Lunch at the outside bar was top-notch. My lobster roll was elite, and so was the calamari. The bartender was extremely pleasant and informative about Newport. After our lunch we went out to the lawn and relaxed. The views are simply beautiful. I highly recommend going here.

Google
This restaurant has by far the best water view dining in the area. Great for enjoying a delicious lunch while watching the sail boats cruise along the harbor. There are plenty of seating scattered throughout the property but on a busy summer day, make sure your reserve a table ahead of time. Food was decent but you really come here for the view and the sun.

Had an absolutely amazing time! We reserved the private Adirondack experience because we were a group of 7. It was so worth it. The service was fantastic. Steph was with us and she was top notch. The drinks were great, the food was fabulous, loved the minister rolls and the view was impeccable. Would absolutely recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Google
Best place there is. Service was perfect, views were perfect and food was amazing. I watched many of the workers being rude to by other patronage but they handled it beautifully and professional. Food was hot and great and the views can not be beat. We sat at the bar as well and the bartenders were amazing. I can not say enough about those that work here. They deserve so much.

Google
Beautiful place to have lunch or dinner. The view of Newport is amazing, you will see lots of birds and boat/ships passing by. The food is top tier ! I recommend the beef carpaccio and the sea bass , you will not be disappointed! All of the staff were really nice and accommodating to my friends with certain food restrictions. Will definitely come here again soon!

Google
My family and I accidentally stumbled upon this beautiful place while on vacation in Newport. When we pulled in we were immediately greeted by a cheerful, friendly man named Dunkin, who was working the valet. Dunkin was super informative about the restaurant, how to make reservations, and other site seeing suggestions in the area. His hospitality and friendliness is what made us decide to come back the next day for lunch. The food was absolutely amazing, the wait staff was so nice and accommodating, the view was breathtaking, and the atmosphere was perfect. We will definitely be returning in the future, and also recommending the restaurant/ inn to our friends and family!

Our dining experience at this place was the absolute best with a stunning sunset view. The Lighthouse Lemonade mocktail and Tide Turner were very refreshing. My husband really enjoyed the Ceviche and the Chickpea Frites were good as well. The Fish Tacos and the Native black Bass were fresh and delicious. They treated us with the dessert of choice from the menu as we were celebrating our Anniversary. The chocolate cake was heavenly. Our server Poppy was an absolute delight. She was friendly, attentive and checked in on us often and even offered to take pictures of us. I made sure to let her that she was wonderful and she left us a note with the check which made our day as well. Overall, what an amazing experience and made our anniversary even more special.

Google
The Lawn Terrace at Castle Hill was beautiful and there were plenty of people enjoying their summer vaca. While the food presentation was 5/5, I had to give a 4/5 for lack of flavor and how overpriced it was for the quality/selection. I got the hot honey chicken sandwich which was dry, the cheese plate which had limited selections for the price, and the passion fruit sorbet for dessert which tasted very watery. I would definitely recommend drinks on the lawn terrace for the views and atmosphere, but the food was lacking.

Yelp
Our favorite place in Newport! We love coming here for lunch or sunset and dinner. This trip we stopped by for lunch and were seated in the front room on a beautiful day! It was restaurant week, but we chose the regular menu items today. Grilled cheese with butternut squash soup was good. We all prefer a sweeter profile for soup like apple/ginger/cardamom type flavors vs spicy with cumin... Chicken salad with fries was solid. My salad with lobster salad was absolutely delicious! Desserts were very good. Nice selection with different flavors. Service was very friendly, although a bit slow today! Just a great place to walk around or sit out and have a drink during the warmer months! Love it here!

Yelp
Highlights 1. Friendly Service 2. Epic Views 3. Good Food Stopped in for the first time today while visiting from out of town and loved it! You must valet your car upon arrival. The actually hotel is very cool, historic and feels elegant. I did not have a reservation, but I was able to grab one of the last spots at the Terrace Bar. The bar is open air and an awesome place to grab food. My server got me a menu immediately and I ordered a glass of white wine and a lobster roll on gluten-free bread. My food came out quickly and it was good! You are definitely paying a premium for the views and I wouldn't say this place is exactly budget friendly. After lunch I ordered one more glass of wine and enjoyed it on "the lawn" which had tons of Adirondack chairs facing the ocean. This is a great place to spend a sunny afternoon!

