We stayed in a studio cottage and really appreciated the cozy fireplace in December. It made the room feel warm and inviting. The space was private with a spacious bathroom, and housekeeping did a great job throughout our stay. The rooms are starting to show some signs of aging and wear, but overall they were comfortable. The gym was small but had the essentials. I loved that they had two Pelotons; unfortunately, both were broken and in need of some serious attention. Staff across the property was wonderful as they were friendly, helpful, and welcoming. I also appreciated the long communal table in the lobby for getting a little work done, though the chairs were so low that my arms kept falling asleep. Beautiful setup, just not the most practical. The daily lobby wine tasting (included in the resort fee) was a nice touch, and sometimes came with coupons for complimentary or BOGO tastings at local wineries. The location is great, just about a mile from Sonoma Square, and having two on-site restaurant options —Wit & Wisdom —Benicia’s Kitchen was very convenient. Overall, it was a good stay with a few areas that could use a refresh, but plenty of charm and great service.

Excellent stay and experience! We almost didn't book here after reading two recent negative reviews (who actually seemed affiliated with one another). I am so glad we didn't listen to them! It honestly seems as if they stayed somewhere else! This property and its lobby are beautiful! The restaurants: Benicia's Kitchen and Wit and Wisdom are excellent. We consider ourselves "Foodies" and are used to elevated cuisine...they met our expectations! The wine tasting social hour was a nice touch! The room accommodations were lovely, clean, modern, cozy and wonderfully comfortable. We have stayed at many 4 and 5 star Marriott properties and this property met Marriott standards. Finally, the front desk staff was friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. We will definitely stay here again!

We came here for New Years Eve / My Wife's Birthday with our roommate and 2 dogs. The property was very clean and parking was plentiful. It was New Year's so the property was packed but everything still ran smoothly and the shuttle to downtown Sonoma was easy to hail and use (cool EV VW Bus). The front desk manager, Kendall checked us in and made sure we had everything we needed and sent up a few extra towels for us to dry off the dogs. We ran into her later and she was very personable and helpful - great hospitality. The breakfast was excellent at Benicia's Kitchen and the service was perfect despite the volume of guests. We even received a few mimosas on the house. No complaints at this property.

Worn out, shabby rooms for a premium (Xmas/new year) price. The main entrance/ lobby area is quite nice, leading to a sense of bait and switch once you see the rooms. There was trash in our room from the previous guests and the refillable shampoo bottle that is bolted to the wall was broken completely at the neck so there was broken glass in the shower. Carpet and furniture are very very tired. In addition to being shabby, the rooms are not plush enough, and need a very deep clean, (especially for the price). There was so much dust between the bedside tables and bed that I took a double take to see what it was. The wait to get a table for breakfast was ridiculously long every day and although they allow you to make reservations, they don’t honor them so it’s first come first serve. That said, the restaurant staff are lovely, and the location is very convenient. We also had a supposedly private outdoor space that guests and staff would cut through almost daily to the point we had to block it with the outdoor furniture that we could not use due to it being completely saturated after the rain, just to stop people from walking through the space, which, incidentally looks DIRECTLY into the room. Unless you close to e shutters there is exactly zero privacy even from the “private” outdoor space. Really disappointing.

We just spent 3 nights here staying in a cottage. We were in an upstairs cottage. They are great spaces however I would have preferred a lower level with a patio. I will request this next time. Everything else was amazing! The staff were so great and always chatty and helpful. We loved the Eurovan shuttle to the Town Square - made it so easy to go to dinner and enjoy wine. The food in the restaurant was delicious. We had dinner one night and breakfast each day and all meals were incredible. We enjoyed the hot tub - not pool though - too cold outside. We had great workouts in the gym and went to one happy hour wine tasting. We would stay here again in a minute!

