The rooms are absolutely beautiful, the food at the restaurant was very good. The atmosphere of the entire place was just what we needed after the drive. Sat on the balcony and watched an eagle soar above the river and then treated with her Northern Lights!! Great value for the $

The Landing - Current River Rafting & Inner Tube Trip ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had an absolutely fantastic time at *The Landing* on the Current River. The entire experience, from the logistics to the rafting, was seamless. Initially, we were concerned about having to haul our gear, like our ice chest, down to the river, but the staff made the process incredibly easy. From the moment you leave your hotel room, it's clear how to proceed. You simply bring your equipment down to the beach, and if you need any accessibility options, I’m confident the staff would be more than happy to help. Once your gear is at the beach, one person can watch over it while others head up to rent inner tubes, cooler floats, or inflatable kayaks. The rental area is conveniently located, and they even have ice available, making it super easy to prepare for your float. You can then head back down to the beach, where the staff helps load everything onto trailers attached to vans. These vans transport you about 9 to 10 miles up the river to the starting point. From there, the fun really begins. They assist with getting the rafts or boats into the water and make sure everyone has their paddles and life vests. Our float down the river was a perfect mix of adventure and relaxation. We stopped at various points to enjoy the scenery, have some fun with dance parties, and even participate in a Jello shot contest! Everyone was mindful of litter, which was great to see, as we all worked together to keep the river clean. One of the highlights of our trip was when my brother, Jeremy, flipped his raft after trying to grab a big stick. Thankfully, his cooler, dry bag, and even his flip-flops were saved—though we did lose a GoPro. Another memorable moment was when our friend Susan's kayak developed a hole, but with a little ingenuity and a Ziploc bag, we were able to patch it up for the rest of the trip. The entire journey took about 7 hours, and once I got the hang of paddling from the back of the raft, it became second nature. My wife, Kerri, was an amazing captain, guiding us like Lewis and Clark! The weather turned out to be perfect, with enough clouds to provide coverage, but not so much that it ruined the day. We were grateful for the sunscreen and made sure to reapply it throughout the trip. This was an excellent experience, especially for families or groups of friends looking to do something a little different. It requires just enough teamwork to make it interesting, and the bonding time on the river is unbeatable. The prices were very reasonable for everything, and if it’s your first time, I’d highly recommend renting a full raft rather than trying to manage a kayak. All in all, it’s an experience I can't wait to repeat!

We bought the 5-hour float. And on this specific day that we went (8/23/24) The current was so slow that after 7 hours we were still about an hour away. We ended up having to flag down a passing by speedboat to get rescued. At the point that we flagged down the boat we were all so exhausted we honestly didn't know if we would even make it to the finish line. It's also about $40 a peson so keep that in mind. We went as a group of four and it was an absolute blast until the fatigue set in. We were met with so many logs sticking out of the water, trees that were overgrown blocking some of your paths... Which knocked one of my friends in the head because the current was flowing so fast we couldn't get away from the edge that hadn't been trimmed so she got smacked in the head and lost her glasses. If you're going to charge these kind of prices clean up the area a little better. That's why you're gettting at 3. The areas that were clean and we could just float and have fun I would have given you a 5 star for it. And I'm being generous with giving a three because there are areas that definitely need cleaned up. If you're going to charge us $160 for four people you can definitely get out there and clean up that river a little bit.

Google
Thanks to the staff at The Landing I had a great kayak/float down the Current River. It’s a great time of year to go, it’s not busy but the birds and animals are out big time. The staff are super friendly, the rental kayak was good and I was basically the only person on the river. For the first 4.5 miles I saw one person, downriver from there I saw a few boats. Thanks all!

efficient and so easy to spot from the road! We experienced floating for the first time. We did the 3 hour float! It was a nice experience

Google
We had a great time!! The guys at the lower hut helped get our things from the car for us and helped with anything we asked. Truly wonderfully sweet guys! Their mommas should be proud! The driver was very social! He was also very nice and gave tips for our float and was funny as well. Once we finished the same Young men at the hut were waiting for us on the side of the river and helped us move our things toward the vehicle. Great experience!! I would highly recommend!!

