It is so damn good. The best lobster roll I've ever tried in my life. I thought it'll be another tourist trap but apparently it was good. There's a seafood store next door! saw a guy with lots of fresh oysters

Google
Lobster roll for breakfast... You bet! Came across The Lobster Man by accident while heading for me whale watching tour. Asked the young lady serving what was good and she suggested the lobster roll. As first customer of the day it would take 10 minutes... Well with the wait. A warmed brioche bun, layered with crisp iceberg lettuce and a generous topping of lobster mix. Enough dressing to keep it moist but not over wet and a smattering of vegetables in the mix. Fresh, slightly fishy taste to the lobster with creaminess from the sauce. Make sure you bring a bib or pick up lots of napkins. I suggest grabbing a fork too. Strongly recommend you try The Lobster Man

We had 2 amazing lunches at here during our trip to Vancouver. First time we were seeking for fresh seafood and was surprised next door they have alive crabs, lobsters, shrimps, oysters and clams. We bought lobster and crab and guys cooked it for us right away. It cost us $140 (both lobster and crab were really big). Afterwards we came back for famous rolls. And again took one crab and one lobster. If you like it warm go for the “hot butter” not the signature one. However everything was delicious! Service was great at the desk. And we enjoyed authentic but simple set up they have.

Google
The Granville Market, you have to stop by the "The Lobster Man" it's the only place to get a Lobster Roll at the Granville Market area. The Lobster roll comes an a soft and juicy Brioche roll. Yum yum !! 😋 My daughter ordered it and said, it was excellent, 5 stars...

Google
We had signiture lobster roll and crab roll, they both were really tasty. Also the 6$ prawn cocktail was very fresh. Good service.

Google
Got the lobster roll with mayo - was ok but expected more for 25.99. Actual lobster tasted decent but the bread wasn’t warm or soft, flavours were lacking abit. Nice crisps tho

Amie L

Google
Juicy, tender pieces of lobster wrapped in buttery toast. Try it with the lemon. Got the clam chowder expecting the New England style, keep in mind that it's tomato-based Manhattan style. Food items could be more flavorful. Passion fruit tea is really refreshing and delicious!

Yelp
Started having a craving for lobster yesterday. I grew up eating lobster in my family, boiled lobster. I ordered (via Uber Eats) the 1.5 lbs Atlantic lobster. I ate the claws first and was happy the meat was succulent and didn't stick to the shell. I was so happy they left the caparace intact so the tomalley was still inside. I've been disappointed ordering lobster at restaurants when they removed either the tomalley (from the male) or the roe (from the female). They were always a delicacy in my family. My lobster was cooked perfectly because I was able to pull tail from the shell (after some wiggling first to loosen it) intact. If it was overcooked, the meat would have stuck to the shell and I would have had to use scissors to cut the shell open. I've ordered lobster rolls from this place in the past and have been happy. This was no exception. Next time I have another lobster craving I will be ordering from this place again!

Yelp
Living in Houston, it's not often we get to try some fresh and locally sourced lobster rolls so this was a must-visit for us on our very first trip to Vancouver! Granville Island was already a peach of an experience but Lobster Man put a bow on our experience. The Connecticut roll was warm and buttery while the signature roll was creamy and filled with chunks of lobster. The only downside was that we didn't get to try the bisque (I believe it was out of season) and even the clam chowder wasn't ready when we ordered (it was like 2PM..?) and we were hoping that would complete our meal. All in all, we came and got what we wanted most and it definitely delivered. The prices were a bit higher than expected but I'm not going to complain too much about price after eating 2 delicious lobster rolls that were probably caught hours before. This is a must try if visiting Vancouver!

Yelp
This place only has outdoor seating and it's a casual picnic table kind of situation! The order counter is right next to their fish market so it feels very much like a takeout spot. I ended up taking my food to eat inside of Granville market. The Connecticut roll was good-- I kind of wish they used a different type of bread as the roll was soft (kind of like hot dog bread), but the lobster was a decent amount and tasted fresh and lightly seasoned.

Yelp
I was looking forward to eating a lobster roll from this location, because of all the wonderful reviews but my experience felt short. The service right off the bat wasn't good. The girl taking our order seemed like she just wanted to quickly order and get out of there. Then once our food was ready we couldn't find a place to sit which was ok because we eventually found a table we could sit it in close to the marina. I was so excited to eat my lobster but when I opened the box to grab it I was so disappointed in the size. I had never seen such a small lobster roll before. I thought that maybe the flavors would make up for the size, but sadly it didn't. The lobster tasted chewy and the flavors were just not there. Sadly I wouldn't recommend this location.

