I traveled down to Essence Fest for a 1 night stay and was greeted by the lovely Jenn who was extremely friendly & helpful with early check in as well as directions to parking and the Superdome. I absolutely loved my room, the suite was spacious but most importantly very clean! This property definitely exceeded my expectations. Check out was smooth and easy as well. The courteous guest agent (didn’t get name) with the green eyes, glasses, and Afro assisted with brunch recommendations as well as stowing my bags and providing an umbrella. Loved the property’s charm and aesthetic . I had a wonderful time for a short stay!

It is an absolutely stunning hotel. It is prime real estate location right by beside the Lafayette square and only a 10 minute walk to the French quarters. It really stays true to the traditional New Orleans style. It’s a nice sized brick building with a facade that enhanced by a series of curved pediments. As you enter in feels like you’ve stepped back in time with a such a grand foier, the walls are accented with such symmetrical facades, columns. Then you are immediatly drawn to this beautiful staircase with gold elevators on either side, the stair case leads you into a fairly narrow colomn that is adorned by mirrors and gold accents. It also smelled so good all the time. I wish I knew what home fragrance they used. The rooms did not disappoint. The rooms were decorated with French, Victorian and Spanish influences. Best of all the balconies that New Orleans are famously known for are accessible to guests that are lucky enough to get one. The staff at the front desk gave the warmest southern hospitality. Checking in and out was quick and easy. This stay felt like a steal. My fiancé and I were very pleased and would absolutely love to stay here again.

A Perfect Blend of French Charm and New Orleans Southern Vibe From the moment we walked through the door, we were swept away by the southern charm of this hotel. The beautiful staircase in the entryway set the tone for a stay that was both elegant and welcoming. The entire property was spotless, and the check-in and check-out processes were smooth and effortless. The staff was incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home. One of the best things about this hotel is its location—just a 5–10 minute walk to all the main attractions, yet far enough away to offer a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city. A big bonus was being able to store our luggage after check-out, allowing us to enjoy our last day in New Orleans without any hassle before heading to the airport. This thoughtful touch really made a difference. Highly recommend for anyone looking to experience the heart of New Orleans with comfort, charm, and convenience!

Stayed here for Essence Festival. Great last minute hotel. It was extremely quiet, so much so that we never saw another hotel guest for the two days we were there. Fair warming, the hotel restaurant is under construction and wasn't available. The rooms were spacious but it's an older hotel and it didn't have a closet, iron, ironing board, or hair dryer. The water in the shower also didn't get hot quickly, we had to wait on that. There is off site parking around the corner. Check-in was rather easy.

We had a very nice experience at Lafayette. Our room was clean & the toiletries provided in the bathroom were really nice. I have read some reviews regarding the lighting and personally I didn’t have an issue with the lighting. The bathroom was well lit and the room had wall sconces, a desk lamp and a floor lamp plus many windows. The balcony was cute. The person and the desk was so nice and very helpful! Would stay again.

Google
Had a lovely stay at Lafayette New Orleans. Very nice front desk staff. Quiet, clean, older hotel with character and charm. Great location right on the Charles St. streetcar line. Not far walk to Riverwalk, St. Patrick's Church, WWII Museum, and many restaurants. We walked and took streetcars everywhere and had a marvelous time in this great American city. A lovely place and we highly recommend!

Google
This was an absolutely wonderful wonderful stay and experience overall. The hotel is beautiful with Southern charm and modern amenities. Mezzanine level with restrooms and ice machine is a nice touch as well. Extremely convenient location about a 15 minute walk to the French Quarter, original you can take the trolley that stops right in front of the hotel. Close enough to the action, but far enough to get away from it. Also a couple blocks away from a full grocery store so you can stock up on trip essentials without paying tourist prices. 24 hour staff were super nice and extremely helpful as well. Overall I cannot say enough good things about the Lafayette and highly recommend it if you are staying in the area.

The hotel and staff was amazing. I booked last minute. I got a great rate on Booking.com. Easy check in. I arrived early they held my bags while I explored the city. The bed slept so well. Furnishing was aged but nice.

Yelp
This is recently under new management and it's currently going through a rough patch. It was a very difficult stay. I don't want to put any details (there were many issues). I just hope they will straighten up things quickly so people can stay comfortably. I don't know how long that might take, so if someone is booking this property now, you are taking a risk just so you know. I didn't give one star because the staff at the front desk was very helpful and she was as frustrated as we were because of the new system being in place.