Yelp
If you want to feel special come to Castle Hill Inn. This is our 8th year coming to this gem and now it just feels like home when we step in... I might have protested a little bit after the price bump but I couldn't stay away for too long. Walking into the restaurant I felt so welcomed. Carl was our server tonight and he was on his A game as always. He really knows the menu inside and out. I'm pretty sure he practices on the delivery of the menu at home. He's a man that takes his job seriously. He has worked at Castle Hill Inn for 2 decades! If you get Carl consider yourself lucky. We ordered from the 6 course menu. It changes quite frequently but some of the perennial favorites are always there. The oysters are served three ways. My favorite was the one with the marmalade. The salty briny taste of the oysters paired really well with the sweet marmalade. Always excited to taste something new! The fois gras is super buttery. Admittedly I don't eat fois gras too often but it's really excellent. Monk fish was very fresh and the dwenjang sauce was surprisingly spicy. Admittedly my 4th course was a little bit of a disappointment. Carl described the Pennsylvania Hen dish so vividly I had to try it. Even though I'm really a strict beef guy. I have a rule about never ordering chicken or salmon at a restaurant unless it's fried chicken or raw salmon. It was definitely presented exotically but the flavors fell a little flat for me. Chicken people will love it. But those beef lovers out there stick with the beef. BTW my kid absolutely loved her beef dish. American Wagyu cooked perfectly medium rare. She savored every bite. My wife looked at her and told her to make sure she marries a rich guy to support her beef habit lol. For the 5th course I had the chocolate dish which was great. And to be honest I can't remember what I had for the 6th course. Food is always great here but for me the service is what makes everything stand out. Carl and Harrison, along with the rest of the wait staff made our night very special. The timing of the dishes were spot on and our glasses were never empty. All 4 of us had a great time and we always look forward to our next visit to this magical restaurant.

Yelp
Lunch was delicious. Fish tacos best I've ever had. Great atmosphere, need to come back for dinner!

Yelp
Exceptional place with beautiful views and tons of seating on a massive lawn overlooking the bay. The drinks were great, however we didnt try the food. Totally worth it for the drinks & view though!

Stacy T.

Yelp
We stopped for a drink and lunch! Loved the clam chowder, burger and espresso martinis. The ambience and service were excellent! It's a prestigious and high price place to stay, but they welcome visitors to stop and experience the grounds. Try it!

Yelp
Shear perfection. Another wonderful stay at Castle Hill. This place is a very special place. The building is beautiful and the rooms are lovely. Classic architecture with modern touches. The profesiltsm of the staff is impressive. Manger Michael, is a treasure for Castle hill. He is a true professional. Location and view are magnificent. Castle hill is the quintessential Newport. It's the perfect example of quality and class.

Yelp
We had our daughter's wedding here. The views were beautiful especially the sunset. The food was amazing. The service was incredible. Carl and Tom are outstanding at their jobs. They make u feel very welcome and special. I would recommend them for weddings, dinner, any time.
google avatar

Danielle P.

Yelp
This was a perfect stop for viewing the sunset and having a few cocktails, yes its expensive. But ii was worth the stop and views alone. There was a wedding the day we visited, so it was very busy. Parking was easy and free down the hill. This place is absolutely beautiful, from the outside and inside. I would def go back and visit on a less busy day. Dont forget to visit the lighthouse, the walk isnt far from the parking lot. Next time I will make reservations to stay and eat, I will most definitely come back and update my review. BTW~ if you have never been on a road trip to Rhode Island, Connecticut, Delaware, Boston its a must. We did a week long amazing trip with alot of stops!

Yelp
Food was fantastic, lots of flavors and was very sophisticated Our waitress was very nice and polite and did anything he could to make us feel comfortable. The restaurant looks fantastic and the sunset was beautiful and so priceless! Highly recommend.

Yelp
We recently had the pleasure of being served at my the bar by Paige. I can't say enough good things! From the moment we sat down, she was incredibly attentive, friendly, and professional. Paige has a real talent for crafting delicious cocktails, and she was more than happy to offer recommendations on the menu. What really stood out was her ability to create a welcoming atmosphere. She has a fantastic personality, always engaging with customers, while managing to keep everything running smoothly behind the bar. We could tell she cares about her work and making sure everyone has a great time. We will definitely be back, and I highly recommend sitting at the bar for an unforgettable experience.