We have stayed at this hotel three times. The first two stays were in the lodge rooms during the summer, and both were great experiences. This time we decided to upgrade to a cottage to try the outdoor tub, but I would not recommend the cottage rooms. I’m not sure if we were assigned a bad unit, but the cottage was noticeably less nice than the lodge rooms. There is also very little natural light, and in the winter it feels quite dark inside. We were especially looking forward to using the outdoor tub at night, since there was overhead lighting and a nearby fireplace. Unfortunately, the fireplace was extremely dim and the outdoor lights were not working at all. We contacted the hotel, and maintenance explained that the lights are solar powered and currently not functioning. As a result, it was essentially pitch black outside at night on the patio. If you do choose a cottage, I would recommend planning to use the outdoor tub during the day, as there is no lighting outside at night. Given the setup, some form of lighting would be expected, even for basic safety at night. We also visited the spa, which was fine overall, but it didn’t stand out compared to other spa experiences we’ve had.

We had a great three day stay in one of the cottages. Our room was a tad dated but super clean, cosy and quiet which made for a great night’s sleep. We also got a chance to meet Rusty, the neighborhood cat, who likes to wander over for visits. He was adorable. ||The spa is great and well worth a visit. It has four pools and a super relaxing barrel sauna. We enjoyed breakfast daily and had a great dinner at wit and wisdom. Also appreciated the little extras such as daily wine tastings and passes to Sonoma Fitness which offers great classes.

Overall, we enjoyed our accommodations at the Lodge. However, to consider staying again, points #5 and 6 would need to be addressed first. Pluses 1) Upgrading to a Junior Cottage from a double room with balcony/terrace was a great decision. We had a small sitting area with a fireplace and an outdoor fireplace and seating on the private patio. Well- worth it! 2) The room was well-cleaned. 3) The food at Benicio's was excellent. 4) The availability of a shuttle bus at the hotel to transport guests to the downtown Square and back was fantastic. Disappointments 5) A great disappointment for us was that the self-service wine bar in the lobby was not functioning for our entire stay. So, if you wanted to access the wine bar with its many choices for afternoon or evening, you were out of luck. The only wine options were the restaurant before it closed for the evening or a can of wine purchased at the commissary. 6) We had to request a coffee maker replacement after the first morning. Then, the last morning of our visit with a 5:45am pickup, the coffee maker had no power and the lobby coffee service was not open yet. The angle of the machine plug against the wall and cabinet should be reviewed. We enjoyed our stay and the hotel is definitely worth serious consideration for our next trip to wine country.

Just spent a week at the Lodge and it was wonderful. Service was impeccable, rooms roomy and comfy, with the perfect amount of Sonoma county charm. Food was fantastic, whether it was the onsite restaurant Benicia's kitchen, or Wit and Wisdom. Outdoor grounds are beautiful and relaxing. Only even better ifs: - room service - with a hotel this lovely, the ability to order breakfast/coffee the night before would be fantastic. It's too unpredictable to order the morning of anywhere and having to get ready and go downstairs for coffee works for some but not all - and let's be honest we have all heard the legends about in room coffee machines - a bar or wine bar - the hotel has a wine vending machine instead which is great in theory but does not work. I don't think I've been to a hotel without a bar open till at least 10 or 11 in years. The small bar here closes at 8, meaning oftentimes it's closed by the time groups come back from dinner But again, lovely and those are just my things to take me from a 4 star to a 5!

We stayed at the hotel fora Birthday spa trip, which we loved! We loved our room but I didn't take any pictures of it. We loved the space, decor, bathroom and especially our fire place. I took my daughter swimming in the heated pool and outdoor hot tub/spa. My experience at the spa was amazing. I had it all to myself and would love to go back!!! They also had complementary wine tasting nightly, but we weren't able to take advantage of that during our stay.

Had a complimentary stay here due to an event that I was attending. I didn't really take pictures, but this is an exquisite hotel. Complementary wine tasting which I didn't get to experience because they set up like 40 minutes late, but was cool that it was offered. The lobby area is nice and there are multiple dining options. I wish I would have been able to check out the cottages but I'm sure they were just as nice. They have complimentary bicycles you can use to putt around on instead of driving which is pretty convenient of going around locally. Pool area looked good too with nice loungers. Complimentary 10 times filtered water is available bed side. Fridge in room with decent selection of snack bar items not at egregious prices like most places. Bathroom is big but tub is dangerous and slippery. Before I was even able to put the anti slip thing down I slipped a little in the tub. Older people may also have an issue getting in and out of the tub area.

