Fantastic Stay at The Litchfield Inn We had a wonderful stay at The Litchfield Inn. The property is beautifully maintained with a cozy, welcoming feel. Our room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable — the perfect spot to relax. The staff was friendly and helpful throughout our visit, and the breakfast each morning was fresh and delicious. The location is ideal too, with easy access to local shops, restaurants, and beautiful walking spots. We were also excited to hear about the new pool addition coming soon — it’s a great enhancement that will make future visits even better. Can’t wait to come back and experience it! Highly recommend The Litchfield Inn to anyone visiting the area.

We wanted a quiet fourth of July weekend and stayed here. The Inn is set back from the road with a huge lawn in the back so great for us and the dog (hotel is dog friendly). They did a lovely job with the decor: muted whites and dark wood and all very serene. Plants add to the charm. The staff was helpful and cheery. Breakfast was a good selection and thoughtful for a small Inn. The bathroom had not been redone but was serviceable. I did appreciate that coffee/tea/snacks was available all the time...a nice touch and shows that they are trying to make people comfortable.

The Litchfield Inn is a true oasis of peace and relaxation. Its incredibly quiet and serene location makes it the perfect place to unwind and recharge. Surrounded by nature and set away from any hustle and bustle, it offers a calm and restful atmosphere that’s hard to beat. The classic New England charm is present throughout the property – beautifully designed, cozy, and full of thoughtful details. You can really feel the love and care put into everything here, from the tasteful decor to the premium bath products like high quality shampoo, shower gel, and lotion. The staff were all extremely friendly and welcoming, always happy to help and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. One highlight: water and small snacks like chips and cookies were always available, a wonderful touch that made our stay even more enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a peaceful getaway with top-notch service and beautiful surroundings. Would absolutely stay here again!

Me and a colleague stayed here for five nights for work. We brought our departments service dog with us. There was zero issues with having the pet with us. Beautiful location and hotel the staff was extremely attentive. The beds were big beautiful high off the ground which I enjoyed. Breakfast is the best part of this place with the made to order omelets. Large backyard that was perfect for our service K9. It was quiet and peaceful staying there a true inn vibe not like a hotel. I will be staying here again when I come up in a year.

We had my daughter's wedding at a venue in the area. As many of our guests as the Inn could accomodate stayed at the Inn and everyone loved their rooms. They also hosted the Rehearsal Dinner which was great, an "after-party" for people to wind down, and the made to order omelettes (and more) the morning after the wedding topped off a great weekend. They were even able to provide our guests who stayed at Air BnBs in the area with breakfast too. Syed and his team were great to work with and very responsive to our changing guest list and room changes up to the last minute. Truly a great experience and could not have been happier.

What more can be said about Syed and his team at The Litchfield Inn beyond perfection. My wife and I recently got married there and they not only made us feel special, but all of our guests as well. From their warm and inviting welcomes, delicious breakfasts and unique and well appointed rooms. Given the chance to choose again, I would 100% pick them. I truly cannot wait to go back to stay again.

We stayed in the Kings Cabin room. The room was lovely and comfortable. I know the idea of the room was rustic, but more electrical outlets and or USB ports would have been convenient . The bathroom was ok but for the price, should have been larger. Also, the shampoo left our hair like straw and again for the price and the “spa like feel” of the Inn, a much better grade shampoo was expected. The breakfast was absolutely wonderful. The variety of the offerings were plentiful and the omelette station was rare and appreciated! The chocolate chip cookies were amazing and offered throughout the day and evening, as was fresh, bottled water, and other snacks and coffee, a huge plus. The Inn is lovely and clean, and I would highly recommend it.

Google
I highly recommend the Litchfield Inn for your next getaway / overnight stay. The interior is absolutely gorgeous. The service was excellent, beds extremely comfortable, and breakfast delicious. It even smells amazing! The outdoor firepits and garden area is very relaxing. It’s also a great location, great restaurants and libations nearby. I stayed with three friends to celebrate a 50th birthday and the front desk arranged for a bottle of champagne, chocolate covered strawberries and included a sweet note in the room. Thank you for making our stay so comfortable!

