Bars and Nightlife in Phoenix

"Named after its mascot, a little wooden owl, Little Woody is a popular underground bar that’s hidden except for the neon red owl sign. Wood paneling, log-cabin wallpaper, a vintage shuffleboard game, darts, skee ball, and foosball create a casual and nostalgic atmosphere. Signature cocktails like the Rhubarb Rye Old Fashioned, an impressive whiskey collection, and custom whiskey flights will leave you satisfied when it comes to drinks." - MATADOR_NETWORK

Wow love the vibe of Little Woody, its a great dark intimate space, with darts, pool tables, and just an all over great vibe, smoking area out front, 2 separate bar areas for when the crowds get larger, 2 areas with restrooms. The main Bar area has booths and long shared wood slab tables. The bartenders are exceptional what they do slingn drinks, and keeping the chill of Little Woody.

From the moment I walked in the door, I was greeted with kindness and felt taken care of. The service here is hands down the best I’ve ever experienced in Arizona. Every staff member was attentive, making sure I had everything I needed—I never had to wait for anything. Truly above and beyond service. Highly recommend checking this place out!

What we ordered: Spinach artichoke dip Margarita focaccia pizza This happened to be pretty close to a spot me in my bf were eating at so we decided to check it out by the pretty pictures and oh my gosh is this a new favorite dive bar for me, I am definitely going to be a regular here now. It is so pretty spacious and they have such great deal as well. They have a good selection of food which I’m excited to try in the future. Should have gotten more photos they have skeeball here , pool, that game with sand on the table I can’t recall haha a patio and another room of pool ! The food soooo good and a good portion for the price !

I'm happy to provide a positive review for The Little Woody! This establishment truly stands out for its cozy and inviting ambiance. The Little Woody offers a fantastic selection of craft cocktails and a wide variety of spirits, making it a go-to spot for those looking for a well-crafted drink. The bartenders here are not only skilled but also very accommodating, often going the extra mile to create personalized cocktails or recommend something special. (Amanda)The overall atmosphere is relaxed, making it a perfect place to unwind after a long day. Additionally, the unique decor and vintage feel add a charming touch to the experience. Whether you're a cocktail enthusiast or just looking for a great place to socialize, The Little Woody is a must-visit. I highly recommend it for a memorable and enjoyable evening!

Google
Always a favorite for us. They always have good service, good drinks, and surprisingly good food. I love that we can play skeeball, darts, pool, etc here. (You do have to have cash to play the arcade style games, there is an ATM but you'll be hit with ATM fees). Tonight they were supporting almost there rescue which is a rescue I absolutely love. I cannot recommend this place enough, it holds such a sentimental value for us (we met here for our second, very impromptu, date) and it's never let us down.

Google
This is a really cool place. We entered from the back. The entry is dark and mysterious...you don't even know it's there. But then you open the door to red lights, awesome drinks, and amazing food. Very romantic. Dark and cozy, great for date night. Pool table in another room if you want to hang with your friends. The food was fresh and tasty. Bartender was great!! I think her name was Stephanie. Such a cutie. Take your date here, they will thank you. 😊

Google
Very cool place and is a great hangout. But bar struggles to keep up-even when not so busy. They could do so much better. Bartenders aren’t the problem-management is the issue for allowing the short staff and not providing support for the bar with women that can cover the floor and game rooms. The sales would double keeping the drinks coming.

Google
Really neat place, the staff is super nice...good appetizers especially during happy hour.

Yelp
This bar is hidden. I have driven past here so many times with no clue it even existed. I found out about it from a friend who suggested meeting here after work. We made it for happy hour right when the doors first open at 4pm. I didn't know what to expect but upon entering the inside was dark with the red lights lit. The bar area was the brightest and there were seats available. As I wondered around before hitting the bar, I peeked in the connecting room where there are a few pool tables to shoot pool. Then when I made it to the bar, bartender Kristie mentioned they have a separate room for arcade and other games. She was super nice and was ready for me and my friends drink orders. I asked if she could make The Night Owl margarita without the jalapeno since I wasn't in the mood for spicy. This drink was amazingly good. I sipped on this slow to enjoy the flavors. Around 5pm the crowd started to come in. Then the noise level picked up. I'm so happy this is close to home and work so I can go hangout and not have to go far.