Yelp
When we arrived, it must have been peak arrival time as we had to wait in a long line. From the time of arrival to departure on the river was close to 2 hours. They had a key check which was nice and necessary for tubers. Most of the people on the river were tubes $35 to $40. We took Kayaks $45 to $50 they were blowup kayaks with large hole in the bottom, so the craft filled with water first thing. Really didn't like them much had to sit in water the whole float. There were (John) motorboats cruising by with no regards to the possibility that someone could be under the water. They didn't slow down when zipping past floaters. The water was nice and there were lots of fancy houses to look at. The float passed several campgrounds. I would have preferred a quite scenic float in the woods. Won't go there again.

Yelp
So it's 35-45 dollars for EACH person, regardless if you bring your own equipment(tube, kayak, etc.) to float down the river with. For 3 it would've been 105$ not including tax, and all we needed was someone to drive us up there, and the spot to park. Absolutely ridiculous pricing.

Yelp
We have made two trips to the Landing. This time we decided to stay. I suppose I could give points off because the parking lot and hotel is under construction, but it's a small price to pay for the great location and service. I'd love to see the process to rent tubes streamlined a bit. Including the rental process with our hotel registration would be a great improvement. The river is amazing, the van ride is thrilling and the people, mostly kids, are all doing their jobs. We love this place, with all its quirks, and will remain loyal fans and customers as they make their improvements to the facility.

Yelp
Only one complaint. The spiders are out of control. Once the sun sets, you can't sit outside on your patio. There are hundreds of spiders, babies to very big ones. PLEASE have this taken care of....

Yelp
This used to be a reputable place, but I am not sure what happened. We have floated with them for years but this year was completely different. It is currently 10:15 and we are still waiting on a 9:00 pick up from them. Four phone calls later where they promised us someone (during each call) was on the way nothing has happened. This is supposed to be our vacation and we are still here stranded and we have spoken to them so I am sure they are aware of the situation, but no help.

Debra C.

Yelp
Everything was wonderful. Good service, nice facility, knowledgeable staff. Enjoyed the entire experience.

Yelp
I ordered 12 ounce strip medium rare and the steak was very dry. Definitely not with the price.

Yelp
They boy friend and I were Summer road-tripping with no real destination in mind this July when we came across this resort. Check-in: I came in as a walk-in with no reservation (I did call ahead to make sure there were rooms). I walked into the Lobby, very nice first impression, very rustic yet upscale. I located a desk over to the side where I checked in with Andrew. While checking me into my room, Andrew answered FOUR phone calls about reservations and each time he would completely stop my check in process and look up dates. It was actually quite irritating, I am usually very patient but I literally had to pull out some self-restraint not to grab that phone from him and say "good afternoon, this is the Landing, can you please hold" and give him a little customer service lecture right there in the lobby. At this point in the trip, I have been on the road for about 12 hours. Windy, curvy roads with a boyfriend who was driving too dang fast, a head ache, and I really had to pee... I had Andrew email me the room receipt so I could get on and get the heck out of the lobby. In my room I have a king size bed, very comfortable; two chairs, very uncomfortable; a very small desk with an office chair, not too bad; a nice sized TV and a mini keurig. The room has the smell of brand new all over it - have never smelled that in a hotel before. Room is very nice, was very happy with the accommodation. Two very comfortable Adirondack chairs to sit in outside the door as well. Settling in, and ... Andrew didn't give us the Wi-fi password... Andrew didn't tell me where the ice is... Andrew didn't tell me when I am supposed to check out. Can't believe it is not posted in the room anywhere. Hungry now - so I'm looking at the hotel restaurant's menu online - the prices... $15 Burger... $19 Alfredo... decided to pass on that, and wander around town to see what gems I could find. What did I find? Not a whole lot. McDonalds, Subway, God Father Pizza, and one grocery like store who sold fried chicken and beer. That made an alright dinner even with the fact we had no silverware to eat it with. Laughing it off and still trying to enjoy myself. Post-dinner and feeling a tad bit bored and restless. No evening float trips, can go out tomorrow at 8am they say. Other than that, there is NOTHING to do around here, at all. Thank god I have no children. Spent the evening in bed watching TV... what a waste. With nothing else to do I figured I would heat up some left over chicken. Looking around the room... wait... where is the microwave. BEWARE - there is no microwave. Gave up on an evening snack and decided on a little night cap of Tito's. I grab my ice bucket and start wandering around outside. Ran into a neighbor and asked if they knew where to get ice. Turns out you have to go over to the lobby for ice - which is a different building, and it closes at 10pm. In the morning we decided to hit the road and get the heck out of this town. Floating wasn't really a big deal to me because I can do that back home and have my own kayaks. Overall, disappointed. Not ever coming back, mainly due to lack of amenities. ‍