Yelp
Castle Hill Inn is by far the BEST dining experience I have ever had! Jessica, our server was spectacular ! Efficient, knowledgeable, kind, and absolutely beautiful. It goes without saying that the view is incredible, and the food was delicious, but if you want an enjoyable experience, Castle Hill is a MUST!! Oh yeah, you must try the Fingerling Potato salad and the Corn Croquettes!

Elise F.

Yelp
The ambience was very nice! The food was very good! Our server " Debbie " was beyond terrible! Completely unknowledgeable about the most basic questions. Zero personality. Overall the service just really ruined our experience

Cheryl L.

Yelp
So disappointed! Go elsewhere if you have ANY food allergies!! We arrived at the beautiful location of Castle Hill Inn, valeted our cars and admired the stunning views. We had just finished walking the cliff walks so came to this venue with a bit of an appetite and thirst for refreshments. Unfortunately we didn't have reservations and were directed to the terrace bar for open seating. We were able to find seats and were tended to fairly quickly. Ordered our drinks and meals and were ready to 'tuck in'. Just as 3 of our 4 meals arrived, the waiter informed us that one of the meals would not meet the dairy allergy of one of our guest! Really? You couldn't tell us this as he ordered or when you put the order in? Nor did he offer an alternative. Our guest had to root through the menu to try and find an alternative! Then...it didn't come out for another 15-20 minutes! A salad? Horrible. In this day I am truly shocked at the service. It ruined the meal for all of us as we guiltily ate our meals while our guest sat with nothing and watched us. The manager came out with the salad and all he could say was sorry. And we will comp you a drink. Shocking! Sad!

Yelp
Decided to stop for lunch after taking a wrong turn on our way for the ocean drive. One of the best on the spot decisions and a very happy coincidence because this restaurant was open and the valet said the lunch time it's not too strict on the dress code.We were able to get a beautiful table right by the window and enjoyed gorgeous views of the ocean on a sunny spring afternoon. Our waitress Julia was very warm and welcoming and as soon as we heard the special, we had to try it.My daughter and I had a big breakfast that day and decided to have something small for lunch. We had the pleasure of trying the clam chowder, hush puppies and a chocolate passion fruit torte!Everything was delicious!Cornbread's clam chowder was named in the memory of a member of the culinary team for 40 years in which his signature dish was the Inn's clam chowder.A must for sure and one of the best clam chowders I've ever had! The hush puppies special was an explosion of flavors!Fresh and warm ,they were resting on a bed of jalapeños & bacon aioli with frisée and purple pansies! We decided to leave room for dessert and have the chocolate passion fruit torte.Flourless chocolate cake layers with chocolate and passion fruit mousse in the middle, sitting like a pretty castle on top of this beautiful river of passion fruit syrup and garded by this perfect Kahlua Ice Cream!! One of the most epic lunches I've ever had!

Yelp
This place was highly recommended and I don't know why UNLESS you are overtly OBSESSED with: amazing sunsets, romance, people watching, yachtie vibes, great food and reliable cocktails, AHHHHMAZING wait staff (I'm look at you Juliette and Avery.. hopefully I spelled your names correctly) oh and of course the casual multiple celeb sightings (took every ounce of our being to not fangirl especially when you're sitting right next to them.. but privacy and boundaries were respected) if those things matter to you add The Lawn to your bucket list. Unfortunately, we were having such a good time we didn't take any pics of the food but trust and believe we ate lots: watermelon salad, oysters, cornbread; followed by: lobstah roles, fried redfish and more.. everything was magnificent! The view was breathtaking. We were with friends we haven't seen in years and this establishment just made our night enjoying each other's company. Our waiTRESS and her colleague were so professional and probably the funniest wait staff we've ever had. It was like dinner and a two woman show! Take it on the road ladies! We laughed SO hard at all the jokes: inside and overt, silly and smart! They were the sprinkles to my donuts! Juliette is a ray of light and would've never known she's only been there for a month! Thank you and to the entire staff for having us and making us feel special! Can't wait to hang with everyone again!

Yelp
Very classy restaurant. Beautiful location, interesting menu items, and a friendly knowledgeable staff.

Yelp
Just an absolute gorgeous venue. We had a small intimate wedding here and the staff is absolutely phenomenal. The drinks, the food, and location is just perfection.

