The Kitchen on River Road

The Kitchen on River Road is my favorite spot for a breakfast sandwich — always fresh and delicious. Their lattes are great, the service is friendly, and they have solid lunch options too. Amazing pastries, and if you’re looking for steak, they’ve got that as well. Plus, there are lots of goodies in the fridge to grab and go. Highly recommend!

Can't wait to come back here - I had a lovely lunch and sat at the perfect reading spot near the window. Food was delicious, wholesome, and stayed hot (nothing worse than a lukewarm panini!). Team is doing an excellent job and is wicked friendly.

Great place to stop for a fresh, quick bite to eat close to the highway. Greek Salad is made with Spring Mix which I LOVE! Veggie Quiche has just been made and was delicious. Meatball sub was spot on. My hubby ranks the meatballs 4.5/7 on the meatball scale, lol. Great homemade potato chips and brownie was good too! Generous portions. They seem to do a lot of takeout business and have a dinner special every day of the week!

It is rare that I give any place five stars in all categories. This place is fantastic and deserves all the accolades. My only sadness is there's not a lot of area to eat in. The parking lot is also very tight and River road can be a little dodgy with traffic. Everything is great there...

Stopped here on a whim driving across the state and oh my gosh these sandwiches were INCREDIBLE! Wish we had time to circle back. We got a roast beef one that was similar to a French dip and a turkey with aioli and they were both so good. We will be dreaming of these sandwiches for a bit haha! So fresh.

I can't recommend this restaurant/bakery highly enough. What a fantastic place. Run by a bevy of charming ladies with spunk and personality. It's about a quarter mile north of Stark Park. Everything there has been fantastic. Frankly, my waistline is a bit worried... They have a wide selection of take out items. This little restaurant is part of the ownership group that runs Hanover chophouse and the crown tavern. We imagine we will be visiting here many times over the coming months.

It's Gotta be warm out in order to go nice location and views. Food was good ambience good I'll go back sometime.

This is mostly a take out kitchen for all meals. They do have a window counter which seats four uncomfortably or two nicely. I had the salmon cake with two eggs over light on an English muffin toasted. My partner had the egg over medium on a bagel with avocado and tomato. Now, even though we ate in, they served us as take out. So what we expected, from how it was prepared and served was dramatically different. The salmon cake was all salmon meat without any fillers. Nicely crusted and served with Aioli sauce. Good flavors. Eggs prepared as we instructed with fresh breads. Coffee was strong and the added plus is they have authentic Italian pastas and pastry's. The shop itself is deli style. If you want a breakfast or lunch prepared to go, grab a meal here.

This place is amazing! The food is delicious whether you're getting a panini made to order hot or grabbing something pre-made in the cooler to go there is not a single thing I've tried that I didn't LOVE! They make their own delicious potato chips, all the ingredients in their sandwiches and salads seem super fresh and high quality and the baked goods are so YUMMY! The quiche is also delicious- like I said not a thing not to love. Additionally the people are friendly and helpful and there's a family atmosphere among the staff. It's not a place where a large group can sit and eat there- only a small table is inside- it's a grab and go kinda place but it's worth a visit- if you haven't been you're missing out

I decided to grab breakfast after an 8 am chiropractor appointment. The coffee at The Kitchen is good. Half and half is kept in the refrigerated case so you have to ask for it. I appreciate they have real half and half or milk instead of creamers. Coffee is unflavored, just how I like it! It is hot enough that it does not become lukewarm when you add milk or h&h. Small is $1.50, large is $2. Good coffee! I ordered an egg and cheese on an English with ham and tomato. They make the breakfast sandwiches to order! It was very hot when I received it. Of note is that none of the four people working there had hair coverings on. Some had hair that was longer than shoulder length. It was half up half down. Not sanitary. We humans cannot help but shed hairs. Everyone was wearing gloves BUT the person waiting on me took my cash in her already gloved hand and then handled food. Not sanitary. The kitchen is open and looks very clean. I would suggest they revisit their food safety training. The sandwich was HUGE, and very tasty. They put a large amount of sliced ham in it. The cost was $8.50 I believe. They also sell prepared entrees, sides, desserts, and pizzas. They have various imported goods such as pastas, sauces, wine, Italian soda, breadsticks, French bread, and cuts of meats. The decor is very vintage with hexagonal tile work, and wonderful lighting. It is as though you have stepped back in time to a full service grocers in the 30s, minus the produce, dairy, and dry goods. Four stars because of the food safety issues with no head covering, and not changing gloves between handling money followed by food.

Great sandwiches and salads, and yummy comfort foods to take home and heat up. All the sandwich meats are Boar's Head.