Yelp
Stayed at The Landing during the week in July, and was placed in a room in The Rosecliff Building. We are a family of 4 with 2 teens. First night we ate at The Landing restaurant. Food portions were good, but meal left a lot to be desired. Steak and burger were way undercooked, chicken dinner was passable, but catfish dinner was excellent. But, biggest issue was cost. For a small town one would not expect to pay $88 plus tip, and that only included 2 drinks from the bar. The waitress was the nicest part of meal. The Landing has 2 buildings with guest rooms. The main building, and the Rosecliff Building behind. Neither have elevators, so if you happen to be placed on the third floor like we were be prepared to walk lots of stairs. We had a double queen with a refrigerator, which you have to pay extra for. The room size is nice, but could use an upgrade, the mattresses are VERY firm. Also, ice can only be gotten at the front desk so be prepared to walk back and forth to the main building a lot. I loved the front deck, but once the sun set you could not sit out there because of the large number of spiders all over the deck, which another reviewer also mentioned. The major problem with this resort is there is absolutely nothing to do there. They stated they have bands on the weekend, but we were there during the week. The only activity is to float on the river (which is very cold so hopefully it is hot when you visit), which we did but after that there isn't much else. There were no activities on the property, no fire pit, no volleyball net, nothing - unless you want to rent ATV's for $199 for a half day. And when it rains you are basically stuck in your room. The town doesn't have much else by way of options either. We were able to fish from the river front on the property with some luck so that helped pass the time. We also felt that all staff was not as "friendly" as other people had posted, many had seemed almost "done" with the summer crowd. The hostess at check in also berated the cleaning staff in front of us because our room was not ready 2 hours after the appropriate check in time, which was uncomfortable. The 2 star rating was basically for the float trip the resort offered ($80 for our group), the beautiful river, and the location of the resort. 3 nights was maybe one night too many for us.

Yelp
The floating on the river was great. 5/5 for that. My issue is with the gift shop on the premises: it had a decent amount of political gear inside. I can understand if it was a gift shop not on the premises owned by an outside party. But come on, most people go on float trips for fun, to get away from some of the BS going on in the world today. The gift shop should be about the float trip, the property itself, and possibly the town....you know, what a normal gift shop should be like. Remove the political merch from the shop so the float trip can be about the float trip. Also, be prepared for potential stares from locals and feeling uncomfortable if you're in an interracial relationship: it's not fun. This was experienced while eating at the restaurant on-site called the Blue Herron. My GF and I had to get our food boxed before even finishing it bc of the uncomfortable feeling.

Hayley R.

Yelp
Cool views of the river and good food! You can go down to the river and walk along the wide bank

Jackie B.

Yelp
BEST STEAK I HAVE EVER HAD!! I'm not really a steak eater & the fact that I LOVE this Chefs filet & order it for myself is really saying something.

Yelp
This establishment is located in a small town. A VERY small, lazy town. The Landing, however, would be special in any town it was located. If this restaurant was in New York, it would have Michelin's 5 Star Rating. The dining area is homey and intimate for starters. No garish decorations or outlandish fads. The Landing is situated on the banks for the Current River and they let the river and its beauty be the decor. Half of the entire dining area faces the river and it is a joy to behold this view while dining. Everyone is friendly and helpful. They are polite, easy to engage in conversation and make you feel welcome. I was dining here one time with someone whose order was incorrect. The staff handled this error with professionalism and grace. They turned a negative into a big positive. The steaks are so good you feel like personally thanking the chef. I have dined here many, many times since they first opened and I have never had a bad meal at The Landing. I have tried everything from seafood to burgers to onion blossoms to the steaks and salads. Everything has always been fixed to perfection. Honestly, the best Caesar salad I have ever eaten was at The Landing. The portion sizes are more than generous. One night, after a meal, I was sitting on the front porch talking to a friend. We noticed that everyone who left the restaurant left with a carry-home box. Every single diner. This food is great even as a leftover! The prices are more than reasonable. The price points are just right. There is plenty of convenient parking and this establishment is easy access. Great food, pleasant and intimate dining experience, reasonably priced and friendly staff. Isn't this what dining should be about, after all?

