Update to reviews** No Hookah** I can not rate food or service since I did not have either. I went for hookah but contrary to reviews they no longer have this service. Beautiful lobby.

I wanted to give a special shout-out to the security guard, Taree Perry, for handling an altercation between patrons at the Living Room Bar on Saturday, March 8th. Taree handled the altercation very professionally and with so much consideration for the other people who had seen the altercation happen.

Amazing ambience that's an absolute breath of fresh air, great customer service and terrific location! The DJ keeps good music rolling in back to back. Highly recommend.

Google
We went to this place tonight for a friends birthday. After being told there was no fruit we were told we would be comped $5 for 1 hookah. Hookahs are $20 x3 for 6 of us! That’s 60-5 for the discount. My husband and I ordered a water and paid our bill which came out to 36 as we covered one of the hookahs. The others left later and were then charged 70+ for two hookahs and 3 sprites! 2 hookahs were left @ 20$ so $40 and then 30 for 3 sprites???? After realizing ours was 36 for 1 hookah at 20 plus a water that was 15??? When this was brought to the manager attention and he did nothing but try to justify all these additional charges! this unprofessional and ignorant! Never go to this place! They don’t deserve the decency of serving respectable customers.

Went to the lobby bar after a terrible experience in the restaurant "Villa Azur". Learned the restaurant is actually owned and operated by a 3rd party, not the W. Nia was the fabulous bartender who took the bad taste out of our mouths after a disastrous dinner. The bar manager, Mike, even came by to make sure we had everything we needed and apologize for our bad experience. Overall, Nia and Mike saved the night!

The drinks were decent, but i have had a nightmare with the billing. I came down from a holiday party at the W with my husband and a coworker while we waited for my coworkers kids to come from the Mavs game. We paid $25 total for our drinks, not too bad for drinks for 3 people--I have paid more. But, when I go to look on my account, I show a charge for $42.25 (before tip). Our receipt only said $25.00 (before tip). When we finally get in touch with the accounting department, they read off what is on our tab. It included our 3 drinks, another drink, a shot, and cigarettes. So after we closed out our tab and SIGNED OUR CREDIT CARD RECEIPT, they reopened our ticket and charged more things to it. Now we are going back and forth with the accounting person to get it fixed. And on top of that, I looked again today and there is ANOTHER CHARGE for over $90.00 to my account. Long story short, if you go there, pay cash! Don't bring your card. For being such an upscale hotel, and lounge, you would think they could get their stuff straight. Edit: The accounting department was VERY helpful. They worked out the issue with the overcharge. However, it concerns me that the bartender did this. It looks like he reopened our tab, added more things, and added a $50 tip. But it wasn't signed. And we had signed our ticket already. Be aware of the bartenders. But the accounting guy was great getting it fixed so quickly! His name was Matt. Nice guy you can tell actually cares.

Vacationing from Florida. Found this bar from google maps and we walked to this place but it’s no where to be found? We were so confused. There’s nothing around but a giant hotel. Is the bar in the hotel? Is it on the corner? Where is this place? We couldn’t find it. We went inside the hotel but there was not one person in signt.

Great for afternoon happy hour if you want a quiet-ish cocktail right at 5pm. Also good meeting spot immediately before Mavs games and AAC events.

Yelp
What an ELEGANT and FUN Place this little Hidden Gem is!!!!!!!! Went here for a couple drinks and to hang with friend. I was happily surprised with the coziness of their interior, wish MY Living Room looked like this! RICHY SMART was DJing and he was FREAKIN' AWESOME! His transitions were on point and his MUSIC selection was SO good... a bit of old school tweaked with new music vibes! Got his website info, so we could see him again, where ever he goes to DJ. Drinks were great and service was excellent!