Yelp
Loved our stay at the inn. Great location and beautiful drive coming in. There are various nooks around the inn to sit and hang out, which my family and I absolutely enjoyed. They also had bottles of water, cookies and snacks throughout the day. The space was just beautiful, and each of the rooms were comfortable. The star of the show is the inclusive breakfast which includes eggs/omelets to order, with all fresh ingredients! I would happily stay here again.

Yelp
The Litchfield Inn was the perfect place for a short stay while I was intown to try the Arethusa al tavolo restaurant nearby. The hotel has very nice architecture and the suite I booked was perfect for my husband and I and our dogs. The amenities are great. We had a whirlpool tub to relax in and plenty of space to kickback and enjoy the electric fireplace. The complimentary breakfast was better than average. I definitely took advantage of the omelet station. The diversity of breakfast options was appreciated as well. The staff were friendly and even offered treats for our dogs. I'd definitely come back. Thank you!

Yelp
I recently hosted a family event at The Litchfield Inn and it was perfect. Syed was beyond helpful as was each staff member I (or one of my party) interacted with during our stay. The rooms are excellent, the breakfast is delicious, and the location is so beautiful.

Yelp
Here is my stab of the ultimate review of The Litchfield Inn: (No other garden has ever inspired as such) The Litchfield Inn Where fairies dance in the Autumn hue, belies in a meadow, no grandeur garden blew. a rank of snowballs drumming a beat, cornflower husks driving in prickly headed cleats. The dog days are welcomed, while the staghorns blush, to crickets and bees making their rush, Where life slows down just enough, to inspire a poem, to herald an Inn, -off the cuff! §Margaret Paulson

Yelp
Stayed here on a recent business trip. Surrounding area is quite magical in appearance during this time of the year. Nothing overly spectacular but it kept me warm. Bathroom needs an upgrade to a modern layout. Overall, you're gonna need a car if you plan to do any shopping. Which is also great for exploring the area. I wish I had more time for a scenic drive on this trip though.

Yelp
We stayed there for two nights and we expected to be staying in a much nicer inn than what we encountered. The room was "recently renovated" and we must say poorly done. The heating system is not adequate and the finishes were cheap. The dining area is dirty and old. The tile around the electric fireplace was the leftover cheap bathroom tile. There is no bar. The door onto the roof is literally onto the rubber membrane covered roof.

Yelp
So pleased with our recent visit. We are on a trip throughout New England and this was our first stop. Litchfield is a quaint town and the inn fit right in. Upon arrival we were greeted by a friendly young woman who gave us great directions around the inn and we went up to our room. The inn itself was immaculate and had a warm feeling to it. Our room was perfect and the beds were so comfortable. The breakfast served was fantastic and e ate like kings! Will definitely stay here again!

Yelp
I had a lovely stay at the Litchfield Inn. I visited a little over a week ago for my birthday and enjoyed every moment. The front desk worker Chantel was friendly and checked me in quickly. I stayed in the Bridal Suite (let's call it the queen suite lol) and it was beautiful. The gold accents throughout the room and bathroom were tastefully appointed. By far my favorite part of the room was the waterfall shower. The complimentary breakfast was nice with a made to order omelet station each morning. The property is also gorgeous and I definitely recommend spending time on the patio with a good book. I have included a few photos. Videos are available on my Instagram @whollyalaina (Travel Highlight). Go ahead and book your stay - you won't regret it :)

Yelp
My husband I stayed there for a few days and was so impressed by the quality and friendliness of the place. It was so clean and very beautiful. I would highflying recommend this place and will definitely go back if we are in the area.

Yelp
I know I've reviewed this before but there's no review up for some reason. Valerie and breakfast deserves 10 stars! It is one of the most welcoming, most wonderful breakfasts anywhere I've had in the world. Literally and seriously. It is on par with one of my most favorites in Paris. The Inn is doing a great job of reinvigorating the place on. each and every stay. I enjoy my time here and am grateful they are pet friendly as well.

