Walked in without a reservation and got a table thankfully. Nice service with a smile which is always a bonus. Had some lovely food (see photos). The Sea Trout was perfect and nicely accompanied by veg. My other half had the steak and ale pie which was superb and served with really nice mash potatoes. Definitely a place to visit but book ahead as by the time we left it was full.

We had 3 rooms and all did the job. Excellent location. From person who booked us in, to the 2 ladies that did breakfast during our stay - all were excellent - friendly and helpful. No cooked breakfast and a limited cold continental, a little disappointing. But all breads and yogurts very good quality. Be warned tight steps to rooms a little challenging for me as I have mobity issues, but I managed it. |Would stay again? Yes, infection is could of stayed longer.

Went here for a family meal to celebrate our grandma's birthday. |We had to send two separate meals back as they were badly cooked and presented. Chef was extremely rude and unhelpful, and he made us feel very uncomfortable. The waiting staff were very pleasant!

Went for lunch with my two ladies! Three mains and two desserts were exceptionally good - we are only in the area for a week but will likely fit in another visit here. Good menu, a great range of non-alcoholic drinks and the young lady who looked after us could not have been more pleasant.

This place is now like a disused motel
The heating does not work It’s cold and Erie with no life in the place. It’s very scary staying here and to be honest it’s the worst hotel I have ever stayed at.
Can’t believe they have closed the restaurant and bar. I am a returning guest and not to be informed is disrespectful and disgusting. I come to a hotel so I can have a drink and a meal but not to be even get informed is discussing.
The owner has destroyed this hotel good and proper. It’s now got no heart just a bare shell of a building and I definitely won’t be returning.

Family group of 11 all thoroughly enjoyed the food and the friendly service. Great choice on the menu! The Japanese dishes were excellent. Great value desserts too.

We booked a Sunday evening meal and enjoyed our roast beef dinner very much. The powdery oat-topped pear and apple pudding was a little odd and didn't feel as if it was finished properly? The real ale from Five Kingdoms brewery was a delight (but sadly no real ale on draft was available two nights later.) The background music was pitched at a nice volume and catchy tunes all evening. The female staff that are front of house on different nights in the bar and small restaurant are all super friendly and cheerful. As with a lot of Scottish eateries there is no food available early in the week. I also always recommend booking for food as they get full.

Meal for party of four. My food was excellent standard. Two starters and dessert. 5 out of 5 for halloumi sticks, mushroom bruschetta and apple and pear crumble. Others rated food 4 out of 5. Staff were great.

Yelp
The food was great and come in substantial portions.
Highly recommended for a night out in the town of Kirkcudbright.