Yelp
Out with friends and wanted to stop by a place with seating and music for a drink and ended up at the Living Room. It's the W hotel bar, so very central and conveniently located. Best thing about this bar was the DJ! She had the place rocking with classic hits that actually had folks dancing (from The Bee Gees to Brownstone, very eclectic) Not the stuffy bar experience I anticipated. Drinks were okay but pricey--I was the DD and was surprised at $4.50 for a small bottle of ginger ale. (Luckily the next 2 were free from a different bar tender). And while they have a pretty full bar no frozen drinks (one of my companions initially asked for a frozen daiquiri). Another positive, we bought cookies across the street and were able to bring them into the bar, since they don't sell food. Overall, cool hotel bar experience.

Yelp
There is no upkeep at this establishment. Drinks are left from previous tables longer than needed with napkins, silverware and pillows left on the floor. Friday nights should have attentive staff serving at tables. Waiting at the bar for one bartender is not ideal for a Friday night. Same goes for the restaurant down the hall, Cook Hall. Two people attending the entire restaurant! Drinks took 30+min, food about an hour. For a W hotel, you'd expect more staff to facilitate every aspects of the bar/restaurant.

Yelp
This is a great little hotel bar. I love the W and when I decided to try out the W Dallas for my most recent business trip I was not disappointed . I was in town two nights and both nights Andrea ( ahn-dray-ah) was a terrific. She was attentive, polite, friendly and mixes a perfect cocktail. The chicken paillard was a lovely light dish that paired well with my margarita. The atmosphere is modern and inviting, the menu is simple and easily navigated and the spirits are varied and high end. This place is great. Andrea is a super star and she really makes the experience pleasant and enjoyable. Tip your bartenders, these folks deal with a lot and deserve to be taken care of

Yelp
Nice chill spot to go for a drink, or to watch a game. The atmosphere is really nice, they have huge long chandeliers in the living room area with plush seating, and they also have the bar area. So there's plenty of places to sit. It's a good place if you're going alone or with family/friends. The food is also good. It's nothing special but it's not your average bar food. (I hate bar food) I ordered a salad (which I don't think you can ever really go wrong with) and It was pretty good, they also have hummus which is delicious and my drinks were also amazing (cosmo). My bartenders name was Alex and he had great customer service and was very attentive, and welcoming. I sat at the bar area so I talked to him quit a bit. Overall pretty good experience I'm sure I'll be back to enjoy another cosmo (those are my favorite).

Yelp
Either bring a high limit credit card and throw caution to the wind, or get yourself a Sugar Daddy to pick up the bill, because the Living Room at the W is expeeeeeensive! I do like the vibe though. It's chill, not too many pretentious folks, and you can order from a pretty great bar menu. Expect to pay $10-14 for a glass of wine, and $5-8 for beer. My girl friend and I shared an order of calamari, which wasn't greasy, the batter was light and it came with a spicy remoulade sauce to dip them in. Total for four glasses of wine and an order of calamari? Seventy buckaroos, including tip. See - I told you that you'll need a Sugar Daddy.

Yelp
This is not my kind of place to hang out...it's too uptight and not my kind of music to bump to. I came here with a guy friend after a mavs game! I didn't want to come here because non of my friends was there. He wanted to go in so he forced me to go in, too because he was my ride home. lol I didn't drink anything because I didn't want to. Anyway, they were playing country and mexican music...not that anything wrong with them but when I would like to dance when I go out. Play something I can dance to mr. dj!!!!

Yelp
Always love this place, great service, excellent drink menu, good appetizers as well. On quiet nights it's very chill and relaxing. On game/concert nights it can get very very very crowded and fun. The outside patio area excellent as well. I highly recommend The Living Room Bar.
google avatar

Dan D.

Yelp
I recently visited before dinner to have a drink and light bites. I like the setting with mood lighting, oversized furniture, chandeliers, and the movement of the passing traffic outside. The chill music was just right as we had great drinks and a meat and cheese board. As it got busier, seating filled up and the wait will be long.