Yelp
After doing some research online, I selected this hotel because of its proximity to everything we wanted to see/do during our quick trip to New Orleans. The hotel was within walking distance of some great restaurants and shops in the CBD (central business district), the superdome, and the French Quarter. This was important to us because we were without a car for the duration of our trip and didn't want to rely solely on public transportation or ride shares. There were also a few federal buildings nearby as well as a small public park that were well lit and had cameras so it felt like a relatively safe area to stay. This historic hotel has a turn of the century charm to it, with many original details still in tact. The rooms were spacious and had been updated recently, and the beds were comfortable. The hotel is in the process of switching over to a Wyndham property, so I would imagine there will continue to be more updates to it in the near future. The lobby, front desk, and elevators were all much smaller than a typical hotel, but had a certain charm to them. Stop #8 of the "hop on hop off" double decker sightseeing bus was right in front of the Hancock Whitney building one block away, which took us to the Garden District, the WW2 museum, and several points of interest in the French Quarter like Jackson Square, Louis Armstrong Park, and New Orleans cemetery #1 - which proved to be an easy way for us to get around the city and explore. Pro tip: there's a button at the check in desk that calls a cab for you, it was a flat rate of $36 to get from the hotel to the airport, which was almost $20 cheaper than using a Lyft or Uber.

Yelp
This hotel is not managed by LuxUrban anymore. I cannot tell you how disappointed I am with the new Kasa management! We have stayed here for the last 5 or 6 years but no more. No more customer service! There was no telephone or way to call the front desk. Virtual right? Someone was sitting there just to check people in. If you needed something, you had to call the Kasa number. I hung up after 35 min one time. No security during Mardi Gras! Anyone could have roamed the halls and I did not feel safe. No parking across the street. Instead you park a block or two away in an unsupervised garage. My car was backed into and no one there cared. No bellman so you had to walk the distance with your luggage. No housekeeping for 7 days. We ran out of towels everyday and had to track down a housekeeper for more. Garbage & linens stacked up and the floor was filthy. NEVER AGAIN!!!!

Yelp
I stood at this hotel for a stay to enjoy Nola for their dynamic culture and delicious treats. Despite the things I was seeing upon this app, I went out of my way to disregard the poor reviews and boy was that a mistake. When I arrived I was greeted to a great staff that took care of me and my lady and actually moved us up a class into a suite which was very nice until I started running into the very problems that former customers ran into. The room was a blast from the past with a poor wifi connection to go along with it. Just like another reviewer said, the drainage in the shower was very poor so Ofcourse I called about the issue to no further action taken. Even after that, my frustration was taken further after my room was not visited once by the cleaning lady! Another thing to note was the amount of leaks that covered the building which felt abnormal and left a very bad smell in the hallways and elevator which was unbearable. And to top it all off I was CHARGED 3 TIMES for my stay. Absolutely unacceptable and despite being moved to a suite, it still deserves a 1 star review. Not worth the troublesome experience!

Yelp
Do not pay this hotel up front. I reserved a room for Dec. 19-21 2024 in January and paid in full. I cancelled in September, 3 months before the cut off date to cancel. They refuse to refund my money. I filed a complaint with the BBB but they wouldn't even respond to them. They claim that they are no longer The Lafayette by Luxuban but even now if you go on their website it says The Lafayette by Luxuban. My cancellation confirmation says The Lafayette by Luxuban. They won't refund my money. Beware

Sofia P.

Yelp
It's a nice hotel, great view , beautiful, and the cleaning staff are friendly. Only two downsides were the carpet in the rooms were sticky and rooms are not cleaned as regularly as we would've liked. Overall not bad it is a 20 minute walk from bourbon street so fairly close.

Yelp
The check in ladies are amazing!! The room is older but clean beds and comfy beds! The room was warm when we got in so we turned ac on and it took a moment to kick on but it's an older hotel but when it kicked on it was perfect

Wendy B.

Yelp
This hotel could be amazing! It has beauty in and out. When we arrives Mack at the door was so friendly...he showed us to the front desk. The person was not there, and did show up until 15 minutes later. She didn't even say, "sorry for the wait, welcome to the hotel." Which you want to hear! Nope, we got, "reservation," "I.d." Gave us our room number and card, and that was that. Sorry we got in the way of your cigarette break!! The room was ok! There wasn't really a lot of hot water, but warm is just what you want when you are dripping of sweat. They did come and change sheets and towels everyday, which was nice. There are many options when it comes to hotels there, and when we go back, we will be getting a different hotel. I do have to say that the guys outside are amazing, and the staff that were on after this one lady were great as well.