Yelp
FOOD - Dungeness Crab Roll: Dungeness crab, mayo and celery in a Brioche bun. Decent amount of crab. Could have used a little bit more flavor. The homemade chips were good. 3.5/5 SERVICE: Fast and friendly. 4/5 FINAL THOUGHTS: For the price and flavor, I probably won't come back. It wasn't bad but there's so many places to try in Granville.

Yelp
I've never found a more affordable Lobster Roll! Me and my friends all got the Connecticut Lobster Roll as we all preferred the warm buttered lobster over the cold version. The bun was nicely buttered and toasted and they were very generous with the amount of lobster in each bite! I do wish it came with french fries instead of potato chips but that was just extra anyways. I'm not sure if you can tell from photos but I had gotten the very bottom portion of the bag of chips so I had a bunch of tiny crumbs that were hard to eat so I didn't end up finishing my chips which were just the basic salted plain potato chips. My friends didn't care for the piece of lettuce it came with since we were used to lobster rolls without it but I personally always appreciate some veggies in a meal. Service was super quick! We ordered and paid and it got assembled immediately. The spot was very close to the public market so we grabbed our Rolls and walked over to eat them by the water for a nice view.

Yelp
I love buying oysters here and serving them at home! I don't live close but I only come here when I want to buy oysters. Love the choices available!

Yelp
Why 3 stars? Because it was nice to have this option at Granville Island Market. --- --- --- Knowing that we were going to end up at Granville Island Market on our bike tour, I did some research ahead of time to see what might be the best place to grab lunch. Nothing really jumped out as an absolute *must*, but I am always down for a lobster roll, so The Lobster Man was my destination of choice. Was it the best lobster roll I've had? No, and it wasn't even close, to be honest. But at a market that seems to be more about quantity than quality, I was happy to find a lobster roll. It certainly wasn't bad, but probably more like 3.5 stars. We also ordered clam chowder, which was tomato based, and we didn't love.

Yelp
Enjoyed lunch here after wandering through the Granville Island Market during our first full day in Vancouver. We were greeted right away and our food prepared quickly. I got the signature lobster roll--cold with mayo and celery--and my honey got the Connecticut--warm with butter and lemon. Both are served on a lightly buttered and toasted brioche bun and with a side of chips. Both sandwiches were delicious. They also offer a crab roll and shrimp roll, as well as soup. Plus a couple seasonal specials. So a small yet mighty menu. There are a few tables out front under a pop-up and so we sat, relaxed, and enjoyed our sandwiches, which was a nice mid-day break before continuing our Vancouver adventure.

Yelp
Easy to order online to select and pick up fresh oysters at a great price! We bought 3 types of different oysters to Shuck ourselves and eat raw and to charcoal grill with a butter and cheese sauce - heaven! Pick up was easy and they also provided extra bags of ice for our cooler. Nice service!
google avatar

Jon O.

Yelp
We really enjoyed the Signature Lobster Roll at Lobster Man. Huge portions of lobster meat complimented with a sweet brioche roll. I read some reviews that their sandwiches lacked seasoning, but we liked that the lobster flavor came through accompanied by the light mayo and celery. There is limited outdoor seating so prepare to walk elsewhere if you want to sit (avoid the dock area, the seagulls are super aggressive).

Yelp
Omg we loveeeee The Lobster Man every time we come to the Granville Island! They have the best and reasonably priced lobster rolls here. Our favs are their #1 Signature Lobster Roll ($24.99 CAD) and the #2 Connecticut Lobster Roll ($25.99 CAD). We would ask them to cut the lobster roll in halves for us so we can each try both lobster rolls that way. Each lobster roll also comes with some chips and a piece of lemon. I always get their red Manhattan Clam Chowder ($7.99 CAD) as a side too because it has a lot of clams in the chowder. They also have a live shellfish section next door where you can purchase lobsters, clams and oysters at a very reasonable price. We bought some oysters (on sale) to shuck ourselves since they will not shuck oysters on site for you, but they will lend you a shucker tool if you ask them nicely. These oysters are so fresh and delicious! We ended up going back 3X just to buy more oysters to shuck.

Yelp
While walking around Granville Island Market we stumbled upon this little gem. We were greeted by the staff and told to come in and order some food. We ended up ordering a lobster roll and a crab rolls.. We sat outside in the front. The quality of the lobster and crab was very good. Nice flavor

Joel Y.