Yelp
such. a gorgeous. place. the scenery is immaculate, especially if you're sitting right on the lawn. i had a table close to the edge of the lawn that was still in the dining area, and that was great as well. but i would definitely recommend grabbing some adirondack chairs on the lawn if they're free. the staff were all so pleasant, and very knowledgeable about everything on the menu, and the town as well. the drinks were spectacular, and so summery - perfect for sitting on the lawn. the drinks were also pretty strong too, which made the experience THAT much more enjoyable :) the lobster roll i got really hit the spot, and they gave you a generous amount of claw meat with it! the fries were surprisingly stellar. i have no idea what they were seasoned with besides salt and pepper, but they didnt even need ketchup or any dipping sauces. overall, would highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area. just make sure you're ready to break the bank a bit haha!

Yelp
We had the pleasure of staying the night and got to have afternoon tea and a gourmet breakfast in the morning. Included with our stay. The service is absolutely amazing and all of the food was delicious. We also had their 6 course tasting menu at the dining room. The service, presentation and food were exceptional! We went in April so couldn't enjoy the grounds as much due to it being windy and a bit cold but I can only imagine going in the summer and sitting in an Adirondack taking in the incredible views. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the bath tub, the BATH TUB. So divine.

Yelp
Lovely place. Second time staying here with a group. Had a lovely room in the main house. First morning breakfast was good. Had the lobster hash, which was excellent. The servers were busy and forgot to bring our side orders. No one checked up with us on how the food was until we were leaving and it was too late. That evening we had a private cocktail hour and then dinner. Appetizers were good (scallops much better than the somewhat greasy spring rolls). Cocktail service was good. I had the lamb chops for dinner and they were amazing! But I looked to my left and the lamb chops served to that guest did not look nearly as good. BF also had the chops and said his were just ok. So a bit uneven. Breakfast the next morning was somewhat slow, but the food was good. Turndown service in the room was a nice touch.

Yelp
We've heard a lot about this place over the years and finally started to check it out. Post-pandemic, work has been crazy, so we find ourselves taking weekend getaways more than long vacations these days. This is seen as being one of, if not THE, top place to stay in Newport ... and we can kind of see why. Although a bit 'old fashioned' (in a dark wood and ancient windows kind of way) ... it does have that luxury New England resort vibe. I'd put it on par with The Chatham Bars Inn. The service is very, very unremarkable. I'd put it at the level of a Courtyard by Marriott or Holiday Inn Express hotel. Most folks, with the exception of CJ, the greeter and valet who was first class, were just going through the motion ... including the management. It was almost like they were forcing smiles in front of you but were certainly not doing anything customer service-wise to go outside of the standard duties. We stayed in a cabin on the beach and it was fantastic! The cabin was small! Inside everything had its place, stacked or tucked away neatly. However, once you bring in your luggage a couple suitcases make it feel like you are staying in a camping trailer. Not much walk around room ... and the bathroom is located close enough to the bed that you risk hearing sounds through the door. The star of the show is the picture window looking out onto the ocean. You can see the small waves break into the shore from the living room area and in the summer, with the windows open, you'll hear the waves as well. We had a tiny deck with a comically giant table. There was maybe 1 foot of clearance around the table ... not sure whom thought this was a good plan. Many of the decks were longer with direct ocean views and sun lounges. The cabins at the end of the strip have the tiny decks. The furnishings inside are cozy and classy. White painted slats adorn the ceiling and there is also a small kitchenette. If the weather is nice, you won't be inside too much but for a couple the space is tight, but fine. For a family with children, it will feel as crowded as staying in a storage shed. I'd say 250 - 270 sq. feet. I heard that st one time, snacks and water was provided free in each cabin but since covid, that is no longer the case. The bathroom was average. A step-in tub/shower combo, which at $500/night off-season in the winter is unfathomable. The tub was nice ... a bit on the short side but surrounded by marble. I was expecting a rain shower and a glass door vs. the showerhead on the wall with a shower curtain. The heated marble floor was the highlight of the bathroom and very nice in the winter. Bath sheets were fantastic ... bath products were nothing special ... robes and slippers were cheap. We would 100% stay here again, only if in a beach cabin/house just because the cabins are so cozy and unique. Being steps to the beach like that is super exclusive in New England where there are surprisingly few direct oceanfront properties. Don't expect 5-star service ... or accommodations. 275 sq feet for $500/night off season and $1,200 - $2,000 in season is not at all a fantastic value for what you get. However, there aren't too many places like it around. If this was $350/night, we'd be here every weekend.

