I was on my usual route to work when my car passed by this establishment I've never seen before. It was a little café with a clear door that allowed me a glimpse of their cheery, bohemian, bright yellow walls. I decided to try it out the next time I passed by, and when I did... I found a new favorite café; my little psychedelic secret garden nested unassumingly (if you're not looking) along Kalayaan ave.
The Kismet Café is an organic, all-natural, earth-loving, free-spirited hippie café that also sells health & wellness goods as well as meditation beads and upcycled bags. This place is downright charming. Aside from their delightful collection of goods, including vegan cookies, kefir water and organic tea, they've got a scrumptious selection of sandwiches, and potent coffees (organic mountain blend! Ooh!) and teas.
I ordered myself a relaxing (and apparently weight loss supporting) java banaba tea and a PB&J sandwich. Because they were out of jam, one of the owners (either french or american, or I could be wrong. Couldn't pick up their accents. They both make and serve the dishes themselves, by the way) asked if I was okay with smashed berries and honey instead, an alternative I was more than giddy to try. The sandwich was delicious and healthy, a humble but tasteful serving of spread pressed between uber grainy whole wheat loaves.
I was also told that the tea bag was so potent it could last me 2-3 days should I decide to take it home. I took it home, and indeed, the tea bag held on strong for days.
I like that the setup consists of high wooden chairs and tables without back rests. The elevated, upright position I was in forced me to get work done without feeling stressed.
Did I also mention that they have a sandwich called The Full Retard? It wasn't available when I asked for it, because it had to be recalled for further experimentation as the owner said it turned out to be "a total mess." I replied "That's 'cause you never go Full Retard," and he chuckled and excitedly chimed "Exactly!!"
...Heh. I really dig this place.
