24 Best Hotels in Bali

"The handsome and distinguished Legian Bali, a classic five-star hotel, gets repeat guests galore. Hendra Hadiprana’s architecture might seem a little hard-edged and dated when you very first arrive past the high gates, but step inside and you'll be taken with the elegant teak antiques, parquet floors, and captivating art, all mapped out by the late interior designer Jaya Ibrahim. With a prime beachfront position, a show-stopping split-level swimming pool, and rolling gardens with tropical flowers, the grounds are all-out incredible. The 67 suites, grand as ever, follow suit with huge marble bathrooms with his-and-hers sinks, tubs and showers, and Acqua di Parma toiletries." - Chris Schalkx, Juliet Kinsman

The Legian Bali

"Set the scene for us. What's the general vibe here? The handsome and distinguished Legian Bali, a classic five-star resort, gets repeat guests galore. Hendra Hadiprana’s architecture might seem a little hard-edged and dated when you very first arrive past the high gates, but step inside and you'll be taken with the elegant teak antiques, parquet floors, and captivating art, all mapped out by the late interior designer Jaya Ibrahim. Is there a good story behind the place?Opened in 1996 by the late Indonesian businessman Robby Djohan, The Legian has since grown into Legian Hotel Management (LHM), a larger conglomerate. Still, the flagship has managed to maintain the feel of an independently owned hotel. You'll feel centuries-old heritage in a polished context. Got it. So how about the accommodations themselves—from the lobby design to the bedrooms and bathrooms? With a prime beachfront position, a show-stopping split-level swimming pool, and rolling gardens with tropical flowers, The Legian's setting is all-out incredible. The 67 suites, grand as ever, follow suit with huge marble bathrooms with his-and-hers sinks, tubs and showers, and Acqua di Parma toiletries. Across the road, The Club's 11 little villas, a favorite among honeymooners, have four-poster beds and outdoor bathtubs. Once you're settled in, you probably want a bit of a bite to eat. Anything good on site?Plenty of great options. If you like seafood, there's a fine-dining extravaganza on Fridays. Guests at The Club have their own poolside Lounge, which serves Indonesian dishes. How do the staff treat you?The service is flawless. Who else are you likely to see here?CEOs and their spouses and well-to-do families from all over the world. If we feel like venturing beyond the hotel grounds, what's the surrounding neighborhood like?Seminyak, for all its crowds and traffic, also has some world-class restaurants and shops. Is there anything you'd change? The management seemed a bit formal—possibly purposefully so. You mentioned surfing. What else is there to do here?Other fun amenities: a pristine beach, pools, a gym and spa and gym, a kids' club and babysitting services, an oyster bar, restaurants, room service, and Wi-Fi. Bottom line: Worth it? Why?This hotel's reliable quality and heritage hits the mark." - Juliet Kinsman

The Legian Seminyak (Seminyak, Bali) 6 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"On the beach at Seminyak is one of Bali’s most stylish hotels, the Legian. This is a more contemporary and urbane take on the Balinese resort, going easy on the island atmosphere with interiors that wouldn’t look out of place in a big-city boutique hotel. And though honeymooners are of course welcome, the Legian is a bit different in another way as well: an emphasis on public spaces means you may actually find yourself in contact with your fellow travelers, rather than simply holed up in your own private villa." - Tablet Hotels

This hotel exceeded our expectations. The rooms were clean and beautiful, and the spa services are next level. I specifically enjoyed the sauna and cold plunge that I used daily.||What really stood out, though, was the service. Each staff member went out of their way to ensure we were getting the most out of our stay. ||This was easily one of the best vacations we’ve ever had, and this hotel played a huge part in making it so special. We cannot recommend it highly enough and look forward to returning again in the future.

we enjoyed our experience at The Legian Seminyak so much. The hotel location is perfect and the beach in front of the hotel simply one of the best one in Bali. The hotel itself is very well maintained and all indoor and outdoor spaces are superb. Our suite was located on the 3rd floor with a beautiful view over the gardens and the ocean. The restaurant of the hotel is also very nice, and we had 2 very romantic dinners on the terrace. And last but not least, every member of the Legian teams that we had to deal with was very welcoming, smiling and super helpful. If ever we come back to Bali, The Legian will be on our list

We had a 2 bedroom villa in the Club area of the resort. Gita was a fantastic butler, and along with the entire Club staff, the service we received was impeccable. We only had to request something once, and then it would be offered to us the following day again. Gita was attuned to our every need and we really appreciated how he went above and beyond to make our trip more memorable. The villa is spacious and comfortable with day beds perfect for lounging by the pool, and six different positions for the umbrella depending on the position of the sun! Everything is thought of here. The Club area is a perfect place to hand out for a long leisurely breakfast, afternoon tea or evening cocktail, and the Club Pool is great if you want to swim laps or just have access to a bigger pool. The main resort pool has lots of loungers and a perfect view of the beach and that beautiful Seminyak sunset. A fabulous family getaway and we will definitely be back.

