I visited the Kontiki Resort on January 10-13 for my birthday. The resort grounds were spotless and well-kept and the room was absolutely gorgeous. The food was generally good and the prices were reasonable. However, I had a few issues that took away a star from my rating: • I requested balloons and room decorations for my birthday but they didn’t arrive as planned. • The shower in my room took a while to heat up. • The door on my room was difficult to open and close. • The service at the restaurants and beach club was a bit slow. • One night, the crew was outside replacing all the cabanas on the beach so we heard loud talking and banging all night. Despite these minor inconveniences, the hotel is in a great location and offers a pleasant stay. I would definitely stay here again in the future. Oh and the music didn’t bother me at night.

Location: ideal on a beautiful beach with unbelievable snorkeling, especially just beyond the rock reef. Proximity to the mall next door gives a myriad of great food options and a great dive shop in Ocean Encounters. They were amazing.||||Atmosphere: Club atmosphere oftentimes filled with incoming cruise crowds so pretty fun and great for people watching.||||Rooms: Beachfront Suites (004) - Beautiful but pretty dark even with shades completely open. Mosquitoes are a bit of a pain on the deck. Very loud 2-3 nights a week during beach events...like concert in your room with fireworks included :-) There are ear plugs and masks provided but masks aren't needed because of great blackout curtains. Ear plugs are a must and used speaker as sound machine throughout.||||Service: Not terrible but what I would describe as not very proactive. Even in VIP section of the beach section, most of the time had to go to the bar to order drinks and try to get servers attention rather than having them check on you. Common expectations in the states or other Caribbean destinations but here where tips are not expected or sometimes even welcome, service is lacking if you're expecting proactive service. ||||We had trouble with consistent seating in the VIP section as a suite guest throughout our stay as rules seemed to change from one day to the next as to where we'd be seated.||||Also, our VIP private shuttle to the airport was 45 minutes late to pick us up. Made leaving pretty stressful.||||Cleanliness: On the surface, everything was very clean...especially in our room. On the beach, there's a row of hedges between the VIP section and the rest of the beach literally filled with garbage pushed deeply into the hedge.

Great hotel...excellent room with an incredible view...overlooking the water where one can enjoy a beautiful sunset! The food is also very good and the beach staff is fantastic!! I want to give a special thanks to hotel managers (Naomi and Raksha) who went out of their ways to respond to an issue that my husband and I had. Congratulations to their professionalism, it sure made a difference. I also want to thank our housekeeper who took great care of us. We sure would like to go back!

Celebrated my 30th birthday here! The minute I got there I felt the love!!! Beautiful place with such pleasant people and views!!! Mayron was my welcome guest representative and he left such an amazing impression on me & even made my stay better any way he could! 10/10 experience

Our stay was wonderful, the room was comfortable and the amenities were spectacular. Beautiful beaches and the restaurants were delicious. We especially enjoyed the Wednesday night dinner & show at Cabana. The staff were sometimes helpful and sometimes not, but Christy stood out from the time we arrived. She was accommodating and kind and had a warm, welcoming energy. Overall a really positive experience!

Really beautiful hotel, a lot of nature, greenery and flowers. Water im pool worms and very clean you can really enjoy time be in this hotel. Room was ok , nathing special, IC was mat strong to cool temperature in room also service nat really clean room good . They work so so slow and never was clean. The hotel beach was always crowded with lots of tourists lying next to the beach lounger. Im nat sure i will chose this hotel next time.

During our one-week stay, room service was provided only twice, which is far below reasonable expectations for a hotel of this category.||On New Year’s Eve, guests were not allowed to access outdoor spaces or walk on the beach, which was particularly disappointing given the location and the significance of the evening. All venues were fully sold out to tourists from other hotels, with no spaces reserved for hotel guests. Restaurants were also fully booked every night, again with no availability or priority for guests staying on site.||It took over one hour to obtain a single beer on the beach. Attempts to contact the front desk went unanswered, as messages were not replied to. Basic amenities were lacking to the point that we had to ask repeatedly for coffee refills for our room.||Overall, the level of service, organization, and guest consideration was extremely disappointing and did not meet the standards advertised or expected for this property.

The resort itself is incredible, with amazing food and beautifully maintained grounds. However, most rooms—except for the luxury villas—are not ideal if you want a good night’s sleep. The club music can be heard directly in the rooms, and the beach has unrestricted access, which can make it feel unsafe at times. Unfortunately, customer service is virtually non-existent and unhelpful if any issues arise. Overall, I would recommend Kontiki only if your goal is a beautiful setting and relaxation during the day, but avoid staying in standard rooms if you value a restful evening.