Yelp
WOW! I wanted to go on a little getaway with my husband to somewhere with a luxurious bathtub. So I googled away and this is how we ended up here. We choose the Cloud Nine room because the had a tub I could live in. Check in was smooth. It was very quiet. We went during the week so I only saw 2-3 other guests during our stay. So many details: the door knockers on each bespoke room, the nice bath accessories like bath salts and bubble bath and cookies when you arrive. Our room had a lovely seating area in front of an electric fireplace that we used to play a board game at. Each corner you turned in the hotel had another hidden treasure with lovely seating areas, fireplaces, books and more. Another huge perk is the complimentary breakfast. Both mornings I had a omelet where you choose all of your add'in's and a staff member makes for you on the spot. We were also treated to bacon, sausage, waffles, pancakes (with warm maple syrup) and many other pastries and juices. The breakfast alone would've cost at least $20 per person if you were to go out to eat. I can't wait to return and try out another one of their bespoke rooms. What a New England gem.

Yelp
How on earth does this place have bad reviews?? I guess many of them are old, so maybe the hotel has improved. Our room is amazing. Spacious, comfortable bed, arch-shaped doorways, a bar with stools, chandelier. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. It's buffet style and there were tons of pastries, yogurt, omelettes, etc. My husband and I are obsessed with the little seating areas with books. I picked up a novel and am reading it quite happily on a comfortable armchair. There are also outdoor seating areas, although the weather is bad this weekend so I haven't tried them out.

Yelp
From the front desk, to the breakfast buffet staff, to the cleaning ladies, to the owner, the service level at the Litchfield Inn was terrific. Everyone was friendly and responsive. Our room was spacious, clean, quiet and very comfortable. The common areas are impeccably appointed with colonial decor and historical themes befitting this beautiful inn and town. The omelet station and complementary breakfast buffet far exceeded our expectations. We are looking forward to a return visit!

Yelp
Good enough rooms and hospitality but is "cold" and no restaurant of any nature with iffy breakfast

Yelp
We had a great stay! Beautiful rooms...clean and great linens and towels as well. Staff was very warm and accommodating. Cathleen and Sayed both took care of us and were wonderful. We will definitely be back for another stay. MC/KC

Yelp
I feel as if I went to a different hotel than the other reviewers. The bridal suite featured dingy paint, dirty windows, broken furniture, incessant noise from some HVAC unit, and a mattress with a waterproof cover. (I haven't slept on one of these since college--I didn't like it then and I didn't like it now.) Someone else's tortilla chips were on the indoor/outdoor area rug. The receptionist ignored late-night noise in the hallway. If you want a motel experience, stay in a motel.

Yelp
All Awesome -- location, facility, ambience, cleanliness, staff! Stayed here after a family Christmas party and was met with a most friendly desk clerk; and next morning the buffet breakfast and staff were equally welcoming (and breakfast was amazing)!

Yelp
The Litchfield Inn was there when I needed them, and I can't ask for anything more. After years of risking life and limb climbing a flimsy excuse for stairs from the 1970's, finally someone was commissioned to upgrade them. The downside... It takes more than one day to custom fit a set of sturdy stairs, and my house, like many, only has a shower upstairs. Dear Yelp readers, I cannot fathom the idea of going to work the next day without a shower, so I turned to the local hotel options. The Litchfield Inn was reasonably convenient in terms of location. There weren't any reports of bed bugs or drugged out hotel employees in their reviews. The price, in December, was cheaper than anything closer to work in Hartford. The employees at the front desk always had a smile for me, and I had to wait once to check out but otherwise nothing from the front desk detracted from the experience. The icing on the cake was they gave me two complimentary cookies at check in! My nostalgia may be colored by the fact it was 8 pm and I hadn't eaten since lunch, but I recall that they were fine cookies. There was slight awkwardness when I finally walked down to my room, where I and my light-up Snoopy overnight suitcase walked right into a crowd of fire fighters and hotel guests. The latter had been locked out of their rooms with the deadbolts in place. How this happened, and how it was resolved, will remain one of life's little mysteries. It is a testament to the quality of their walls that I couldn't hear any carrying on three doors down as the door was negotiated open. The room was clean, the beds high and overflowing with pillows. There was complimentary Fiji water and mints. The shower, accessible when my own was lost to me, functioned perfectly and got me to work nicely groomed. My only lament is breakfast is not complimentary, and didn't start until seven. Otherwise, I look forward to finding sanctuary again the next time a vital part of my house is dismantled.