Yelp
My favorite hotel bar in Dallas! I always end up here after an event at the AAC. I love the sparkling lights that remind me of the Cosmopolitan in Vegas. The bar staff are always great and I always meet great people when here. That's what bars are about! My visits here never disappoint me.

Yelp
Who's Living Room is this? I've never had a bad experience here. I agree with the stout pours. I agree with the stout prices. I agree with the adage "You get what you pay for" . . . so what's the problem? For me, there is none! Comfortable seating (as it well should be, considering we're calling it The Living Room and not The Balcony or The Patio or The Apartment Above The Garage...) but speaking of patio areas, this one is large, expansive, and overlooks American Airlines Center. The crowd is often eclectic, in terms of geography, not in terms of Mr. Emo, meet Ms. Highland Park. More so Mr. Business Traveler, meet Miss. Highland Park. Depending on events at the AAC, locals may outnumber the non-locals at certain points in the evening, but for the most part, it IS a hotel bar. I like The Living Room for what it promises - comfortable seating, a relaxed environment, and a chill place to gather. Anything more or anything less is what you make of it.
google avatar

Kia M.

Yelp
The living room is definitely the spot for a good time! If you arrive by 7:30 you'll find great seating before the crowd picks up. Not too big of a crowd but definitely a nice party atmosphere.

Yelp
Lame. That pretty much describes The Living Room at the W Hotel. Seriously, the only redeemable aspect of this lounge is the friendly bouncer when you walk in. He is a cool, ginormous teddy bear type that couldn't believe I could be as old as I am...which I know I will appreciate one day. Anyway, we came here after a Rangers game so needless to say we were the least dressed up folks in the bar. Most of the girls looked like they were borderline prostitutes or just really desparate. And, most of the guys were looking to get one of those girls in bed for the evening. I was knocked around by a popped collared idiot trying to get to the bar...no "excuse me." Then, I slipped and almost fell on someone's spilled drink. Being a prudent person, I notify the bartender that they may want to wipe it up. They did immediately, but no thanks was issued by the manager standing right there. Anyway, I have heard it is a much better spot for happy hour or pre-dinner cocktails than it is for the late night scene. I hope that is true but I can affirmatively say that I will probably never find out. One bad experience with overpriced beers was enough for me. Repeat after me...this is not New York City, it is Dallas.
google avatar

Claire E.

Yelp
I really enjoy the atmosphere here. It's decorated beautifully and lots of open seating and lounge areas. Their drinks and appetizers are so good. They usually have live bands on the weekends and or DJ's.
google avatar

Jennie J.

Yelp
The Living Room is attached to the W Hotel in downtown Dallas. It is a very hip spot to hang out with a group of friends, or by yourself, on a Friday or Saturday night. The DJ plays contemporary music that is good for dancing and grooving. The ambiance is awesome here. Very classy and clean. The staff is friendly and efficient, which is just what people want when they want a drink! Definitely a place to try hanging out once or twice.
google avatar

Clay F.

Yelp
Good call Meredith! I feel about the same way. It's funny that this place is really even considered a bar, in my opinion. To me it seemed more like a satellite bar at the W hotel. I've only been there twice, neither time memorable enough to write anything about. Once was post Ghostbar after I'd become fed up with that nauseating airport terminal, and the second was when the ex gf and I were a little early for our reservation at Craft. It's a good place to kill a little time and have one drink, perhaps, but anything more would seem to be a waste of time that could be spent in a far more interesting location.

Yelp
When I was living at home, the Living Room was my spot to unwind when I felt like indulging. I first started visiting mainly on weekends ('08) when friends would be there, but I LOVE this place during the week. After work and class I'd slide in for one of their signature cocktails. For a hotel bar $12.00 isn't bad for a cocktail, but that's just my opinion. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The decor is mysterious and cosmic! The lounge furniture is comfortable, but could use a bit of TLC. I expect a lot from the W, ehhh, baby am I doing too much? Oh well, for an establishment that prides itself on luxury, everything should be in tip top shape! On weekends they usually have a DJ mashing up Top 40's and House music, my fave!! Nice pre-game spot if you're down to splurge. There are all kinds of people who frequent the Living Room, I can appreciate the diverse array of attractive folk! Classy, trendy, chic! P.S.- The W/ Living Room is harder to get into if there's a celeb event or Mavs win (Ex. play offs 2011). Security will be super tight if you choose to go on one of these nights.
google avatar

Chris M.

