We loved our stay at The Lodge at River Run and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful, relaxing getaway. We weren’t sure what to expect as we’d heard that the lodge had suffered major damage during hurricane Helene, but as soon as we turned down the driveway, any worries dissipated. The lodge sits right on the river and the sound of the rushing water right outside your room is so soothing. The grounds were just beautiful with newly planted trees, shrubs and flowers. We were told that the landscape will never be what it used to be, but as first-timers, we thought it was gorgeous ! The lodge itself is spacious with big porches overlooking the river. Bobbie, the caretaker, was a delight to sit and chat with. Her breakfasts are out of this world— they tasted as amazing as they looked! We met Danny, the “handyman” of the lodge and discovered that he also offers all kinds of tours ( fishing, wineries, etc) so we’ll definitely take advantage of that on our next visit. The early summer weather was perfect for exploring the area. There is a lot to do close by, but sitting on the porch by the river with a glass of wine might have been our favorite activity!

Wonderful location with stunning views of the river. The Innkeeper, Bobbie, was hospitable, super friendly and made the best breakfasts!! Homemade zucchini bread and blueberry donuts were our favorites. The lodge was very clean and beautifully decorated. We will definitely be back!

My wife and I celebrated our 40th Anniversary with a stay at the Lodge, and it was fantastic. Exactly what you would hope a B&B would be. Great service, attention, and food from Bobbie, beautiful setting next to the river, and the sound of the river was so relaxing. Will need to make this an annual trip!

This is probably our 6th trip to the Lodge at River Run and my first review I have ever written for any place I have stayed... but this place deserves it and it is long overdue! We visit nice B and B's all over the United States but this is one of the finest. Perfect getaway for us as we love hiking, mountains, and having fires at night in a stunning setting. There are great local restaurants and wineries and breweries around too! The innkeeper Bobbie makes breakfasts that should be featured in her own cookbook... the French toast, the amazing cheddar grits, eggs Benedict you name it! She also has so many tips of things to do no matter what your interest. The rooms are super clean and spacious but cozy, we absolutely love our room (heated bathroom floors too). Besides the gorgeous "lodge like" interior, the outside grounds are the icing on the cake. Backing to the Elk River, its so pretty as it is lit with accent lights at night and you listen to the sounds of river and waterfalls as you sit by the big outdoor fire with your favorite drink. Or if you want to just hang at the lodge with your favorite book there is a huge fireplace on the covered back deck and that is such a pleasant way to spend the afternoon as well. There are so many wonderful things about the The Lodge at River Run and I have only mentioned a few, but will leave the rest for your trip to find out on your own adventure, so I don't ruin all the pleasant surprises .... as there will be a few!!!

Our first trip back in 5 years and everything was perfect again!! The hospitality, ambiance, quiet peaceful solitude, and the river running beside the lodge was awesome. Big shout out to Miss Bobbie and her staff. No one does it better! The morning breakfast was beyond amazing. I brought my flyrod and managed to catch and release a very nice rainbow trout. Watched deer in the yard while I fished. Just beautiful.

My husband and I stayed 3 nights in The Cascade Room. Upon arrival we were in awe of how beautiful the lodge was, both inside and outside. My favorite was the outside porch, which was huge, comfortable and most of all relaxing. We had two of our three breakfasts out there. Bobbi, the Innkeeper, is a true delight. She is full of information and wow, can she cook!! We can’t wait to return.

Yelp
The Hidden B&B Gem in Banner Elk (Boone Area), with river access!!! There seems to be a lot of nice places in the area, but this place raises the bar and hits all the marks (and then some), and is close to restaurants and other amenities. We stayed in the Rainbow Trout Room, which was very roomy and the shower and bath was available that of a suite, and the area and river setting is just wonderful and breathtaking. The lodge itself is an architectural wonder, with wooden etched sayings throughout like "Come in as strangers leave as friends", and I felt this is exactly what happened between the hostess (Bobbie), and the owner (Ray), who were very hospitable. Bobbie recommended the Grandfather Mountain excursion (which we got a discount), and let me tell you, this should be on peoples bucket list, especially seeing and walking the mile high bridge and plus the many other amenities. We then ate dinner at the Artisanal Restaurant (which hit every mark as well), then came back to the lodge and lit up the outside fire-pit and drank wine, with the sunset and to the relaxing sound of the flowing river. Anglers beware, they allow you too fish here too, but the unexperienced can book a 4hr fly-fishing lesson through the lodge as well. I just got my little spinner and caught about 16 brownies in a hour-and-a-half. They do stock it with rainbow trout. It is catch and release, but was just added fun to the trip. My wife enjoyed, the complimentary wine and charcuterie at 5, but as well there was a lounge area (big area) attached to our room that had full kitchen, that was stock full of drinks (complimentary as well). With great turn-down service, waking up to an awesome homemade breakfast in the morning wasn't that bad either, lol... If your looking to stay for a huge family trip, business trip, just a getaway or like us for our anniversary, this place is the spot and they will make sure you have a great time for any accommodations. This place should be ranked higher up on Trip advisor, like number one or something, lol.

Yelp
Had a really great meal here while visiting the area. The staff was very friendly and courteous. The drinks were awesome and food was delicious. We enjoyed the bar after dinner and met some really nice people. We will definitely be back on our next visit.

Yelp
It is all a class act. From the lodge, its' accommodations, to the many welcoming places to sit on the verandas or sit by a fire near the river, take a walk on the grounds, enjoy the evening lights on the river to the simple things as the awesome décor and everything your would want in a B & B room and accommodations; it is amazing. The breakfasts prepared by your host, Bobbi (or Chef Bobbi as I call her), are nothing less than gourmet. Visual and taste delights! Evening wine and R & R on the veranda was wonderful as we listened to the river and watched the sun go down. We celebrated an anniversary, but it is a perfect place for a honeymoon or just a time of R & R. It may be expensive, but you get every penny worth. You won't be disappointed.