Lovely place and cute store but our order was just wrong in multiple ways. I think the counter person was new, so would try it again.

On a recent Saturday entered and placed a sandwich order. Was asked to pay as the order was taken. No advice as to wait time given. Waited one half hour, no sandwich. Husband went back about an hour later and the sandwich was waiting. Unconscionable that no alert to the wait time and that the order was charged before it was entered into the queue. Will never go back.

Ordered online and had never been here before, it was absolutely delicious! The portion was huge and the inside was beautiful with many togo meals and drinks

I love this place! Such a easy stop'n'shop whether I am feeling lazy after work and want to pick up dinner for me and the husband, or if I just want to stock up on some treats/groceries! The vibe here is as if you are stopping home in mom's kitchen. The people that work here are so friendly! I have been coming here for about a year and have yet to be underwhelmed! LOVE THE KITCHEN!

Love this place for picking up salads and chicken sandwiches. Plus they have the same burger as the Crowne Tavern. Great option for food on the go and they have a great selection of drinks and kombucha.

Used for recent party of 50 people. Absolutely fantastic! Large sandwiches(chicken parm, Italian) and hot meals(lasagnas chicken broccoli pasta etc) that took all the stress of planning out of it. Staff was excellent and really helped with what I'd need to feed that many people and suggestion. A great find!

Food looks decent and has a lot of potential but it's a mess. The food safety is really bad here. Just waiting fir NY safwicg to be made I watched people preparing food after handling money, putting their fingers in their ear and handling garbage. On top of that there's no system in place, orders were screwed up and forgotten , staff was yelling at each other etc. This place needs someone who knows what theyre doing or they need to get some servesafe certifications or something. Someone's is going to get sick. Don't eat here.

I just discovered this place today & I'm in love! It's genuinely the kind of authentic home-made local spot that you just don't find anymore, something out of another time. The staff are so sweet and welcoming and the food is incredible! I got a breakfast sandwich and coffee but could not resist the homemade cookies at the counter too. At a small local place like this I was not expecting them to have options like oat milk, but they did!! What kind of place has all this AND beer & wine?!? 100% my new favorite place! 10/10 highly recommend!

Although I've driven past The Kitchen 1000 times, today was my first time there and I was so impressed! The Cobb Salad is *incredible* and huge and so reasonably priced at $12.95. Chicken, bacon, egg, avocado, and blue cheese crumbles all on a bed of greens. Everything was so fresh. Husband got a roast beef panini and couldn't stop raving about it. We will be back soon for sure!

Consistently awesome food made with care using high quality ingredients. I've ordered every panini and sandwich on their menu and they're all great with my favorites being the caprese chicken and Mediterranean chicken. BLT is great too. the salads are also good, especially southwest and Cobb. Also, they have awesome chocolate chip banana bread for sale which is always a plus. I've been here many times and I highly recommend them. I'll also add that their service is top notch and always friendly. The food is ready quickly and always on time, and the prices are incredibly reasonable especially considering the quality of the food. This is my nearby go to and I'll definitely be back many more times.

I gotta tell ya.. we were worried we were lost when we were driving the neighborhood, looking for this place. But boy-Was it worth it! Everything fresh and homemade..the baklava was the best I've ever tasted! Ah-mazing! They have delicious homemade breads and pre-made meals for takeaway as well. Stop in soon-your tummy will thank you!

HORRIBLE. Over priced!! I was excited to have a restaurant with great lineage from the Hanover Chop House and the Crown Tavern to open down the road from my house. I walked into what appeared to be a very chick, updated decor and ordered a ham and cheese sub. After a while of waiting, my sandwich came out with exactly that, ham and cheese. Nothing more, nothing less. Too snooty, pretentious, expensive and the food is not worth it. It's in the North End trying to be something it is not!

After shopping at Bass Pro shops and not knowing the area, google maps suggested this restaurant as a few miles away. We stopped for 2 sandwiches, iced coffee, cole slaw and a scone. VERY pleased! Everything very tasty and fresh. Homemade chips ! Happy we found this tiny treasure. Keep in mind: mainly for takeout, Only one table to eat on inside, we nearly had to eat in the car until someone got up at the last minute. Worked out for us.

My fiancé and I stopped into The Kitchen for a quick bite on our drive down to Boston and were delightfully surprised by this house near the river. We opted for two of their made-to-order paninis (chicken/apple and roast beef) and they were both super flavorful and SO delicious! They each came with a side of their homemade potato chips (so crisp! so yummy!) and a pickle. Honestly, if a sandwich comes with a pickle on the side, my heart has been won. I took my time perusing all of the meals to go and the selection looks incredible! Unfortunately we were on our way to the airport so taking a meal wasn't in the cards, but it seems like a great stop for a busy family needing a quick dinner!

