The Lakeside Hotel at Nuwarawewa

Bit old property at a good location. Big Shoutout to chef and restaurant staff. They are definitely a highlight. Rooms are old and need more maintenance. Corridors need to be adequately lit. House keeping is good but they should improve more. It seems the issues are along with the investment need to maintain the property. Very supportive staff. Plenty of Parking spaces

The place is quite calm and nice. However, the front desk service needs improvement. I had a very bad experience with my booking. I specifically requested a king-size bed when making the reservation and even reconfirmed it over the phone with the receptionist. At that time, they confirmed I would get a king-size bed room with a garden view, and I even made a half payment based on that confirmation. However, when I arrived, they told me that all the garden-view rooms with king-size beds were already taken, and only twin-bed rooms were available. I ended up having to move to another room with no view at all. Additionally, when I requested other items like an iron, I had to call hotel services three times before it was brought to the room. Another issue was that the towels were not clean enough,they had brown patches all over them. On a positive note, the food was really tasty, although the buffet selection was quite limited. Overall, the front desk service really needs improvement.

Dear Lakeside Team and Management, I am writing to share some feedback I received from my family regarding their recent stay at your hotel from last Friday until this morning (breakfast). We have been staying at your property since 2012 whenever we visit Anuradhapura, and until now, we have always enjoyed our time with you. Unfortunately, this visit has been quite disappointing. My family reported that the cleanliness of the room, especially the bathroom, was extremely poor. The toilet pit emitted a strong odor throughout the night, making it very uncomfortable. Additionally, the quality of the food was below expectations—both in taste and standard. Even breakfast, which they took at 7:30 am, was served cold. This was very unlike our past experiences at your property. I am therefore writing this as a formal complaint, with the sincere hope that you will look into these issues and take the necessary corrective action. I would appreciate hearing from you regarding how this matter will be addressed.

It’s very nice hotel except there is no lift. However; the concierge is very helpful and friendly. Breakfast includes a variety of Western classics and authentic Sri Lankan specialties.

Very old hotel, same as my previous visit about 10 years ago. Room arrangement is good, but the price is considerably high. The food quality does not match the price. Not recommended

It was an amazing experience staying and working with the staff of this property. I stayed with a group here and occupied around 25 rooms for 3 days.. Big shout out to to Mr. Jan (GM), Chamod and Janak (Managers) and the Head Chef Dinesh who handled the entire booking smoothly and went beyond their limits to help us with the arrangements.

We stayed at The Lakeside at Nuwarawewa, Anuradhapura last month, and it was a great experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and provided excellent service, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived.||||The rooms were clean and seemed recently renovated, which added to our comfort. However, the pathway to the rooms could use some renovations to enhance the overall appearance and make it more inviting.||||The hotel has a beautiful, spacious garden and a large pool, perfect for kids and families to relax and have fun. Our children absolutely loved spending time outdoors, and it was a great place for us to unwind as well.||||The food was good, and the overall experience was definitely worth it. We felt that it offered great value for the stay. Our kids and we thoroughly enjoyed the visit, and we would highly recommend it to families looking for a peaceful and enjoyable getaway in Anuradhapura.||||Looking forward to visiting again!

Recently, I and the venerable monks from the University of Kelaniya had the pleasure of staying at your establishment. We had a wonderful day and night. Your place is reliable and attentive. The hotel is very green with old trees, and the food has a strong Western flavor. The service is very dedicated. And especially, I would like to sincerely thank you for returning my car and house keys promptly and free of charge.
