I recently stayed at the Lodge at Schroon Lake with a number of friends for a winter overnight. Our room was clean and comfortable and was very large, with a separate living room and sleeping spaces. In room coffee was great in the morning. We ate on property at the Brown Swan which was delicious. All fresh and healthy. Then, we hit the bar and enjoyed drinks with terrific acoustic music. What a fun night! We’ll definitely return for another visit.

I visited the lodge with my partner to scope out the wedding venue. The service was great. The grounds are beautiful. Great place to vacation with the family or with your loved ones. We ended up requesting a contract 24 hours later because we loved the lodge so much. Highly recommend!

My husband and I got caught up in an evening snowstorm and needed to get off the road fast. The Lodge at Schroon Lake was a delightfully unexpected winter wonderland! The front desk staff was warm and welcoming with a hot chocolate and cookie stand in the lobby. Our king bed room was large, clean, and warm. The decorations throughout the lodge and outdoors completed the Hallmark movie feel. The breakfast buffet included complementary pictures with Mr & Mrs Claus. We would absolutely return to better explore everything the Lodge has to offer.

We stayed in one of the chalets, which have two bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room, and kitchenette. For a small fee, we were able to bring our dog. The accommodations were clean and comfortable with lovely amenities (dishes, shampoo, etc.). Very comfortable beds, nice linens. Since it was football season, the big screen TV with ESPN was most welcome. The indoor pool, game room, and workout room were very nice. ||Staff was VERY helpful and everyone we talked to LOVED working there.

We are so glad to have finally gotten here. We planned a trip a few months ago and had to cancel for emergent reasons. The staff was extremely helpful to us during that time. The Lodge at Schroon Lake was the perfect family getaway. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating to our request to have a different room type upon arrival. They are so helpful and understanding to the needs of their guests. We are so excited to come back soon! Thank you for a wonderful trip!

We stayed at the Lodge at Schroon lake to break up a long road trip and it was perfect for one night. A bit more money than a chain hotel but the Lodge featured many more amenities than you might get at the alternative. Big pool, game room and bar area in the main lodge. The hotel was beautifully decorated for the holidays. Great location right across from the water and a short walk into the little Main Street area. And dog friendly! We would stop by in the summer to take advantage of some of the outdoor activities the lodge offer

I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Lodge at Schroon Lake, and it was truly a remarkable experience! The views are absolutely breathtaking—waking up to the serene beauty of the lake was something I’ll never forget. The accommodations were spotless and incredibly comfortable, making it feel like a home away from home. Every detail was thoughtfully considered, and I appreciated the warm, welcoming atmosphere. The food was another highlight! Each meal was delicious, featuring fresh, local ingredients that made dining a true delight. The staff was friendly and attentive, adding to the overall wonderful experience. If you're looking for a peaceful getaway with stunning scenery, great food, and impeccable service, I highly recommend The Lodge at Schroon Lake. I can’t wait to return!

Went to the brown swan for thanksgiving and the food was amazing. They had so many options. They had some very flavorful maple glazed salmon, some very juicy turkey (some of the best I’ve had), and prime rib cooked to perfection. The craned berry sauce was outstanding and packed with flavor. There were also several deserts to choose from. Definitely coming again for thanksgiving next year.

Yelp
We enjoyed our stay at The Lodge at Schroon Lake. The resort itself is beautiful with lots of eye catching details and natural beauty surrounding. Our room was cozy and clean enough, though I do wish the bathroom was a little bit bigger. It felt cramped. I enjoyed the decor and landscaping. You could tell the property is well maintained and cared for. It truly felt like your own cozy cabin nestled in the woods. I also enjoyed how the property was set up allowing you to walk directly to the beach (a very short walk, though you do need to cross a main road) and dining areas. The amenities included such as mini golf, nightly s'mores, fire pits, beach lounge chairs, pool, gym, and game room helped to enhance our stay. We took advantage of the s'mores every night. All of those good things being said, the location itself leaves you wanting more. The town of Schroon lake is very quiet and pretty, but compared to other Adirondack locations (old forge for example) there isn't much to do. We had fun at the beach and pool but after a bit we wanted more and found ourselves unsure of where to go. It would be nice if the hotel had pamphlets of local attractions on site to look over. Overall, I am happy we made our visit but I am not sure we would return.

Yelp
Stopped here on our way to Canada - and this lovely campground did not disappoint. Great beautiful grounds with a few fire pits to enjoy, a lake across the street and spacious room. We stayed for just one night but I could see how this might be a wonderful week vacation with kids.