Yelp
TLDR: bedbugs and extremely poor management. Don't recommend. I stayed at The Lafayette on August 31st. I booked directly on their website after a friend suggested staying there, I was excited to try it out. The ladies at the front desk were very nice and pleasant, and the valet drivers out front for the restaurant were as well. The room was fine, seemed clean and the location is nice as well. However, the walls are thin; the neighbors next to me were going through a very messy breakup and I heard it all. An additional note: the streetcar line is right out front and can be noisy depending on the location of your room, but I had earplugs so it was fine. However, I woke up at 6am feeling something crawling on me. I absolutely hate roaches, and I promptly freaked out assuming in the dark that's what it was, but I was wrong. It was a small bug that I'd never seen before, but was 99% sure I knew what it was: a bedbug. I grabbed my earplug case and scooped it inside and snapped it shut. Then I googled bedbugs and yep, that's what it was. Then I did what I SHOULD have done upon entering the room: check for bedbugs. I found 2 more easily just underneath the top sheet that was acting as a fitted sheet. I scooped one of the smaller ones into the same earplug case and promptly packed my stuff and went to the front desk. The shifts had changed and the lady at the front desk was not the same as from when I checked in. I said, "Hi, I was in room #xxx and I woke up with a bedbug crawling on my back. I'd like to speak to the manager to receive a refund please", placing the clear earplug container on the desk. She said, "Oh wow, we don't have bedbugs! We've never had bedbugs!" *The building has been there since 1916, I'm pretty sure at some point in the hotel's history there's been a bedbug.* She then asked, "Do you just carry this little container around with you?!" to which I said, "no, this was holding my earplugs, but you can have it for proof." She came across as implying that I brought in a container of bedbugs to try to get a free hotel stay?! I was pretty flabbergasted. She proceeded to tell me the manager's name (Bobby) and said he would not be in until 10am and she'd have him call me. I asked for trash bags to put my bags in and cover my car seat with and she asked me to put the tiny earplug case into a trash bag because she didn't want to touch it. I left and expected to hear from the manager by 11. I didn't hear from him so I instead called him. He told me he knew about the situation but that they were following their procedure of waiting on Servpro to come out and check the room first. *So apparently there IS a procedure in place for these -nonexistent bedbugs- that the hotel has never had.* He said they were coming within the hour and he'd call me back. He didn't. I had to call back again later and he said they had only found 2 big ones and 3 small ones, (unsure if that included the 2 I caught for them?), so that isn't an infestation or anything and that one of the past guests or 2 had brought them in. (Anything with a SINGLE bedbug is an infestation in a hotel room?!) And that was it. There was no "I'm sorry for your experience", no offer to clean my things, no offer of a refund, he didn't say anything. He was just quiet like he expected me to say ok and hang up. So I said, "can I get a refund, please?" He replied with, "well, how long was your stay?" Me: "1 night". Bobby, "uh, sure, we can do that." That was September 1st. It's now September 20th and I still haven't been refunded. That's ample time. I've called back following up multiple times. My husband has called as well. Nothing. No refund. The management is not concerned with their guest's experience, so, in short, just don't stay here.

Yelp
. Update as of Sept 24-the hotel contacted me and expressed their regret. They showed genuine concern in improving their service. Self reflection and honest intentions to improve is something I really appreciate. Thanks for your concern

William A.

Yelp
Canceled reservations within time to get a refund. I paid over $600 for New Years hotel and receive email I would get full refund. It has been 5 months of trying to get money by calling, email etc. I eventually got a response and they said I would get a refund shortly that has been 2 months ago. Now no response. I have learned my lesson DON"T TRUST WYNDHAM hotels. Especially this one that seems to have no one able to answer the phone.

Yelp
Nice old historic hotel. Small rooms that are well appointed. Staff seemed somewhat indifferent. They were hosting several parties that seemed to be their top priority, not the hotel guests. But the parking situation was a fiasco. some people received valet parking, some got complimentary parking in the lot across the street, and some were directed to a parking lot several blocks away.those who parked several blocks away had their cars booted by the police and broken into. Of course the hotel paid for the booting fee, but the tremendous inconvenience on a busy work day far exceeded any monetary loss.

