The Last Resort Queenstown

A last minute work trip had me booking The Last Resort as a truly last resort. I booked a dorm room for 1 night. Overall my experience was positive, the place is clean, the location great. Security was a major concern of mine as the coded entry door was almost always left propped open; there was no secure storage for bags and the individual rooms did not lock. I know kiwis have a she'll be right attitude towards everything, but to me this was just BEGGING for safety/security issues. The bunks were relatively comfortable,but the thin blanket provided left me freezing at night. 🥶 The door to our bunk room also desperately needed a bit of Wd-40 as it loudly screeched every time someone went in or out. Not ideal when people are trying to tiptoe in late or use the loo in the middle of the night. Overall it was ok..close to town, close to the bus stop, and clean, which I appreciate. But the lack of security would definitely prevent me from returning.

I had a great time at Last Resort. The place has a relaxed and welcoming vibe, perfect for unwinding. Great location in the Heart of Queenstown. Everything was clean and comfortable. Jenny, who runs the place, was super kind and always happy to help. she keeps things running smoothly and creates a nice atmosphere. Definitely a place I’d come back to!

This is really the last resort if you have no other options. The location is very good and its the main reason we booked this place. We had a room with own bath, it's located downstairs which is good for those with big and heavy luggage, as you don't need to carry it up the stairs.

Only my favourite hostel in the whole world! Situated in central Queenstown makes this place super convenient, whilst still being hidden enough to be peaceful and relaxing. Great facilities have made cooking a real treat, the cleaner works super hard and it shows too. Comfortable beds and a nice warm shower is amazing after a long day of hikes. Always friendly people to meet and chat with. The owner is the nicest guy too, I will be sad to leave. The only place I will ever book here again. Thanks for providing such great services, advice and hospitality : ) The only problem is I can’t stay longer

Kitchen is clean and spacious, room is nice, shower & toilet is super clean. Quite close to town yet very reasonable price.

The hostel is perfect, comfortable and the atmosphere is great! I stayed with a friend in the 4 bed dorm for a couple of nights, right in town close to everything. I must mention that the worker, Jennie, is the sweetest and helped us a lot throughout the entire stay. Thank you so much ❤️

We stayed at the hostel for 4 nights and had a great time. The two Irish managers know their way around town. The hostel feels homely as it is not a party place and has limited beds. The dorm was clean and they offered free towels. I can only recommend the place. One of the best hostels I've stayed in in New Zealand. Also loved the dog, Molly and the great conversations with every one.

The most friendly, homely hostel ever! I lived here for several months in 2021 and will always return when I am in Queenstown - the vibe, people, and cute quirky building made it immediately feel like home. It’s also got great facilities, comfy beds and free laundry, lovely communal spaces and front garden for drinks, bbqs, sunbathing, beaut views of the gondola! I’ve made lifelong friends and memories at TLR - it’s a really special place and I 100% recommend for anyone wanting to meet people in Queenstown and live in more of a home than a hostel 💗

Last Resort offers a cheap, cozy stay. The staff describe the hostel as more of a "homestay," and the atmosphere is quiet and homey. There are lots of amenities such as a common room with a large TV, movies, kitchen, free wifi, and free breakfast. It is also a 2 minute walk from downtown Qtown. The building looks very aged and has a "work-in-progress" feel, but is under new management and is actively being improved every day. For 30/night, it's the best you can do.
