So this is number four on our lobster journey. We had to drive around for a few minutes to find parking close enough to walk. But this little gem was worth the trouble. Lobster roll was toasted perfectly and loaded with a copious amount of lobster lightly tossed in mayo. What can you say about a fresh Maine lobster roll it was absolutely as expected. Which means it was excellent. The absolute show stopper was the little rice salad concoction made by the owner’s husband. Whatever he did to concoct this dish he did it right. From the very first bite, I was a fan! It was a huge flavor explosion in my mouth, in fact I had to go back and get more! The pickled green beans where fantastic also. So not only is the lobster roll amazing the sides are equally fantastic. Stop by there and grab a lobster roll see what I’m talking about. Tell them Blake sent you! (it’s not like they know who I am anyway!)

Little place tucked away off Main Street that I have overlooked too long. Great food and super friendly staff. My lobster roll was very very good. The side salad was not coleslaw but way better. The pickled green beans were a great addition. Stop in and enjoy.

I was visiting Maine and always love to try new places. Came across this little gem and am so glad I tried it! I was hesitant at first because my last crab roll from Maine had too much Mayo for my liking. I changed my mind from the crab roll to the half and half and it was amazing! I can’t choose which side of the roll I liked better! I savored every bite! The side salad was unique but extra tasty as well! The employees (maybe owners?) were super nice and hard working! I definitely will be back on my next trip!

Super yummy 😋 bang for your buck 💰 I had the crab roll 🦀 as you can see in the pics the crab meat is fresh and plentiful 🤗 & the whole meal was oh sooo good! To have this place right down the road you are definitely spoiled. 😉 Thanks for the great experience. 😊

Google
What a pleasant surprise!! We just went here yesterday, the food was so fresh and delicious. I had the lobster roll which was overflowing and came with chips a very uniquely made original salad, their own pickled green tomatoes and pickle. And a slice of watermelon to top it off. I tried the crab roll and it was so good I ordered one to take home for dinner!! Such a great unique festive little courtyard to eat in. A must try for sure😊

Google
The owner served us after hours and was very nice. The clam chowder was superb, with lots of clams. The crab melt was on a home made whole grain bread, with a big scoop of fresh crabmeat. Served with a mustard pickle, rice salad and big piece of warm cornbread. Superb.

Google
Expensive place. The potion of salmon salad has a few thin pieces of salmon and a the rest of the portion are green leaves which full the rest of the small box. After spending 15$ I left the place feeling hungry. By the end I figure out that the Cheif prepares food with the bare hands. I saw he was taking crab meat without gloves and putting it on the roll. No sure about the masks requirement in the state of Maine, but watching how somebody is trying to mess your salad with the bare dirty fingers is not a good scene. The same person accepts the payment. When I told him about it, he became very rude and offensive replying that he does not have time to talk to me about it. Not recommend just due the high price, small portions and the absence of infection precautions. I reported even to the federal agency.

We stopped dead in our tracks when we saw last Friday's special: hot dogs and HOMEMADE baked beans! Delicious! I can't make homemade baked beans for the life of me so this was a real and rare treat. An added bonus was being able to sit and eat outside on a beautiful day and watch all the comings and goings on Main Street. Thank you!

Carolyn A.

Yelp
This doesn't exist anymore, at least not at the Main St location. Now it's Wiley's, a passable taco and burrito shack, but no seafood to be found.

Jennifer G.

Yelp
Permanently closed - spent 35 min looking for it. Update Yelp -------------/-/--------

Yvonne S.

Yelp
Every time we get friends or family visits from out of town this is the place we take them to enjoy a beautiful day outside and sabor the great food at The Lobster Shack. Highly recommend it

Austin K.

Yelp
Second favorite lobster roll in Maine (other contenders being Eventide, Bite Into Maine, Highroller, Sprague's in that order). Ask for this lobster roll HOT, and they will deliver. The bread doesn't hold up in terms of stability, but still is nice with the hot lobster. This comes with pickled green beans, curry coleslaw, and some chips as well.

Tammy N.

Yelp
Good food and phenomenal hospitality!! We were making a pit stop in the off-season and they were closed but they opened up for us. Cute area, and very friendly. Lobster roll was sooo good and the crab roll even as good or better. Crab RollCrab Roll

Yelp
No longer here. Now called Wiley's. Gave it a go anyway. Lobster roll and fried taters with clam chowder were fantastic!

Jennifer G.