Yelp
This is a wonderful inn. It's beautiful and everyone is so accommodating. The complimentary breakfast they serve is phenomenal. I had a great time there!

Yelp
Beautiful Inn- Great staff lovely grounds, the common areas were quiet and relaxing. The location is perfect just far enough out of town to feel peaceful and serine yet still conveniently close to shops and restaurants. We loved our stay!

Yelp
Quick overnight trip and such a delightful hotel! Valerie at the breakfast bar was absolutely amazing. Homemade Apple fritter that was to die for, a homemade Bundt cake and a parfait bar (to name a few special touches). Our room (wine cellar theme) was adorable and the garden and fire pit at night were charming as well. Highly recommend this place and it's warm and welcoming employees.

Yelp
We enjoyed our stay. The stars of our stay were the staff. Everyone was helpful and very friendly. Everyone was happy, from our maids to the owner's son. The rooms were clean and well decorated, with a decent size refrigerator, microwave and tv. Stayed in a handicap accessible room. The shower came with a chair. Having a shower chair is rare, but highly appreciated when traveling with a senior family member. The breakfast provided was great. Each morning you are given a nice variety to choose from for breakfast. The omelets were made to order and the cook took great pride in preparing each one. My only suggestion is to lower the height of at least one of the beds in the handicap accessible room. It was quite a challenge to help my senior family member to get on/or in the bed. The location was a challenge for my phone carrier. (T-Mobile). The wi-fi works well at the Inn.

Yelp
Place is just ok , awful breakfast with coffees from an machine ans not w ? Really mark of laziness

Yelp
We had a delightful stay at the Litchfield Inn. We loved our room. And Valerie's lemon cake at breakfast is not to be missed!

Yelp
Just stayed there for three nights. Checked in, young woman on the phone at the front desk and three other employees behind the counter. No one said Hello or good morning, i just stood there until i asked if this was a self service hotel and if i should go find a room myself. One lady spoke up and said "she's on the phone" and i replied "I'm not blind, I can see that, should I leave and come back or are you going help me?" Phone call over, lady on phone checked me in. Only took 10 minutes of awkwardness. First room was the bohemian room, i did not request it. AC blew lukewarm. Next day after the band downstairs sounded like it was in my room until 11 or so I asked if i could have something done about the AC, lady came up and fiddled with it but it still blew lukewarm. I asked for another room, she said no problem. Next day, They moved my stuff, i packed it up and left it all in the corner. That night i noticed a trader joes paper shopping bag with about $45 of snacks was not in the new room. I asked, they said it probably got "left behind". I asked if they could ask the maid who cleaned the room where it went and they said "she probably assumed it was left to be discarded". I replied that nothing was opened and it was in a shopping bag, newly purchased, not half eaten. She replied "sorry". I asked if i had left behind a watch or a diamond ring would the maid "assume" it was left to be discard? did they have a lost and found? No reply. I asked a second employee and got the same apathetic look and reply. No help. It was like they were afraid to ask the maid if she took the food. I sit on the edge of the bed that night, BOOM! slats fall off rails and mattress goes to ground. (no box spring, just a mattress) Ugh. I fixed the bed slats, BOOM! happened again. I gave up after trying to call front desk, NO ANSWER. Slept on a slope. Fun. Last night, watch TV until 9, called front desk asked what time restaurant served food until, she didn't know and could not connect me. Thanks. Great customer service, I guess she had to get back to the bejeweled game she was playing on the PC and could not be bothered.... The place was ok, somewhat clean, they tried to renovate, it was quaint,,,but the help REALLY needs to be trained. They have very little customer service training. And at the prices they charge, they should be a lot more accommodating. This is not a Super 8.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed at the Litchfield Inn on Sunday August 1, 2021. The room was very clean, bed super comfortable, staff delightful and the breakfast exceeded our expectations. Would highly recommend staying there, we will be back in the Fall for the foliage.

