The Kingslodge Inn

I enjoyed a cozy stay that was made even better by the fantastic service. The meals were good value, delicious and well-prepared, which made dining there a highlight of my trip. Despite our bedroom carpet being a bit marked and a glitch with my booking points, it didn’t overshadow my experience. Overall, it was a comfortable stay, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway!

Great location. Free car park. Good price for bed & breakfast. Cosy room. Cheerful public area. Excellent food. Only downside was thin walls and unfortunately noisy people in the next room. Will certainly use this hotel again though.

Ideally located for the City Centre. WIFI was a poor connection. The bathroom had a drain smell. Probably needs a good dose of bleach down the plug hole. Room itself was adequate. Overall extremely clean. Comfortable bed. Fish and chips very good. Breakfast very good although poached eggs were not runny. Bacon and sausage roll very good. Bar area extremely cosy and decorated to a high standard. Staff very friendly and helpful. For £132 per night would stay again.

Very disappointing experience overall in a building which wasn’t getting the proper care and maintenance it needed. Not worth the price point in my option. I also gently provided my feedback directly to the staff to which they took no interest in noting or actioning change. Firstly, we got a room which was above the kitchen so could hear the staff in there late into the night. Our shower was covered in black mould which was likely due to the extractor not working. Lastly, when I called long before the stay to confirm we could bring our dog there was no mention of an additional charge to the room. A redeeming quality was the pub itself was good and food was nice. I would go back to the pub but not stay overnight again.

I had a three night stay in this modern, but quaint, hotel/inn, positioned close to the centre of Durham. The location is wonderful, within walking distance of the shops (10mins) and main tourist sites (20mins), but situated on a quieter street with a lovely parkland area just behind it. All the staff I encountered were lovely and helpful. My room was well appointed and nicely decorated, with a good standard of toiletries and refreshments. Using the Inn Collection app means you get a discount and a free drink. The breakfast was lovely each morning I was there, and I had some bar food on one evening, which was also tasty. There was a great selection of tourist information brochures in the entrance way, and a nice wee garden out front of the inn. Having stayed here, I'd be keen to try another of the Inn Collection properties.

Had a grand stay for four nights. Comfortable room. Food was good with a choice both for breakfast and evening meal. My wife needs a dairy and gluten free meal and the chef has to be commended for making this possible each meal time by 'tinkering' with what was on offer. It has to be said though that the gf and dairy choice on the menu was sparse. The location of the hotel is spot on and whilst a short walk into Durham City the hotel has a country feel to it. Staff were great, friendly without exception and attentive.

What a lovely, comfortable hotel from the bedroom to the lounge/bar/restaurant area. We booked it in order to attend two racecourses in the area. Apart from one meal out at a local Indian restaurant we decided to spend our down time sitting in the bar/lounge area. The staff were friendly, the food was lovely and the atmosphere was so relaxing. I would definitely recommend staying there.

We were here for a short 2 night inclusive break and it turned out to be exceptionally good value. A warm welcome and free, on-site parking (for guests) Our room was warm and cosy with a view over the rear carpark and was quiet overnight. Comfy double bed and flat screen tv with good reception and ample tea/coffee making. Hearty cooked breakfast and plenty of choice but dinner was the star of the show. Freshlky cooked meats/pies/fish along with great side dishes and fresh veg, puddings were a decent size and all topped off by attentive bar/waiting staff. Great selection of drinks and a welcoming atmospher along with helpful reception staff. The city centre is a short 5 minute walk into town which has lots of small shops as well as the usual chains, plenty of pubs and lots of things to do. We would recommend this lovely inn/hotel to anyone, it was the perfect break and we shall certainly be back next year, one of the best short brweaks we have had in years, 10 out of 10 all round.
