The Best Hotels in Bali, From Beach Bungalows to Cliffside Villas

"The ideal antidote to the many party resorts dotted around the island, The Laguna Bali and the surrounding tourist enclave suit couples and families wanting a quiet few days away from the hustle and bustle. The 287 newly designed rooms feel modern, and the 19 suites and 11 villas are spacious and luxurious. All overlook the tropical gardens or directly access the property’s seven lagoon pools. The regal villas have a huge bedroom and living room opening onto a private pool, garden, and canopy nook, while the family bathroom leads to a private massage and shower area outside. Around-the-clock baby stroller service is included, and you can even get a teepee tent, mini dressing gown, slippers, and children’s toiletries if you’re traveling with little ones. The onsite Arwana restaurant is award-winning for a reason, offering tender beef ribs, pan-seared scallops in chimichurri sauce, and the best steaks and burrata I’ve tasted. Their signature menu can be enjoyed alfresco on the wooden decks underneath the moonlight to the sound of the ocean after being carefully spritzed with organic mosquito repellent by the attentive servers. There's plenty to explore nearby the hotel, but be sure to stay put on Thursday when events such as traditional fire dancing and food blessing rituals take place on the open-air terrace framed by palm trees and chatter from the outside colonial-style bar. —Jessica Rach" - Chris Schalkx, Juliet Kinsman

The Laguna, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Nusa Dua, Bali

"Located within the larger, incredibly exclusive Nusa Dua resort region, The Laguna, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, sits on one of Bali’s most beautiful beaches. There are 257 guest rooms and 19 suites, but the best spot might be in a Lagoon Access Room, which allows you to step from your private balcony directly into the water. There are also 11 pool villas, each of which boasts its own expansive private pool. A 24-hour butler service ensures guests need not lift a finger while onsite. As far as cuisine, there’s beachfront restaurants, wine rooms, and pan-Asian options just to name a few."

We have traveled to Bali many times for business and pleasure. In the early 2000’s, we were guests at Laguna Nusa Dua once a month for several years. We had wonderful stays, met many delightful people and enjoyed the food and culture of Bali. We had not been back for several years and had not stay since the property’s extensive renovation. While Laguna Nus Dua was our sentimental sweetheart, we were prepared to encounter an entirely different property for our return.|Well – we were right. It was not the same….IT WAS EVEN BETTER!|The property really shines. The service was out of this world. As a lifetime Titanium and current Ambassador with Marriott, I have been very fortunate to receive good service and amenities as I travel. This stay exceeded any expectations we may have had. GM Lucia Liu has done a truly remarkable job of refreshing this property to make it even better than it ever was.|The property is beautifully planted and when walking along the garden paths one really feels like you are on a secluded tropical island. The beautiful pools that meander around the property kept us entertained and refreshed.| The kind and caring service we received through out the property really was extraordinary. Every single staff member we passed during our day always had a warm smile and a friendly greeting for us. We would like to send a special thank you to Ms. Awi, Exec. Assist. Manager of Rooms, for making our stay even better because of her kind attention to the details.|We had very good meals at the property. We especially enjoyed dinner next to the beach. The rooms and suites have been modernized, yet the property has retained the Balinese spirit and cultural awareness.|We so enjoyed the cultural entertainment in the evenings. Sitting in the beautifully planted outdoor terraces watching traditional dance being performed was a perfect ending to a perfect day.

I visited The Laguna Luxury Resort Bali twice—May and June 2025—with my daughter to celebrate my mother’s 80th birthday. Every moment was beyond expectations. Thanks to my sister Putu Yeni Noviarini, a former staff member of 31 years, we were warmly welcomed and perfectly taken care of.||Special thanks to Mr. Agus Perdian, Ms. Lisa, Mr. Dewa, and Ms. Mustini for arranging our stay in the beautiful Room 237 and 334 on our return. Birthday decor set in room and a lovely celebration at Banyubiru with a mini cake and singing, thanks to Mr.Webie who also greeted us on that day. Later, we had a wonderful dinner at Arwana—delicious food (by Chef Ketut Sudiasa)fun service from Mr. Yansu, and amazing homemade ice cream from Chef Alex. The 2 cakes we ordered from Cornerstone was delicious .||A small issue at breakfast was quickly resolved by Ms. Yuli the next day and the front desk team. Servers like Mr. Ryan and Ms. Mitha went above and beyond—Ryan always greeted us with fruit plates and warm towels.||The grounds are stunning, peaceful, and full of nature. Breakfast was a treat daily, with Chef Candrayasa greet us everyday. Ms. Awi (Lestari) offering exceptional hospitality, helping us throughout our vacation, not only in Laguna but extended to other hotels too.On our return in June, GM Ms. Lucia Liu personally welcomed us. I also greeted by Mr. Michalis the FB Director in our breakfast. The experience surpassed our first visit.||From start to finish, we felt like family. Truly a paradise experience. Thank you, Laguna team—we’ll be back!