Yelp
Don't really understand this place. Connecticut Lobster roll $25.99. In the picture at the front of the store it is shown with large chunks of lobster. My roll came out with shredded almost looking like canned shredded lobster meat. Taste is not bad but not great or memorable either, for the price was expecting at least chunk lobster meat. Would not recommend nor return. (See pics!)
google avatar

Bilal I.

Yelp
Super flavorful lobster roll and the chips were a perfect compliment! Relatively well-priced for a lobster roll. Service was friendly and the food was ready quickly. We ate outside in the covered seating area which was really nice. Great spot for a meal or a snack on Granville Island!

Yelp
We wanted to try lobster roll and knew it was famous on granville island so we decided to stop by this place. We got here around 5:30 on saturday and luckily, it was last call for lobster rolls (even though the place closes at 6). We chose the signature lobster roll and it definitely did not disappoint. Although it looked small at first, we shared it as a snack and there were a lot of filings of lobster. I also really liked the sauce - it was creamy and flavorful. I'm not sure if I will return to get the roll again since it was $24.99 but I think it was worth a try.
google avatar

Kiki T.

Yelp
Not that good. Not enough lobster. Too pricey for this quality and amount of food. Probably won't come back again
google avatar

Genna G.

Yelp
Good choice when you want to visit Granville Island. This place is very bare bones and felt like a whole seller allowed us in order a lobster. Not fast for the lobster but they cook to order. Husband thought lobster good- pricy for what you get but good. Liked my lobster and shrimp salad but again, it was a very small portion at a big price tag. Go once. No indoor seating - sit outside at the communal tables.
google avatar

Giancarlos B.

Yelp
It was alright, but definitely not worth the money and the hassle. I got a Connecticut roll and it tasted good, but not as good as I expected for lobster. They only had 3 small tables, so we had to find some other place to sit. The cashier was not very friendly, so overall it was just an alright experience.
google avatar

Lindsey D.

Yelp
This summer was allot of seafood cooking, Lobster Man was my go to for fresh oysters and clams. No issues so far.
google avatar

Amanda H.

Yelp
Fresh creamy lobster on soft crispy bread with a side of crispy chips. Enjoyed eating the signature lobster roll at their outdoor tent seating.
google avatar

Darya S.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch on our day in Granville Island. At first I wasn't going to eat because I wasn't particularly hungry, but when my husband got the signature lobster roll, I couldn't resist! I ordered the Connecticut lobster roll and we shared the clam chowder. The menu is simple and delicious. We agreed that the CT roll was actually better and we just loved how the chowder was so filled with meat. Also, just know there is only outdoor seating, so be friends with the crows (but don't feed them)! Overall, a worthwhile stop for a filling and tasty lunch.
google avatar

Idy C.

Yelp
Lobster rolls is portion is decent, however like other reviewer mentioned, lack of seasoning. The chips come from a bag of store bought chips and the clam chowder is definitely not usually white clam chowder. its more like tomato soup. I would say not a good combination. Sorry will not recommended.
google avatar

Molli S.

Yelp
Very much enjoyed the fresh lobster roll at this Granville island gem! It's a bit of a "hole in the wall" in that seating is limited, and the focus is the delicious, but casual, food, as opposed to the "ambiance" - but that's exactly what I'm looking for when going to Granville, right? I hear there is a line sometimes, but we had quick and easy service. Everything was fresh and we enjoyed our lobster outside on the patio.
google avatar

Amy B.

Yelp
Came here since we were in the area visiting the island. Really craving a lobster roll, so I decided to grab one here. Ended up getting the signature lobster roll. For the price, I would've expected more lobster in the roll. I wanted to give it a full 5 stars but I couldn't because of that. I ended up with half of the bread left and no lobster meat in it. The value wasn't really there for me. They also included a few chips in there, in which I could've counted with all my fingers how many were there
google avatar

Steven L.

Yelp
Great variety of east and west coast oysters. Very fresh. Well priced. Not packaged the greatest when I received it though.
google avatar

Hameeda H.

Yelp
Coming with family to check if it's still the same goodness I've had it once before and returning to enjoy it ya ya
google avatar

Tawny V.

Yelp
I do have a shellfish allergy so I bet you are wondering why am I even reviewing this place? Well, if you walk past the sit-down restaurant, you come across fresh seafood; oysters, crabs, lobsters and mussels. Heck they'll even cook the lobster and crab for you! As you know, I love oysters and they are reasonably priced almost, a hidden gem. If you live in the area want, fresh seafood or hosting a party this is the spot for you!
google avatar

Laura G.