My stay at the Lodge Marriott in Sonoma was relaxing! From the moment we arrived, we noticed the calming aesthetic--everything was meticulously designed and clean, creating a welcoming and comfortable environment. Being dog-friendly was a huge plus, allowing us to bring our pup along without any hassle. The location is perfect--just a short, scenic drive to the heart of Sonoma and close to everything we wanted to experience. But what really stood out was the customer service. Audra, the Operations Manager, went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. Her warmth and professionalism made us feel truly valued.

I stayed here for a weekend in Sonoma wine country. This hotel is in a good location down the road from Sonoma square and easy access to other places in the area. The staff are amazing with great service and welcoming. The decor is all wine country style with cabins, rooms, a nice pool, gym and a spa on the property. They offer a shuttle ride to the square in case you want to avoid driving. They have bikes for guests to use, happy hour wine tasting, yoga classes and more. I took the yoga class and it was excellent. The pool was clean and a good size for a swim. I'm a Marriott Bonvoy member and this place is a good one they treat members well.

Decided to stay just outside of Napa for a weekend getaway. Picked this hotel due to Bonvoy Marriot points and wanted a relaxing place to stay. Pleasantly surprised by the early check in, our room was ready by 11am! Then upon checking in we were offered an upgraded room which we gladly accepted. We were upgraded to a King Cottage, we liked the privacy but rooms weren't too impressive, but very clean and fireplace a plus. The grounds give you a resort feel, staff very friendly and helpful. We decided to have a no kid vacay away and I'd say this place is more family friendly, made me miss the kiddos. The pool was very heated on a cold January weekend and the complimentary bikes were a nice touch. Complimentary wine tasting in the evening for an hour, staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We didn't get a chance to try the restaurants on site as we had made reservations in Napa for the weekend. There's was plenty of parking, love the option of self parking for no fee. If you want to be outside of Napa this is the perfect spot, but not much to do in Sonoma.

Our suite with fireplace was cozy enough for the cold weather and spacious enough for two adult guests. The check in was smooth and the lobby is beautiful. I got very ill and had to cut my trip short; I very much appreciated their flexibility for an early departure.

Beautiful grounds, well maintained landscaping, walking to your cottage is like walking through someone's garden. Bikes parked outside each cottage, roses as big as my hand. Our room was ready early and was able to park right in front of our room door. Rooms have a small fridge which is always nice, cozy fireplace and patio was perfect. Clean and spacious. Wine tasting 4:30-5:30pm, generous pour and nice lobby area to kick up your feet and enjoy. Staff was very nice and we enjoyed our time.

I stayed at the cottage with a soaking tub and fireplace out back. It was a rainy weekend so I did not get a chance to enjoy that soaking tub but I did enjoy the king bed and fireplace and enormous bathroom. Although the one gripe I had was how there was no divider between the shower and toilet area so that if you took a vigorous shower and splashed about a little more than usual, you'd get water all over the bathroom. Other than that, I loved the isolated feel of the cottage, the proximity to Sonoma Square and the convenience mart across the street. I brought a cigar, some port and fancy chocolates to enjoy in the smoking area by the giant oak tree. I will definitely return to partake of their complimentary happy hour.

It's an okay hotel. It's quaint inside and they serve coffee, water and some light refreshments during the day. There is also a daily wine tasting at 4:30-5:30pm. The staff are all polite. The pool is open long hours from 8am-10pm. I'm However, there is no sound proofing between the walls, so it's very loud. The sheets/beds are gross in that for some reason they do not use duvet covers, instead they sandwich an old dirty comforter between 2 sheets so that it falls out easily. Comforters are usually not washed so I thought this was gross. The pool is freezing and the water temperature was 76, not sure if it was heated when we went end of August

The property is nice with a lot of beautiful flowers and a good layout. The rooms are decent size, but the balconies are tiny. Since the doors open out, we had to rearrange the furniture to get it closed again. It is nice to have a daily maid service, especially since they only give you a minimal amount of towels. The restaurant is pretty good, but table service is just okay. The bar oddly closes at 8:00 PM. Sleep quality is a bit above average. The hotel is reasonably quiet. Location is good.