Mary Beth S.

Yelp
Best steaks in the nation!! Try a root wad or Coleman's Failure for appetizers but make sure you order a steak cooked to perfection!
google avatar

Gabi G.

Yelp
Nothing special here. Average food. Spiders all over everything. Spiders hanging off Of every surface. It's not that hard to spray for spiders... you don't hardly want to move, or push your chair back because of all the spiders on the railing behind you. Also had the hostess act like she was doing us a favor by sitting my group of three at a five top table. The place wasn't that busy. Very off.

Yelp
This place is where we SHOULD have stayed when we came up. we ended up sommers else...and it didn't work out well. the staff here was very friendly, the outfitter was very professional. our float was perfect! we used the inflatable kayaks and loved them!!!. we WILL be back!!!!

Joshua H.

Yelp
This review is for the outfitter supplying floating crafts for the floats they offer. The system they have in place is terrible, and some how they have been using this same system for 40 years. I'm with a decent sized group and reservations have already been made. You are only allowed to pay for your floating device on the weekend and you must pay before you arrive. We are floating on Saturday so to pay for my kayak I rented I had to call in on Friday and make sure it's paid for. It took over 20 mins of fighting a busy signal to finally get through to someone who had our names listed under our reservation but did not know what float we reserved there for I could not pay for the kayak without giving this information that they should of had when the reservation was made. So I had to look up our information and spend at least another 20 mins fighting a busy signal before finally getting through a second time. Well needless to say I didn't have the information I thought I needed to pay for the kayak we had already reserved, although other people had already called and paid in our group they still wasn't able to confirm which float we was doing, which didn't make any sense so I hung up because I wasn't getting anywhere with them. I called the one who made the reservation and had them call and let the people know what we was doing so that everyone else in our group who had to call and pay didn't have to deal with what I just went though. So now this is my 3rd time waiting out this busy signal to pay for my kayak! After a little over an hour of playing phone battle wasting my time I was finally able to get through to get this taken care of, but now I had to deal with a mad owner who said I was being rude after all I had been through to pay them, she almost didn't take my reservation, which would of ruined a large group of peoples float plans because this system they been using for 40 years epically failed, and was a nightmare to deal with. The river here is beautiful I hope in the future they come up with something better for making something as simple as renting a floating device don't end up taking 3 calls and over an hours with of time, because what a pain in the ass!!

Yelp
OMG......best burgers!!! I was quite surprised. After being on the river all day with nothing but float food, I We cleaned up and headed here. Burgers were big, none of us could finish them, perfect for snack that night. My oldest daughter ventured for the stuffed shells...gotta say they were pretty darn good. I hated that I had to ask the waitress for more condiments since they conserve and give you ketchup in little plastic cups. Fires were amazing fat and pillowy. A bit pricey if you ask me but we didn't have a lot of options j

Christy P.

Yelp
Pros: Staff was nice, Rooms were clean, Float trip returns you to the hotel, restaurant on location and food was good. Cons: Rooms are priced too high, advertises mini-fridge and there wasn't one, water pressure was non-existent Suggestions to improve: Lower room prices and you will fill the hotel in May and June due to having the restaurant and float available. Do something about the water pressure! Put mini-fridge in rooms or provide continental breakfast. Have a luggage cart for those people with long walks to rooms. Have restaurant serve breakfast.

Elizabeth D.

Yelp
The rooms were old and seemed dirty. There are zero extras - not even a towel hook. The furniture was falling apart. It was overpriced. They also fly a huge confederate flag and Trump flag. Considering everything that has happened this year both flags seem extremely insensitive. We used them for going down the river too and in the midst of a pandemic (which you'd never even know they were even aware of because zero precautions are taken) they packed is in a large van with others on a very hot day and let us sit in the sun with no air conditioning or air flow. I thought I was going to get I'll. I will never go back here.

Jesse M.

Yelp
Terrible food- steaks way undercooked and ended up arguing with the manager who was completely unprofessional. Dark red and cold is rare- not medium. Also had a 5 dollar Covid surcharge for a steak - how absurd. Will never eat here again- absolutely worst food I've had in a long time

Jarrod B.