Yelp
Really quite a beautiful location- and they charge up the kazoo for it. Especially on season. Housekeeping is excellent- and the staff is extremely friendly, if not over-friendly. They seem to be on automatic pilot. Exuberant but unsophisticated- for an upscale resort. The breakfasts, which are good, are supposed to be included in the price, but they ask for a tip. That's ok, but they ascribe a price of $40 to the breakfast, making the tip $8 ($16 per couple). A little tacky, I think. Their homemade baked goods are especially good. Both for breakfast and the afternoon tea. Another annoyance is that they absoultley prohibit late check outs. Not a good policy. (Although they do allow you to use the facility for a while after check out.) Main issue is value. It is not the Breakers in Palm Beach or a Four Seasons, but they charge like it is. Ok for the Vanderbilts and Berwinds, but not the Smiths and Jones.

Kimberly F.

Yelp
Loved the ambiance, great service, best clam chowder, and gorgeous views. Valet parking was nice. Jackson, our server, was very engaging, knowledgeable, and very respectful of the military service senior in our group. What a nice young man, the Castle Hill management should totally acknowledge how lucky they are. It's sooo hard to find the perfect fit. Ask for Jackson he will not disappoint....

Yelp
THIS IS A REVIEW FOR STAYING AT THE BEACH COTTAGE: Please read in its entirety as I am being honest about staying at the Castle Hill Inn in one of their Beach Cottages for a week in July 2024. THE GOOD: 1. Location. You cannot get anything better than this location. On the beach. Step off your deck onto the sand and within 75 steps, you are in the water. It was so wonderful to leave the window cracked at night to hear the ocean. 2. Housekeeping: They were the ones with the best service and always made the room look as nice as it could. Very pleasant and friendly. 3. Front desk: Everyone we dealt with was always willing to help with dining reservations, and things to do and answered questions that we had. THE BAD: 1. The actual room. We paid almost $2,500/night for this cottage. THIS HAS TO BE one of the smallest rooms I have ever stayed at in my life - and I've stayed in some small hotels in Europe! This cottage is so small!! You walk in and your tiny bathroom is on the right (and how they haven't had guests falling getting into their thigh-high bathtub/shower I have no clue!!). The shower also has a half divider that DOES NOT keep water off the floor so every shower, you have to use almost all the towels they give you to mop up the floor - or risk falling. You also have a kitchen (?) for some reason that isn't a kitchen. They have a microwave and plates and cutlery and a mini-fridge...but what are the plates for if you can't cook?? And only 2 forks and 2 knives?? Why bother. Then after you take the one step to get into the room (I'm being honest), you are in the bedroom/sitting room. The bed is called a Queen, but it's the smallest Queen-sized bed I've ever seen. The closet is on the left, but you can't open it more than a couple of inches because it bangs into the side table. WHO DESIGNED THIS?? There is no dresser, but a small cupboard on the side of the fireplace. I guess people who stay here don't need to unpack?? I was just in constant shock at the price they were charging for such a TINY TINY room!! 2. Only 1 ply?? Ok..I know this one is petty...but if I am paying this much money, can you please give me at least Charmin in the darn bathroom?? The toilet paper is see thru it's so thin!! 3. Restaurant/Room Service - Here is where they also fell short. We dined in the restaurant twice for breakfast, and once for dinner and had room service twice. We did not have a good experience with servers and service all 4 times. The room service came cold both times...we complained...they said they would come pick it up...never did...we gave up. 4. Lack of "extra service". We had notified the hotel beforehand that this was a milestone anniversary trip for us. Being the 5-star hotel it claimed to be, we were thinking they would do something nice. NOPE. All we got was "Happy Anniversary" written on a standard welcome letter that they give to all guests. WHAT THE?? Now...the reason I mention this is that I have been to "lesser star" hotels for prior anniversaries or birthdays and they have done some classy, first-rate extras - it just makes you feel special. This one...nope So...I actually wouldn't go back to this property because when I pay this much for a room, I want both LOCATION & ROOM to be nice. The location was great....but there are other places to stay in Newport (or surrounding areas) that would have the location AND nice room. Too bad that this missed it on so many levels.

Amanda A.