Yelp
Great place to unwind and have some drinks. Really like the outdoor seating and the view of the city. Service is friendly and fast. Music is interesting not really my type but I can deal with it.
google avatar

Joco F.

Yelp
The bartender was super friendly and gave me a deal on a bottle of wine when I asked for one glass. He was trying to clear inventory so I was willing to help. The wine wasn't amazing but it was certainly a savings. I watched him make several cocktails and the folks who ordered them seemed to be very impressed. I had a little food and let me say the cheese charcuterie plate at the bar is pathetic. Not worth the 16 bucks they charge at all. I seriously got one slice of meat. Three types. Equally small portions of cheese. They do go heavy on the fruit though. Basically just keep away from it. A pretty standard get what you expect experience for me.

Yelp
Much nicer than it's counterpart, The Ghostbar, this place never let's me down when I'm looking for a chill night out. Great ambience, over-sized stuffed chairs and square tables give you the feel of, precisely, a lofty living room. Pricey drinks but where else can you order AMAZING fresh calamari and home made chocolate chip cookies? The cookies aren't on the menu but just ask for them! Dj always playing good house mixed in with some stuff everyone can move their hips to. Outdoor patio area is cozy with a view of the failed "Dallas Times Square" aka American Airlines Center. Love the giant chandeliers and how their dangling crystals and bubbles resemble a giant jellyfish tentacles. Great people watching goes on here for certain. Whenever I'm in the area, this is where I go when I just want to chill with a few friends without all the typical distractions. No long lines, no preferential treatment, no smoking. Good lighting here too btw, everyone who walks in makes quite an entrance. My one word description: CHILL

Nickie G.

Yelp
If you read my reviews you know I am not a fan of douchey bars and such. Went to the Living room because I was in the area. Granted it was a Tuesday night. Not packed but not empty either. House music playing lightly in the background. The patio is where we parked with our $12 martinis and for the chit chatty mood we were in it was perfect. I have been here on a weekend when it is overrun with douchebags looking to score, but tonight it was a quite comfortable lounge atmosphere with really expensive drinks. Luckily the drinks were strong and I was already tipsy or I might complain a little more. Overall not a place I would set out to go to on any given night, but if in the neighborhood I might be convinced to have a drink here...although the same can be said for any bar from here to NYC to LA. I love strong drinks, what can I say?
google avatar

Claire S.

Yelp
Great bar to hang out with close friends. Comfy seating and music with not so disruptive volume makes it perfect for great conversations with friends. One can chill on comfy seats and talk or dance a little if one wants to. This makes The Living Room a pretty good bar for a diverse group. Unlike others who reviewed this place, I did not find a lot of douche-bags, but found many people looking to be hooked up. Whenever I go here, drinks are decently stiff, and the service is pretty fast. This is the bar I go to if I want to wear something sassy and just chill with my friends.

Lindsay J.

Yelp
Good lighting - the Nectar on Ice (champagne and lime juice) is the best, most refreshing drink ever! Good chill, loungy music. Not too crowded on Thursday's or Friday's, couches to sit on...has a patio, too Perfect place to have a drink before you begin your night! Or after event at AAC
google avatar

Zachary K.

Yelp
Beautiful Atmosphere great place to have a drink with a few close friends.....dress code but it's the W so what do you expect. Great patio I like it....and my friend Bree works the door and she is really cute go see her lol.
google avatar

Alan H.

