The Leeway (Catskills & Hudson Valley, New York) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"It’s been generations since the Catskills were as popular an escape as they are now, and the Leeway in Mount Tremper is one of the many stylish hotels taking advantage. It isn’t entirely new: opened as a motel in the 1950s, this creekside property got a kitschy makeover in 2004 by Kate Pierson, frontwoman of the B-52s. After extensive renovations at the hands of its new owners, it was reborn as a boutique inn with rustic-chic interiors, locally roasted coffee, sustainable landscaping, Apotheke bath products, and countless other details carefully chosen to help Brooklynites feel right at home." - Tablet Hotels

We stayed at The Leeway with our family from July 7th to 9th in a two-bedroom apartment, and it was a truly special experience. We were especially impressed by the beautifully landscaped grounds and the breathtaking views of the river and mountains — they honestly left us speechless. It’s the kind of place where you just want to sit with a cup of coffee, listen to the birds, and enjoy the peacefulness. The hotel itself is very clean, with comfortable beds, crisp white linens, and a pleasant scent of wood in the air. Each bedroom has small windows that help you sleep as long as you like — perfect for rest and relaxation. Everything in the space is tastefully chosen — the furniture, the dishes, the little touches — all done with great care and style. In the evenings, we loved playing board games by the fireplace. One very kind gesture I’ll never forget: the hosts kindly lent me a phone charger after I accidentally left mine at home. It was such a thoughtful and sweet thing to do. On the first day, before check-in, we visited some nearby waterfalls and went hiking. On the second day, we did the Rail Explorers ride and had an absolute blast — highly recommended! When we got back home to Brooklyn, my son said: “Mom, I want to go back.” And so do we. We will definitely return to this magical place. Thank you for everything!

The Leeway was absolutely perfect for a quick getaway out of the city and we were able to bring our husky along, too! It can be difficult to find dog- friendly hotels and it was the perfect place for our little family to relax, hike, explore nearby towns and enjoy the beautiful grounds. Our cabin was comfortable, well stocked with all the essentials and we loved hanging out on the deck with our morning coffee. We are looking forward to returning soon with family and friends!

We stayed here for a wedding up the road. It was a great location for us and helpful to have the kitchen. The river in the backyard was gorgeous! Not for swimming mostly wading and sitting in it:) smallish bathroom was harder for anyone tall but overall a great experience. Clean, easy to check in, cute decor.

This was such a lovely place to stay! As soon as you walk in it’s so cozy and inviting. It was clean and well decorated. They had written out local places to eat and things to do which was very thoughtful. Walking down to the creek was beautiful, there’s tables to sit and eat by the water, and hammocks to relax. There’s beautiful string lights in the trees, at nighttime it was just magical! We would absolutely stay here again. Thanks for the great stay! :)

We absolutely loved The Leeway—low key elegance, comfort and a great location. The cabin is a stone’s throw from a meditative river. When we weren’t out exploring the area we sat at the river’s edge soaking in the picture perfect view. Tena made us feel like family.

My partner and I stayed at the Leeway to celebrate our anniversary in one of our favorite places in the state. Our cabin was extremely cozy and perfect for our long weekend together. On top of that, the location is perfect for adventures in Woodstock or many lovely hikes. Tena was very helpful, providing very clear and easy instructions for check in and check out. Many great local recommendations were also provided in our room, which we took advantage of. All of this combined for a really wonderful stay. We will certainly be coming back again.

My girlfriend and I recently spent three glorious days at The Leeway, and we're already planning our return. The staff were super friendly (Tena was a gem), and the rooms struck the perfect balance between rustic charm and modern comfort. From the Brooklinen towels to the Marshall speaker, bedside white noise machine, the decorations, and the incredibly comfy bed and furniture, everything felt thoughtfully chosen. The warmth of the space just envelopes you. The grounds and surrounding area are as peaceful as it gets. The sound of the rushing creek out back sets the tone beautifully. We didn’t get a chance to use the firepit or grills, but they’re a great touch. There’s also a coffee maker and a nicely sized mini-fridge in the room. And if you must, there’s a TV and Wi-Fi too. The perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city, just under 2 hours away from NYC. We absolutely fell in love with The Leeway.

Owner personal contact was excellent and she treated us extremely well. Two separate rooms are big and work very well for us when someone needs a quiet place to rest. There is a backyard that face the creek that is very relaxing. Highly recommended when going to Castkill area!
