Myself and my boyfriend spent the night in Galway and were really happy with our stay at The Lane. As we came in we were greeted by the most beautiful dogs (what a way to start our trip) and then were pleasantly surprised by our room. Whilst on the smaller side, it had a cosy feel and the bed was lovely - we both slept like babies. Everything was clean and we had good ammenities - shampoo, hairdyer, tv, coffee machine etc :) Also, staff were grand and let us leave our bags after we checked out. They also got the room ready for us before 12 when we arrived in the morning, even though check in wasn’t until 3. The location is brilliant too - right next to Eyre square and the train station. All in all for about £40 each for the night, we were both very impressed and would be back again.

I was part of a small group on a golf tour to Scotland. The hotel is located within easy reach of the city center and yet well connected to the main traffic lanes leading to the countryside. The building marries modern facilities with classic charm, high ceilings and modern bathrooms. An old established pub downstairs is very convenient for a drink or some food and breakfast, yet there was no noise at all in the room. The staff is very friendly and ready to help with every request. A great thank you to Mark and his team.

I would give this hotel 10 out of ten. Each room has a different theme. I stayed in the Velvet Room and my friend had the Garden Room. Beautiful room, very comfy bed, nice and quiet. Right next to the eclectic and famous Canny man pub with all its curiosities. Fabulous for breakfasts and dinner.

The rooms were spacious enough and very comfortable. The bed was perfect, and the area was quiet. Water pressure was great for showering, and the bathroom was large with a window that opened. The Canny Man's Bar was just down the stairs and 100 foot walk, the food there was great, so was the staff that worked there. Shout out to Sondra and Maris who were extra special.

The Lane Boutique Hotel, the perfect home when away from home in Edinburgh, Scotland. This hotel is conveniently located on the Morningside road, which brings you directly into the old city (when going north) and directly to the main road-net (when going south) bringing you the famous Scottish golf-courses. And the lovely breakfast is served in the most famous pub/bar in the city - "The Canny Man", a more than 100 year old bar/pub which has not changed since it was established. When you enter this establishment any time of the day you immediately feel at home. Mainly because the family who owns this establishment (4th generation) enjoys the luxury of keeping their marvelous employees for years. And they all just make your stay very enjoyable, including in the evening when it gets really busy.||Rooms are spacious with all the amenities, great beds and beautifully decorated.

By far the best experience I have had in Scotland. The Canny Man’s has so much character. The food was fantastic. The best Sunday roast I have had. The staff are so knowledgeable about: food, whisky, wine. The Lane Hotel is a hidden gem. Away from the main hustle and bustle but a 25 minute walk into the town. The rooms are spacious, very clean and quiet , beds are very comfortable. I would highly recommend The Lane for anyone. It is a great place for couples, families or as a golf group such as ours. Thank you to Mark & all the staff at the Lane Hotel & Canny Man’s

I’m genuinely shocked that this place is still ranked so highly. It was listed in the top 10 for Edinburgh when I booked, which is why I chose it — but my stay was a real letdown.||To call this a hotel is misleading. It’s essentially a glorified Airbnb trying to pass itself off as a boutique hotel. There are no amenities or hotel-style facilities, and there isn’t even a proper reception area. You have to go into the pub next door and hope someone can assist you.|The stairs are extremely narrow and steep, making it difficult to carry a suitcase up. Our room was large and reasonably clean, but there was no room cleaning during our three-night stay. The bathroom was spacious, yet had zero counter space or storage — not even a small shelf — so we ended up keeping our toiletries in the bathtub.||The location is also quite far from the city centre. We don’t mind walking, but it’s too far to do that comfortably more than once during a stay.||For the price we paid, this property simply isn’t worth it. I would not recommend it and definitely wouldn’t stay here again.

Exceptional boutique hotel in a truly local setting, right in the middle of town. Associated with the famed "Canny Man's", an iconic 150y old pub. Spacious, refurbished rooms, quiet and comfortable. THE place to stay in Edinburgh! Great breakfast and food. A personal touch delivered by the owner Mark himself. We'll be back!