Yelp
Super pricey for what you get. Paid $29 for, what turned out to be a small "angus" strip steak. Came with a steak sauce that was basically ketchup with some spices in it. I ordered medium rare and it came out medium-well done. Just a bad all the way. Appetizers were ok. Service was good, nice people. They need to hire a chef that understands steak though, seriously ketchup with an expensive steak is just blasphemy. Very clean and modern interior design.

Yelp
Updated: Now that I am well rested and I have seen the room by daylight, I see that the room was never fully vaccuumed. The doors to the unoccupied rooms are all open to show off the newly remodeled rooms which just further illuminates the fact that I am in an old room. I believe I am paying full price as well (to be staying in an old, unrennovated, room). Am I comfortable... yes, but this room was waaaaaaay dirtier then I thought. Also, this evening (Wednesday) the evening entertainment has become and I can hear the music clearly from my second floor room. Joy. Original: Well, I have checked in, ordered room service and am now finishing a lovely banana creme brule with a glass of wine. My kid is sound asleep, I am on screaming fast wifi (accessing my computer from home using some heavy programs) and watching Skyfall. My room is clean, neat, large with a couple minor scuffs and hiccups that come with an old building that is used as a hotel. The lobby was gorgeous, my bathroom was well stocked. If I had any complaint, it would be that the free water provided in room (this is a small complaint) was a larger bottle and not a mini, or that the water is dealt with because the dial was all the way to hot and was at best luke warm. Might be different tomorrow if I get up earlier I'll bet.

Yelp
My Wife, daughter and I recently stayed two nights with the Litchfield Inn. I am originally from Litchfield county. I moved out of state 7 years ago. This was my first visit back in over 5 years. We chose to stay with the Inn due to my memories of it being one of the nicer places in the area. It resulted in mixed feeling though. The check in: Check in was quick and painless. Receptionist was friendly and informed us of the weekends entertainment and continental breakfast offerings. The Room: our room was on the second floor and to the very rear of the Inn. It was a long distance back but I assumed they were rooming people in that section due to some of the renovations that were being done at the front. The room was nice with lots of new upgrades, including most of the bathroom, sink, flat screen TV and some of the furniture. The pull out couch was terribly uncomfortable and the A.C. Unit when turned on was very loud and vibrated. I chose not to use it. My biggest complaint was of a very obvious stain on a chair in our room that clearly was exactly what I thought it was! ( think male body fluid). I notfied the front desk girl and turned the chair around so my wife and child would not sit in it. The desk girl said "I'll make a note of it in our system" instead of sending someone to remove it or clean it. The next day after room service we found the chair moved back to it's original location and not cleaned. The rest was the room was cleaned and nice. The Breakfast: Bottom line_____ It SUCKED!!!! We showed up right in the middle of serving time so the quality of the food is not excusable. Dried up waffles and no syrup at all. We ask if they forgot to bring it out. Answer; we don't have any but you can use jelly packs. Wtf! Behind the front desk they sell real maple syrup! The Inn could buy a bottle from themselves to ensure there paying costumers have some syrup with their dried up waffle. The egg dish they offered was so dry and burnt I could not eat a bite of it. I'm not sure what they were thinking when they served this crap. Every person in there was of the same belief. Sausage and bacon was good. Day two we chose to go buy breakfast rather than eat that food for free. The lobby and sitting room (downstairs): both nice and well kept. Business center was nice as well. The gym was better than nothing but very small and limited equipment. Dumbbells max out at 25 lbs. some treadmills...... But again i like that they have something. Entrance: clean up the nasty ciggs! It's gross. Improvements are clearly being made but some services need to be payed better attention too.