Yelp
We stopped here for lobster rolls after seeing the reviews and having it recommended people we talked to. We couldn't find it the first time we looked because it is set back from a corner on Main Street in the commercial area. Their advertisement says the rolls have 5 ounces of lobster. They definitely do. The lobster roll had so much lobster in it I could not put my mouth around the roll. The lobster was great. It comes with pickled string beans which I had never had before and were very good. The coleslaw is not traditional coleslaw with a slightly sweet mayonnaise dressing. There was ginger in it, which I really liked. The roll was pricey at $20, but it was worth it.

Philip G.

Yelp
Perfect! Great value at $20 for a stuffed lobster roll. Generous sides of coleslaw (great), chips, and watermelon. Friendly servers. Outdoor tables. Perfect if it is sunny and warm. Later in the day we had a more expensive lobster roll at a fancy hotel restaurant. It was terrible by comparison.

E C.

Yelp
Drove 45 min and got here at 2:45pm based on hours from yelp and posted on their building but they're very closed. Cute seating and the property is adorable, but I would call before you go. Parking is hard if the town is busy. Street parking or there seem to be quite a few public lots off of Main Street.

Yelp
This is the best lobster roll I've had in Maine so far! And the rice salad is AMAZING!!! They lightly toss the lobster in mayo and give a very generous portion in each roll.

Marina K.

Yelp
Amazing little spot! The best lobster roll I've had and I've had them all over. All the food is extremely fresh and flavorful. Salt of the earth, friendly, hard-working owners. Super cute little garden in which to enjoy all the deliciousness.

Mark R.

Yelp
Gazpacho, lobster roll and a "half and half" roll (lobstah and crab, chef told they had em first, so there!) 10, 10, 10!

Tricia B.

Yelp
The seating is all outdoors, about five different tables. If memory serves, this location is also cash-only. A bit nippy during the October month, but the food is absolutely worth the wait in the cold! I wish I had another one of their lobster rolls.

Mandy G.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this gem and glad we did! The lobster was amazing and so much of it! We had a nice chat with the owner, nice gentleman too. Highly recommend!

Adam P.

Yelp
I have been to The Lobster Shack two times now, and I've enjoyed my lobster roll every time. The roll is always overflowing with lobster, and it comes with a sides of coleslaw, chips, and watermelon. I did find a couple of a lobster shell pieces in my lobster roll the last time I ate here, so unfortunately I can only give The Lobster Shack three stars.

Anita B.

Yelp
Cute shack run by a couple named Tim and Denise. They work so well together! They give you a choice depending on how you like your lobster rolls - hot or cold, with mayonnaise or with butter. There's a lovely patio full of flowers to enjoy your meal. Chowder was great my friend said! Just go here!

Judy O.

Yelp
This place is great.. best lobster rolls as best cold slaw I've ever had...Denise and Tim do an amazing job

Aruna C.

Yelp
Vegetarians (and frankly all humans): get the black bean soup with cornbread. You will not be disappointed!

Jen R.

Yelp
Ventured to Rockland for some good lobster rolls. Got to the stand past closing time but the owner was kind enough to prepared some lobster rolls while cleaning up. Surprised this place doesn't have more reviews because the lobster rolls were perfect. This place gives 5oz (a good portion) of lobster for a decent price. The lobster tasted fresh with a light coat of mayo in a nicely buttered bread bun. The pickled green beans and vinaigrette side salad were delicious additions to the lobster roll. Brought the food to a little park by the coast to enjoy. Would come again to try the other items on the menu. Worth driving out to get the lobster roll. On a corner of Main Street that sticks out with its decor. Public parking and side street parking available nearby.

Linda J.

Yelp
I'd probably give this place 3-1/2 stars if that was an option. We're spending a month traveling around the Maine coast, sampling lobster rolls wherever we go. We've had several that were better. The lobster was quite tough and the roll was mediocre. I hated the cole slaw, which tasted like vinegar and raw onion. The little piece of watermelon was a nice touch. The melted butter was a strange orangey color and basically tasted like salt. Maybe I should have ordered the chowder. They're very friendly.

C F.

Yelp
Absolutely five glorious stars, I totally enjoyed my lobster roll. It was probably the best I had that trip. Unfortunately my wife's chicken salad sandwich with serving or rather sweet slice of bread, they should offer several different types of bread to suit the customers needs. Other than that this place was definitely fantastic!

Kate M.

