Hubby and I came to Canmore for a little romantic get away and we chose the Lady McDonald Country Inn due to the charm and character! There was plenty of cheaper hotels but this place looked fun, here’s my thoughts. ||It does have the small country in charm! From the no boots allowed past the entrance, to the quaint older furniture, and lace table clothes in the dining room. It ALSO has a nice new second story outdoor hottub with amazing views that we used every day and loved!! So to me that’s a good mix of modern and rustic. ||The breakfast was delicious and so nice to have free cooked to order breakfast every day, and they were very, like VERY, accommodating of dietary needs. ||We booked the 3 sisters room due to the windows and view, jetted tub, king bed, and fireplace. My reviews on this are mixed - we paid a fair bit extra to other rooms, and were informed on arrival that the fireplace didn’t work. 4 out of 5 of the lace curtain toppers were fairly badly torn. The furniture was both ripped in one spot, and actually threadbare. We were right by the hot tub which was lovely, might have been annoying if there’d been partiers there. Due to that we didn’t even use the jetted tub. King bed was amazing and comfy. View was second to none. Location perfect. ||So overall, good, but being one of the more expensive 1 room stays in Canmore at the time,|It definitely needed some maintenance done.

Where do I start! My husband and I had the most lovely time here. Everything about this sweet place was such a blessing. The charm, staff, amenities, cleanliness, joy - everything! My hubby enjoyed the sauna very much, too. We really liked how you couldn't wear your outside shoes inside, that was a nice touch and helps keep things clean! We stayed in the Cascade room, and all the windows were such a heart with the mountain view! The breakfast was also a sweet perk, and it was very well done. Already can not wait to go back!

Fantastic breakfast, hot tub is lovely, room was clean and comfortable, maybe some very minor repairs needed to the mystic room but nothing to really complain about. Overall great stay, pleasantly surprised. Excellent value. Breakfast bar has cereal , smoothies, toast , juice , coffee and an excellent variety it teas. Daily breakfasts were: 1- granola and yogurt to start and then a fried egg with bacon, hashbrown and toast (homemade bread). The meat and eggs seemed local to me but I didnt ask. 2- chia pudding to start and then a bagel with tomato, spinach , ham and egg with hollondaise (gluten free bagel was provided and great). 3- egg salad spread on toast to start and then waffles with berries and whipped cream. No gluten free waffle available so they made me scrambled eggs and toast. The GF bread was homemade as well and so good!!!! We loved all the meals, they were excellent, fast and so convenient!!

Beautiful, well appointed inn that we will come stay at again and again. We stayed in the Mystic loft with our newborn. The room is a tad tight for space but it is beautiful and has a view of the mountains, and there are blinds for the skylight. They offered us a crib immediately on check-in. The room was relatively quiet but if you are a light sleeper be sure to sleep in the loft, where hallway and neighbour sounds are dulled. You will still hear the train, but it’s not that loud. The Inn provides a hot breakfast in the morning; everyone is served the same meal, but you can request adjustments for your dietary preferences at check-in. They have hot beverages available 24/7, and a fridge/freezer for all guests to use. The wood burning sauna is such a treat, and so is the rooftop hot tub. Make sure to book your sauna time upon check-in! The lobby has a cute wooden train set and Peter Rabbit books.

We had the most cozy and comfortable stay! The staff was very accommodating when we had a late check-in and our room was completely prepped and ready for us. I especially loved having a cozy robe. The dining area had all the things we needed for a great start to our day. The breakfast paninis were delicious and I enjoyed the wide variety of teas. The most memorable part of our stay was the hot tub. The view was amazing! The inn had all the comforts of home and we can't wait to come back! I'm still gushing over our stay and I'll definitely be telling everyone!

Lovely country Inn atmosphere. Each room seemed to be individually decorated. We had a fireplace in our room. Try the sauna and the hot tub, we enjoyed both. It’s a set breakfast, not one I would’ve chosen. Would certainly recommend you visit it.

Sister-in-laws weddings were taken place in Canmore in January 2025. Photo taken in middle January 2025。 It is very closed to Canmore ranch by driving . The room is absolutely gorgeous and spacious. We reserved the heart mountain room . This setting is ideal for families of four (with 2children ) . It feels like a grand suite in a fairmont hotel setting. The steam shower was very comfortable in the winter to keep you refresh and not worried freezing up during shower time. The main room has Kingsize bed, the smaller room has a twin bed and set up for us for a roll-away bed for 2children . And for our surprise , this one also had an office den/ living room . Parking is a minor inconvenience due to tightness of the stall . That’s the reason for 4 star for location . Staff are fantastic and always in top of everything, house keeping , refill water in the cooler in the open kitchen area.

Lovely place to stay. Very comfortable and “homey” feel. Service was top notch. Centrally located and easy to get to. Parking is tight for a larger vehicle but definitely not a deal breaker. Breakfast served in the morning was delicious. Will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
You guys we stayed here at this cute little bed and breakfast for my birthday and I could not have asked for the most cutest place. Banff is a very expensive city to explore. And staying there is no different. We chose to stay in Canmore which is about 20 minutes away from Banff, still very pretty and more affordable. This bed and breakfast offered the cutest home made breakfast every morning and they did have vegetarian options! The food may look plain from the pics but everything we ate was good and just felt very comforting and homey. I enjoyed my stay here, I loved that it seemed like it was family owned and I would definitely recommend others to stay here too!