Yelp
Great hotel to stay at especially during COVID! Came through Litchfield after skiing at Mohawk Mountain. Beautiful entry room, and the hotel overall was spectacular. Wonderful and friendly service, breakfast was also great. Clean, pretty rooms. Gorgeous outdoor area, would be perfect for any events (was even nice during the winter). Would come here again just for the hotel. Can't recommend enough!

Yelp
You know what, between the Winvian and Mayflower Inn charging $700-$1200 a night for a basic room - The Litchfield Inn is ideal if you're like us, visiting friends, hanging out at their house, going out to eat but you like to always stay at a hotel. For $200 and change we got the Lady Agnew Suite. Subtle (emphasis on subtle) throwback to an era when brass beds and matching drapes and sheets in purple were oh-so-stylin'. The room was very clean and had a working fireplace. Nice. Right? One thing though, the TV was so dated (think cube shape) and small and so far away from the bed you had to take a cab to it to even hear anything. Weird! And again, I am one of the people that just sleep in the room but you got to have the TV on to remind you that it's even a room sometimes. So TV needs to be updated STAT. We have not tried the restaurant so I can't comment on it but our friends who live close by enjoy the bar and the food. Next time.

Yelp
OVERPRICED!! never paid that much to stay in such a bad room...our room was...just terrible we should have driven a little longer and pick one of the tons of motels around there (cheaper and definitely nicer!!) service? well..even worse...considering we paid about $400 per night we expected at least a nice breakfast...NOT AT ALL...the jam was so hard there was no way to spread it on the toast, empty carafes on the table and a long waiting for the refill, definitely not something you look forward to jump out of the bed for!! i would NEVER recommend this place

Fred G.

Yelp
The best reason to stay at Litchfield Inn is Breakfast. (Skip the horrible coffee -- looks dark and rich but tastes like water.). The omlette station is friendly, inviting, and imaginative. A real bonus are the special cakes and casseroles which are made by a real human being (Valerie -- the shining star at Litchfield Inn). Go for the clean and spacious rooms but come back for the delicious casseroles and cakes. Management could easily open the Inn to the public for breakfast and it would be Standing Room Only!

Alison N.

Yelp
Spent the night here recently, because we were unable to get in the hotel we had hoped for. What a wonderful surprise. Room clean, well-appointed and spacious. The complimentary breakfast was outstanding. A wide variety of choices and Matthew made delicious omelettes. Valerie was warm and welcoming. An incredible value and great choice for the future.

Yelp
I really loved the location, room, and ambiance of this inn. We booked well in advance knowing that the fall would be a high season. They were hosting a wedding the night we stayed but, as busy as the hotel was, our room was very quiet. Speaking of the room - we were in 205 and it was a huge room! The entire room & bathroom were super clean and the bed was comfy. In the morning I made my way down to the breakfast room where there were three staff waiting to make omelets. It was pretty dead and I only wanted coffee but they were very friendly. The breakfast was very similar to what you'd expect at a Fairfield Inn or other that has an upscale free breakfast. I only needed coffee so I can't speak for quality but I'm sure it's fine. I'd recommend this Inn to anyone seeing as how it's on the same road as Litchfield Distillery, Arethusa, and the shops of downtown Litchfield. And Kent Falls Brewing is also just 15 minutes away if you're headed out there for a weekend.

Mary Beth D.