Yelp
After seven hours in the car, it was easy to think that anything could taste as delicious as their lobster roll. However, after returning THREE times during the week I was in Maine, I knew it was just amazing in general. I brought my boyfriend back with me the second time and we both agreed it was hands down the best lobster roll ever. Their rice dish was TO DIE FOR. I was tempted to ask for a recipe!! The atmosphere was lovely as well- a very quaint outdoor space with a garden surrounding you. I also adore the couple who runs the place. We showed up one morning and even though they weren't open yet they served us (because who doesn't eat lobster at 10am?). They were friendly and professional! A young boy at the table next to me asked if the fish served had ever been frozen and she proudly said they were not-- which was obvious from the delicious flavor!!! I would highly recommend The Lobster Shack to my closest friends and family!

Nathaniel W.

Yelp
I've spent years looking for the perfect lobster roll, and the Lobster Shack is on my top 5 list. Super fresh lobster meat, not too much mayo, and nice sides including pickled veggies and a carrot grain salad. My daughter got soup and cornbread and my son got a pork sandwich. All delicious and made with care. This is not your ordinary lobster shack, it's The Lobster Shack.

Anri B.

Yelp
Adorable outdoor seating and delicious lobster roll! The coleslaw that came with my lobster roll was also delicious.

Karen T.

Yelp
DELICIOUS crab (generous portion) on Caesar salad. M had clam chowder soup (delicious-lots of clam) and house salad (delicious and unique--it has pickled green beans, sliced red peppers and a unique dressing. Not sure what it is but is delicious).

Molly H.

Yelp
A little on the pricey side, but super generous serving of lobster. The outdoor patio seating is very cute. Everything was homemade, minus the chips. It was like eating lunch in someone's home. This place oozed charm and the small, artsy town of Rockland would be worth a short weekend trip in itself.

Sarah G.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious lobster roll and chowder! Great location, adorable seating area, and cute conversation starter napkins. All around fantastic experience!

Rob S.

Yelp
We were looking for a really good lobster roll, but what we found was phenomenal! The clam chowder and fish chowder were a cut above, served with a wonderful slice of cornbread. The lobster roll was also amazing accompanied with pickled green and wax beans atop a really zesty slaw loaded with ginger and sultanas. Even the home brewed teas rounded out a simply wonderful lunch.

Lana J.

Yelp
We shared a half crab half lobster roll. When the owner saw we were sharing, she brought out my own little basket with some of the slaw! Very unexpected and very much appreciated. My husband enjoyed both halves of the sandwich but I have to say the lobster 1/2 was my favorite. It was delicious. Tghe slaw was really great and tangy. The outdoor seating was pleasant. I would definitely return.

Chris S.

Yelp
Best Lobster Roll of Maine Visited this place as part of the Maine Foodie Tour in Rockland. This was our first Lobster roll and the best of our week long trip. We had lobster rolls at a couple other places including Reds Eats (which was good) just not this good. We ended up leaving Rockland before the Lobster fest got going full steam but this place was awesome.

Joe H.

Yelp
Nice lobster roll...my favorite part was the big handful of potato chips and the rocking asian slaw. Oh yeah, definitely a nice compliment... There is an outdoor seating area...looks more like a small garden @ the corner of Main and Elm...lovely on a warm summer day. I saw some reviews touting The Lobster Shack as "the best lobster roll in Maine"...not in agreement there, but their offering is not too shabby...for sure. I will recommend the shack without reservation, they definitely "rock" in Rockland!

Karen P.

Yelp
Great lobster roll with a lot of lobster and very little mayo. Also a toasted roll. My husband liked the pulled pork sandwich with apple sauce. It was so quaint eating outside under an umbrella with flowers all around. Great start to my vacation.

Allison A.

Yelp
Wonderful service, friendly owners, and a quaint little garden area for eating. The chowders, both seafood and clam, are to die for. Love it!

Adri S.

Yelp
Perfect place for a lunch. Pulled pork sandwich is amazing. It comes with watermelon, coleslaw and homemade bread. Price / food really interesting. Thank you ladies

Carolyn F.

Yelp
Found this place through yelp. There were only two reviews and we weren't sure how good it would really be. It was pretty good. I had the lobster mac and cheese which was the special and came with a side salad with tarragon vinaigrette. My boyfriend got the lobster roll which came with a slaw. Both were decent. The salad was great and my boyfriend says the slaw was also great. The lobster roll looked good although it had a bit more mayo than we would have preferred. The outdoor seating was wonderful as was the woman who owned the place. Definitely worth a stop when in Rockland, ME.