Yelp
Such a great place. Accommodating and down home feel. Great restaurant on site. No need to visit anywhere else when you get off the river. Best restaurant in Van Buren!

Luke C.

Yelp
I love everything about this place! Food was amazing at the restaurant. I had steak both nights! The wait staff was friendly and fast. The float trip was a blast. Easy ride up to drop off point and the River was beautiful. Everything was smooth and easy. Everyone was helpful and courteous. Check this place out!!!

Yelp
Exelent food. Delicious burgers. Not enough napkins though. I love turtles and I think you should eat here. As a side note, the man who holds peppermints was friendly.

Yelp
Great steak awesome staff. A awesome place to eat and do all your float trip needs. Very clean atmosphere and great location right on the current river

Yelp
AMAZING! We were traveling through Missouri and wanted a real meal (not fast food). The local charm was phenomenal, the service was impeccable, and the food was 5 star wonderful. If they have sweet potato casserole available, be sure to get it!

Emma G.

Yelp
If you like lines and heat, this is the place for you. We stood in line waiting to get a ticket for rafts and canoes for over an hour. Just to find out that there was only inner tubes. This was very frustrating because we waited in line for so long and didn't even get what we wanted. Once we arrived to purchase the inner tubes the lady at the desk was very rude. She was not very informative. After getting our tickets we went down the stairs just to see some crappy black inner tubes that we paid over $90 for. So, we waited for over an hour once again for other people to give us their tune once they got off the river. It was hot with no shade! Once we found our tubes we waited about 30 more minutes for the bus to pick us up. The bus ride was short, but only because we were going over 60 mph the whole way there! It was terrifying going around curves. However the river was nice after waiting so long.
google avatar

Janet M.

Yelp
The only good thing about this place is the food. It looks good but rudeness, uncleanliness, maids that steal your clothing & don't clean the rooms & uncomfortable beds is what your dealing with. The only people who leave good reviews will be from Missouri & are probably paid to do so. Try Eminence.

Sar S.

Yelp
Great job overall.. from managing the timing to transportation. Will come back again. Not to mention, not too pricey.
google avatar

Kari K.

Yelp
Worst place EVER!!! I never write reviews but I felt compelled to warn other people against this place! The people that work here are rude and inhospitable. The entire establishment is filthy and smells like mildew. The towels had stains on them and the room was disgustingly gross. There were dead bugs in the sink and the toilet hadn't been cleaned in weeks. The food is overpriced and barely edible. The pictures make it look okay, but it isn't at all what the pictures look like.....stay anywhere else but here!! You will regret it. It's THAT bad.

Kacie W.

Yelp
Awful experience. We waited 45 minutes just to pay for our trip. Then we had to wait in another line for 10 minutes and then waited 2 hours just to get on the bus to float down the river. We definitely will not be going back.
google avatar

Rob G.

Yelp
this definitely is a prime location for a weekend at the current river but the customer service leaves something to be desired. By the time we get to the front of the one register line to rent our tubes the lady decides to text on her phone like 5 minutes. doesn't even acknowledge our presence. Rude. Also getting any information about the surrounding area from the front desk was like pulling teeth. turns out you have to ask very VERY specific questions in order to get an answer about anything from the front desk at the Landing. Frustrating. Next time we visit the area we will definitely search for another provider for our tubing needs.
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
Except for the crazy long lines, these guys are an excellent outfitter! If you are planning a trip down the Current river, these are the folks to use. They have cool little landing where you can splash around while you wait for the bus to the drop off. They have plenty of tubes and also have tubes to float your cooler down the river. You won't go wrong with these guys!

Tina C.

Yelp
Just stopped for a meal as we were passing through Van Buren. Wow! We were surprised to find this jewel in the middle of nowhere! Definitely deserves a higher ranking on Yelp than the current 7 of restaurants in VB. Should be #1! Service was great and food was fresh and nicely prepared.

C T.

Yelp
Worst ever customer service for a float trip provider. Their staff is RUDE and could care less about service- of which there is very little. HORRIBLE experience.
google avatar

Linda H.

Yelp
Had a steak that just melted in my mouth. Good food, great view of the river. Great place to relax and enjoy a meal.

Curt M.

Yelp
The best steak you will find between St Louis and Memphis! The Landing is the only place in the area where you can eat a great steak and watch the beautiful Current River flow by while enjoying a glass of wine. Worth the stop!