Yelp
Delightful! We were really wanting to spend a few days away, at a lake, and to soak in the natural beauty of the Adirondacks. I also wanted to visit Schroon Lake as a bit of nostalgia of my youth and camping in that area. So, when were learned of the opening of the Lodge at site with great history, right on the lake, it was a quick and easy decision. And, it was absolutely wonderful! First of all, the lodge is made up of several buildings on many acres. They have a main building, long house, chalets, private, single room cabins ("Bird's Nests"), etc. There is a restaurant on site (The Brown Swan -- which is the original name of the lodge) that serves, breakfast, lunch, dinner. The restaurant bar opens at 4. There is also a tavern in the main lodge "The Bevy." It is exclusively for guests of the lodge. It is a comfy, casual space for a drink, draught and lite fare enjoying the lobby or poolside. Everything is brand, spanking new as they just opened a little over a month ago. The decor is refined, comfy Adirondack. Our room was spacious and well- appointed. It had a Keurig coffee maker and coffee in room. We requested a mini fridge (for our drinks, snacks that we would take to lay by the lake.) Speaking of the lake .... Schroon Lake is beautiful. There is very little boat traffic on the lake so it's very peaceful. The Lodge has a private beach for guests that is very nice. There is a large deck to relax and sun with lounge chairs, Adirondack rockers, cafe tables and seating. You can rent kayaks or paddleboards but, we were there to swim and we did. The water was spectacular. The Lodge staff were ALL courteous, service-oriented, and went above and beyond to make sure everything was good about our stay. They provide you with a text # to let them if all is right, if you need anything which is very convenient. They might also text you to let you know about events happening at the Lodge. The Lodge has only been opened for a little over a month now and it is very impressive in its debut first weeks. In the evening they have two fire pits - one is gas, the other is wood. Very nice to sit by with drink in hand. There is a very nice indoor pool, a game room with pool tables, air hockey, and foosball. There is a miniature golf course, volleyball court, basketball/pickleball court. And, if you are in the mood for an easy change of scenery, the Lodge is located right on Rt 9 and is an easy 5 minute walk to the Town of Schroon Lake where there are shops, taverns, pizza, Stewart's ice cream/convenience/gas, pharmacy, a small movie theater(!) and even a public beach where there is a boathouse where you can enjoy an evening of free live music throughout the summer. There are several hiking trails within short drive. Not a lake day? Maybe rainy? in luck: you're only a half hour's drive from the original Star Trek Original Series set and historic Fort Ticonderoga -- they are both located in Ticonderoga, NY and are about 5 minutes apart. Each site offers really fun and interesting tours that are enjoyable to people of all ages. We had a fabulous time and really look forward to staying again. The Lodge at Schroon Lake is our new favorite place to stay in the 'dacks. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Excellent! There is little more you can say about Lodge at Schroom Lake. We just returned from our stay at the Whiteface Chalet with our small dog (there is a pet fee, but we didn't care). Yes, the Chalets were clean, nice, and modern. We could stay there for a month or the whole summer and when we return the Chalet will be our choice. The other rooms were nice and just as pictured. Public areas are clean and relaxing and step back into history. We loved the outdoor minigolf, basketball, pickleball, soccer field, and fire pit gatherings. There is a large indoor pool area and a large dock/deck area and a beach. From the moment of pulling into their entry driveway and up the hill you sense the nostalgicness of an Adirondack Resort. Nice work to all those there who made the stay pleasant and revived this resort. (hint: Reserve a pontoon boat from them early as they only have a few)

Yelp
We just stayed here, it was the old Word of life inn, these folks have done quite an amazing renovation. Clean, spacious rooms. Much of the old character with a new flair. I'd highly recommend if your in the Schroon lake area. Will be back next time we're in town.

Yelp
We stayed here from July 24-26. The grounds are very nice and our room was clean. The service was horrendous. Front desk people won't even greet you or look up. Asked for toilet paper and water since our room was out. Never got it. Ordered lunch from the brown swan to go, all four orders were incorrect and our appetizer missing. No towels at the pool. No instructions or help getting to our room, which took us 15 min to find. Brown swan manger promised to refund part of the bill - never happened. And good luck getting ahold of anyone they never ever answer the phone or emails.

Yelp
Wonderful facility with lots to do on premise - mini golf, games, campfire, indoor pool, beach, rental kayaks and paddle board. Food at Black Swan excellent. Service , especially international students studying hospitality, did great job - friendly and accommodating. Rooms clean and comfortable. Shower needs place to put toiletries. Overall outstanding.

Yelp
My family stayed here for two nights, and it was completely overrated. Over an hour just to check-in, no pool staff and not nearly enough towels, no vending machine or any in-house food options, some rooms were not accessible by elevator, terrible dirt and gravel parking lot, rundown overall, and I even cut myself on a shard of glass in the bathroom floor. Will never stay again.