Ian S.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I stopped by for lunch on a whim and man were we glad we did! We split a cup of clam chowder and a lobster roll, and agreed that both were some of the best we'd ever had (and she's a native Rhode Islander). The clam chowder was clearly freshly made and included generous chunks of potato and clam in a light but flavorful broth, and was served with a fantastic chunk of fresh cornbread. We got the lobster roll on the house bread, another excellent choice. The bread was light and soft, yet still hearty and flavorful, and the lobster was absolutely spot on: generous and with just enough mayo to bind it and add a little flavor. The sides were chips, dilly beans (pickled green beans), and some delectable rice salad (contained peanuts). All in all it was a fantastic lunch in a great, relaxed, outdoor setting (local buskers down the street added to the atmosphere). We will certainly come again next time we're in town!

David N.

Yelp
Best lobster roll I've had in Maine so far despite the crazy weather. I dropped my friend off at be bus station and when I came through town the first time, this place looked great. We came back, got cash (cash only), got our food...started eating...and then the skies lit up. I'm sure the owner thought we were crazy....but stayed under the umbrellas. What I will say is that the food was tasty and probably the best seafood chowder I've had with huge chunks of fish and more shellfish than most. Despite the rain, highly recommend it.

Joel G.

Yelp
We ordered a crab roll, clam chowder, and fish chowder. Both chowders came with corn bread. The crab roll was good and tasty. Careful of shell. At least it is real crab. It isn't over seasoned and you can taste the Crab. My only suggestion would be to make it a little bigger. Chowders were simple but good. If you like highly seasoned soup, this isn't for you. The clams were tender and not over cooked. Therer were big pieces of fish. You weren't left wondering where wverything was in the soup. The corn bread was delicious and went very well with both chowders. Not southern corn bread, but very good. Almost like a desert. I would eat here again.

Gib M.

Yelp
Lots of lobster with just the right amount of mayo. Dilly beans were a nice touch. So was the fresh water for our dog.

L K.

Yelp
By far the best crabmeat roll in Maine. Fresh picked by the owner. Also, huge. The roll, not the owner.

Vadim K.

Yelp
We had a reservation somewhere else but when we saw this place, we could not leave. Lobsters were cooked while we waited. The scenery was amazing.

Missy M.

Yelp
OH MY GOSH!!!! I was in Maine for a week on vacation and ate many great meals. This was by far the best!!! I had the crab roll and my friends had either the crab roll or the lobster roll. We all agree this was our best meal on the trip. A bonus was that one of the owners was a South Carolina native!!!

Dan S.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch yesterday and what a pleasant surprise! Great crab roll, and the homemade Asian slaw on the side was to die for. Fish chowder was wonderful as well , and even the homemade ice teas. Cute little courtyard in which to sit and relax, right in the middle of downtown with a slightly funky air, all very affordable. So many great looking things on the blackboard, will have to stop here again next time we're in town!

Lynn S.

Yelp
So we were here for the day from a cruise ship. Had to try this place. We shared a 1/2 lobster and 1/2 crab roll. AMAZING! I travel all over the world and have never had lobster or crab this good. It was lightly dressed, not for of mayo and other stuff you may fund in others rolls. Definitely worth the visit!

Langdon L.

Yelp
Wow, the chowder!! The owner wasn't lying when she said she was known for it. Very cute eatery, but seating might be a struggle on busy days. Between 2 people, 1 chowder and 2 lobster rolls satisfied our hungry bellies. Hope to be in the area again and able to support a local establishment.

Jill M.

Yelp
Cute place. Right on Main Street. Tasty black bean soup (vegetarian, thank you!)and clam chowder, bother served with homemade cornbread ! Lobster Roll ranks right up at the top of the 5 others eaten by my husband this week from York to Bar Harbor! Coleslaw and pickled beans a nice touch and welcome surprise. We will be back.

Kevin F.

Yelp
Came out here with the girlfriend and it was a wonderful experience. The place was cozy , the service was great, and the food was awesome!

Wes C.

Yelp
I got the Bbq pork sandwich but should have gotten the lobster roll. The roll was unacceptable the top was like a brioche but the bottom crumbled when touched. The BBQ meat was North Carolina style, which I don't care for... I liked the sweet Texas style much more.. Plus straying is all outside and on a cold chilly night that is untenable... We ate in our car instead