Yelp
The Little Woody is a fantastic spot if you're looking for a low-key, unpretentious place to grab a drink. It successfully nails that cozy, slightly retro neighborhood bar feel, it's dark, intimate, and always has a welcoming energy. Atmosphere & Vibe: The décor is cool and quirky without trying too hard. It's definitely a place where you can relax, chat with friends, and actually hear yourself talk, even on a busy night. It never feels overly clubby or hectic, which is a huge plus. Drinks & Service: They have a solid selection of craft beers, but the real star here is the cocktail menu. Their bartenders are efficient and know their way around a classic drink. Service is typically friendly and attentive, though it can take a moment when they're slammed on the weekends. It's a reliable, cool hangout that's perfect for a casual date night or a late-night drink with friends. Not a 5-star because maybe the seating can be limited, but overall, it's a strong four stars and a favorite spot in the area!

Yelp
Little Woody's has a great social atmosphere and can be a fun place to grab drinks with friends, but the cleanliness took away from the experience for me. The bar area and seating felt worn down, and there was a strong smell inside that made the space feel a bit unkept. It still has potential as a lively neighborhood spot, but a good cleaning and refresh would make a huge difference. We just drank and I'm not sure they have food. It is located in the cutest area and conveniently near other bars, so it makes for the perfect place to start your night for a little. Service was great and the music was good, as well.

Yelp
Went to this place early last night around 840 to get a drink after dinner. Friends and I got drinks and checked out the place. Great decor. Decent drinks. The person who checked us in was so complimentary and nice. One thing to note is that gettin there early it was nicely filled but someone kind of quiet, with some music playing so if you like a more lowkey volume, that's your place. I probably won't run to go just because my friends and I were weirdly judged on the patio while talking and hanging out to the point we just left. Service was good, drinks decent, ambiance so so. Check it out, get your own feel.

Yelp
Cute little dive bar in Arcadia! Make sure to follow your map--you might miss the turn otherwise (I have before ). It's a bit hidden, but definitely a great find. Drinks are a bit pricey, but the inside is surprisingly spacious, with multiple areas for general seating, games, and more. Can't speak to the food, but drinks have always been good. Nothing fancy or overly amazing. The owl theme is fun, and the place is decently clean. Security is always friendly, and I appreciate that they have a view of the parking lot, makes me feel safe walking to my car as a female guest.

Yelp
Great spot! Even though they call themselves a dive bar, they surpass dive bar standards. Earlier in the evening, they have their craft kitchen open. Nachos are great and the Mac and cheese is nearly to die for. Their classic cocktails are 7 dollars on happy hour In terms of activities, they have pool (free on mondays), skee ball, darts, and more! There's three separate seating areas so plenty of space to go around. I think the same bartender has been there both times I've been (Monday from 5ish to 7) and she's always super friendly with speedy service, and her french 75 can't be beat

Yelp
This is one of our favorite hidden bars. They have a great happy hour from 4pm-7pm and also do trivia on Tuesdays. We love the different rooms that they have. If you're looking for comfy couches they have a great room off to the side with pool. They also have a separate area with some bar games and another bar is open there on busy nights. We like to go during the week and it can get pretty busy and crowded on the weekends.

Yelp
Pros: * great centralized location * cool cabin in the woods kinda vibe Cons: * Super loud! Its more of a casual log cabin type of vibe with seating and pool tables that makes you want to interact but its hard to because the volume is at night club levels Pro / Con * The music wasn't my vibe I would definitely recommend a new DJ mix. If you like pop music from multiple genres mixed with house beats and a couple bad rap hits then it might be your thing. Think Dancing Queen, Thriller, I'm Every Woman, and Shake it Like A Salt Shaker in an 8 min set.

Yelp
First time at this bar and loved it. When we walked in we didn't realize how big the bar actually is. There are 3 sections. One has arcade games, darts, and other games. Another section has pool tables. The main section has different seating options. The entire bar has an owl decor/theme. There are many different drink options. They also have a food menu. The service was amazing. The bartenders were great. I really enjoyed my time here and will definitely be back.
google avatar

Yelp
I came here in April and discovered they have a dance floor in the back which I love. I thought both the Dangler and Petal and Pose cocktails were good.

Yelp
As dive bars go...one of the best I've been in. As Phoenix's second olds bar (just behind the Bikini Lounge), they have maintained a really great legacy. I didn't try any food but just stopped in for a night cap which was made perfectly by a great bartender. I didn't catch his name but he made me feel welcome on my first visit. If you want to avoid crowds, pop in here on a Monday night and play some free skee ball! Just some good fun!