Yelp
Over the years. I have been to New Orleans on many occasions however this is my first stay at the historic Lafayette Hotel. Staff is kind, rooms are quaint, beds are comfortable and the price point was awesome. You are within walking distance to the Superdome , Bourbon, as well the many dives and restaurants that are in the city. The only thing to be aware of, if you're a light sleeper, the street noise. You're in New Orleans right? So obviously it's going to be busy 24 hours but you can hear literally everything happening outside. This might not be for all but I would definitely book here again. Hope this helps!

Cliff G.

Yelp
Horrible service. Waited 20 mins to get a drink. Left went across the street. Got a drink in 5 mins

Marie K.

Yelp
Really it's 0 stars. We stayed here 27 years ago and it was a cute, quaint, antique hotel. I think they have the same towels they had 27 years ago. The sink and tub do not drain very well. We left around 11:00 on Saturday and came back at 5:00 and our room had not been cleaned. When I called I was told housekeeping had gone home for the day. We basically had to beg for clean towels. I was told it was my fault because I had the do not disturb sign out until we left at 11:00. When we asked to speak to the manager we were told he is gone and didn't know when he would return the next day. Very poor customer service. I would not recommend staying here.

Maura B.

Yelp
Arrived after a long journey to a sign that basically said "we have stepped away for a moment and will be back shortly." Waited 15 minutes before we called the 800# on the website and suddenly someone ran in from down the street to check us in. The entire 3 nights we stayed there I never saw anyone at the front desk. Just the same sign and some dirty towels. My husband is not internet savy and called the front desk asking where the nearest corner store was and was told to "google it" and was abruptly hung up on. Safety is questionable as there was never anyone on site. There is a key required to enter after 10pm but the way the door is designed that function was not enabled. Location is awesome.

Linda M.

Yelp
Great location but ours was a dismal experience. We checked out and went to another hotel. The last night was supposed to be credited per customer service, as we called to cancel before 3pm on the previous day, but we were charged the full amount. One room was not ready at check in. The clerk on duty late afternoon said she couldn't tell us when it would be ready and was very hateful. We had 2 rooms and were told we'd be on the same flr, but that was not true. Friend was on 4 and us on 6. Clerk informed us when she gave us the key there was construction on flrs 5&6 and we'd have to take a separate elevator to get to 6. There had been a flood on the 5th flr. We had to get off one elevator on flr 5, go down the damp hall on flr 5 around some big floor fans and then take another elevator to flr 6. We have asthma and finally couldn't breathe after a few days. Our friend on flr 4 had gnats. However, everyone but the one clerk was very nice. Kevin, who helped us with our bags was extremely nice and helpful.

Yelp
Hotel is a great place to stay in New Orleans. I would like to thanks the staff, especially Paul, Terica, Kevin & Arlix for all their help and hospitality.

Yelp
PROS: Close enough for waking to French Quarter, museums, coffee shops, or conference center. On the St Charles trolley line, so it's easy to jump on if that's of interest to you. Friendly staff. Comfortable bed, tall shower with generous water flow (though the fan didn't work.) CONS: No free breakfast service. Mustard brown yellow gold painted walls. Trolley passing sound is constant; old building with single pane windows let in that trolley noise through the night, which I found disruptive. While the mattress and pillows were clean and comfortable, I found two women's socks and a floss pick under the bed skirt, so I know the staff isn't really cleaning well. Dust along the wall edges was easily visible. Summary: Old building with slightly upgraded amenities, semi conveniently located. Likely better options for the price.

Yelp
Some rooms have no closets. In a section with not many restaurants and too far to burbon street

Yelp
I chose this hotel because it was affordable and reviews .... and I am happy with my choice. This hotel is beautiful and historic ! The entrance is gorgeous! Check in was fast and with great info thanks to Amy in the front desk, she knew the ins and outs of the tours! Which she did recommended good ones! She noticed it was my birthday and sent me a bottle of champagne to our room !!! How nice !!!! Mitch was the door man. And valet ! He was sooo great with directions and also was super nice and recommended several restaurants! French quarter was only 10 min walking distance ! But the trolley stops right in front of the hotel if you need to go to the garden district and in just one block the trolley that goes to the French quarter ! Great coffee place behind the hotel! Great for breakfast! Our room Pros- WiFi Cold a/c Huge room Decorations make you feel you are indeed part of New Orleans! Great water pressure No noise at night Comfortable bed, pillows a little to fluffy but good ! After our ghost tour I was a little scared in our room, but I felt that everywhere I went lol! Sooo much room! Cons- Old shower would be great if it was remodel. Some rust in the shower Some trolley have loud breaks so if you pay attention you can hear them! I would so come back to the hotel !!!! Did not want to leave ! So happy with my decision !