Yelp
Note: This review is only for the Brown Swan Restaurant & Tavern. Our first visit to the new Brown Swan Restaurant & Tavern at The Lodge @ Schroon Lake was on Sun July 2, 2023. We made a reservation for 11 people at 5:30pm. I need to point out that this was the resort's first big holiday, 4th of July, and just recently reopened to the public. And an exceptionally talented local bad with a very enthusiastic following was performing this evening. The McKrell's concert was moved indoors due to impending thunderstorms. These two factors contributed to a huge turnout of guests, locals, & band followers to The Lodge. It's a credit to the staff to meet the needs of so many guests on this holiday weekend. Our party met for one drink at the spacious tavern. The decor recalls the history surrounding the original Brown Swan Club circa 1917. Most recently this property was the Word of Life religious resort. Now on to our dinner celebrating an old friend's birthday. We had a big table (#25) in the spacious dining room high on the hill overlooking Schroon Lake. There is also a covered porch for al fresco drinks & dining. Eleven is a big party for anyone to handle. I had two observations as to why this went smoothly. First, the manager was on hand throughout the dinner assisting & directing is novice staff. Secondly, it was smart to offer a limited menu so the kitchen could do everything well & promptly. The menu offers 5 shareables ($13-28 large charcuterie board), 2 salads ($12, +more for protein), 7 alarm chili w/ beef or vegan ($10/9), 3 handables ($16-20) & 7 entrees ($17-veg pasta-$50-bone-in NY Strip steak). The high praise from our group was for the Juicy Lucy loaded beef burger ($19) & Zapp's Voodoo Chip encrusted chicken sandwich ($17). Both served w/ french fries. Tasty, big, sloopy sandos. Five of us had the very large pork schnitzel w/spaetzle ($19). We all agreed that this could have been a much better dish. The cutlet was very dry due to it being too thick to pan fry quickly. And why is gravy an extra $4.? Schnitzel should always be offered w/ gravy as a no-charge option. And no lemon in sight. Can't remember what veg side was served w/ this-kraut, slaw? I see on the menu that Jaeger Schnitzel ($24) is now being offered. That could be a very popular meal if prepared well. Our table service was excellent by Tash and the rest of the team members. They also were very helpful when I bought the drinks for another couple not at our table celebrating their anniversary. Service was great. Food was pretty good minus the schnitzel stumble. Fair pricing. Atmosphere & view are Adirondack spectacular. Also hear praise from some family members on their stay that week. at The Lodge. So a pleasant first visit here. Thanks again to the staff. We'll see you again. Nick & Liz, Albany, NY

Yelp
Very nice staff. We stayed at a cabin it was very clean, spacious, and updated. It rained most of the days but there was an indoor pool, basketball court, mini golf, lots of activities, and a game room, kayaks, paddle boards, and places to eat. The only thing is the dock and swimming area is on the other side of the road. Every problem we had they were able to fix. A very good experience.

Yelp
Beautiful, clean, and cozy! The rooms have everything you need: microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker, tv, and hair dryer. My king size bed was heavenly- very comfortable mattress and bedding with down pillows you sink right into. I would definitely return.

Yelp
Who wants to stay at a hotel, that has such poor service, they don't answer their phones or return messages to guests who have made online reservations? This is not a cheap place, our three-day stay was costing us over $1,000 and we were trying to reach someone to ensure that they were aware of an allergy I have. I spoke with one girl, who couldn't seem to grasp what it means that I have a feather allergy and how important it is to not have feather pillows or down blankets. She finally told me that I would need to bring my own bedding. Imagine, stay at their hotel, fork over $1,000 and bring my own bedding? I asked to speak with the hotel manager, was told no one was available. Called back again all different times of the day for 11 days, no one picked up the phone. Left messages, no one returned the messages. Non-existent customer service. Absolutely unacceptable and beyond unprofessional. I wouldn't spend ten cents at this place, let alone $1,000!

Yelp
Let me start off by saying that I contacted the hotel on several occasions trying to address the following issues. I wrote to multiple people, none of whom responded. I booked four rooms at the hotel for a family hiking trip with my brother, son and nephew. Three of us stayed in the Longhouse rooms and one in the Lodge. We had multiple issues which the hotel failed to address: 1. The Longhouse rooms rely on portable heaters for heat. In two of the rooms the heaters did not work. In the third room there was no heater. We had to go to the front desk to get one and when they finally found one, it blew the outlets in the room when they were plugged in and started. My son had to relocate to the Lodge in the middle of the night. 2. We selected the Longhouse rooms, which were more expensive, as they were described as having a kitchenette. While one room had a microwave, and the others had a small refrigerator that barely worked, there were no pots/pans, plates, cutlery, separate sink, and the other amenities you would find in a hotel room advertised as having a kitchenette. Our plans to be able to eat in our rooms before we took off for our early morning hikes and snack could not be realized and it was not worth paying the extra money for theses rooms. 3. On the last day of our stay, we started to see signs that there was going to be a marathon the next morning and the street which we needed to access to leave the hotel was going to be closed. I am a marathon runner and appreciate these type of closures but they are always made with those that are to be impacted fully informed. No one at the hotel ever told us the road was going to be closed and we only found out about it when we saw the road signs. When we inquired at the hotel if we would be able to exit the hotel the front desk had no idea. We had a flight later that day and to make sure we didn't miss it we had to get up early in the morning and leave before the road had closed. Our plans were to stay the extra night so we could relax and have a leisurely departure the next morning after hiking for several days but had to change our plans due to the road closure and lack of information from the hotel. It wasn't worth spending the night there and we would have made other arrangements had we known about the road closures. There were a few other problems we encountered as well. As I mentioned above, I contacted the hotel to discuss these issues and request adjustments to my bill but have yet to receive a response. Ironically they sent me a customer satisfaction survey stating how much they value customer feedback!
