Fabulous hotel. We stayed in one of the barns. Perfect for a weekend stay with our fur baby (dog). The staff were amazing, friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was relaxed, friendly and warm. Will definitely stay here again soon. Thank you to Kat and Serena xx

I had my 30th birthday celebrations at Lancrigg last weekend and it was the perfect venue! The exclusive hire meant me and my guests could enjoy the whole place to ourselves which made it extra special. We were able to enjoy the beautiful grounds and views during the day before the party at night. The barn is an amazing space for a party and the outdoor area with the fire pits meant there was a place for guests to escape from the music inside the barn! The staff were wonderful and so attentive!!! The planning in the run up to the event was made so easy by the team and they answered all my questions so promptly. I honestly can’t fault anything, thank you again for making my 30th such a memorable one!

The Lancrigg is truly a special place, the perfect wedding venue :) If you’re reading this because you’re thinking of booking it, don’t hesitate for a second. I’m not sure words can really do it justice, but I’ll try! We feel so so lucky that this magical corner of the Lake District was ours for the weekend in July 2025. Every single member of the team was wonderful, kind, enthusiastic, and such a joy to plan with. They embraced all of our ideas, added their own thoughtful suggestions, and made sure everything came together perfectly. The venue itself is breathtaking. It’s clearly a real labour of love which you can sense the moment you arrive. Even on our first visit, on a drizzly February day, we knew instantly it was the place for us. The accommodation is excellent, and the beautiful walk down into Grasmere is an added treat for guests. We are also deeply grateful for how supportive and flexible the team were when we had to rearrange our wedding for health reasons. Their kindness meant the world to us, and it’s something we’ll never forget. We can’t wait to return in the years ahead and watch The Lancrigg continue to flourish. It will always hold a very special place in our hearts.

Have stayed in most hotels in grasmere and this time decided to try lancrigg. Setting is very special. Absolutely stunning. Although I appreciate the charm and history of lancrigg, it is very run down. Small double room. Mould on walls around window and mould round sink and bath in bathroom. No remote for tv. Got one but batteries dead. New batteries provided. Only 5 channels all of which were channel 5. Bulb in lamp needing replacing. Dinner - steak should have been medium rare - some bits weren't cooked. Did not complain as staff member was very busy and seemed to be doing everything herself. The food left on the plates should have told the cook something. Breakfast absolutely awful. In the home of cumberland sausages we were served skinny skinless ones. None of the food was hot. Limited range of cereals. No fresh fruit - a tin of fruit salad and a tin of peaches like the 1970s. First morning I could only eat muesli which was the cheapest looking I have ever seen| This morning granola and yoghurt. No honey or fresh fruit to put through it. I feel everything is being done on the cheap here. Far better places to stay in grasmere. Will stick to victorian house hotel next time - same price but far better quality in everything.

Lancrigg – What a Truly Special Venue It took us a long time to find the perfect place for our wedding, with our long list of needs, but then we discovered The Lancrigg. From the moment we stepped through the door and were greeted by Simon, we knew it was the right choice. The house itself is a beautiful country retreat nestled in the Lake District, and it immediately felt like home. Simon and Alison were wonderfully flexible, ensuring all of our expectations were met and more. The on-site team were an absolute joy to work with; friendly, attentive, and full of energy. They created the perfect atmosphere and kept our guests celebrating late into the night.

I had the joy and privilege of experiencing The Lancrigg for the first time recently, attending my daughter and her now husband's wedding. My review of all aspects of our stay can be summed up in one heartfelt word....PERFECT!|Stand out points being the location; the staff, in house and contracted in (special mention to Simon, Alex and the young lady whose name I sadly didn't get, sorry); the relaxed feel and easy pace of our whole experience; no fussing; the genuine welcoming and cosseted feeling you get when you're in any room or area of the buildings or outstanding grounds - mainly due to the hotel being left for us to enjoy its character and not being thoughtlessly or clinically stylised within an inch of its life; breakfast to die for....I could go on!|As a guest or a resident, I felt Lancrigg greeted us with a hug, as if you're coming home, from the moment you step over the threshold, be it as a single, a couple, with children, dogs, all manner of kit etc. You'll definitely want to come back time and time again.

Attended a friends wedding here and what a place it was!! Stunning location, epic scenery and a beautiful venue to hoist. Staff went above and beyond and made sure everyone enjoyed their stay. If we are ever in the area again, we would certainly return!

Yelp
We saw signs on the way to Helm Crag about a cafe/bar nearby and decided to check it out after the hike. The smoked-duck salad was splendid, and my husband was quite pleased w/ his ham sandwich (sides of green salad and potato salad scored well, too). But the winner was the orange-carrot cake for dessert. I'm going to try to get the recipe: dense, moist, not-too-sweet... I am reasonably sure the sweetener was orange marmalade. Reminded me of my grandma's (steamed) Christmas pudding. Oh, and the atmosphere was cozy, and service good. Beautiful location just outside Grasmere.