Yelp
We had the Signature Lobster Roll and what was suppose to be Manhattan clam chowder. This place came highly recommended. Lobster roll was good. Meat was tasty. Roll was perfect. We also saw soup of the day was Manhattan clam chowder and just had to try it. Never in my life have I had a chowder that was "tomato based". When I questioned the employee and they looked at me as if I was bothering them to even ask. It was minestrone with clams at best and not our jam. All that to say... get a roll of choice. We shared our meal as we were trying a lot of different places at the market.
google avatar

Vickie W.

Yelp
In Granville island and basically a humble take out food place with a covered eating area. The original lobster roll was good but overpriced. The Connecticut Buttery lobster roll was soggy with dry shredded lobster. Wont go back for sure.
google avatar

Luke P.

Yelp
Good service. Quick ordering. Food came quick. Very good traditional lobster roll! Bread was phenomenal and soft!
google avatar

Elsie H.

Yelp
I've tried many lobster roll restaurants in the states. I would say this is very average lobster roll but nice to see it's available in Vancouver.
google avatar

Liz M.

Yelp
A solid 4 in my book. When it comes to rolls the bread definitely elevates everything. The bread here wasn't as buttery and delicious as I though it was going to be. The chips seem more like an afterthought as well. I enjoyed the lobster roll more than the Dungeness crab. Seating is limited outside.
google avatar

Abby L.

Yelp
A really good lobster roll! We were hesitant about this place at first since it is rather pricey but it didn't disappoint! The lobster was fresh, the mayo was flavourful without being overpowering and the bun was so soft. The amount of lobster was pretty good too, it was like spilling out of the bun. The chips were crispy and there was quite a sizable amount. They didn't have any tables, but they had a pop up tent outside with a ledge where we ate. Alternatively you can also opt to eat in the market (we couldn't wait long enough to walk back though). Overall, I would recommend you save room for this on a Granville Island trip! Expensive but definitely worth!
google avatar

Sandee L.

Yelp
We got here right at opening, and the sign said they were sold out of crab rolls. Noooooo! I asked the cashier if they were really out, and she asked the guy in the back, who said they had "a little". Yes! It never hurts to ask! Both the lobster and crab were lightly dressed so you could taste the sweet meat of both. It's served on a traditional buttered roll, which was fresh and fluffy, but it could have used a little more time on the grill. I took full advantage of the juicy lemon wedge to brighten the roll. Overall, a solid lobster and crab roll, but not the best I've ever had. They do accept Apple Pay as well as credit cards.
google avatar

Mary N.

Yelp
Line move fast and food came out fast too. Ordered the Connecticut roll and it was creamy and huge pieces of lobster. It comes with chips and that was also good. Also has the regular roll and it was not bad. But if I had to choose it would be the Connecticut roll. Wish they had ice through with the soda we ordered but in all not bad. The hype was on point. 10/10
google avatar

Deborah P.

Yelp
The food was fire but the seating was really limited and a little understaffed so there wasn't any clean tables, it is a clean as you go, self-seat service which is why it was a 4 out of 5. We ordered a Signature Roll, a Connecticut Roll, a shrimp cocktail and a Manhattan Clam Chowder. Signature is a cold roll - recommend Connecticut is a warmer roll - recommend The shrimp cocktail was so fresh - recommend The Manhattan clam chowder is the red soup - a lot of clams but mixed reviews because we prefer Creamy New England
google avatar

Vincent P.

Yelp
We visited Granville Island as first time tourists and made our way here for lunch. I decided to opt to try here instead of the other booths in the public market since it would be my first lobster roll in a while. Unfortunately, it was a bit disappointing. My first bite into the lobster roll was quite lukewarm. The taste of the lobster roll was not as amazing as I remembered it to be. I got the Signature Lobster Roll and it looks really good once I got it. However, after taking a bite, the taste was a bit subpar, there was a hint of blandness in the lobster roll that didn't quite sit well with my taste buds.
google avatar

Heali T.

Yelp
Amazing quality lobster and the brioche buns are delicious. But all dishes had zero seasoning! The traditional lobster roll needs lemon, salt, pepper. All of the above and garlic are needed in the Connecticut roll. Hot sauce also recommended. The clam chowder was so fresh but also lacked any seasoning. I would go back and bring my own condiments.
google avatar

Dennis S.

Yelp
It's a hole in the wall that has a total of like 5 menu items I had the Connecticut roll with butter based not mayo and it was good. If you're in the area and craving a quick bite and lobster.. check this place out you might like it!!
google avatar

Benson W.