An Absolute Dream – Luxury, Beauty, and Pure Relaxation This is hands down one of the most amazing hotels we’ve ever stayed at. The property is incredibly luxurious and vast, with every corner — indoors and out — designed to wow you. The attention to detail, the elegance, and the connection to nature all make it feel like you’re in your own tropical palace. The entire Nusa Dua area feels extremely safe and peaceful, and the resort doubles down on that — it’s a haven of calm, where you can truly unwind. And the staff? Absolutely wonderful. Every single person we encountered was friendly, helpful, and genuinely warm. It makes such a difference. We stayed in the Lagoon Access Room, and let me just say — totally worth it. Being able to step right into the pool from your room, then back inside for a towel, drink, or snack from the fridge? Game-changer. It’s luxury on your terms, whenever you want it. You’ve also got quick access to the private beach, which is stunning and perfect for a lazy afternoon or morning walk. And don’t overlook the other pools across the resort — all beautifully maintained and offering something unique depending on the vibe you’re after. If you’re considering a stay here, stop thinking and book it. It’s that good.

We had the most amazing trip to Bali and really enjoyed this hotel. It was our first time to Bali and we were travelling as a family of four (two adults and two older teenagers). This hotel was perfect for us. The location is great, right on the beach front. It’s a very short walk to Bali collection which has a good variety of shops and restaurants. We ate in the hotels own restaurants a few times, and there were excellent, we also ate at other hotels on the beach front as well as some local restaurants.||Breakfast at the hotel was fantastic, a huge selection catering for all. They open nice and early if you are going out for the day and want to eat first. We hired a driver a few times and visited some amazing sites. Bali is just stunning!||There are a range of pool, the lagoon design means there are lots of private areas to sunbathe - unlike other hotels with large pools and sun beds all around — we found a quite spot most days and enjoyed the peace. We used ten hotel gym which was really well equipped for a small gym.||We stayed in standard rooms - we had two with an interconnecting door which worked well. The rooms are on the small side but are very nice, comfy beds, large bathroom, large TV and nice balcony. Bathroom well equipped and lots of water provided daily.||All the staff at the hotel could not do enough for you. My son was ill for a few days on the holiday and the team could not do enough, brining extra water and even offered for us to see the hotel doctor.||Nusa Dua is a great base. Not far from the airport but still in driving distance to explore. It’s a relaxing place, so nice to come back to if you’ve spent a few days out exploring.||I would highly recommended this hotel.xx

What an amazing hotel this is. We stayed 9 nights and the resort is so perfect we found it really difficult to leave the grounds. The pools are incredible and vary a bit so you are sure to find your favourite. What really sets this place apart is the incredible service. Everyone there was really welcoming, jolly and helpful and make such a great impression that you couldn’t help but have a great stay. They literally made us feel like royalty. A particular mention must go to Subrata and the team at The Sapphire Bar which has a lovely quiet spot and they do amazing cocktails (the white Sangria was our favourite). They also have a lunchtime happy hour which we made full use of. This is a beautiful, peaceful, incredibly well run hotel and if we ever return to Bali then we definitely won’t be staying anywhere else!

From the moment my wife and I stepped through the elegant entrance of The Laguna, we were enveloped in a sense of peace and belonging—it was as if we had arrived home.||Our stay began with a welcome drink of Jamu—a traditional Indonesian elixir rich with history and healing. That first sip became a fitting metaphor for our entire experience at The Laguna: meaningful, rooted in culture, and delivered with care. We even had the joy of meeting Lillick, the remarkable woman who brought this ancestral drink to the resort. Her heart is as warm as the island itself.||We were also deeply touched by the hospitality of Aprin, whose presence alone is reason to return, and Arik, the brilliant mixologist crafting cocktails that could rival any bar. In truth, there are simply too many names to list—so many members of staff made a lasting impression on us.||What stands out most is how The Laguna balances scale with intimacy. Though it accommodates many guests, it never once felt crowded or impersonal. Every detail felt curated just for us, every moment private and peaceful. The resort truly lives up to the word luxury in all of its efforts—not just in its facilities, but in its soul.||As someone who runs a hospitality venue in London, I’ve seen excellence—but The Laguna redefines it. They didn’t just meet our expectations—they gave us a honeymoon we’ll cherish forever.||We can’t wait to return.

We got an upgrade at our room with nice decoration for our son’s 6 month old birthday. Staff are all very nice and helpful offering us all the baby amenities we need. Very baby friendly. The breakfast is amazing and the staff there are great too, offering food especially for our son. The swimming pools are also very nice here. Our son enjoy the pool so much.

The most beautiful hotel in stunning surroundings. Everything about it is so enjoyable. The landscaping, pools, rooms, food and most of all the wonderful staff. A mention to Sweety in KulKul beach house bar. Always greeted us with a smile and made us feel so special. The boys in Sapphire Lagoon bar also were so lovely. Essa, Subruta and Arditha. One of the cocktails we had there was delightful and his own recipe. Nusa Dua was our last stop in Bali and it didn’t disappoint. Highly recommend this hotel