Yelp
August 2012. This place is a disaster. To begin with, do not believe their website. 32" flat screen, high count thread sheets, microwave, ergonomic chair, pillow-top mattress, desk? Not one in sight in our room. Rather, a smoky, stale room, aging television (the primary palette of which was pink), non-functioning remote, threadbare synthetic sheets, an ironing board cover that looked as though a child was nauseous on it, and plug-in fireplace. Nice. Litchfield? Think Yonkers (with all due respect to Yonkers). We left at 9:30a this morning, and returned at 10:50p to find our room had not been made up. When the Front Desk was approached, the response was, "We were busy today, and the maids leave at 4.00p. I guess they didn't have a chance to get to your room." Oh. Really? That's a bit disappointing. Can we get a drink? "No, we're closed. The bistro closes when the last person leaves." But we're here. "We're closed." The idea of customer service doesn't seem widely socialized here. Four staff members were clustered at the Front Desk this morning, trading stories, while the flowers in front of the front door were dying from lack of water. Few seem really focused on hospitality, or on delivery of a great product. We did have a pleasant time in the bar last evening, but the goodwill generated by the two women working last night was rapidly dissipated by the lack of execution and indifference of today. Try somewhere else.

Justin H.

Yelp
This hotel really is a fine establishment. The staff was excellent, attentive, friendly and courteous. The best thing about this hotel is that it is a gauge free zone. There are complimentary water bottles in the room, complimentary coffee in the room, bath robes, refrigerator, flat screen TV and a microwave. The renovated part of the hotel is where my girlfriend and I stayed and it was spectacular, especially for the price. It just goes to show everyone once again that big chain hotels and many other hotels kill you on every last thing for no good reason. We felt welcomed at The Litchfield Inn and they didn't knock us over the head. Great experience and will stay again if I am in the area.

Yelp
I wrote a bad review of this Inn a year and a half ago. I was thinking of trying it again, looked on Yelp, and my review is GONE. How did that happen?

Leah Z.

Yelp
I got married there in June 2013 and though it was a bit of a rough road getting there, with lots of management changes and broken promises, they pulled together an amazing day. I would recommend this to any one looking for a personal wedding with great food and the ability to have an entire venue to yourself. With a small number of rooms we were able to room block the entire hotel and got the run of the place from friday-saturday night. They also kept the bar open for us for the after party and provided late night catering for our guests. When we first booked we were promised a total overhaul of the ballroom and landscaping. I will say most of that did not get done till last minute (like 2 weeks before the wedding), but once done it all turned out great. Also, the food here is amazing, all our guest raved about it, and through it was not as good as our tasting it was still pretty amazing! They also provided a lot of extra h'orderves at no extra charge. Lastly they are very reasonably priced, especially when compared to Winvian or the other specialty location in the area.

Conscientious R.

Yelp
I used to live in town and The Litchfield Inn has always been a bit of a wreck in terms of staff and service. We were thinking of having a number of friends gather to celebrate a birthday, but after several days of attempting to get someone on the phone to talk us through our options and getting hung up on several times, getting an answering machine, and finally a person - who told us to call back - we said forget it and went somewhere else. Perhaps they are performing upgrades to the interior, but the staff is still a problem. Buyer beware. If you have to put some people up - look in Torrington - it's only 15 minutes away and Waterbury about 30. There are also several nice event locations in the area.

Yelp
My family went here for Easter brunch. The setting is lovely But the service was lost nonexistent. We literally had to find out own salt and pepper shakers, find a water pitcher and fill our glasses, and it wasn't just our part... This was what we witnessed at every table. The buffet line was poorly designed, causing people to stand in line for extended periods of time. The guy working the carving station was also responsible for making pancakes, which was too much for one person to handle given the volume of customers. On every level, there was not enough waitstaff. In addition, the only dessert offerings were brownies and rice crispy treats. Kinda odd for a $40 holiday buffet. Having said that, the food we actually ate was exceptional. But unless the service improves, I would not consider going back.

Yelp
A beautiful place to stay when in the area. The rooms are large and clean. We had a function close by so we didn't eat or drink while at the inn. But the place was quiet and very elegant.