This was our second time staying at The Legian. There was a reason why we had chosen to stay at The Legian again. ||We stayed here for 8 nights this time and thoroughly enjoyed our stay again. ||Room - we stayed at the One Bedroom Suite. The room was spacious and comfortable. The room was well stocked with bottled water, coffee and tea, and drinks and snacks, which were inclusive.||Facility - the hotel is well maintained and the environment is beautiful. The pool area is excellent, and there is easy access to the beach which was monitored by hotel lifeguards. ||Spa and Gym - small but functional gym with treadmills, some machines, and dumbbells. Comfortable environment. There was a spa pool and a cold plunge pool downstairs, with steam and sauna rooms and a relaxation area. Our room package included Balinese massage which was excellent. ||Breakfast - there is buffet choices of bread and pastry, cheese and cold cut meat, Asian cooked food (fried rice/noodles/bihun, wok fried veges, meat dish, soup), cereals, fruit and also you can order cooked western food like eggs, bacon, sausages, pancakes etc. Freshly pressed juice and barista coffee are available. Coffee is good. ||Restaurants - we did not use the hotel restaurants this time. ||Location - away from the busy area of Seminyak but still close enough to walk into town. ||Management - the managers made sure that they greeted us both times personally, and also took time to speak to us during the stay. Talking to our hotel driver, sounded like the management really looked after the staff during covid time and I think that’s why staff seemed really happy to work there. ||Service - this is where I think the real difference is made. All staff were friendly, helpful, and genuinely nice. They made a real effort to remember your name and your personal preference. ||We have stayed at some amazing accommodation throughout the world, and I have to say the The Legian is one of, if not the best hotels we have stayed at. ||Thanks very much for the fond memories and we will be back

What an incredible way to end our Bali vacation — 3 nights at the Club by the Legian in Seminyak. First of all, would like to thank Henry (hope I got the spelling correct), the manager of The Legian hotel for offering my fiance and I a private villa on the club side — we had originally booked a room on the hotel side. The villa was simply gorgeous, with beautiful amenities, and we were never too far from the main pool or beach area so we really appreciate the beautiful grounds of the club, and the level of attention and service that came with it. Special thanks to our butler Astika for taking such great care of us. We felt very welcomes and wish we had stayed longer. Truly one of the most pampered hotel stays I have experienced. Thank you and hope to see you next time!!

I’m not sure how to sum up The Legian Bali except to say – it was perfect. The location couldn’t be better, right on the beach with the sound of the crashing waves always in the background. Our room was huge, beautifully designed, and had one of the most stunning sea views we’ve ever enjoyed. The style of the hotel is gorgeous – luxury without being flashy – and everything feels calm and effortless.|The service was just as impressive. Every member of the team was professional, warm, and genuinely friendly. But it’s not just the people, or the location, or the beautiful rooms – it’s the way all of these things come together that makes The Legian so special.|For sure there are hotels in Bali that offer more extravagant luxury, but for us, this was perfection. We loved every moment and have already made plans for returning.

Exceptional service from every single staff member. You can feel such a great vibe amongst the team at the Legian that you just know they are happy to be there. We even met the longest serving staff member who has been there 27 years and the General Manager who farewelled us as we departed! |Our bed was super comfortable, and they provided a soft mattress topper which made it even more comfortable. There were so many thoughtful touches - face mist spray and cold towels at the sun loungers, staff member cleaning your sunglasses, endless bottles of water in your suite, complimentary minbar restocked each day, extensive turn-down service every evening where they refreshed your towels, pulled your blinds and prepared your bed.|The location was excellent with having an amazing outlook and the beach out front was by far the best with being clean in comparison to the beach further down. We enjoyed daily walks along the beach and the sunsets were amazing!|The gym facilities were immaculately clean, and we were impressed with the equipment to use. There was also a sauna and steam room. |Highly recommend this resort, especially for couples or families with older children. I liked that it was not overrun with children and had a peaceful vibe.

If you’re looking for something very special this is the hotel to stay in. This hotel is a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of seminyak. It’s perfectly located and only a short walk to some of the best restaurants and night clubs. |The hotel’s accommodation, restaurants and facilities exceed your expectations. |We have stayed at this hotel three times and this wonderful experience never disappoints.
