24 Best Hotels in Bali

"The handsome and distinguished Legian Bali, a classic five-star hotel, gets repeat guests galore. Hendra Hadiprana’s architecture might seem a little hard-edged and dated when you very first arrive past the high gates, but step inside and you'll be taken with the elegant teak antiques, parquet floors, and captivating art, all mapped out by the late interior designer Jaya Ibrahim. With a prime beachfront position, a show-stopping split-level swimming pool, and rolling gardens with tropical flowers, the grounds are all-out incredible. The 67 suites, grand as ever, follow suit with huge marble bathrooms with his-and-hers sinks, tubs and showers, and Acqua di Parma toiletries." - Chris Schalkx, Juliet Kinsman

The Legian Bali

"Set the scene for us. What's the general vibe here? The handsome and distinguished Legian Bali, a classic five-star resort, gets repeat guests galore. Hendra Hadiprana’s architecture might seem a little hard-edged and dated when you very first arrive past the high gates, but step inside and you'll be taken with the elegant teak antiques, parquet floors, and captivating art, all mapped out by the late interior designer Jaya Ibrahim. Is there a good story behind the place?Opened in 1996 by the late Indonesian businessman Robby Djohan, The Legian has since grown into Legian Hotel Management (LHM), a larger conglomerate. Still, the flagship has managed to maintain the feel of an independently owned hotel. You'll feel centuries-old heritage in a polished context. Got it. So how about the accommodations themselves—from the lobby design to the bedrooms and bathrooms? With a prime beachfront position, a show-stopping split-level swimming pool, and rolling gardens with tropical flowers, The Legian's setting is all-out incredible. The 67 suites, grand as ever, follow suit with huge marble bathrooms with his-and-hers sinks, tubs and showers, and Acqua di Parma toiletries. Across the road, The Club's 11 little villas, a favorite among honeymooners, have four-poster beds and outdoor bathtubs. Once you're settled in, you probably want a bit of a bite to eat. Anything good on site?Plenty of great options. If you like seafood, there's a fine-dining extravaganza on Fridays. Guests at The Club have their own poolside Lounge, which serves Indonesian dishes. How do the staff treat you?The service is flawless. Who else are you likely to see here?CEOs and their spouses and well-to-do families from all over the world. If we feel like venturing beyond the hotel grounds, what's the surrounding neighborhood like?Seminyak, for all its crowds and traffic, also has some world-class restaurants and shops. Is there anything you'd change? The management seemed a bit formal—possibly purposefully so. You mentioned surfing. What else is there to do here?Other fun amenities: a pristine beach, pools, a gym and spa and gym, a kids' club and babysitting services, an oyster bar, restaurants, room service, and Wi-Fi. Bottom line: Worth it? Why?This hotel's reliable quality and heritage hits the mark." - Juliet Kinsman

One of the reasons that we chose to stay at The Legian in Seminyak was the fantastic reviews it had received from repeat guests and we were delighted with our choice. The hotel is a relaxing retreat set in beautiful grounds and the service that we received was outstanding. ||We stayed in a two bedroom suite, which was very spacious for our family of our four (including two adult children) for five nights and enjoyed using the well equipped spa and beautiful infinity pools. We would also recommend the restaurant, which we visited on two nights during our stay. We would particularly like to thank the breakfast team for their personal welcome every morning and Tude, who was our driver for a day trip out to a turtle sanctuary, beaches and the GWK cultural park for making our stay so special. ||Thank you - we would love to return!

Myself and my husband spent a fabulous 11 nights at The Legian in May 2025. We requested a high floor, knowing the views of the gardens and ocean would be stunning and we were not disappointed. The chiefs who made the most fabulous cuisine, which we really enjoyed and also the staff who waited on us. We also arranged with Janu (concierge) two full day trips out to see and experience some of the sites of Bali, using the hotels car. A special mention to Oka, our driver on both occasions, very friendly and obviously very knowledgable, indicating points of interest as we drove. As we visited temples, he had also arranged and dressed us correctly with sarongs, which we both received compliments from staff within the temples. A special mention to all the staff who looked after us on our stay, and what is more amazing, that ever member knew our names and room number, which is a special torch and have not experienced that personal detail previously.|As we spent a lot of time in the hotel and the ocean bar, I would like to give a special mention to Made Dorma, Eddy, Cendana and Suantana and the pool assistant guys, who made our stay very special and hope to return soon.

