The Laurel Hotel & Spa (Auburn, Alabama) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"It’s not often a hotel prides itself on education as much as hospitality, but then The Laurel Hotel & Spa does sit within one of America’s most historic college towns. In what it claims is a first of its kind, the hotel has teamed up with the Horst Schulze School of Hospitality Management at Auburn University to train the next generation of hoteliers and chefs outside of the limits of the classroom. This might not mean much for guests, but providing students with as many real-life settings as possible has resulted in an excellent choice of restaurants and bars, including the fine dining 1856, the summer terrace Walt's On The Roof, and the hotel’s own micro coffee roastery and microbrewery. There’s also an extensive spa menu complemented by a steam room, Himalayan Salt Room, and a healthy food and drinks menu so you can make a day of it." - Tablet Hotels

My husband and I celebrated our 25th anniversary here. To describe in one word….. fabulous!|| The most important thing to me when staying at a hotel is cleanliness… and as expected - it was spotless.|| Some of the things that were our favorites were the complementary e-bikes (we rode bikes everyday), the bed, pillows, and linens were so luxurious, the pool was so nice in the afternoons and the library where they have food presentations throughout the day was fantastic! ||The staff was so helpful, attentive, and great to talk with. We had a great time and would love to come back sometime. ||We only live 30 miles away and was able to take advantage of a local 30% off special so that definitely helped these 2 teachers be able to afford this luxurious get away.

From the time you enter this hotel, it is luxury all the way. Location is amazing with 360° wraparound roof rooftop bar views. Private hotel, gas pool is amazing especially at night to enjoy a cocktail and dessert. My room was plush, luxurious, and had cozy robe and spa treatment products that made my stay even more luxurious.|Dessert was amazing. Staff was amazing. Cocktails were lovely. The welcome charcuterie board in my room was a nice touch as well.

My stay at The Laurel Hotel & Spa was truly exceptional. From the moment I arrived, the service was top-tier—welcoming, thoughtful, and personalized. Annie and Sabrina made check-in seamless, even upgrading my suite and offering a guided tour. Sally, with her warmth and attentiveness, made the rooftop cabana experience unforgettable. The rooftop lounge, pool, and bar were peaceful and elegant, with music and service that flowed effortlessly throughout the day. Every detail—from the complimentary treats and curated cocktails to the serene ambiance—felt intentional and elevating. This is a gem in Auburn, and I’m already dreaming of returning for a future retreat with loved ones. Thank you to the entire team for making this stay so special.

Had a wonderful two night stay. The room was beautiful and the beds extremely comfortable. Only complaint is the "hi tech" lighting controls. Much too complicated. Crazy not too have light switches particularly for the bathroom! The staff were all extraordinarily attentive and eager to please and the foods in "The Library" was delicious. We loved the breakfast. We also loved that most of the staff wetter students - such a wonderful idea.

I've stayed in beautiful hotels around the world, but the Laurel has become my new favorite. My stay was superlative. From the valet to housekeeping to the Library staff, every staff member was delightful. Love, love, love their whole rooftop experience, from pool to the gorgeous views of Samford Hall and the football stadium. The downstairs restaurant was closed, but my meals and cocktails in the Library were good (I'd give them 4/5 stars, but it was a lounge, so I'm good with that). My room was a king suite. Sheer perfection. Every appointment was beautiful and tasteful. It took me a few moments to figure out all of the things controlled by the iPad, but it was great once I got the hang of it. The bed was fabulously comfortable. The bathroom had a tub large enough for three people, the toiletries were all BVLGARI, the shower had three jets, a hand sprayer, and a regular shower head. There was even a TV screen in the mirror; which I didn't even know existed. My only sadness about this lovely place is that my stay lasted just one night. Apparently, they offer private residences. I can see why. I never wanted to leave. I truly look forward to coming back for a future stay. Just an incredible experience all around. Kudos!

We stayed here for a basketball game in February, and decided to come back for a quick two-night, relaxing getaway. The staff is unbelievably accommodating and friendly. The private rooftop pool is a great place to relax, and the poolside bar has great food and drinks. We didn’t utilize the spa, but have heard great things. “The Library” is the lobby where you check in, and they provide several food “presentations” (breakfast, lunch, snack, evening dessert) which are complimentary. Breakfast is phenomenal, and all of the food/pastries are freshly made in-house. Rooms are nice, beds are comfy, and an iPad allows you to control everything from curtains to TV to AC. On the ground level, there is a wonderful coffee shop as well as the “Hey Day Market” where you will find a brewery and a food court area. Also on ground level is the 1856 restaurant which is top notch. We did the 8-course tasting which is expensive, but very unique and worth trying out. Auburn’s campus is a fantastic place to go for a walk or bike ride, just across the street from the hotel. All in all a great experience and we will be back again.

