We had a lovely night’s stay here and a really delicious dinner and breakfast. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful and made us feel really welcome. Dinner was absolutely superb and my son loved the half pint of prawns. We couldn’t fault anything really, and the steak and ale pie was really worth the wait, my husband assured me. Breakfast was delicious and make sure you try the home made granola! We’ll definitely be back and we remembered our cheese!

The Afternoon Tea… wow. ‘Miniature’ versions of the main menu items, with an alcoholic drink (I went for the peach bellini) and a pot of tea or coffee, for £35! I was served soup, a steak pie, fish & chips, chicken strips, chips, a cheese steak burger. All with a jug of gravy, mushy peas & a hot sauce. As well as all this there were 3 desserts; a warm apple crumble, freshly baked scone with cream and jam and a mini chocolate cake. Mamma mia. The guy said nobody finishes the whole thing and always asks to take some away with them, which I reluctantly did due to having no room left in belly for rest of day. Bear in mind you have to book the afternoon tea 24 hours in advance but it’ll be the best meal you’ve ever anticipated. The main course meals I didn’t get a chance to try but they were the biggest finest looking plates of food you’ve ever seen. Shout out to the amazing friendly, funny and not overbearing staff who seemed to remember all their clientele even though most people are passing through for just a day or two. Dead cosy proper-pub vibes for a nightcap by the fire too on your way home. A million out of ten pub x

Had an overnight stay in the hotel and dinner at the restaurant. Really enjoyed my time here, pub is cosy and welcoming. The room was comfortable and spacious and had a fantastic shower! Would’ve been nice for a fridge, but that’s just preference. Also, a very minor thing was a slight lack of attention to cleaning, especially cobwebs on the walls. Dinner in the restaurant was very tasty, and staff were very apologetic and offered complimentary items due to a longer wait than anticipated for the meal. Breakfast in the morning was also top notch. Lovely area with some stunning walks. Would recommend wholeheartedly!

We had an amazing stay at The Lister Arms in Malham! The room was cosy and comfortable with lovely exposed beams, and it was wonderfully quiet. The bed was super comfy and perfect for a great night’s sleep after a big walk. The shower was hot with excellent water pressure (very important to me!) and was absolutely perfect. The food was fantastic—the Yorkshire Burger with chorizo jam is an absolute must-try! We also had the fish and chips, beef short rib, steak pie, treacle tart, and sticky toffee pudding sundae, all of which were five-star. Breakfast was one of the best I’ve ever had, with a really tasty fry-up and a great selection on the continental side too. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home in true Yorkshire style. Not just dog-friendly, but dog-enthusiastic! It’s also perfectly located—you can make it part of a lovely two-hour loop walk taking in Malham Cove and Janet’s Foss. Can’t wait to stay again!

Had a lovely 2 night stay in September. The room was very cosy and well stocked. There was a large bathroom with both a shower and bath, perfect after a long walk. The restaurant had launched their Autumn menu and this was delicious. I’d recommend the Short Beef Rib, which was fantastic. Very conveniently located for the circular walk to Malham Cove / Gorsdale Scar. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely comfortable stay! I had a cosy double room and it certainly was! The bed was very comfy and the entire room was to a high standard with an array of coffee and tea to keep me going. The pub itself is well kept, cosy and welcoming. The breakfast and dinner quality was excellent and extremely filling. All the staff were friendly, professional and nothing was too much trouble!

Perfect location for Malham hiking and visiting the cove. Great service, atmosphere and people. Loved the dog friendly bar and dining, breakfast service included a sausage for the pooch which was a nice touch. It’s an old building so the rooms have some… camber? But they’re quiet and comfortable.

Very disappointing stay at the Lister Arms, travelled here based on the pictures and reviews for the Savoury Afternoon Tea. We were the only diners seated in the dimly lit dining room , next to the kitchen door, served by a waitress in between cleaning and tidying up, when we commented on the temperature of the food all she had to say was that it had been probed before leaving the kitchen, she offered to get it reheated for us - Really!!!!! The manager did refund the cost of the Tea when we settled our account but said it was the first complaint ever received.|Breakfast wasn't much better we heard diners on other tables being offered black pudding which isn't included as part of the full breakfast and toast for the table, we had to request these items when we were served our food, the beans were just as cold as the savoury afternoon tea !!|Very small basic bedroom and showroom , Rose scented shower gel not really suitable for Male guests but a good choice of Tea/Coffee and milk supplied in a flask by the bar staff, we were woken early by bottles being tipped in dustbins outside the nearby bar, overall a very overpriced and disappointing stay.

Yelp
When you've hiked and tromped through the hills and fields of Malham, there is no better reward than grabbing a bite and a brew from the Lister Arms. Originally built in 1723 as a 4 bedroom house, this pub/ bed & breakfast is a the perfect place to get a 'little more than your average' pub fare after a jaunt through the Yorkshire Dales. I was there this past March and enjoyed the rustic atmosphere, the vast beer selection (including Thwaites and Wainright) and some perfectly prepared steak and kidney pie. The staff is pleasant and the service was good. This is one of the few places in the village to get a beer and a bite... and if you're lucky enough to get here in the spring or summer and walk the hills, it's likely that while your dining at The Lister Arms that the families of ducks outside the window will keep you entertained. They certainly kept my attention.

Yelp
Of the two pub choices in Malham The Lister Arms is by far the most stylish - a lovely old building which has been updated so that it retains much of its original charm. There are three "rooms" in the pub area and a separate dedicated restaurant area. We had taken the precaution of booking a table for two in the restaurant area at 8pm on Wednesday evening which was wise as it was a busy evening. We were given a friendly but somewhat harassed greeting by one of the young waiting staff. After a long day walking we were hungry so we made our choices quickly from the well priced, for Malham, and good looking menu which was made up in the main of "pub classics" Sensing that things might be going slight off the rails in the kitchen we ordered a cold starter of smoked salmon in the hope that this might be served relatively quickly while I had the sirloin steak for my main and B went for the gammon with bubble and squeak. I won't drag this sorry tale out but our starter never did arrive, we were offered two sets of dishes destined for other tables and our main courses took over an hour to arrive. When we finally did get to eat our supper it was tasty and well presented (possibly helped by the fact that we had drunk a bottle of wine while waiting). When the guy behind the bar asked if we had enjoyed the meal I mentioned the problems with service: he shrugged and said it was a busy night in the kitchen due to a large number of "walk in" diners. In my naïveté I thought that a booking system was designed to avoid such difficulties and indicate when the kitchen was at capacity point - not at The Lister Arms unfortunately.

Yelp
The Listers is a great pub, with nicer than average rooms, quite modern with a bit of character. Great beers (Thwaites) and lovely food- you get a table in the residents bar/restaurant if you are staying. Big roaring open fire in the Winter, and pretty village, all in walking distance of the awesome Malham Cove, and Gordale Scar, an impressive waterfall crashing through a spectacular rocky cleft. You can take in both in a walk from the pub, with some great views out over the Yorkshire Dales. Book well in advance!! Great weekend away venue, and a more luxurious alternative to the nearby campsite!

Yelp
Impressive building with attractive interior. Small selection of beers of which one was off but no-one had bothered to spin the label around. Staff were universally sour-faced and unhelpful. The woman we tried to give our food order to stood holding a pad of paper but insisted she couldn't take the order and we'd have to return in 10 minutes as orders had to go through "live to the kitchen". We asked why she couldn't write the order down on her pad and take it through in 10 minutes but to no avail. We didn't understand this and walked down to The Buck Inn. I recommend you do the same.