If I hadn't yelped first before going to SNHU campus, I would've easily mistaken this for a residence. The girls behind the counter were very friendly and promptly took my order. There were nicely packaged freshly made soups and breads and homemade Spitz chips. I tried the BLT w/cheddar on a spinach wrap and it was awesome!! Took them 5 minutes to prepare. Bacon perfectly crisped and all fresh ingredients paired with homemade potato chips . I also grabbed banana bread since it looked so delicious. Def coming back!!

Wow! What happened to this business? I had not been there for several months but decided to stop by for a blueberry muffin, coffee cake and prepared meal. I had always liked their food but what a disappointment this time. The blueberry muffin was no longer the blueberry filled Jordan Marsh recipe but tasteless, dry and lacking in flavor and blueberries (I think there were 3 or 4). I threw it out after a couple of bites. I bought the meatloaf dinner which no longer tasted like "your mom's" meatloaf but made with an herb I did not enjoy. The coffee cake was not available but after having the muffin I'm fine with that. One of the cases is taken up with meat instead of salad offerings as in the past. Kind of gross. I did buy a scone which was still the same and acceptable. I spoke to a friend about my disappointment and was told the restaurant was recently sold to the owner of the Chop House and agreed that changes made were not good. She specifically cited the sandwiches. She had also stopped going there. Very disappointing. New owner needs to realize change is not always good. I gave it two stars because my review was based on my limited purchase. There may be some redeeming features.

I used to order from here almost weekly for work. The peanut butter balls covered in chocolate remind me of my grandmother. I like the location as it is not downtown and offers good parking. I've never had a bad lunch here after ordering over 100 times.

It is the quintessential definition of always-been-past-it-never-been-in hole in the wall, but good god you need to stop in! I called in ahead for their Chicken Caprese Sandwich and it was ready and warm when I arrived (short drive from downtown Manchester, a mile as the crow flies). The service was so fast that I was in there just long enough to get a feel for the place. Any longer and I would have left with a dozen of their lemon raspberry scones, just for how good they smelled. They had loafs of what looked like varying banana breads next to their one table. One table is all they need because they are so close to Stark Park you cant help but walk up the street for a picnic. Now, My Meal. Good God it was the best sandwich I have ever had. Perfect proportions of meat, cheese, tomato, and pesto. The bread was toasted just lightly and it absorbed just enough pesto to saturate it with flavor with out making it soggy or greasy. AND THE CHIPS! The house made chips, oh my god the chips, just enough to be satisfying with out over doing it. The right amount of seasoning, the perfect crunch. A thoroughly satisfying experience. They have made a regular out of me.

So after a round of golf the guys wanted to get some breakfast. We looked to see what was close and this came up. None of us had been before we pulled up and it's a small place. We entered and Andy the Owners dad greeted us. Very nice guy, very friendly. We all got breakfast sandwiches and they were the best sandwiches we all had ever had! (So good we all ended up wanting to try more). Leaving with Breads, Brownies, Salads and more. What a great restaurant and I know we all will be going back very soon!

We travel to New Hampshire once a year and always eat lunch several times at this quaint little deli. Great food and great people.

The Kitchen is our "go to" for delicious homemade lunch and grab and go dinners. Some of our favorites are the BLT, Pastitio, Avgolemono and Greek Salad but we haven't ever had a bad meal here. It's usually a challenge just to get out the door without a bag stuffed with goodies!

I really wish this place's website was easy to find. This place was several different eateries before becoming Kitchen and I really think they have found a winner here. This place is only really good for takeout and has ready to go meals. They also have a great assortment of freshly baked breads and delicious desserts. I came in after work wanting a quick meal and order the BBQ Chicken Panini along with a side of the broccoli slaw. The bread was butter, airy and nice toasted to complete the flavor sauteed onions and tender chicken. The chicken did taste a bit bland but the BBQ sauce was definitely needed. My slaw was amazing unlike the watery soggy types that you can get at a lesser cafe. The place definitely has a Greek influence with several Mediterranean options such as Greek Lemon Soup. Evidently, it's something that my coworkers were raving about and said I still need to try. Overall, they have a nice simple and clean menu without much hoopla. I think this is why they are able to focus on what they do well. Customer service was great and the take cards on an iPad which was a nice touch. I'll be back for sure.

I have been a customer here for a few years now. The food is always so good; like homemade, and the people are always warm and friendly. Recently, I needed some catering done on short notice. Cassandra and Andy went the extra mile to help me out, for which I can never thank them enough. In addition, the food was wonderful, and many guests commented on it. I shared the caterer's name with several guests who were impressed with the fare. These are great people, who make great food!