A most Luxurious 2 night stay for a little R&R. We were not lookong for any ourist or active sightseeing. Mayne just a littld antiquing which we found at Angels i Opelika. We were just looking for a little pampering. This hotel has it all... small, but full of ambiance! The staff and rooms are impeccable the service friendly and accommodating but not overbearing. I can't say enough about this small gem in the heart of Auburn University, Alabama. All staff and cooking is done by students who graciously and willingly are anxious to show off their cooking and hospitality skills. The Nsspresso coffee and electric Tea kettles are a plus. Bathroom with 5 fixtures and double sinks. The Library room for quest provided complimentary breakfast, lunch, evening appys and light night desssert all made by students.Gourmet coffee available 24/7. Events through out the year include wine tasting by their own Sommelier. 1856 Restaurant has tapas tasting menu and various cooking demonstrations during the school year. College basket ball, football and baseball round out the sports. And don't forget the relaxing SPA.|Roof top pool bar and lounge area were a favorite evening delight. Luxury toiletries, evening bed turn down, ambient lighting all add to a relaxing stay. Beautiful campus to explore, lots of safe walking space. Hotel is 3 yrs old and super clean and safe neighborhood. Valet parking. Truly a hidden Gem! We will be back. |

Our Valentine’s weekend at The Laurel Hotel and Spa was truly unforgettable—one of the best hotel stays we’ve ever had! From the moment we checked in at the library, we knew this was a special place. The library itself is a stunning space, offering four food services a day and a cozy, 24/7 retreat to relax and unwind. Subrina and Joseph made our experience even more delightful with their warm hospitality.||The spa, located just across the way, was equally incredible. The service was top-notch, and the products used were luxurious and rejuvenating. Our room was beautifully appointed with thoughtful touches, including an honor bar, the deepest bathtub ever, relaxation spray, and sea salt made right from the hotel’s rooftop. The turn-down service added an extra layer of indulgence.||The main hotel restaurant, 1856 is perfection. A 5-8 course tasting menu that changes every two weeks is their dinner focus. Angel is a doll and offered exceptional service. The wines paired with each course by Thomas were amazing.||The rooftop bar was the perfect place to cap off our evenings, with fantastic drinks and delicious tapas, all set against a breathtaking view. asleigh was a fantastic server and ensured we had a wonderful time.||Every detail at The Laurel Hotel and Spa feels designed for comfort and luxury, and we can’t wait to return. Highly recommend for a truly special getaway!

Yelp
Fantastic ambiance, can't beat the views or the service provided. Although it's upper end of Auburn drink prices, it's worth it if you need somewhere to relax or celebrate! Definitely will be back!

Yelp
We made a reservation with the only available time being at 3:15 or 9 pm we choose the earlier. After paying a $20 cover fee for the two of us we tried to make our way up to the rooftop but the elevators wouldn't give us access. After calling and telling them of our reservation they told us they would send someone down so we waited a good ten minutes and no one appeared. We got in the service elevator with a worker at the hotel and made it up to the top. Once we got onto the patio there was no one to greet us until a server noticed us and approached us asking about our reservation and then informed us of the open seating as first come first serve which was confusing as we paid for a reservation and it was fairly empty. Service was consistent after that and drinks were good but overall experience was lacking and there was food and drinks being taken to the wrong tables throughout the entire dining experience.

Yelp
I visited recently and decided to use the spa. To be fair, I'm comparing the experience to other spas in a similar price range. They market the hotel as a 5 Star, so that was my expectation going in. Overall, clean modern, all good. The mens shower area lacks pegs for your towels and robes. Seriously? Had to move a basket to keep from laying them on the floor. Steamroom was ok, but no sauna, no spa tub. For the prices they charge, I expected more. This is the first spa I have been to that did not have a sauna. The massage was adequate. But nothing distinguishing. There are two other spas in Alabama I've used, one in Opelika and both are far better and about 40% less. I suppose that's how I would sum it up ... nice, pleasant but not a good value considering what they charge. There are better options available.

Yelp
The spa needs a lot of attention. My daughter and I went for massages. My massage was in the nail room, where they put a massage table. It is next to the front desk so was very loud with groups of women checking out. When I brought this to the attention of the woman checking us out, she said sorry we have a large group in today. There were also no hand towels in the bathroom and glasses were left in the waiting area and the women's lounge for the entire 2 hours that we were there. The hamper for used bathrobe was overflowing and needed to be emptied. The dispenser for conditioner in the shower was broken. For the price that they charge, the experience was disappointing.

Yelp
We had a very enjoyable sunset evening at the Rooftop terrace with terrific drinks and appetizers! We highly recommend the goat cheese peppers! Our server, Carson, made our experience even better!