Yelp
We have been here every year for the last 3 years since I had my son and we come from NY. When we got to the hosts that were standing outside we asked to sit and have lunch outside. The 6 people standing behind the booth said that we couldn't sit outside because we didn't have a reservation and all the tables were accounted for. As I looked around there was about 20 open tables on the patio and probably more on the other side that I couldn't see. It was absolutely ridiculous and rude. We had our kids with us and didn't want to be inside because they are babies and are loud. We never had to make a reservation before. I don't understand why they told us they are completely booked when they weren't as they thad tons of open tables inside and out. I wish I asked for a manager because they have children running the patio and lying to the customers. I am extremely disappointed in this place and to make it worse when we were leaving all those open tables weren't ever taken, so they could sat us outside! Never coming back!

Cheryl W.

Yelp
It has taken me some days to write this review as I was so disappointed in the treatment a friend and I received when we visited to enjoy cocktails on the lawn. We did not care for our beverages and the bartender at the lawn bar was so offended and rude she picked up her cell phone and turned her back to us and walked out of the area. My previous experiences were nothing less than exceptional and bringing friends here was almost embarrassing the way we were treated. This staff member needs some manners.

Yelp
Wonderful! Definitely a beautiful place to see. And a beautiful restaurant. Very good.

Yelp
Bring your meat thermometer I'll explain why... The beautiful view, our kind server keep this in a three and not a 1 star. Julia was a server in a very nice person... Three out of four meals were good and we enjoyed them... that is 75% or a C... One burger was delivered almost raw. Our friend Julia was very nice and sent it back. Another 20 minutes later they bring out another burger and lo and behold it's not raw but it wasn't medium or even close. After the two strikes we asked to speak to the manager... here's where the day becomes unpleasant. One would think after the first burger comes out they would make sure the second burger was cooked properly and it wasn't... Our server was very nice and apologized. The manager was rude... his first comment was "well what's the temperature?" I normally don't travel with my food thermometer but maybe I should from now on. Honestly the guy was rude and a bit of a snob... I know it's a newport , I know it's a beautiful place but customers are customer and there's nothing more irritating than a snooty employee who could just have been contrite and it all would've been fine. I wouldn't rule the place out but still not impressed with the management

Paul S.

Yelp
One of our favorite restaurants in Newport. The view is a given but food and service is spectacular. Jessica, our server paid attention to every detail and made the experience one we won't forget!

Yelp
Came here for a post-Christmas meal with my girlfriend and my mother we valet parked. It was comfortable seating in a warm, sunny room. We had the wedge salad, which was tasty little light on the dressing. I had the burger my girlfriend had the risotto seemed like she enjoyed the risotto. The burger was tasty nothing special. You're really paying for the name on the receipt. Nothing else.

Yelp
Castle Hill Inn is the place to be for watching the sunset. But get there early if you want one of the adirondack chairs. I went to dinner here and sat in the bar area which also looks out over the water. The lobster that I got was cooked perfectly. The drinks were also great. It probably would have been beneficial for a separate server to handle the "tables" at the railing as the bartenders were busy making all the drinks and waiting on the people at the bar and railing.

WhatLSees S.

Yelp
Not sure what has happened to Newport Restaurant Group but let's start with the SMELL of the insides of ALL of their restaurants: an underlying scent of the wrapping paper that recently bought fish comes in: fishy and unappealing. The food, which used to be top-notch, is meh. We have sent filet mignon back for being gristly, chicken for being underdone, salads that were drenched in dressing when we asked for no dressing, overdone burgers; the list goes on. The wine list is heavy on price and light on taste and variety, it was clearly created by someone who does not know a whit about wine. The service is generally friendly, but the reliance on the seating software leaves guests standing at the maitre d's desk longer than necessary. The decor and architecture in the restaurants is colorless and bland, and at Castle Hill, where they had a chance to create a classic bar as outstanding as the view, they failed miserably. You'll do better at ANYPLACE else.

Yelp
Great atomsphere and location. We went there for lunch in July and were swarmed by bees! They could not control them and this ruined our lunch. I hope they fix this problem this year!

Yelp
Omg where do I begin....my favorite place in the Newport area. You can sit in adirondack chairs and stare out into sea while sipping on an amazing cocktail brought to you by very attentive, personable staff....then walk up the hill to hang by the Terrace bar and have lunch. Loved the blueberry lemonade cocktail, the sunset paloma. We all sampled the clam chowder, lobster roll, grilled romaine salad, farmstyle salad, and I think we even had the tres leches but at that point I was in a food and drink coma so I don't remember much afterwards. It's not cheap though- $400 for lunch...yikes. But still, I could sit on that lawn sipping cocktails forever......

