A Month on the Road With My Newborn

"In Bledington, the Kings Head Inn is sweetly situated next to a river, and the owners keep a flock of free-range Bantam chickens that have the run of the front lawn."

We had such a fantastic experience at The King’s Head Inn that we ended up dining there two nights in a row! The food was absolutely delicious – especially the steak, which was cooked to perfection and full of flavour. The bar is wonderfully cosy and the restaurant has a quaint, welcoming charm that made us feel right at home. All the staff and servers were so friendly and attentive, creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere throughout. A perfect spot for a memorable Cotswolds evening – would highly recommend!

Up until 9.48 this morning this would have been a 5 star review until we went for breakfast and were told we couldn’t have it, as we were 4 minutes late and kitchens closed. We were never informed of the early close. We were then told that they had a busy day ahead of them. After spending over £300 on the room and dinner this was not what we felt offered good customer service, shocking. We walked out and are now sitting in a lovely cafe called Cotswold Barn with a friendly welcome.

We had an amazing stay at this lovely hotel/pub. Stayed for 2 nights and went on hikes every day so we could drink and eat afterwards without guilt. The rooms are lovely, very comfy beds and clean bathrooms. Service is outstanding, everyone going out of their way to make your stay special. We loved our dinner and the pub with a good smattering of locals to give tips where to go (and where NOT to go- hint; anything to do with a certain TV personality). Highly recommended.

A jewel in the Cotswolds and now our absolute favourite. This whole place is a glorious haven of tranquillity in what can be a frantically touristic area and the inn itself is real, genuine, quintessentially English and seemingly determined (thankfully) to shun the Disney-like commercialism of too much of this wonderful region. Tucked away in a quietly picturesque village the Kings Head is pure olde worlde charm but the bedrooms are modern and clean with an extremely comfortable bed and a super-powerful shower. The staff were all friendly, professional and efficient to the highest modern-day standards. The food was excellent (we had dinner) and the multiple seating areas, including a number of outside tables in several different garden areas, made it feel intimate and special irrespective of how full the place was. Finally, as well as a beautiful village and church to wander around there is good open-country distance walking from the doorstep. In summary we simply cannot wait to find a good reason to get back here again and stay for longer.

Stayed here for two nights. Wonderful location and picture perfect village green. All staff were super friendly and always smiling. The rooms were of decent proportions and very well stocked with coffee/tea etc. We ate breakfast and dinner here and each time the food has been top notch. A fantastic base if you want to explore the Cotswolds. Feels so calm and peaceful which we all need to feel from time to time. Really was a lovely time capsule village. The pub being the heart of the village on the green.

My partner and I had the absolute best 2 night stay at the King’s Head Inn. The staff were lovely and welcoming - Dougie especially was amazing. You could tell Dougie really took pride in the King’s head and went above and beyond for the customers . It is a perfect spot to stay at as you can wonder down to the bar for drinks, sit outside in their lovely outdoor space in summer days & evenings as well as eat delicious food. Location was perfect as it is a short drive to all the popular spots / other eaterys in the Cotswolds - Stow, Bourton, Broadway etc. the village was quiet which I loved as some of the popular areas can get very busy so this was a peaceful gem! our room was lovely and spacious with a very comfy large bed and an amazing bathroom. Without question we will be back, so glad I found this place and I will be recommending it to others! Couldn’t fault it.

This is a very relaxed Cotswold pub in an idyllic village, north of Oxford. The service was attentive without being intrusive and the food, excellent. I had minute cooked salmon with samphire, tomato and avocado. Delicious. I would definitely recommend. We booked on a Tuesday lunchtime and we had a lovely table overlooking the village green.

We had a delightful stay at The King's Head in the charming village of Bledington. This quaint, sandstone inn was the perfect backdrop for our visit. Our room was quirky and comfortable, with a huge bathroom. Dinner was excellent—the beef burger and arancini were highlights. Breakfast didn't disappoint either, with a full English and more gourmet options available. The staff were wonderful, making our stay truly enjoyable.

Yelp
Terrific little spot in the Cotswolds. The pub is just about as cozy as it gets, with low ceiling, quirky woodworking, and delicious comfort food. The room was spacious and bright with a big comfy bed. They even have their own branded artisan shampoo and soap that I liked so much I brought home extras as a souvenir. But the real highlight is their capital F Full English breakfast - don't miss it.

Yelp
This is the 3rd or 4th visit to The Kings Head Inn but first stay in the older rooms above the bar/ restaurant. Once again a lovely stay, the company of 8 friends helps as well, staff all friendly and helpful. Food is good but I must admit disapointed with the breakfasts, especially the not very "full english", one of our party asked for bacon and tomatos all she got was one small rasher of bacon and two small halves of tomato, big up a bit Kings Head!!! Another albeit minor niggle is that every time we have stayed here the bill is always wrong!! Walking and sights in the area are plentifiul so we will be back.

Yelp
I don't think I have had tougher roast beef in my life! Admittedly we got there just as they were trying to close out after Sunday roast but if they did not have any good quality cuts left, I would rather they just said so. Others in my party had the roast pork and it was no better. Aside from the atmosphere, I am not sure why all the awards for this place. Even the service left more to be desired.

Yelp
A little bit more restaurant than pub but the beer selection was good and local, the staff friendly and the food was off the charts, had the duck parfait, the pollock and chips, and the rhubarb and custard...setting right be the green was quaint too.
