The Kitano Hotel is decent, but it’s far from what you’d expect.
First of all, we once asked for breakfast to be served in our room, and they simply refused, saying it wasn’t possible. That’s not what you’d expect from a supposedly luxury hotel.
Second, the staff are extremely rigid with their rules. During booking they say breakfast is available until 10:00, but that’s absolutely not true. They actually stop serving at 9:30. One morning my partner and I arrived at 9:40 and they didn’t even let us in for a coffee. Since when does a 5-star hotel stop serving breakfast at 9:30? It’s ridiculous — you basically have to wake up at 8 a.m. every day while on vacation just to make it in time.
Third, the breakfast itself is very poor. There’s no variety at all — you have to order from a fixed menu with only two options, and it’s exactly the same every single day. Imagine being on your honeymoon and eating the exact same breakfast every morning with no option to change or add anything, all while paying a 5-star price. And the portions were tiny! For example, I The fruit are literally
half a grape and a couple of small fruit pieces — you could eat the whole plate with one spoonful.
On top of that, we mentioned that we were on our honeymoon and asked if we could change to a room with one bed instead of two, but they said it wasn’t possible.
The staff are kind, but the hotel’s policies and overall service really need improvement. The Kitano might be fine for a quick business trip, but it’s nowhere near a luxury experience. Honestly, it feels more like economy class.
