We were given room 10 on the third floor, a dormer in the roof space. The room was large, comfortable and clean as was the bathroom which had a bath and separate walk in shower. Tea and biscuits were in the room with a kettle. Beds were firm, but comfortable.|Downstairs there is a decent bar with 3 real ales, and a dining room with great views. Beer prices were high, £6 a pint. I guess they "make hay while the sun shines." At least it was a decent pint. |Food was disappointing. Restaurant prices (£22 scampi and chips) were not justified by the quality of the food and their hand cut chips were a disappointment. Portions were generous, but £10-12 for a starter was expensive for pub grub. Breakfasts were good. |All the staff were friendly and helpful. Stonethwaite is a great location for walkers, walk to Keswick on the west of the lake and get a bus back, or for the more adventurous walk south to Grasmere.

We were a large party and they accommodated us for dinner at late notice. We sat in the restaurant section rather than han to be bar. The food was really good. Decent portions and the service was excellent. The desserts were lovely too, especially the apple crumble with custard and ice cream. It's a lovely quaint place surrounded by stunning scenery. I would definitely recommend this place. We didn't stay overnight so cannot comment on accommodations.

The staff here need a raise! Excellent hospitality, personal service and the food and drinks are great. What a little gem!|Bar staff in particular were outstanding when we were tired and wet after a long hike! |Next time we want to try the restaurant. Looks great and reasonably priced.

I’ve stayed at this Inn twice recently, once with my daughter and also with my wife. The accommodation in the Garden Room was excellent, as was the weather. The room was immaculately clean and comfortable whilst the room came with its own garden and bench. We also ate at the Inn and the food was really good both for the evening meal and breakfast. The location is beautiful and the staff were really friendly and approachable. We intend to visit this Inn several more times before the end of the year.

I couldn't comment on the rooms , however if they are anywhere near the quality of the service we received from the friendly staff then I would estimate first class! My sister was paying so happy days as I thought wow it's a bit more money than the other places we stayed but boy I can see why. The flavour, the quality and the range of superb tasting food was excellent. The young lady who also looked after the bar was professional beyond reproach in her service. We changed the odd thing and asked for extras and nothing was too much effort and perfectly delivered. I couldn't comment on the desert as it would amaze me that somebody could have room for one but will try next time. The lady may remember me as I asked for a floater coffee and she wasn't 100 per cent sure how to do one. But this minor issue was never enough to score down such a great find. Will we be back? Yes of course!!! Just not soon enough as we are 5 and a half hours drive away but boy will we be back. Thank you to all staff amd certainly chef. Recommended steak pie...... and the fish and chips (melt in your mouth batter)

We had a lovely time at The Langstrath while walking The Cumbria Way. Very nice food and atmosphere. Ali, the waiter, was the best. Thanks again sir.

What a gem in the heart of Borrowdale. We spent two nights here in room 9 and can't recommend enough. The hotel is friendly and simple. Comfy beds, very powerful shower and great food. The location at the end of the road means no passing traffic and the setting is stunning - perfect for long day adventures in the fells right from the doorstep. The added bonus of also being a pub was great for drinks but last orders is 10:30pm and we were in bed well before that and had no trouble with noise at all. Will definitely be back and thank you for being so welcoming.

Yelp
We were booked into this hotel by the folks who arranged our C2C walkabout. Right on the walking track. Located on a working sheep farm (but what isn't in Borrowdale?), with superb dining room food for dinner and breakfast. Packed lunch is pricier (£7.25) than at other places we've stayed, but there is nothing else until Grasmere if you're on the walk. Comfortable rooms, without TV (but one is available in the lounge). Baths on the small side.

Yelp
I was staying nearby at the Borrowdale Youth Hostel but had dinner here last week after a massive hike beginning with a dawn ascent of Scafell Pike. The food was simply superb. I had the black pudding salad and the slow roasted Lakeland lamb which was probably the best tasting lamb I have ever had - quite different in taste to most lamb (especially that here in the US). My son had some wonderful local shrimp and a good steak. The place is really a pub gone gastro and is very cosy and perfectly positioned at a dead end in a stunning Lakes valley. The beer selection was also excellent - 6 enticing and local cask ales including the rare but impressive Sneck Lifter as well as the local favorite Cumberland Ale and a very refreshing gold ale from Keswick Brewing. For beer and food in the Lakes I could not have asked for more!

Yelp
Always love this place in the winter when biking or walking all day. Warm up in front of the real fires..... The lamb is a must and real ales are just perfect !!!

Yelp
This inn is well tucked away, but worth the visit. Food is excellent, locally sourced and delicious, particularly the meat starter platter and cheese soufflé. The inn can get busy, so worth booking.
