The Lakeside Hotel and Leisure Centre

We visited this hotel last week to celebrate a 70th birthday.|We booked one of the Waterfront rooms for the birthday girl and twin rooms for the rest of us.|I had to change the booking a few times over the previous month, but nothing was a problem. |The Waterfront room is a bit more expensive, but you pay for what you get, and it was a fabulous room, and the views are excellent. |Despite the weather, storm Amy, we had a great time and the staff could not do enough for us.|Because of the weather, we ate in the hotel for the full time we were there.|Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all excellent, and the staff went out of their way to help and serve us.|They excelled on our last night when we were celebrating our sisters' 70th. Thank you.|We can not praise the staff enough. In every sector of the hotel, nothing was a problem for them.|We would highly recommend staying in this lovely hotel, and hopefully, we will get back to it in better weather.

My stay at this beautiful hotel was overall fantastic and i would 100% recomend a visit there ||The room was beautiful it was spacious the view was amazing and it was comofrtable the only reason i didnt give 5 star is because i found a hair on my pillow and a dirty face towel on the floor of the bathroom ||I gave 1 star for sleep due too not being able too get any sleep as the bar was very busy and people were shouting outside my window i could hear them in the bar also it was 3am before it went quiet so very little sleep that night || i am deffinately planning too revisit but most certanly will request a different room only because of the noise other than that the room was absolutely beautiful ||the food was delicious but the server forgot i had given my order and i was waiting quite some time now too be fair they were busy and she was very polite the food was then a little cool when i received it hence 4star ||The leisure centre is the best i have seen yet and the breakfast was top notch ||I was so pleased too see gluten free and vegan optioms on the menue also||Thankyou lakeside side hotel for an overall very pleasant trip i do diffinately recomend visiting them|| the staff are very plesant and welcoming ||

Overall a very enjoyable mini-break. The staff are friendly and helpful. Both breakfast and bar food is of a very high standard. The views from the room and the bar while dining were superb.||||A service glitch on one evening was dealt with very well which spoke to the good training and autonomy of the relevant manager.

Had a very pleasant 3 night stay here in a Superior Lake View room. (July 2025) The staff were amazing, consistently amazing from reception (Ellen), to the bar staff, to the dining staff, to the house keeping each and everyone of them were genuinely welcoming, friendly, attentive and checked in with you regularly that everything was ok. The room was large well equipped with bathrobes, slippers, ironing board, iron, safe, coffee machine plus separate kettle for tea, excellent tower fan which cooled the room effectively. There was a large comfortable bed and lovely views from the windows. Good breakfast usual selection of juices, cereals, fruit salad, yogurts, smoothies, cold meats, cooked items, breads, mini danishes coffee machines so you could choose what coffee you like and a lovely pot of tea brought to your table. There was also a pancake making machine which was very popular with children and adults alike. You could also order extra cooked items made to order. All dietary requirements were available from what we could see. We ate in the bar each evening and the food was good. We didn’t avail of the leisure facilities but did take a peep and the gym was well equipped and the pool had a slide and both were in full use and there seemed to be a lot of fun a laughter with the families in the pool.

Looks really nice from the river, if you come by boat like we did it looks amazing, but lake view room was not what I expected. View from the room very limited, just a small part of river and few houses on the other side. Room was good size and adjustable temperature, however, no heating in the bathroom so not very pleasant. Also cleaning not up to standards, balls of dust on the floor and on the walls.

We held a large family gathering at the Lakeside for my father’s 70th birthday. I cannot speak highly enough of the experience as a whole, but particularly the staff - they were so accommodating and went above and beyond in making sure everything was a success… Including being good sports about making sure the ‘surprise!’ part went smoothly! The food was delicious, and there were lots of little extra touches to make the event feel special :) Rooms are very comfortable, and the location on the lake is just lovely. We will be back for sure, as will many of our party guests! Thank you to the Lakeside for an unforgettable experience!

During our trek across Ireland, we spent two wonderful nights at The Lakeside Hotel and Leisure Centre. Our river-view room was fantastic—beautiful views from the patio, along with lovely decor and a maritime theme that added a special touch. The food was excellent, and the complimentary breakfast was one of the best I’ve had. The pool and spa facilities were great too, featuring a dry sauna, steam sauna, and cold plunge, perfect for relaxing. All hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel’s location was very convenient, close to local restaurants and the market. Highly recommended for a comfortable and enjoyable stay!

Food was good as always but today, we encountered a zombie waitress tending to us and a few unfortunate guests. She was unbelievably lacking in hospitality, zero aptitude, basically perfunctory and obviously not interested in service of any sorts. We had to remind her of a few things we ordered. She got us the bill, yet did not come back to collect payment so we left cash on the table and she sent the other waiter after us while we were leaving, claiming we did not pay?! Maybe she is just a temp as Lakeside staff are usually good.