Yelp
HUGE NO. We made the mistake of pulling up to The Little Woody on a summer night, which apparently doubles as the off-season for fun. I've been here once during the winter, and it was at least twice as packed. This time? It felt like a family reunion where everyone RSVP'd "maybe" and then ghosted. As the designated driver (aka the only sober person brave enough to take mental notes), I ordered a soda. Easy, right? Wrong. What I received was allegedly a Coca-Cola--priced at eight dollars (yes, $8!)--but tasted more like it had been strained through a Brita filter. No syrup. No fizz. If this is how they treat soda, I can only imagine what they're doing to the cocktails. If your Coke is watered down, your Jack probably is too. The DJ--or, as I like to call him, the Spotify Shuffle Intern. This man was just hitting "next" on a single-artist playlist like he had somewhere better to be. No transitions. No mixing. Just a continuous reminder that music curation is, in fact, a skill. The ambiance? Imagine an indoor networking mixer at the Catalina Wine Mixer. Blazers. Everywhere. At midnight. In Arizona. In July. One guy looked like he'd just walked out of a WeWork with a half-finished pitch deck and a sudden craving for tequila. Why are we dressing like it's a TED Talk in a dive bar? If you're 22 and looking for a good time, this ain't it. If you're 42, and looking for an underground--watered down Catalina Wine mixer-- found it. Literally try anywhere else. Preferably with syrup.

Yelp
This spot is your classic Arcadia bar: a lively weekend hangout filled with young professionals (21-35ish) looking to have a good time, dress to impress, and enjoy some tunes. If you visit on a weekend, expect a wait, which is totally not the bartenders' fault. Maybe it's because everyone is ordering Espresso Martinis nowadays haha. I typically go on a Friday or Saturday's since I get out of work late and the place is near my house. I recommend taking an Uber or Waymo since parking around the bar can be hard to come by, unless you park next door at the restaurants, which I don't think allow late night parking. My main complaint I have about Little Woody's is DJ Starmarz. While his music mix is okay to good, it often feels like he's playing for himself rather than the crowd. I once tried to tip him to play a song, and he shoved me pretty hard when I approached the booth. I get that DJs have a tough job and don't like being hassled, but I was trying to be respectful. Still, I was pushed and yelled at but I'll attribute it to him having (another) bad night. Security there is nice and respectful every time I've interacted with them. I haven't tried the food so no review on that, but if you and your friends are up for a divey spot with decent drinks, fun people-watching, and okay tunes in Arcadia, this might be the place for you.

Yelp
Great Phx bar. My friends and I came here to celebrate. They have 3 different rooms with different vibes - one bar and sitting, one dancing, and one pool tables - so definitely great for everyone. Also the drinks were amazing!!! My friend said her mule was fantastic. I got a specialty drink called the poise with gin. Would come again!
google avatar

Yelp
Ambiance was amazing and festive! Rob the security on duty was a gem and was very nice. I strongly recommend this bar if you are looking for a good time!

Yelp
I went on a Thursday and it was kind of small, but the music was good and the bartenders know their drinks! There was some cute ladies there as well, and even though it was small, it was cozy, I would def recommend it to friends and family! Thanks guys I'll see you guys really soon again.

Yelp
Great service and vibe. Have pool, darts and shuffleboard. Bartender was amazing. Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
I came here for a happy hour/networking event. Location was a touch obscure & I either missed the sign or it was not existent. Parking is SO LIMITED. Once I got over the parking sitch & walked over to the bar, I was immediately hit w/such a strong odor of marijuana. I know, "it's legal," & while this is true locally, it isn't federally. I digress, I'm not a fan of the smell but overcame it & made my way into a dimly lit bar. There is skee ball in the back room. I ordered a sapphire martini, up w/2 olives. Perfectly made. Perfectly delicious. Very happy. I ordered at the main bar since the bar in the back room was closed. Quick & efficient service & friendly. This is the kind of feel good, everyone knows your name kind of joint. I can definitely see the attraction. It's not my style but would recommend giving it a try if you're in the neighborhood. Just be ware of parking.

Yelp
Solid hh drinks and food. Go for nachos cause even though the pretzels and poppers are great you don't get too many! Classic drinks are very solid

Yelp
I really like the service here and I like the way it's decorated. The place just feels a tad too dark but overall will still recommend this place.

Yelp
I went with a friend to this dive bar after dinner on a Friday night. It's so cute inside and it leans into the owl and log theme. I got the season cocktail, I don't remember what was all in it, but it reminded me of an espresso martini - so good! The first room was a bit loud, so we went into the 2nd room where there was a couple of pool tables and a seating area. The music was much quieter here and we could actually hear each other and have a conversation without yelling. They have some food/snacks as well but we didn't order anything since we were still full. By the time we left around 9pm, it had gotten much busier and they bumped up the music volume in the 2nd room to the point where it got more difficult to hear each other.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm obsessed with this place. We love going early to catch happy hour at 4. The $7 old fashioneds are the BEST. So good and real luxardo cherries done right. The Mac in cheese is insanely good and such a big portion. The staff is really nice and even the cook staff comes out and says hi. The owl decor is cute and it's dark and sultry in the front bar. They have club like vibes on the weekend which is so fun!
google avatar

Charlie M.