Yelp
Two years ago was my 40th birthday and husband took me to celebrate it in the French quarter. We didn't know where to stay so I started surfing the web and found the Lafayette hotel. I was so happy I did. The is the top . The hotel is gorgeous and staff is friendly. I loved it so much I decided to come back 2years later to celebrate my husband 60th. Of course we had to stay in 602. I absolutely love this hotel . If you are visiting new Orleans make a reservation here you will not be sorry Lafayette hotel staff you are amazing

Yelp
The hotel is old with character. There is no parking anywhere so valet is mandatory which is fine for $26. You stop by the entrance, the doorman is your valet and bellhop all in one, nice guy, warm and friendly. The check-in is painless and we are out of the car, the bags are delivered and we are in our room on less than five minutes, nice. The bed is very comfy and despite the wear & tear on the furniture and the small spaces the room is clean and adequately appointed. The coffee pot does a decent job and they provide you with bottled waters at the front desk. Clean bathroom with fluffy towels and pretty nice soaps. Thete's a thermostat that controls the blessed AC because it's one of the most humid & hot places on the planet here below dea level. There's a nice 55" HD TV on the wall with cute little lamps that have a 5v 2amp usb port on the base, cool. The curtains completely block out the bright lights of the district here and it's nice and quiet even though we are right beside the elevator. Tje hotel restaurant is only open Tuesday through Saturday and U think they have limited room service. The local delivery has a variety of for food selection but requires cash, who does that in the city? I know, they do LOL Bottom line: It's a classic hotel while worn it's clean and comfy and very affordable for $92. I will stay here again for sure.

Yelp
Impeccably clean! Very comfy beds! Really nice staff!

Yelp
Lafayette Hotel was a perfect spot to stay for our trip to New Orleans. Located between the Warehouse District and French Quarter you can easily walk to any of the hot spots. Curb appeal is high, and door employees are wonderfully friendly. Room wise, they're a little beat up - chipped paint and all - but honestly, the mattress was new and very comfortable and the shower stall was recently updated and very clean. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend it!

Kirenjeet B.

Yelp
Beautiful historic hotel. Rooms are clean and have a historic vibe without being outdated. Location is by a tram and it's walking distance to many nearby sites. The restaurants inside have a dress code and seem very popular on the weekends. Would rec.

Yelp
My college dorm room was more comfortable than this place. I honestly don't mind old hotels but they have to be clean. There was a bucket in the middle of the bathroom so that was weird. Also the whole room was damp and what I mean is when you walked barefoot/socks on the carpet it was squishy so that was really disgusting. I wore shoes the whole time in the room. The bed was lumpy and difficult to fall asleep on. I'm not really sure how they are open for business under these conditions.

Yelp
Great hidden gem in the busiest part of the city! As a Saints seasons ticket holder for over a decade, I'm constantly looking for places to stay in good locations close to the Dome & other attractions. This place if in the center of every thing, the Dome, WW2 Museum, Harrah's, even Bourbon St were all within waling distance. The actual hotel was wonderful as well! The rooms was actually spacious and not camped slammed side by side or on top of each other. Staff members were all friendly also, the valet, front desk, and cleaning people were always smiling, polite, & happy to help in anyway they could. Will definitely be planning on staying here from now on when coming to town.
google avatar

Fidel L.

Yelp
Great hotel with a wonderful staff! It's a quiet location that's not too far from Bourbon Street and the French Market. The bartenders, valet crew and reception staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel building itself is a bit older, but is well maintained and clean. It could use a fresh coat of paint in some areas, but overall wonderful! A great place to stay!
google avatar

Bruna M.

Yelp
Was there for NYE. Quiet hotel tucked away between a steak house. Nice little area of town, and not too far from French Quarters (usually a $6-7 uber fare - 7-10 min max drive). Has a few nice restaurants a short walk from hotel. The check in desk is kinda hard to spot. Staff was nice and attentive. Room was spacious and clean. Bathrooms pretty nice. Really no complaints on cleanliness or standards!! Only thing I wish there was available: Room service and a mini fridge in the rooms. Other than that, had a enjoyable stay.

Yelp
2nd visit to this delightful hotel. The staff is incredible and the rooms are beautiful. I highly recommend this location. They spoil you.

