We had the absolute pleasure of attending a winter wedding at The Lancrigg, and we cannot recommend this venue enough! The setting is simply stunning, the staff were exceptionally attentive and professional, and the food was nothing short of delicious. This is truly a first-class venue for a Lake District wedding. On top of that, we had an extraordinary experience with the team at Thorney How accommodation. My partner accidentally left behind a bracelet of immense sentimental value. Mark, the owner, went above and beyond to assist us. He quickly liaised with Debbie from the contract cleaning company, who was incredibly understanding and cooperative. Together, they even reached out to the new guests staying in our room. Thanks to their swift efforts, the bracelet was found under the bed and safely returned to us. We are beyond grateful for their kindness, professionalism, and dedication. It’s rare to encounter such thoughtful service, and we couldn’t be happier. Thank you for making our experience truly unforgettable!

We went to the Lancrigg Hotel for 2 days over New Year, hoping for a relaxed, dog-friendly chilled break, and that was exactly what we had ! The other guests were nice characters, there were a lot of dogs about, and the place was very homely. Mark , the chef, did a great job, and the 3 staff who looked after us, couldn't have done more, and were very good fun. Sereena was 'front of house' and did a great job. |If you want a posh perfect hotel experience, then go elsewhere, but if you want what we did, then try Lancrigg. The history of the place is fascinating too, and worth visiting even to absorb all the old talent that has been within the walls in the last century.|The bed was extremely comfortable btw!|There are some lovely walks from the door, and the weather is as you'd expect in the Lakes.

Stumbled across this hotel while walking in mountains. Decided to stay for a few days on our return trip. Great hotel. Stunning location . Good food. Very dog friendly. Staff are all lovely and helpful. Serena went beyond the call of duty in handling any request. |Left feeling relaxed and happy after our stay. Will definitely book again.

Just back from a lovely few days at The Lancrigg Hotel. It is in the most idyllic location and both our rooms (we extended our stay) had their own unique charm. The staff were lovely and Sereen, with her amazing energy, went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our time there. The views are amazing and the overall atmosphere created by all made it easy to relax. Thank you from us all. We will definitely be back.

We parked here to go for a hike. Parking fee can then be used as credit towards coffee, tea, sodas. We decided to order a couple of lunch items too… garden salad and a leek pie. Both were very good and reasonably priced.

This fabulously situated hotel has changed since we last visited. The beautiful building is the same but sadly 1) the food is now much less interesting, with very limited and rather predictable dishes 2) the service was reduced to skeleton staff, who were on message to cut costs eg the free coffee was only at breakfast, we had to ask for jams/ marmalade etc to accompany toast…. there’s just a feeling that they don’t quite care enough 3) out tv had no remote control stick in the room and was unusable throughout our stay. Despite asking multiple times for this to be sorted , we were given various conflicting excuses and it was never resolved. The spa bath displayed a “ we are having problems, please don’t use” notice, which they obviously knew about in advance. It’s a huge shame that such a fantastic historical house in such a glorious position is allowing itself to fall behind in attention to customer service.

Excellent idea for this hotel to allow walkers to park for £6 all day and welcome visitors to enjoy the hotel cafe overlooking the beautiful gardens and hills. We redeemed the £6 for hot drinks, had a lovely chat with the waitress and a look round the hotel, the decor was beautiful! Perhaps I’ll be lucky enough to stay there one day but for now I just want to say thank you for welcoming walkers!

We had hoped for a lovely weekend and found the staff so welcoming and wonderful and the bar was lovely. However, unfortunately our weekend coincided with two big family groups who were lovely but took over the hotel including coming down to breakfast in their pajamas! The rooms in the chilly barn rooms had paper thin walls so when the whole|Entourage pilled in next door, we left!! Keep this for groups and you will have a wonderful time but the breakfast needs improvement for the price as it is youth hostel standard!
