it's completely natural. Kingham is unbelievably pretty. All lovely honey-stoned buildings, it's a picture perfect Cotswold village. Apparently the head chef is the ex-sous chef at The Fat Duck in Bray (Heston's place) and you can tell from the high quality. It's significantly more traditional than bacon and egg ice cream... The price point is surprisingly achievable for a place with such a huge rep. £8-11 for starters, £20ish for mains, £7-8 for desserts. I had to go for the snails and mushrooms on toast to start. It was deliciously earthy, with interesting textures. Perfectly balanced, and addictively packed with flavour. The hogget chop was incredible - perfectly pink, accompanied by a delicious crispy sweetbread and some roasted onions. I finished with a sticky, sweet and comforting treacle tart and clotted cream ice cream. Service was friendly and prompt. Overall this is a cracking place and I would recommend without hesitation...

Yelp
I would definitely give the food a solid solid four stars. My wife and I split a lamb Sunday roast with carrots as a side. I also enjoyed a pint of Cotswold ale (3.8) as recommended by the staff. Definitely lots of care put into the food. Nice homemade bread came to start. Atmosphere is cosy and very upscale country pub. Wha put me off was the staff who scoffed at us sharing. Call me weak, but I ha enough food just splitting the roast. On top of that everyone else we saw threw away half their food, so we thought why order too much? We also thought service was poor- especially when they asked us to wait to order. When we said we did not want puddings, the waitress rolled her eyes like we were the worst people ever. Would much rather eat at the wild rabbit any day, where they did nothing but offer great and friendly service (we even sat there for about an hour after this meal and they brought us hot madeleines for free). I wish this experience was better.

Yelp
This pub is mega-hella-charming. Like, seriously: charming like WHOAH. With the motto of making traditional food with modern methods, the Kingham Plough hits all the right chords. First point of success: delicious, and deliciously hot, coffee. Things were looking good. Things started looking - and tasting - GREAT, however, when my aged Hereford beef burger arrived on its house-made English muffin, alongside thrice-fried chips. Things I loved: - I asked for the burger cooked medium, and it was cooked medium - all butchery is done in-house - the chips were perfectly seasoned - the house-made English muffin made me wish the Kingham Plough were open for breakfast, too (I am torturing myself with visions of a muffin, egg and bacon) - the salad was interesting (little bits of radish were the secret star) and well-dressed - the servers were hyper-attentive - the extra mayonnaise provided was amazingly flavoured and textured and made me want to take a bath in it (too much?) - an overt focus on locally sourced products (the server mentioned an effort to bring everything in from a 15 mile radius of the restaurant) and special shout-outs to the homemade icecream made with Nell's Dairy Guernsey milk - for the quality of food, the prices were very reasonable Gentle points of criticism: - a little (too) dimly lit - a little chilly in the dining room - the house-made ketchup read more as a chutney or tomato jam than a ketchup, leaving my chips a little disappointed Perfect roadtrip-from-London destination. Yelp note: online reservation system, FTW! Plus, the pub dog *blogs* so, y'know, points for a social media-savvy pup.

Yelp
I have never been to Kingham and had only read about the Plough online. It was an amazing experience. Sometimes you can believe what you read on the internet! Our party of three (myself and my parents) arrived at noon and were quickly seated in a cozy corner of the dining room. The stuffed giraffe head made us chuckle. We were quickly offered a drink and those we chose were tasty. The owner/waiter told us which of the menu items he recommended ("If I were to be dining here today...") and he was correct. The pheasant terrine was stunning. All three of us ordered the Sunday Roast Lunch. Bountiful servings of venison, roast beef, and a pheasant partridge roll arrived. Cooked to perfection. The sides - roasted potatoes (the Platonic idea was achieved here) and cauliflower cheese - were also plentiful and tasty. Even so, we saved room for pudding and what a pudding it was. I recommend the Guernsey Milk and Borage (light, dreamy) and the Sticky Toffee Pudding. Throughout, service was impecable. I highly recommend.

Yelp
The Kingham Plough is a wonderful country pub. The chef, Emily Watkins, was Heston Blumenthal's sous chef when he received his best restaurant in the world award in 2006. In 2007, she and her husband took over the Plough. We discovered the place about a year later and have had many outstanding meals there. They have a couple of fireplaces, casual and formal rooms, outdoor seating, a selection of local lagers and ales, a good wine list and great bar snacks. We haven't seen the guest rooms, but we've heard from friends that they are very comfortable. It truly deserves all five stars.