Yelp
I booked my room 2 weeks before my trip to NOLA and was honestly disappointed that I couldn't find a room in the French Quarter. I then began researching all neighboring hotels and further narrowed my search by comparing distance, features, and total price. The Lafayette Hotel is only a few blocks from the French Quarter and offers a substantial AAA discount so I decided to book my room there. When I arrived I was pleasantly surprised. Situated next to Lafayette Square the location was favorable, the staff friendly, and the prices reasonable. While it is true that the fixtures and decor are a bit dated, my room was large and impeccably clean, the king bed was very comfortable, the neighborhood was quiet, the room had black-out curtains, and the water pressure was amazing! I would highly recommend the Lafayette Hotel and I would definitely stay there again.
google avatar

Darya S.

Yelp
So glad that we were able to find cheap rooms at the Lafayette Hotel just 3 weeks before the trip! But even if the price was cheap, the room and service most definitely was not. Our room consisted of a bedroom, a bathroom, AND a living room! Loved all the space we had, and how cute and clean the suite is too. The lobby is small but welcoming and homey. It's just a few blocks from Canal St which is very convenient for walking (as you should not be driving while sightseeing!), service was wonderful, as every attendant we came in contact with did their best to help us in every way possible, and there is an upscale steakhouse on both sides of the lobby if a filet strikes your fancy. There is a park right next door which is perfect to work out in or jog. It's close to the French Corner, and in between the Central Business District and the Warehouse District. Its location is fabulous, in my opinion. The only negative for me is that the street trolly runs right in front of the hotel all day all night, and for a light sleeper as myself, it woke me up a few times each night. But hey that's not the hotel's fault. I should've brought ear plugs. Other than that, outside was quiet. One thing I didn't like, though, was the extra charge for wifi per night. Shouldn't that be free, people? All in all, definitely recommend the Lafayette Hotel for anyone's stay in New Orleans.
google avatar

Cristen W.

Yelp
This quaint little hotel is located in the Central Business District, so it's away from the touristy French Quarter section. Right across the street is a Lafayette Square, a park about a block big. We got there late in the evening, but the staff was still around and totally cool. The receptionist asked if we were there for the Jazz Festival, we weren't, so he insisted we go. Good call. The room was large and nicely decorated. We had a great view of the square and the St. Charles streetcar line, which conveniently stopped right across the street from the hotel. Didn't try the room service, but there was a coffee shop right inside the hotel, so we stopped in and were quite happy. The only reason this got 4 instead of 5 stars is because I know the room was haunted and the ghost kept waking me up at night.

Yelp
We arrived to the hotel in the evening, at first I was disappointed about the location and environment. But the next morning, it was a totally different atmosphere. I met Tim the valet and Nicole who works at the front desk. Tim was very helpful, courteous and respectful at all times. Suggested great food and safe routes. I'm a smoker but didn't have a lighter. Tim was always there for me. Nicole was helpful as well with what I asked of her. The night staff was the very opposite. Friendly yes, willing to assist NO. I watched the night shift watch people open the door for themselves and grab their own luggage. Great restaurant kitty corner of the hotel, called Marcello ask for Woody the bartender.

Yelp
This was a great stay. My family lives an hour away from New Orleans so we always make it a point to come stay in NOLA when we are down there. I've stayed at many hotels in New Orleans, usually going for whichever one I can get a good deal on. This grime we were traveling with a puppy, so I had to change my searching, but I was happy to find this one. The pet fee was super reasonable - $50 - many of the other old style hotels had much higher fees. They were very friendly with the dog and getting us all loaded. We had a ton of stuff since we had to bring our crate and other pet stuff, so the staff was friendly in helping us get it all brought up to our room. Through a great deal on Expedia I ended up with a suite - a fantastic choice that had a king size bed, balcony looking over the corner of St. Charles, sitting area with a couch and coffee table. Water pressure was hot and strong, and the toiletries were really good. There was a note on the fridge in the room that said it was out of order so we called downstairs and requested they give us one, which they were able to do within about five minutes. If you do have a pup with you the very dog friendly Lafayette Park is next to the hotel with bags. Lafayette Square is great place to hang out during summer for concerts ,and we were near a Fulton Street Festival this December. Great happy hour specials at the bar downstairs. All in all a great very "new Orleans" hotel.

