I visited the lounge for high tea last Monday afternoon and was treated to exactly what one hopes for when reserving a table for high tea: an exquisitely beautiful experience.
Everything, from the china, to the tea selection, to the view - is the height of luxury.
We were presented with something like 12 blends of tea in a box, prepared to be chosen by scent. I chose a delicate Darjeeling, my favorite.
At a 3:30 tea time in winter, we were able to watch the sun go down over the beautiful city view, to the sounds of a very talented classical pianist. I won't forget it soon.
Some minor lapses in service - the staff did not understand my spouse's shellfish allergy and served it on the same plate as other foods, and they initially charged me for caviar but never served it. I later realized this, and they dug out our receipt and rectified the issue on the spot. No questions asked.
We enjoyed the experience so much, overall, that we're already daydreaming about which Ritz to visit next.