Yelp
Lobster for Canada Day. $19.99. DELICIOUS! Boiled. Soft. and Yummy! I highly recommend The Lobster Man. Great to hang out at Granville Island on Canada Day. It is busy, but not crazy busy like people are crowded like sardines. There were other deals, but available preorders, which had better value like a combo with the lobster/corn, I believe it would have been like $21.99. I saw 2 signs, one side showed a line up for Lobster Roll right, and Lobster left.
google avatar

Elaine L.

Yelp
Love the fresh seafood here!! They have affordable oysters (got dozen oysters for $13.95) and it's so fun shucking it at home! Highly reccomend!!
google avatar

John N.

Yelp
Very good food. Ordered the Connecticut style lobster roll and the dungeness crab roll. Both were very tasty although the crab was a bit dry and not dripping with butter like I expected. Make sure to smother it with the house lobster sauce.
google avatar

Ben C.

Yelp
I recently purchased Mediterranean Mussels grown locally on Vancouver Island from The Lobster Man. These mussels were significantly larger and more flavorful than the PEI mussels. Lobster Man is a fantastic place to get fresh seafood!
google avatar

Isabel C.

Yelp
Lobster Man is a little shop located on Granville Island that sells fresh seafood of all kinds and also ready to eat seafood staples. Their most famous being the lobster rolls of course. The last time I went was during Covid and boy, business has been booming since things started opening up. When I arrived, their outdoor seating area was full and quite a few people were either in line to order or waiting for their order. I was really only coming straight for the lobster rolls so I ordered two signature ones for bf and I ($23.99 ea). Their rolls are definitely not cheap. I never thought I would willingly spend $50 on a snack for 2 and it does hurt the wallet a little bit but the quality and quantity of the lobster makes it worth it for the most part. I like that I can actually see, taste, and enjoy the lobster on my roll. The bf also went next door to pick up some fresh Raspberry Point and Pink Moon oysters. He did become quite ambitious and tried to shuck and eat some on the spot. The staff were so kind to provide him all tools necessary for this feat. After a few, he somehow stabbed himself in the finger with the oyster shell and not the shucking tool so he gave up haha. This is a great alternative to dining in at the restaurant and saving quite a few bucks if you don't mind shucking your own oysters!
google avatar

Adrianna V.

Yelp
Oooouuufff definitely a must try plenty of places to ear but everything about the sandwich was delicious. You do have to pay for a bottle of hot sauce. There is limited seating. I was tempted to try the oysters next door part of lobster man. Looks like you have to buy your own shucker as well. Service was okay. It's more of a, can I take your order...grab a number type of place. It's not a restaurant, so you expect Service is not like a restaurant. Eating outside with a view is nice. I'm sure this is a type of place that can have a line wrapped around the building. We are here on a Monday and only a few people here.
google avatar

Yelp
Finally had some free time to visit Granville island. The lobster rolls were calling my name. Ordered the Signature & Connecticut lobster rolls. I've had many a lobster roll than I care to admit, some good and some horrendously bad, these were towards the positive end of the spectrum. Large chunks of lobster meat with a nice natural taste not covered by fillings and herbs. Brioche bun fresh and soft. As per the photos, very generous with the lobster, lucky me!! No indoor sitting, will need to eat in small outdoor seating area, be careful of the lurking seagulls, they will wait patiently for any leftovers if any, felt bad and threw them some of my chips which they gladly snatched out of the air. Minus 1 star for no indoor seating My lobster craving was vey well satisfied

Alrik L.

Yelp
Staff were super nice, and lobster was super fresh. Try the Signature Lobster Roll, it is very good.

Yelp
Came to visit Granville island for the day and was super excited to visit the market stalls and grab a bite here before my friends and bf hit up our next destination. The lobster man was on our bucket list as I really wanted to eat a lobster roll. This place has a little take out shop which you can order food and purchase packaged items. They have a lobster/crab area next door where you can buy live lobsters /crabs/ oysters and other seafood. They also can steam your lobster/crab but only between certain hours which I think is amazing! We ordered the lobster roll and Dungeness crab roll. They both came with kettle chips which were lightly salted. They were absolutely delicious and mouth drooling! Honestly, it was so fresh, the buns were nice and fluffy with succulent pieces of lobster as well as the crab in the crab roll. Could eat these forever and never be sick of it, there were quite a few people ordering it as well. There was a few outdoor seatings on a first come first serve base, other than that there was no in door seating. Definitely plenty of other seating areas around the island and parking as well.