Yelp
This is truly a "you get what you pay for situation." My friend and I shared a double bed room for 4 nights while we were in town for a conference and we had mixed feelings about this place. I'll just break it down into a pros and cons list: Pros- 1- Great central location close to the French quarter and canal street where most of the conferences are held. Across the street there are about 3 restaurant/cafe options that weren't horrible for last minute stuff. 2- Price- for 4 nights from Tuesday to Saturday we paid a total of 400 which we split so really great for traveling on a budget 3- comfy beds and clean rooms 4- house keeping is quick and efficient. I called asking for more towels and within 5 minutes they were at the door so that was nice. Cons- 1- it is NOISSSSSSY! Our room was facing st. Charles street and you could hear a pebble drop with how thin the walls and windows were. Cars pass by with LOUD music, sirens, and you can even hear garbage bins being pulled and people talking as they strolled by. This was super annoying and woke me up a few times throughout the stay. 2- wifi is PAINFULLY slow, to the point that I opted to not use it when I was in a rush 3- elevators are also pretty slow 4- there are very limited food options within the hotel- not even a vending machine. This was very inconvenient, especially for later at night when I didn't want to leave the room or the hotel. 5- the insulation throughout this place was weird. We couldn't open any windows so it got a little stuffy in the room. On the other hand though, when you opened your door into the hallway (we were on the 3rd floor), it was like an IGLOO and smelled like cleaning supplies. Shower random vibe 6- no fridge. NOLA food is amazing and we had so many left overs that we had to eat sooner than later because there were no fridge options. Again, the room was stuffy so we couldn't depend on the natural temperature in the room to keep leftovers cool Overall a decent spot to stay if you don't plan on being in your room/hotel for most of the time but if you're the type that likes to get work done/chill out/catch up, I would suggest looking into other options :)

Yelp
The rooms are relatively large and clean with comfortable beds. Close to all the locations you might want to visit. The staff was friendly, especially Nicole and Johnetta, who were helpful and lovely.

Yelp
Sub par hotel. My wife and I flew in from Maine today for a wedding. I'm only going to list two things. No hot water (response was, too many people using water) and no TV, service is not working. Hotel staff could care less. I've stayed in better motels on the highway.

Yelp
Whatever you do, I suggest that you NOT make an advance reservation for this hotel. BIG mistake. I did that, and had to cancel because my reason for coming to New Orleans disappeared at the last minute. I called the night before my intended arrival and asked to cancel and avoid the cancellation fee. My first effort to do this failed because the toll-free number rang unanswered, so I had to look through the web site to find a local number to call. By the time I got through, I learned that they count from 4 PM, and they really could not care less if you miss that deadline even by just an hour or so. And interesting enough, the reservation rates on their web site were LOWER than the price I was charged for an advance reservation. So, unless you are coming at a high volume time like Jazz Fest or the Sugar Bowl, save your money and bag your room here at the last minute.

Yelp
Excellent Hotel ! Starts with an old school beautiful wood panel check in desk.. Then you notice the "old school" awesome service fast friend, and knowledgeablestaff that is eager to help.. You are taken to a gorgeous 1920's style suite that the hotel has done a great job updating, while still keeping the 20's charm in place. Well appointed room with an updated, clean, and well appointed bath.. We WILL BE staying here again..

Yelp
Not a great place, not even really good. Very rough inside, hasn't been given much love in a long time cleary. Very loud. Doors don't have any stripping to help close quietly, windows are single page glass and old. Lighting in rooms is terrible and there rooms are beat up. I have no idea who is giving this place more than two stars because it doesn't deserve it.

Yelp
So we just checked in tonight, and already had a wonderful experience with the staff. India at the reception desk answered all of our questions and went above and beyond to accommodate every request I had! She also helped us figure out how to park, which can be a nightmare in this area. The room is perfect, bed is very comfy and we're very happy!

Yelp
Hotel is in a great location, friendly staff and pet friendly. But make no mistake it is an old and tired hotel. Our room smelled of mold and felt damp. The bathroom is old and the toilet seat not only rocked back and forth but was also yellow and dingy. I didn't feel comfortable walking barefoot on carpet. Housekeeper missed swisher sweets left in drawer at bedside table. Makes me wonder what else was missed or ignored by housekeeping. I felt the need to check sheets for bedbugs before getting in. None thank goodness and bed was comfortable. Room needs a deep clean, new carpet and renovation. Room 302.

Yelp
Nice, quaint hotel. Super easy to find and plenty of available street parking is always a plus with me. The rooms itself was nice. It had a nice sleep area with a small attached sitting area. There was a bar right by the door complete with a sink so that you could mix drinks and entertain if you want to stay in the room. I like that the hotel is far enough away from the madness of the French Quarter so that you can still walk around the area and not feel too much like a tourist. I had a photo shoot here and the photographer mentioned that he got a really good deal on the room through one of those hotel discount sites, so be on the lookout for that kind of thing.