Yelp
Possibly my favorite Arcadia "dive" bar. Love that they have 3 rooms. One for dancing, one for drinking and sitting, one for drinking and playing games. Drinks are strong and service is fairly quick considering how busy it gets. Always a good time.

Kelsie M.

Yelp
OK, so the little woody is probably one of our favorite divey dancing bars to go to. We are frequent here because the prices are great and people are diverse and fun. They have food out on the patio. The hot dogs are our favorite. For some reason the DJ is just never the vibe. I even had one of the employees tell me that not a lot of people like the DJ that was there last night. I tipped him $20 cash to play some music. And then when I requested one specific song to be played, he acted like I didn't tip him and he didn't have the money anymore. Honestly, I was just really disappointed for him to act like I didn't contribute to his tips and pretend like I was an idiot and didn't remember... I tip DJs all the time and request songs while out. This was just really not prime behavior for one of our fav spots. Still giving 5 star because overall I highly recommend this place.
google avatar

Cindy L.

Yelp
Interesting little place definitely the front room is lively. It's like they had two different venues. The bar in the front and a bar in the back they were in the front had a bunch of seats and the lighting was fun I really enjoyed the back room. Shuffleboard, darts, foosball, can't remember the other games but they do have a bar back there as well. Had a bunch of different kinds of food they were tasty, the bread for the grilled cheese was too hard and too thick otherwise I would've given them a six. I forget our waitress name but she was great as well. I WOULD RECOMMEND
google avatar

Stephanie M.

Yelp
Our experience was less than exciting here. 1. This place is kind of hard to find due to having NO sign on the establishment. 2. The bartender figured that a Sex on the beach was made with Tequila instead of Vodka and then when you mention it to him he's not happy. 3. When you order your meat and cheese board, it never gets to your table so it was extremely disappointing all the way around I honestly wanted to really like this place because there was so much to do in lines of games for being a bar. To make this long story short after an hour of waiting we got up and left without ever getting anything to eat.
google avatar

Vivian H.

Yelp
Cute place to grab some drinks with friends and boogie down to some good beats. Came here with some friends on a weekend and this place was lit. Nice hip hop jams playing, people shooting some billiards and definitely try their cocktails. I had the Beeting and it was beet based cocktail and I loved it! So flavorful and tasty! Some guy came up to us asking where I was from cuz I had a cowboy hat on and I said, "Gallup NM." Then he says, "oh ok. You earned the right to wear it. It's not like you're from NYC or something!" I just kept my mouth shut, winked at him and smiled at him. Hee haw!

Jashyard J.

Yelp
Terrible experience, rude bartenders and very very unacceptable behavior of the staff. 0/5. Stay away.
google avatar

Miguel V.

Yelp
Fun place to have a drink and play pool. High recommend 8/10 Great location for bar hopping.

Justin S.

Yelp
Great place to have fun and enjoy yourself but terrible customer service. Also, More staff is definitely needed on weekends.
google avatar

Ashley G.

Yelp
First time here tonight and it lived up to my expectations - security was thorough and consistent but very friendly and relatable - bartenders were very attentive and i definitely observed that they were giving full attention to each of their customers who were ordering or even just talking their ears off, it was refreshing to be around people who seemed like they actually liked their jobs being around other people - the crowd was very friendly and i felt safe that the security and bartenders had set a friendly and inviting environment - i can't wait to go back and make more friends :)
google avatar

Aaron W.

Yelp
Another great spot. Drinks well made had an old fashion and vodka soda (hard to mess up the second one) but the best part is the back space with a couple pool tables and extra room for hanging out. Great dive bar feel with great people. If in the area this is a wonderful spot to enjoy a drink a conversation and maybe a game of pool with friends
google avatar

Molly B.

Yelp
We love taking our friends here for their first time - the atmosphere is fun and different from a lot of nearby places.
google avatar

Jacob T.

Yelp
First time coming and checking this spot out. I think it's fun they have 3 different rooms to go in and out of. The second bar was closed while we were there so it took a little longer to get drinks. But would still go back and have a couple!
google avatar

Janelle N.