The Club By The Legian Seminyak, was nothing short of heavenly. Our Butler Devi anticipated our every need and was nothing short of spectacular. So much of our trip was surrounded by the interactions and guidance we had from him and to be honest, he and the rest of the staff were amazing. The villa and grounds were clean and immaculate with the gardeners being the unsung heroes. The general manager made himself known to us which we appreciated and thoroughly enjoyed our conversations and getting to know him as a person as apposed to "the boss". The people are what makes this place so special. Such hard working, beautiful people who made our stay the most relaxing dream. Devi and all the staff at the Club Villas, thankyou for making our holiday so special. Im sure you hear this all the time but we miss you all.

Absolutely sublime – The Legian Hotel is in a league of its own! From the moment you arrive, there’s a distinct feeling of coming home. The staff go above and beyond to make you feel like part of the family – warm smiles, genuine conversations, and an effortless attention to detail that makes every guest feel truly special. The hotel grounds are simply breathtaking. Immaculately landscaped gardens, serene pools, and the gentle sound of the ocean just steps away create an oasis of calm and beauty. It’s the perfect place to unwind and reconnect. The rooms? Spacious, spotlessly clean, and beautifully appointed – a true sanctuary of comfort and luxury. Every little touch feels considered, from the plush linens to the thoughtful layout and soothing decor. And then there’s the afternoon high tea… what a treat! Complimentary, generous, and absolutely delicious. It’s the kind of indulgent ritual that quickly becomes the highlight of your day – lounging with a cup of tea, a selection of sweet and savory bites, and that incredible view. The service is impeccable from start to finish – attentive without being intrusive, polished yet personal. The team here truly defines hospitality at its finest. We can’t wait to return – The Legian is now our home away from home.

This property is absolutely gorgeous. We booked a two bedroom suite and were allocated the third floor, which had an amazing view of the sea but low enough so you could still hear the ocean. The service was so personal and lovely with many staff knowing our names on day one and making us feel like an extended part of the hotel whanau. The accommodation wasn’t cheap but it would be hard to stay anywhere else. We loved it and appreciate all of the team’s efforts to look after us so well.

This experience was exceptional, with luxurious features in the villa and in the private yard and pool area. A dedicated Butler (Astika - thank you) ensured the experience was unforgettable. Exceptional staff with exceptional customer service, all with a desire to help. The experience was nothing more than perfect. Highly recommend and will be back.

This resort is absolutely amazing! The venue is perfect and the staff go out of their way not only to make you welcome and comfortable, but also to learn what coffee you like in the morning, where you prefer to sit at breakfast and dinner, and what tea you like to drink in the mid afternoon. They will move beach umbrellas around you while you sleep so that you do not get sunburned! It was a long trip from San Francisco to Bali, but if we do it again, I would definitely stay at the Legian Seminyak, Bali!

This was yet another amazing stay at what we believe is the best accommodation in Bali. We have now stayed at The Club by the Legian Seminyak on numerous occasions and also the main hotel itself, and once more it did not disappoint in any way.||The staff are truly outstanding and leave no stone unturned to ensure that your stay is nothing but magical. Each and every member of staff is amazing however, we have to say a special thank you to Swi, our Butler during our stay. Suta, one of the most attentive and supportive members of The Club staff, and last but not least Dewi, the Head of Concierge in the main Hotel. ||We will be returning to the Hotel in the not too distant future, which will as always, be like returning home. Thank you so much, to each and every member of the team for your wonderful service and attention to detail, and we look forward to seeing you all again soon. Roger & Paul