Missed staying here for Thanksgiving 2022 due to the Rona. So happy we made it back for the long Good Friday weekend. The grounds were less busy when we arrived with it being mid-day Friday but it got busier as more people rolled in for the weekend. We upgraded to a cabin with a patio that has both a fireplace and outdoor large bath which is totally worth it imo. The room was spacious with high ceilings, a comfy king size bed, a large bathroom and indoor fireplace. Favorite feature was hands down the outdoor patio with a tub for two, swing chair, and fireplace. The patio is enclosed for privacy so a late night and early morning baths were both perfectly cozy and relaxing. Highly recommend for a special occasion or date weekend. Pros: Beautiful grounds, excellent spa, cabins are worth the upgrade if you opt for the outdoor patio with a tub. Cons: NA

This is a very nice hotel that has everything you need. Good service, nicely kept room (#1621), and a good restaurant. Only knocked it a star for location. Nothing the hotel did wrong, just not an ideal surrounding area especially with the transformer station right next door.

You have to be a special kind of special to complain about this place. I'm a veteran business traveler, luxury hotel enthusiast, lifetime platinum Bonvoy, blah blah blah. I don't throw out five stars because I simply had a good time. It went like this: I stayed here on a Sunday night so my wife and I could wake up at the Lodge on my birthday Monday morning. We only live an hour away, so this was a staycation, and a much needed night away from life. I arrive, and the car port and valet are nicely landscaped, valet friendly and snappy with service. Walk into the lobby and it's nice. Not luxurious, but very nice and consistent with their identity as a lodge. But nice seating, two kinds of infused water for anyone who strolls in, and a front desk fully staffed (boy do I appreciate seeing more than one front desk person at 3-4pm). The front desk person is warm, friendly, and professional, but not stiff or robotic. So far, so good I'm thinking. Per Marriotts own policy that often doesn't get exercised by hotel staffs, I'm immediately upgraded from my main hotel room to a cottage on the grounds. Nice. Half bottle of wine as a bday gift, VERY nice. Two hand written cards - one thanking me for being platinum, one wishing my happy birthday. Still at the front desk. Now she pulls out a color map of the property, uses her finger to give me an overview, and shows me exactly where to park for a short but beautiful walk to our cottage. I was very impressed and tipped accordingly (everyone should when they receive front desk service like this). The cottages aren't stand alone. For the few people who complained about this in their reviews, try actually reading about the place you're staying at. It makes clear that the cottages are basically quadplexes, with two rooms on the bottom floor and two above. We were on the top floor and had a large balcony, with furniture to sit at. The cottage rooms are large with a big TV, sitting area, comfortable bed, and remodeled modern bathroom. And each cottage has two cute bikes sitting out front, available for the guest to use. Nice. To me what really makes this place shine (beyond the people working there) are the grounds. Booking a cottage is worth just the walk to and from, the grounds are gorgeous. The paved walkways wind through manicured lawn, rose bushes, trees, etc, with massive hammocks sprinkled all around (they are SO comfortable). At night it's like something out of a Netflix romcom, I mean they really got it right. We had dinner at Wit & Wisdom and the walk back to our cottage was one of our favorite parts of the stay. We walked under arbors of flowering plants vine things, with many twinkling lanterns hanging above. Just awesome. A few other highlights: they say they have a "shuttle" to drive you the 1.1 miles to the Sonoma square. That "shuttle" is a brand new Escalade that valet will personally drive you to the square and back. The restaurant Wit & Wisdom is fantastic. It's a high end restaurant, so know that before going. If that's not your thing, there's also a more casual restaurant on site. The pool scene is beautiful, as is the fire pit scene once the sun goes down and the pool closes. The pictures on the website are nice, but it's even better in person. Directly across the street is Broadway market for anything you may need. So there you have it. I think my favorite thing about staying here was, we felt like we were in our own little world. The grounds are gorgeous, you can't hear traffic, and the lush trees and landscaping really make you feel like you're away from the world, but it's also just a short walk (or luxurious ride in the new Escalade) away. Thanks Lodge at Sonoma, we'll be back, and soon.