Yelp
First time at The Little Woody and I'll definitely go again. You wouldn't know from the outside but it's fun, kitsch and the right mix of eclectic. Nice happy hour selection and tasty menu items. I was there for Halloween and it didn't disappoint. Good place to hang for a while with friends taking in all the ambiance. The second time I went was for a Woodenville Whisky Tasting which I really enjoyed. The group size was just right and really allowed for a nice talk and answer session. I will definitely be back!
google avatar

Lorena O.

Yelp
Frequented this bar many times and it was one of my favorites went as far as putting my friends in to this place never had an issue. Tonight the asshole bouncer accused me of my id being fake despite me being here so many times and obviously my id being very real. He didn't let me in and left me embarrassed needless to say I will never come back here train your bouncers better. He really thought he did something spotting a "fake" id.
google avatar

Richard Z.

Yelp
Kevin made me the best old fashions I've ever had! Speakeasy style bar, with country music, friendly and fast bartenders... this place is fantastic!
google avatar

Jess X.

Yelp
Moscow Mule like a mofo! Shockingly surprised that the bartenders made me the BEST Moscow Mule I've ever had. They are true mixologists there. My friends and I stumbled upon this perfect gem - great people watching, the bar tenders are on point, the food is great! I wasn't expecting such high caliber food from a bar! The place is bigger than it looks, they have 2 side rooms- one is pool tables and the other is skeeball , darts, and shuffleboard. There's a bar in there as well for easy ethanol access. Age range seems to be 24-45, and there's a nice "chilled" vibe. Entrance is in the back it's not marked, but it's the only door on the backside of the building. Great place to lily pad to Scottsdale. Will be back, one of my favorite bars. PS check out all of the cute Owls on the walls everywhere.
google avatar

Clinton F.

Yelp
When my friends suggested this place I admit I had the address but probably drove by 3 times as there is no sign I finally put two and two together by seeing half an owl on the building! You enter through the back where you park and man is it DARK!!!!! I LOVE IT (I could see how it could be not for everyone) as I had a hard time even reading the menu or see behind the bar, red neon accent lights throughout, perfect timing there was only one other table in there, the bartender was fantastic and told us "you'll get used to the light, your eyes will adjust" and once they did what a cute place, if I wasn't already married I would certainly go on first dates here as the lights help mask the age hahahaha! There are all kind of games in the neighboring rooms like pool, darts and skee ball machines as well as others. Ordered a Manhattan and it was like being in a grown up Chuck E Cheese (minus the crappy prizes) when we were done being 35 year old kids we got a table and ordered the deviled eggs which were smaller but the perfect size, truffle mushroom flatbread was just okay needed more/bigger pieces of mushrooms. Spinach and artichoke dip was also okay my partner really liked it. FANTASTIC place don't bother spending a lot of time on your hair and makeup (it's too dark to tell)
google avatar

Stuart P.

Yelp
One of my neighborhood favorites for years. Even had our company Holiday party here in 2019. Great staff, cocktails, and some of the best bar nosh around. Get yourself a Beeting (cocktail)! Trust me. The place is divided into 3 areas, 4 if you count the back for smoking outside. The main bar is in the middle, pool tables in another area (where you can hold private events) and in the 3rd area you'll find foosball, darts, skeeball and shuffle puck.
google avatar

Lance B.

Yelp
Cool dive bar. Spacious and comfy at the same time. Good spot to pre game or mid week drink
google avatar

Samantha M.

Yelp
The service is good! I love the music at this bar and love that they make specialty cocktails! They have a side for dancing and a side that has games like pool, ski ball, darts, etc.
google avatar

Est A.

Yelp
This my spot...we clean house at them pool tables as well, quick service & always friendly
google avatar

Ryan B.

Yelp
Couldn't find it. Made all the more confusing due to the address on the website differing from the website on Yelp/Google. I think the website is wrong, but who knows...
google avatar

Estrella D.

Yelp
Great bar and great ambiance! Drinks were tasty and the spinach dip was delicious. I'd definitely come back
google avatar

Taylor K.

Yelp
Fast service, chill vibe, loved that it has two sides! Louder bar, younger crowd once it's late but would definitely come there during the day as well.
google avatar

Hannah R.

Yelp
Lots of older white people, I love the open concept and the inside of the bar it's different but just gets a little packed and hard to get serviced at the bar.
google avatar

Crystal M.

Yelp
This is such a gem. Bartenders are great and know what they're doing when it comes to craft cocktails. How can you not love a place that has ski-ball and shuffle-board?!? I want to try the meatballs but we just did corn-nuts, olives, and chips... all a nice salty snack to have with drinks (huge portions). We'll be back!