Recently moved to Manchester in the fall and have tried 20+ cafes/sandwich/pizza shops looking for a "go to" lunch sandwich place. I'm pleased to say I've finally found it here! The panini was fresh and delicious. Most certainly will be back soon

Stopped here in the morning while taking a ride on the motorcycle with the wife. They have muffins, bagels, breakfast sandwiches. We ordered a breakfast sandwich each. One sausage, egg, cheese on a plain bagel and one ham, egg, cheese on an English muffin. Everything was fresh. Two eggs on both sandwiches. $4.50 each. Great people, great food, great price. They seem to have a good looking lunch menu and dinner specials, along with some prepared food you can pick out of their coolers and bring home. I look forward to trying some of these additional items in the future.

They take forevvvveerrrr. It took so long to get one sandwich and there's only one table to sit at to wait. Everyone seemed to move reeeeeaaaally slow and there wasn't a line. The food is excellent tho and well made so maybe that's why they take so long? Homemade chips were pretty awesome. Was it worth the wait? It was maddening to watch them work but I was happy to eat the yummy food when I got it. So it was a mixed bag

This quaint and understated gem is my favorite take-out spot for lunch on-the-go. On my often-rushed lunch break, I always appreciate being met by the smiling and friendly staff, at The Kitchen. All of their food is so incredibly fresh; you honestly can't go wrong. The muffins, desserts, and homemade chips are well-worth the indulgence. I like to pick up a salad to enjoy at stark park, a quarter mile away. If you're looking for a cheap lunch, you might not be thrilled, but you'll ALWAYS get what you paid for, and more.

Let's start off by saying this is not a dine in restaurant but that doesn't mean they don't have dine in quality. I stopped in because I kept seeing them on my feed. This small place had a crew hard at work preparing what was either a lot of lunch orders or a catering job. The smells of tomato sauce, peppers, and breads was incredible. For $9 I had a delicious coffee, an egg, cheese, tomato, and avacado sandwich on an asiago bagel and a freshly grilled morning glory muffin. There is only one table that was fortunately not being used so I could watch this group work as I ate. I highly recommend them for quickly made fresh sandwiches and can just imagine that their take out dinners must be incredible. I will be going back even though it's definitely out of my way.

I travel many miles to shop at The Kitchen...Lovely, clean food with many side dishes as well to choose from....Pre made meals and scrumptious deserts. Love everything about the Kitchen. A great local favorite for lunch and dinner carryout. The lunch menu is fairly typical deli/sandwich shop but the quality is excellent; the chicken salad sandwich is a personal favorite along with their own Samoa cookies (the Girl Scouts could only hope to bake cookies this good). Like lunch, the dinner specials are fairly standard, but very delicious; an excellent option when you don't have time to cook and want to avoid the usual takeout options. Both lunch and dinner portions are large, so be sure to arrive hungry, and do yourself a favor and be sure to check out the small sweets case on the right of the counter.

Time and time again The Kitchen has provided savory lunch orders for company, client and personal meetings. The ease of ordering over the phone for delivery and pick up is a great benefit of ordering from The Kitchen. Thank you to the staff for their efforts in taking large orders in short notice! Anytime our professional organization has a meeting in Manchester, we order dinner for our attendees from The Kitchen. We usually order a platter of sandwiches, a salad, homemade chips, and always get their cookies. We have never been disappointed. Everything is fresh and has great tastes! There is not much left by the end of the evening.

My husband and I have fallen in love with this neighborhood gem. We've sampled a few different items on their lunch menu and several of their desserts - the side salad options with the sandwiches and panini are a nice change from chips and it's nice to have a healthier option. The salads are large and with mixed greens - not iceberg - nothing is skimped on from a quality standpoint. This is the type of place where everything is fresh and the owner remembers you by name and greets you warmly. I highly recommend the homemade smores cookies, the caprese panini, and the orzo salad!! There is not a lot of space in the restaurant to eat but we have really enjoyed bringing a blanket and eating a pic-nic style lunch at Stark Park right down the road. We have become faithful regulars!

Off the beaten I-93 path and well worth it. If you're off for a day in the mountains on your way up from Boston, skip the Dunk's drudgery and head to this spot. BREAKFAST SANDWICHES = AMAZING. Husband and wife owner team is welcoming and friendly (Husband at the register, wife manning the grill). We bought two delicious loaves of bread (one blueberry, one banana chocolate chip) and were not disappointed. Delicious. Also a variety of prepared meals for take out (pot pies, etc). Perfect if you're heading up to a condo or something for skiing, but don't want to cook. Find this place, make the drive, and enjoy.