Yelp
Service: 4 (Great staff. Esp. Dwayne and TerRon) Comfort: 5 (comfortable beds, A/C in suite) Convenience: 5 (Walking distance to all the greatest parts of central NOLA) Value: 5 (90$ a room for a suite is an AWESOME deal) Sustainability: 2 (They do have the option to not have to change your sheets out, but they still have individual soaps, incandescent bulbs, and blasting AC) My recent trip to New Orleans was bolstered by my fantastic stay at the Lafayette Hotel. It was a premium hotel at just barely more than Motel 6 prices. It was charming, spacious, and cheap. The lobby is gorgeous, the staff is incredibly helpful, and it is situated 8 blocks from the Quarter, 10 blocks from the Garden District, and sits on the border of the Central Business District and the Warehouse District (the up-and-coming, foodie/art gallery area). Across the street (at Girod and St. Charles) is a streetcar stop for the St. Charles streetcar, and across the other street is Lafayette Square, a historic landmark (where we saw a free concert on a Wednesday). In short: it is convenient for a tourist or a business traveller. And you can walk around at night and it is completely safe to do so. (Tip: the streetcar runs until 4am. A 3$ day pass lasts until that time.) As I read other reviews, I would just like to say that if you're concerned about the state of the television sets in New Orleans, you're doing New Orleans wrong. I didn't watch a lick of TV in NOLA--Instead I was walking to amazing bars, restaurants, and cemeteries. Everything about this place was perfection, and when I go back, I will stay here, and I will explore the Warehouse district more fully.

Yelp
If you are looking for the cookie-cutter hotel experience, this hotel may not live up to all your expectations. Why? Because the room is not in what one would call "pristine" condition but is elegant in its furnishings, has crown moulding, and is quite clean. The staff were great -- very friendly and hospitable. I received a gift package from a friend back here at home and they seemed to join me in my excitement about that unexpected gift! The area is rather nice as it is right beside Lafayette Square. It is not the nearest location to the French Quarter (about 10 - 15 minutes walk), but I was and still am happy about that because I had the opportunity to walk off all the calories I consumed (i.e. beignets, shrimp po' boys, seafood platters). I also like that the location means it is not crowded with tourists who think that their manners are also on vacation since they are on vacation. I would definitely go back here to stay on my next visit to NOLA. Parking is $31, but if you go down St. Charles Avenue, about two blocks down on your right side, there is a lot that only charges $18/day. If you're feeling adventurous, try to go to Carondelet Street. There is a facility there that only charges $4 but kind of looked a little scary (i.e. almost no lights).

Yelp
While visiting New Orleans, I highly recommend getting a local, renovated hotel rather than over-priced franchises nearby. The Lafayette was a very charming surprise. I booked this hotel through Hotels.com, and when we arrived, we were surprised to find that the we reserved a suite for the cheap price we paid. Our room had a king-sized four-post bed, beautiful antique furniture and bathroom fixtures, two TVs, and a separate living room with a mini bar. I had to call the front desk to make sure that we were in the right room because we paid the average amount for regular rooms, but they confirmed that we were in the right place. It's also located a walkable distance from the French Quarter and is just north of the Arts District. The staff is very friendly and considerate. They took care of all of our needs without us having to ask. They scheduled a cheap taxi cab for us when we just asked for a number we could call, made great budget-friendly suggestions for restaurants, and provided maps and ponchos at the front desk. I would give this place 5 stars if it weren't for some cleanliness issues. The mattress didn't have a fitted bed cover; it was covered by a comforter and regular sheet, so if you move around a lot while you sleep (which I do) you have to constantly fix the sheet to avoid touching the mattress with your bare skin. Also, the last guest left their half-filled coffee mug on the window sill and it was still there when we came in, which told me that housekeeping probably doesn't do a thorough cleaning of the room. But for the price we paid and the great customer service, I'm willing to look over those things and still give them four stars. While other hotels around them charged $150 and more, we only paid a little more than half of that for a suite at Lafayette.

Yelp
I'm giving this hotel three stars for just the condition of the room. Definitely needs improvement. However, the people should get four or five stars. They were great. Friendly and helpful. We would stay here again. Close to The French Quarter but just enough away. The walk gives you a chance to burn off all that food.