Yelp
07/25/2021 You can look forever and not find a better venue for dinner than Castle Hill Inn. We came here for our 28th anniversary and everything was terrific. The service staff, the view , the ambiance and of course the food. I would mention what we ate, but the menu is constantly changing, so... Nah, except to say everything was excellent and beautifully presented. If you have a special occasion coming up, set up a reminder to call 2 weeks in advance, because they won't take a reservation if you try to make it more that 2 weeks out. We ate inside, which while very good and elegant, was a bit pricey. There is a very cool bar and lawn area to sit and get lost in the scenery... and enjoy some food/drink at more modest costs. Wish I lived in the area... I definitely would be hangin' out at CHI.

Yelp
It's a delightful little lighthouse tucked behind the woods with some magnificent views at sundown. We stumbled upon this little gem thanks to Yelp. This is not a public domain, but rather for patrons of the Inn. There is a trail that will lead you to the lighthouse. It isn't the easiest to find, but I would say that it's not that difficult either. According to visitrhodeisland.com, this was "built in 1898, and stands at the entrance to the East Passage of Narragansett Bay". My husband and I didn't stay long, as there was some pretty high winds when we stopped, and you can't go inside. But you can get some magnificent views and it's a quiet, serene place that I don't think would be too busy at any given time. When we arrived, there was only one other couple there who were making their way out. If you're into lighthouses, this is a must see.

Yelp
Cocktails on the lawn a must if you're looking for a chill Newport summer vibe--servers are attentive and friendly and keep the drinks rolling. Great way to gather a group or meet a date pre dinner as the first stop to kick off a memorable get together.

Yelp
I gave the Castle Hill Inn a four star (which is a shame when you see my review for our stay) because of our dinner meal at The Lawn (very disappointing for a hotel of this caliber, but more about that later in this review). however the Inn itself and our stay this past August was FIVE stars without a doubt. Our dinner at The Lawn (we called too late to be able to secure a reservation in the main dining room restaurant) was average/three stars at best and what brought my overall review rating down. By all accounts this is one of my favorite places to stay. If you're coming to Newport in my mind you can't get a better location. You are literally right on the beach if you opt for the cottage or the beach house rooms, by which I mean you have your own private beach to saunter down to any time you like - to take a dip, to do some yoga, to read a book, etc. There is valet service at the beach also to set you up with towels, chairs and beach umbrellas. On property the INSIDE main restaurant is very good (I wouldn't recommend The Lawn for food, ), the setting is absolutely spectacular - on a bluff overlooking Narraganset Bay and close enough to downtown (15 minute drive or you can take the Inn's launch to Newport Harbor). It's away from the chaos of downtown but close enough that you can still enjoy everything in Newport. I'm a runner so it was also great to be able to easily leave the property and safely run on Ocean Drive, which wraps around all along the Atlantic Ocean and through Brenton Point State Park and residential neighborhoods. The Room - I booked a beach house room which was clean and cutely decorated in a nautical/beachy theme. It was good size, with a king & L-shaped sofa, which became a queen sleeper. The bathroom was spacious and modern with a soaking tub and walk-in shower. The highlight of the room was a private deck overlooking the ocean. Perfect for having coffee in the morning, reading in the afternoon or a glass of wine in the evening while watching the sunset - all of which we did!! The room also had a mini galley kitchen which we found useful with a small fridge, sink, cooktop,, coffee makers (Keurig & Nespresso), and stocked with mugs, glasses, plates, utensils etc. This turned out to be good if we just wanted to have a little snack or something in the afternoon. The Service - They pull out all the stops here as far as service as to anything you need, they are extremely accommodating and everyone who works here is incredibly friendly. One night we dined at up the main house and someone came to pick us up in the golf carts and then drove us home afterwards, which was really nice since our room was a little bit away from the main house. I had asked for recommendations for restaurants in town since it have been a while that I've been in Newport and unfortunately the restaurant we wanted to eat at was completely booked. However the staff kept an eye out and there was a cancellation at the restaurant, which they were then able to secure for us. The little things were nice - the afternoon tea and treats, the absolutely delicious cookies delivered to the room, and reliable, consistent and quick room service. I cannot say enough about the attention to detail - meaning there were no mistakes ever in our room service orders and nothing was ever left out or wrong. They achieved perfection. Breakfast each morning was very good - pancakes were super fluffy and delicious, eggs were cooked perfectly and the hash browns were delicious. The Lawn - the only negative. Dining at The Lawn was poor food-wise, but the the setting is STUNNING. We were seated on the patio reserved for house guests, it was a gorgeous summer, a sunset of golds, pinks and oranges, overlooking the sparkling Atlantic Ocean and sailboats on the water. The cornbread app - greasy and overly sweet. Oysters were excellent, but broken pieces of shell were served. Swordfish - cooked perfectly and flavorful. Tomahawk Steak for two recommended by our server - really terrible. Cooked unevenly and mostly thick fat. For $130 very disappointed. Side of lobster mac & cheese - not tasty/pasta hard/uncooked (& I don't mean al dente) Our server tried to make up for the steak debacle - which left my husband and son hungry since their meal was really inedible - offering dessert on the house, however really what we wanted was to have a good meal. We didn't need free dessert. Not acceptable and we won't come back to dine. I recommend just ordering raw bar and/or having a drink on the lawn to enjoy the setting.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant and gorgeous patio dining. You must have reservations in summer months for patio. Food is good, but not fabulous. It's expensive but you're paying for magnificent view. My husband and I have been 4/5 times over past year. They have great by the glass wine selection. Staff is friendly and accommodating and great!

