17 Royal Family Vacation Resorts From Around the World | Vogue

"An eco‑resort in western Belize, this secluded, jungle‑engulfed property on an organic farm welcomed Prince Harry during the Diamond Jubilee tour; he dined on traditional kak’ik soup, explored ancient Mayan ruins, and slept in a light‑filled Treetop Suite with a private jacuzzi high in the greenery, with staff deeming him friendly, laid‑back, and warm." - Boutayna Chokrane, Andrea Bartz

Our family just spent three days at Chaa Creek, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. Our driver from the airport, who’s been with the resort for nearly 20 years, was kind, professional, and shared so much local knowledge that the drive itself felt like part of the adventure. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with drinks while the staff handled all of our luggage and check-in. We stayed in the Ix Chel Complete Villa, which was absolutely stunning. Having our own private infinity pool, hot tub, and outdoor lounge area overlooking the jungle made it feel like our own peaceful retreat. The villa was beautifully designed with both indoor and outdoor showers and incredibly comfortable bedding. Every meal was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, and the staff was warm and welcoming at every turn. We did multiple horseback rides with Teddy, who was amazing with the horses and full of knowledge about the jungle, and an ATV tour with Walter, who taught us so much about Mayan culture and local history. The grounds are beautifully maintained, preserving the natural jungle while keeping everything pristine and comfortable. Every staff member greeted us with a smile, and many have been there 10–20 years, which says a lot about how special this place is. The concierge team went above and beyond with every request. Chaa Creek is truly unforgettable, and we can’t wait to come back.

Unforgettable experience!!! We can’t say enough amazing things about Chaa Creek! We stayed at The Camp while we were there and had a wonderful experience in the jungle from the howler monkeys, the hike along the Macal River to The Lodge, but mostly Docio’s hospitality! He’s a treasure, we enjoyed the breakfasts and dinners he and his wife prepared, but mostly sharing time and stories around the table was the most fun and we learned so much from talking with Docio! While at Chaa Creek, we went to Xunantunich Ruins with the best guide, Kevlin. We had a great time listening to the history and learning about the ruins. We also had a lot of laughs and will never forget the experience he offered. We also went cave tubing with another great guide, Darren! He showed us so many cool things, like the cave inside the cave, the bat cave and explained the different formations. He was truly a wealth of knowledge. The tubing and swimming were an added bonus beyond the cave exploration. Transportation from the airport to Chaa Creek was seamless and we were greeted by friendly and welcoming people in a beautiful landscape! Highly recommend Chaa Creek, would definitely go back!

This place far exceeds expectations. Even though they say how great they are, they're still being modest. Best 4 days ever. We'll be back for sure. Service is outstanding. Meals are delicious. Tour guides are some of the best I've come across. The property is immaculate. Can't say enough.

Awesome place to stay in Belize. Secluded enough to relax, close enough to hit all the excursions. Customer service was top tier, the rooms were clean, the food was great, and they have a pool and spa!

Seriously a gem. This is a remarkable resort - from their amenities to their staff to their chef - we were wowed! We stayed in a cottage which was beautiful and clean but notably has no AC or fridge. We did not mind the lack of AC (staying in early July) much at all. Cold shower before bed and you’re good to go. The excursions of this resort were amazing. We enjoyed a bird watching tour where we saw countless incredible birds including rufus tail humming birds, red billed pigeon, and woodpeckers. Melvin was an awesome birding guide! We also canoed upstream on the river for a few hours. This was so much fun, especially when we had to canoe upstream through rapids (more of a workout than relaxation but we had the best time doing this). We were able to get out and swim in the river and even got bombarded on the river bank by some Brahma Bulls and cows. We also toured the ATM cave. This experience in itself is a once in a lifetime thing to do and I think it was the coolest thing I’ve ever done! Emil was the best guide I could’ve imagined having for this tour. He truly made the day so special. Thank you Emil! We toured Tikal with Yumi as our guide. She was phenomenal as-well! Chaa Creek’s excursion planning makes crossing the border into Guatemala and having everything you need (lunch, water, cold towels, transport) extremely easy. Takil was an epic experience too! Otherwise, this resort’s accommodative nature and kindness was just so special to me. It was my birthday and they set up a special banner to surprise me at dinner which was so cute. Staff also explained to us in detail how to try to replicate the dishes from the restaurant we enjoyed. Love this resort and experience so much!

An unforgettable family getaway! We just spent the weekend at Chaa Creek with our girls, and it was one of the best family trips we’ve had. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the accommodations were clean, cozy, and just rustic enough to feel like a real jungle escape. We had wondered if it might be hot or uncomfortable since most rooms don’t have A/C but don’t even worry about that. The cool jungle breeze and natural shade kept everything comfortable the entire time. What really stood out was how family-friendly the entire experience was. From the moment we arrived, every staff member was warm, welcoming, and genuinely great with kids. Leo, our tour guide for the butterfly farm and canoe ride, was AMAZING—patient, kind, and so good with our girls. He made such an impression that they insisted he be our guide for horseback riding too. They literally said, “Only if Leo takes us!” 😂 And he did, and once again, he made it awesome. And the horseback riding? Absolutely worth it. My kids had never ridden before, and they did the full two-hour tour completely happy and confident. It was a major highlight of the trip. Big shoutout to Jessie at Concierge too, super helpful and made everything easy. Honestly, everyone we met was wonderful. My little island girls had the time of their lives they survived the jungle, made new memories, and now it’s all they talk about. Chaa Creek really gave us something special, and we’ll definitely be back!

Absolutely stunning! The staff is warm and welcoming, and the grounds are not only breathtaking but thoughtfully designed—worth the visit for that alone. While some areas require a bit of physical ability to access, that’s simply due to the natural terrain of the region. There are plenty of activities for both adults and kids, or you can simply relax and recharge beneath the canopy of one of the world’s most beautiful preserves. It’s your call—but expect to want to come back.
