Had a grand stay for four nights. Comfortable room. Food was good with a choice both for breakfast and evening meal. My wife needs a dairy and gluten free meal and the chef has to be commended for making this possible each meal time by 'tinkering' with what was on offer. It has to be said though that the gf and dairy choice on the menu was sparse. The location of the hotel is spot on and whilst a short walk into Durham City the hotel has a country feel to it. Staff were great, friendly without exception and attentive.

Lovely inn near the train station. It’s been decorated by a designer’s idea of a cosy country inn, too generic and new to quite pull it off, but still very pleasant and comfortable. My room was a single, neatly appointed with two big windows, very clean and the bed comfortable. Now if only my daughter’s student housing was this nice! |Dinner was ok, my pheasant was overcooked and I always hate when a place charges £18.50 for a main then say you have to order a side of vegetables. The cheese plate was very generous if a bit of a dull selection. Breakfast was good. |Staff were welcoming and helpful.

KINGSLODGE INN is a traditional hotel, one with space and feels uncrowded. The rooms are a warren of corridors but that's ok. A pleasant and comfortable room well furnished in let's say established furnishings. Shower room was good but had a LED lighted mirror on and no switch off, but the cupboard in which we could store things and hang clothes next to the shower room was completely unlit even from the room lights. ||The hotel is just west of the railway viaduct and backs up into woodland. It's very convenient to get to the centre of Durham and very quiet. Parking was adequate though not reserved for guests... meaning there's a possibility of not getting parked because of casual users and diners. ||It's not 'run down' but it's mature shall we say. Bar area is the breakfast zone, plenty of space and a good cooked breakfast too. Though I have to say that saving pennies on the quality of the sausage , the most robust skin ever to encase sausage meat, is poor thinking. Compared to the sausage at Kirby Stephen previous day @the Mulberry Bush , it was chalk and steak so to speak. But adequate.|In fact ADEQUATE sums up the experience. But for what it was I think but was overpriced at £120 for two by about 15%.

A good place to go for a drink, the cocktails are nice and the bartenders are friendly however I wouldn’t recommend the food. When we went it took ages to come out and was very mediocre when it did arrive. The service itself wasn’t bad at all and they were friendly and attentive.

Nice place that is well located. Good bar with plenty of choice of drinks. Very friendly staff who made everyone welcome. Unfortunately the food was not great. Would definitely stay again but maybe not eat at the hotel.

A very nice hotel with helpful and considerate staff in all positions. Seems to be a genuine commitment to excellent customer service. Very dog friendly and a short walk into town. We'd be happy to stay again (and local family who visited us for dinner said they'd also make more use of it, having not been too aware of it).

Very clean environment and room - with basic amenities, but no less than expected for an Inn. Having visited for a meal last year I opted to stay over, and again was not disappointed.||Food was as good as I remembered, again going for the Lamb (this time on the specials). Brilliant.||The sole reason for the 4 star rather than 5 is the seemingly strange uniform policy for the cleaner, who I noticed (whilst packing my car) hoovering the dining area topless? Incredibly odd, especially because the rest of the staff were very presentable at all times - I would like to think that this uniform isn't policy for Chefs as well. Possibly a personal decision by the cleaner, but to work with the lights, and I assume doors unlocked for all to see is very unprofessional behaviour.

Great location for the station, free parking, and a short walk into the city centre. Incredibly friendly staff, decent beer at the bar, and a DELICIOUS breakfast. Room was a little small but had everything I needed – comfortable bed, decent shower, usable desk, TV etc. Bonus points for the environmentally friendly opportunity to get a free drink in exchange for not having my towels changed every day. Win win!