Yelp
Only went for lunch in December. Menu was limited, though the place was pretty special.

Yelp
Hands down the most beautiful restaurant in Rhode Island with an equally great staff and food. If I had to take a person to one restaurant in Rhode Island this would be it. The view from the lawn is stunning especially at sunset. The food is fantastic as well is the service. And most importantly it is very well priced given the quality of food / service and the scenery. Newport Restaurant Group is the best hospitality organization in Rhode Island!

Yelp

Yelp
My niece was married here last night. Wow! The wedding was outside and it was absolutely breathtaking. Right after the ceremony we were greeted with servers with champagne, wine and delicious appetizers on silver platters and a raw bar too. Amazing food! The staff catered to our every want. It was the best wedding venue! Castle Hill Inn definitely has weddings down to perfection. Highly recommend!

Yelp
This was my first trip trip to Newport and I was told Castle Hill is a must. We were seated right away outside, as it was right before noon on a Saturday. The table we were given was amazing. A shaded table as close as we could get to the lawn, overlooking the water. Our waiter was over instantly and our drink order was taken. While we laughed and waited for lunch, bread with olive oil was delivered; nice touch. Each of us tried something different. I started with the clam chowder, with a bacon mini crab cake inside. For my entree I had the brisket burger and fries-delicious! Service was great and the food and drinks were even better. I can't wait to visit again.

Yelp
This is a must for any visit to Newport. We cycled out there which was really pleasant and wow was it worth it. The views are amazing! Sitting on the lawn overlooking the cliffs and the water. Such a beautiful experience. But the food! Omg. The lobster roll is to die for! The scallops are the nicest I've had in a long time and the foccachia bread. So good. Best meal we had in Newport hands down

Yelp
My wife and I have been coming to Castle Hill for at least the last 15 years. When the weather permits - we love to sit in their Adirondack chairs & enjoy an adult beverage or two. It was a beautiful afternoon, but breezy so we had lunch at the bar next to the main restaurant. This is one of the best experiences and all in Newport. The view is breathtaking and the service is extraordinary! Our bartenders could not I have been any friendlier or more attentive! We started with the croquettes that had a lemon aïoli sauce... to die for! Then we both had salads, that had walnuts and cherries and quinoa with a healthy dollop of lobster salad... it does not get much better than this! Great views, great menu, great service... just a wonderful experience! Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
See my TIP from 2017 .... this will update that. This time lovely day , great spacing, masks galore ... Limited menu due to COVID . Lots of servers but service sucked. Ez order too (gumbo and lobster roll : This stuff is already made !). Even the tea was mid served as we had to flag down some one for milk and sugar. Too long. View is fine but I'd rather good food, less hassle and cost . Btw the gumbo WAS really good if a bit skimpy on the serving and not hot (or spicy). Overall I stick to my first review of 3 years ago after several visits (house mate likes it) : don't go for the food, drink heavily and enjoy the view (see it even sucks more as I am the designated driver too !).