Yelp
The room came with internet, a clean bathroom, many towels, a TV w/cable, and desk. Cozy. Parking was right behind the B&B. The check-in process was slightly tedious due to issues with the printer or system, but it was remediated pretty fast by friendly and warm staff. There was breakfast included - freshly made paninis, chia seed pudding, coffee, juice, and fruit. The hours for breakfast are a little later than what I would have preferred, given that most people travel to Banff for attractions or hiking earlier in the morning. There's a shared fridge in the dining area. Your total cost will be room + GST + tourism levee. I believe our room rate was $185/night and we booked it months in advance. We decided to stay in Canmore for our trip to Banff during the last week of May because Canmore was suggested to us as more cost-friendly. To be honest, we did not do a full evaluation on whether that was true, but regardless, this B&B did not disappoint.

Yelp
Very comfortable Inn with a full, delicious breakfast and very friendly helpful staff. We had an exceptional view from our room and the location is very centrally located.

Yelp
I don't have a lot of experience with B&B's. It's not that I have anything against them (quite the opposite) it's just that I'm the kind of guy that's looking up places to stay on his smartphone, on the hwy (I'm usually not the driver, relax), at 1am, within 5 minutes of the off-ramp. You can't really do that with a B&B because you're going to probably wake someone up and raise a ruckus, not to mention you won't know the "secret key location" for late arrivals. (a hallmark B&B feature) For a recent ice climbing trip to Canmore, this wasn't so much an option. My carrier (Verizon) rakes you over the coals (this is the most G-rated euphemism I could think of for what they do to you) for using any data in Canada. So my climbing partner ended up doing some research and we found this place. It was AWESOME. After a day of climbing it felt like we were coming "home". And every morning we had amazing and unique breakfasts. Breakfast is to me as praying to Mecca is to Muslims. It's important, I feel lost without it, and it's ritual. I cannot stand the influx of "continental" "breakfasts" at hotels that pretty much consist of gas station food and recently de-thawed orange juice concentrate...and maybe some sulfury hard-boiled eggs. Ugh, blasphemy! The owner...let's just call him an Inn Keeper because that sounds more like what he is...is incredibly, incredibly gentle and kind. Probably one of the nicest souls I have met, maybe ever. He is polite, even for a Canadian, and is always wearing a smile.

Yelp
Okay so this review is late but better late than never. This bed and breakfast was so adorable. I loved the decor and even though it was older the room was a great soze and the bathroom more than roomy enough for me to spread out everything i needed to get ready for a wedding :) The staff were wonderfully accommodating when we had to change or reservation a week before we arrived and were super nice and friendly while we were there. Too bad we only stayed one night but we will certainly check out their charm again when we need to return to Canmore.

Yelp
My fiance and I stayed here on New Year's Day and it was exactly what we were looking for. The room had a beautiful fire place and hard wood floors. The room had lots of character as it has older furniture and a great bed. The bathroom has a two person jet tub which we made use of as well! The breakfast they served us was phenomenal. Waffles, sausages, cinnamon bun cake, and a delicious fruit smoothie. The decor for the breakfast room and the lobby was beautiful too. I understand that the place is under new ownership and we found the staff to be very friendly. I would defiantly return to this place for another special romantic evening.

Yelp
My wife and I adore this B&B! We've been staying here since 2002. The service is exceptional. The breakfast is tasty, original and generous. The rooms each have a signature charm. Occasionally you hear the train go by. Walking distance to downtown Canmore and a 15 minute drive to Banff. And the new proprietors, Perry and Valerie, are wonderful! Lady Mac is in good hands.

Yelp
Our family commandeered the whole 10 rooms at the Lady Macdonald for an intimate celebration of our parents' 60th anniversary. From the first step in the door we felt that this is what a real B&B feels like. Hate to be cliche, but it did feel like we're in a Bob Newhart episode. Each room was as charming as the next. With either a gas fireplace or stove in each room, private full bathroom and comfy beds, linens and pillows, cozyness was guaranteed. The front lounge area is a great place to sit by the big beautiful log fireplace and read a book, or have wonderful conversations with lights from the wraparound veranda twinkling in. The dining room was intimate and the breakfasts were to die for. Val and Perry have certainly got the whole experience perfected! Although we were a group of 22, I can definitely tell that even a single guest visiting on their own would feel comfortable.

Yelp
Pros: There's a lot. First of all, breakfast is DELICIOUS! Wow. All homemade, and they have gluten-free! And not the dry, no-taste kind of gluten free. I mean homemade amazing gf, yum! Not to mention it's not some continental breakfast muffin and cereal, you get a hearty meal to start the day. Rooms are fairly small, but adorable. Great mountain views! Super friendly staff, and bonus afternoon treats! Good price, especially considering that breakfast is included. It's also kept very clean. Good location, walking distance to downtown. Free wifi. Cons: Nothing major. Decor may not be for everyone (see the pics on website - I think its pretty cute though!) and it is near the train tracks for light sleepers, but they do provide ear plugs. Overall: Definitely recommend, such a cute little place to stay in Canmore! And you can't beat the food :)
