The Laurel Hotel & Spa (Auburn, Alabama) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"It’s not often a hotel prides itself on education as much as hospitality, but then The Laurel Hotel & Spa does sit within one of America’s most historic college towns. In what it claims is a first of its kind, the hotel has teamed up with the Horst Schulze School of Hospitality Management at Auburn University to train the next generation of hoteliers and chefs outside of the limits of the classroom. This might not mean much for guests, but providing students with as many real-life settings as possible has resulted in an excellent choice of restaurants and bars, including the fine dining 1856, the summer terrace Walt's On The Roof, and the hotel’s own micro coffee roastery and microbrewery. There’s also an extensive spa menu complemented by a steam room, Himalayan Salt Room, and a healthy food and drinks menu so you can make a day of it." - Tablet Hotels

I celebrated my birthday at The Laurel with my boyfriend and we had such a wonderful time! Our bedroom suite was luxurious and I enjoyed all the amenities. One thing I really loved was the breakfast and hors d’oeuvre spread at the Rane Library on the 6th floor. All the food was absolutely delicious and mostly everything was locally sourced from their rooftop garden. The staff at the Laurel are so kind and welcoming and they did everything in their power to make my birthday super special. I’ll never forget my time there and I hope to be back soon! (Also, if you have time, check out the spa and the 1856 restaurant!)

I have seen them all. The Laurel gives the Ritz Carlton a run for it's money at a much lower rate. From the the moment we pulled up, it was 5 star quality service out the gate. A very luxurious welcoming and presentation. The Rane Family Library staff, and Subrina in particular, were so gracious and accommodating. We'll always stay at The Laurel whenever we visit Auburn in the future, so long as they are not already sold out.

My wife made three mile trip from our home in Auburn and celebrated our 34th wedding anniversary here. I believe this is the best experience I have ever had a hotel. From pre-arrival to check out everything is first class. The service is very personalized. The room/suite was beautiful clean and had a wonderful view. Others have said the in-room technology was difficult. We are not techies and we figured it out just fine. The did and service in the library was exceptional. We will definitely be back - and highly recommend the experience.

Highest quality of service ever in auburn!! We were upgraded complimentary to one of the larger suites due to membership and my girlfriend’s bday! Omg we were so blown away about the modern and high tech room! Large and multiple rooms/bathrooms to enjoy. Dining at the Rane library was great and delicious too! Breakfast, Dinner and the afternoon snacks were high quality and delicious! Lastly the staff deserve the highest praise. So down to earth, caring, very catered to me and my girlfriend. They made our experience the best and sooo worth it! Shoutout to them and you all are the MVP! You all made the Laurel run so perfectly!

Google
The Laurel is unmatched in this state, let alone the southeast as it compares to similar luxury properties and hospitality. We have stayed at five star properties across the world and have rarely experienced the professionalism and care that we received at the Laurel. Kudos to the staff and to Auburn for creating such an incredible experience.

Google
Gorgeous hotel and perfect location for a future Auburn student tour. The staff was so welcoming and accommodating and they gave us very personalized service. Next time we will extend our stay and check out the spa!

We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary at the Laurel. The facility, staff, and food was amazing! We enjoyed meeting the staff. Sabrina was awesome. She made reservations for us and really helped us. The BEST breakfast we’ve ever had at a hotel. The nightly dessert bar was so good. I can’t say enough about out stay. We will go back.

This is a very confusing experience. As 5-Star hotel, it has all the bells and whistles: highly trained staff, impeccable amenities, beautiful rooms, dining extras, but it is very hard to figure out lay out and schedules of hotel and dining areas. The most confusing is navigating the room. Everything is very high-tech done with ipad which we never figured out. Our room phone was not operative so had to call for help with phone, tv and lights (no normal light switches) on my cell phone!!!!| A lovely greeter tries to run through everything in hotel and room on arrival, but so detailed we couldn’t remember anything|It is almost trying too hard!!!

Yelp
Had a few complications when checking in but was compensated by the manager Joe. Food was good overall; however I would recommend not getting the Laurel Burger. It just needs some sauce to it since it felt like a bland burger. They had different hours of the day that offered hor d'ouvres, dessert, light dinner, etc. Which was a plus Went to the spa for a massage with my partner and the service was good. Had Jose and he was very attentive. Would definitely go back to the spa, but I think the hotel just has a little more fine-tuning that needs to be done.

Yelp
Fantastic ambiance, can't beat the views or the service provided. Although it's upper end of Auburn drink prices, it's worth it if you need somewhere to relax or celebrate! Definitely will be back!

Yelp
Wrote and replied to their instagram posts quite a few times with questions about packages and no replies. I don't know who is managing their socials but apparently they don't bother having nice customer service. Such a shame since it's supposed to be such a high-end experience. Well, I guess my money is going elsewhere.

Yelp
We made a reservation with the only available time being at 3:15 or 9 pm we choose the earlier. After paying a $20 cover fee for the two of us we tried to make our way up to the rooftop but the elevators wouldn't give us access. After calling and telling them of our reservation they told us they would send someone down so we waited a good ten minutes and no one appeared. We got in the service elevator with a worker at the hotel and made it up to the top. Once we got onto the patio there was no one to greet us until a server noticed us and approached us asking about our reservation and then informed us of the open seating as first come first serve which was confusing as we paid for a reservation and it was fairly empty. Service was consistent after that and drinks were good but overall experience was lacking and there was food and drinks being taken to the wrong tables throughout the entire dining experience.

Yelp
I visited recently and decided to use the spa. To be fair, I'm comparing the experience to other spas in a similar price range. They market the hotel as a 5 Star, so that was my expectation going in. Overall, clean modern, all good. The mens shower area lacks pegs for your towels and robes. Seriously? Had to move a basket to keep from laying them on the floor. Steamroom was ok, but no sauna, no spa tub. For the prices they charge, I expected more. This is the first spa I have been to that did not have a sauna. The massage was adequate. But nothing distinguishing. There are two other spas in Alabama I've used, one in Opelika and both are far better and about 40% less. I suppose that's how I would sum it up ... nice, pleasant but not a good value considering what they charge. There are better options available.

Yelp
The spa needs a lot of attention. My daughter and I went for massages. My massage was in the nail room, where they put a massage table. It is next to the front desk so was very loud with groups of women checking out. When I brought this to the attention of the woman checking us out, she said sorry we have a large group in today. There were also no hand towels in the bathroom and glasses were left in the waiting area and the women's lounge for the entire 2 hours that we were there. The hamper for used bathrobe was overflowing and needed to be emptied. The dispenser for conditioner in the shower was broken. For the price that they charge, the experience was disappointing.

Yelp
We had a very enjoyable sunset evening at the Rooftop terrace with terrific drinks and appetizers! We highly recommend the goat cheese peppers! Our server, Carson, made our experience even better!