Yelp
Didn't get to see the price, but service was quick. Bartender tried to serve a beer that wasn't completely chilled, but was willing to swap it out for a cold one.
google avatar

Steven F.

Yelp
This place has really gone down, they are usually understaffed and the service is way under par for a W hotel. Try the Ritz if you are staying at he W!
google avatar

Nicole J.

Yelp
We went there for a friend's birthday. The music sucked!!! I felt like I was at an 8th grade dance. We asked the DJ to play top 40 and he said his manager forbade him to play any hip hop because the night before it got "too hood." We will not be coming back to pay for over priced drinks and crappy music.
google avatar

Roni B.

Yelp
came here for a friend's birthday party!! the dj was playing a variety of music..which was all jamming....drinks were on point...straight to the point lol i'll come back....nice little vibe here!
google avatar

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Nice place to hang out and enjoy a cocktail before dinner at Cook Hall. They had the A/C turned down so low that it was freezing! The service was just ok...they overcharged us for drinks and had to get a credit. Guess their computer and menu didn't match...who knew! On the positive side, the peach martini was well mixed and very good!

Yelp
The Living Room at the W is a pretty nice upscale type of bar. My wife and I went, I had a beer and she had a raspberry lemonade (berry infused vodka drink). Was it expensive, yes, but the atmosphere was very nice. Is this a place that I am going to be frequenting? No, it's not really my style it is uptight and caters to a 'wanna be' and pretentious crowd. Just not my type of place.

Yelp
So I decided to "treat" my daughter and niece to a late lunch here today. A non-busy Sunday afternoon. We live locally and had dinner here before a concert at AAC over a year ago. My daughter (12) wanted to have lunch someplace special in Dallas and begged to go to The Living Room because she has obsessed over what she ate before that concert: the lemony kale Caesar salad topped with a deep-fried soft-boiled egg that oozes over the salad when you cut into it. Well, that SHOULD anyway. So I and my two 12 year olds who are SO EXCITED to have lunch in such a fancy, upscale establishment walk in. There are like 2 tables each with 2 people and a guy at the bar. We stood at the front and I was like "do we seat ourselves" and they were like, Oh no we'll get someone. So she ushers us in. We sit. Then she comes over and is like "are you ready to order?" and my daughter goes "well, can we get some drinks first?" and she goes "oh yeah what do your want to drink." So we order/get them/order three of the salads which I had earlier explained we have arrived especially to order. So salads come out without the egg. I'm glad we knew the egg is the entire point to the salad, b/c without it we are spending 20 bucks on literally kale + salad dressing. The bright spot of our lunch was the bartender (?) notices and tells food runner guy to go get three eggs pronto. He brings them and we plop them onto our kale. Thing is, upon cutting into them they don't ooze they are hard-boiled. My daughter was like, "mom it's fine." So we eat. I finished my mimosa and wanted another one before we headed across the street to buy ice cream so we could get our parking validated b/c the W only validates valet parking. WTH? If you valet, you do not need your parking validated. Rolls eyes. Dumb. So I'm wanting another drink but the 2 waitstaff attending to three tables (2 tables of 2 and my table of 3) were all gaga over this one guy whose life story I could tell you, because they were practically sitting in his lap stroking his ego encouraging him to blah, blah, blah instead of doing their jobs. So instead of bringing my kids refills or checking on our table, they're bringing that guy fistfuls of free condiments he can use when he orders Favor McDonalds McNuggets for his kid. (Note: don't be *that guy.*) So check please. We got plenty of attention when it was time to pay. The grand total for three kale salads, two sprites, one mimosa, and zero attention from the wait staff: $86 (eighty six dollars). Guarantee our tab was more than the tab of the guy they were hitting on. Lol and we're Starwood Preferred Guests. Ridiculous.

Yelp
i have no problem with this place except the over priced ass drinks...10 bucks a pop for a mixed drink...anyways that hasnt stopped me i still go back every now and then...the only good thing is the bartender has a heavy handed pour which i appreciate