Yelp
I've stayed here a couple times and it's ok if all you need is a place to sleep. Looks charming/rustic. Wouldn't expect much in the way of service. I recently made a same-day reservation an hour before their cancellation cutoff time and called a few hours later to cancel. I thought they'd either waive the charge or at least some portion of it since they had plenty of unbooked rooms and likely didn't miss out on someone else taking the room. However the woman I spoke to when I called to cancel and ask for consideration on the charge (given the timing) was pretty dismissive. I called again today to follow up and got the same response. Wish they applied the same discipline to service as they do to their charge policies.

Yelp
I am not sure why there are some negative reviews for this inn. I was nervous to stay here this past weekend because of some of the things people wrote. I can be a very picky traveler. However, I waited too long to book a hotel for a wedding and couldn't get into the official wedding hotel. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful. Check in staff were very friendly, helpful, and fast. The room had character, was very clean, and was comfortable. I loved the little quirks of the inn like the reading nooks in the hallway and the interesting door knockers on the rooms. I would definitely stay again. I feel like I stayed at a different hotel than the other reviewers!

Yelp
My husband and I spent the weekend at the Litchfield Inn on a Travel Zoo sale and were very pleased with our stay. The recent renovations at the Inn are beautiful with an elegant foyer with marble floors and an inviting common room with fireplace, comfortable and lovely furniture in two seating areas, a large flat screen TV and books available for your reading pleasure. The chandelier in the foyer is magnificent, there is an elegant cooler of flavored water (cucumber slices one time, lemon another) available, and a graceful curved staircase to the second floor with an old-fashioned carriage filling the area under the staircase as decoration. Bantam Bistro is directly off the lobby. Our room was on the second floor in what appears to be an addition to the original main building. We had a L-shaped deluxe King room and it was huge! The king-size bed was comfortable, had lovely bedding and plenty of pillow and looked inviting when we walked in. There was a small flat-screen TV for use from the bed, and then a couch and larger flat-screen TV in the L-section of the room. Three large windows faced the unpaved and wooded side of the parking lot so the view was decent. The windows opened and we enjoyed the fresh air in our room. We had a small refrigerator and microwave and plushy terry robes in the closet. The extra blanket we requested was promptly delivered. The bathroom amenities included spa-style soaps and creams. The sink was a raised, modern bowl and faucet - a nice touch that looked very fresh and trendy. The alarm clock was an iPhone docking station with a USB port for plugging in a tablet or other device. The whole room looked new, fresh, and recently updated; we were very pleased with our accommodations. In fact, my only complaint is that the free Wi-Fi didn't quite make it to our room at the end of the hall and most of the time we had no connection, and when we did, it was very poor. The Wi-Fi was fine in the main part of the building and even down the hall in the small seating area off the stairs, but it was frustrating to not be able to use my laptop in my room. This Inn is a great place to stay for a weekend getaway or if you need a comfortable place to stay in the Litchfield area. I'd recommend it.

Yelp
The inn was very pretty and our room was remodeled. However the water in the shower was lukewarm at best. After a day in the snow a cool shower was not pleasant. We also had to pay $3 for toothpaste. The service at the restaurant was also poor. Chaotic would be the best word. The food was good but we did not feel like a "guest". We felt like we were inconveniencing the staff here. Not the best feeling!

Yelp
Avoid this place if you want to actually get some sleep on a work night. It's a Wednesday at 11 p.m. and a band is raging right below my room. Luckily the girl next door is even more pissed off than I am and is actually going downstairs to complain. Phone calls don't appear to do anything. If you like to party on a Wednesday, go for it. But if you want to actually, you know sleep in your hotel room, avoid it.

Yelp
Quite the wonderful little Inn. Excellent room with a very comfortable King-size bed. A separate area with a couch and T.V. Complimentary cookies & chocolate mints upon check-in. Excellent staff (Dana) and very friendly personnel in general. Breakfast was excellent with a young lady making omelets to order. A self serve waffle maker (which made decent waffles) and fresh LOXS :). I would highly recommend this Inn.