Nice family hotel on a higher level. Clean, comfortable rooms with nice facilities. We all enjoyed our stay. Marriott keep doing an amazing job!

This place use to be awesome and we have enjoyed the experience in the past. During our last trip it was hot, over 100 and our AC was broken and the room was 94 unpon checkin. When I asked for a new room they said "there is nothing I can do. Would you like to check out"? The pool was murky, food was bad, and the service was bad and the room had ants. For a place that advertises a luxury experience, the only thing luxurious is the website.

Let me start off by saying this, the facilities and the staff are all very wonderful and well intentioned. For a little background I live about an hour away and this was a staycation after a car rally. Given the price and amenities I wasn't expecting the amount of families and kids: Being a father of three kids aren't necessarily an issue but somehow being a recent empty nester this hotel rubbed me the wrong way. The "cottages" this property offers are like mini bungalows spread throughout 1/2 of the property. Thus making it extremely attractive for large family reunions and weddings etc. As a guest that was just there with my wife looking for a relaxing stay it was anything but. Expect a thousand kids and parents at the pool and the noise associated. I am not trying to bash this hotel but I think after looking at the website VS what the reality is...an expensive Holiday Inn than I start to get a little pissed. This is a "family" resort that offers wine tasting at 5:30 for the parents so they feel free to do what they want. I totally get it, but be forewarned. This is not a place you want to stay for a relaxing night with your SO. I know this sounds super grumpy but at the price it isn't, and the reality vs. the website is stark.

This was such a great place to stay! Spa onsite, restaurants onsite, daily wine tasting, shuttle, walkable places! While they serve coffee daily, my husband and I wanted to get a morning walk in, so we walked to Smasted Coffee every morning. Made it easy to get some steps, Vitamin D, and more importantly espresso. The rooms were very clean, they had water everywhere and in your rooms, which we found very convenient and took full advantage. We even used the gym to work off that wine we drank. The restaurants onsite were also great for breakfast and lunch (we ate offsite for dinner), including bottomless mimosas. The service was great and clean in the restaurants and overall service of the hotel. Our room was perfect with a fireplace and couch when we just wanted to chill. Great, relaxing spot!

It would have been five stars but our first night they said there was a busted pipe and they had to set us up at a different Marriott hotel 25 minutes away, which was terrible. So, we only had one night here but the bungalow was really nice. The rooms are spacious and the bed is really comfortable. There is a tiny backyard with your own fireplace surrounded by beautiful plants. I really liked it here and the staff are very nice. I would definitely come back to stay again.

This was our first time staying at The Lodge and we can't wait to return! We were greeted so warmly upon arrival - the Bellman opened the door for us with a big smile and hello and all 3 at the front desk said a big hello immediately upon entry. Heidi checked us in and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Thank you so much, Heidi and team! Our upper floor cottage was lovely. It was set towards the back with an easy walk to the spa, pool and lobby. Parking was easy and complimentary. Breakfast (sunday brunch for us) at Benicia's Kitchen was outstanding. We have not experienced a breakfast this delicious in years. We eat out all the time so this is a BIG statement for us. The chilaquiles were the best we have ever had - with the tostada chips crisped and crunchy and yet flavorful all at the same time. The eggs benedict - I asked for the artichoke spinach version but with ham added - and it was spectacular. The chef has her/his game ON! Service was the only downside to the breakfast - our server was/is obviously new and learning. Daniel came to the rescue and graciously helped us and make the delish breakfast even more incredible. Thank you Daniel! You are a gem and set the bar for incredible client service and making your guests feel so special. We can't wait to return!

We had a very nice two night stay here. Spacious room with comfy beds and a nice balcony overlooking the courtyard. I loved the outdoor fire pit with rocking chairs! Included in the resort fee: - Wine tastings daily in the lobby from 4-5pm. - Bikes available too. Be careful if you indulge in the wine tastings and then attempt to ride the bikes! - Gym: small, but had everything we needed. - Shuttle to the square (certain times of the day). The only bummer was the spa (Raindance) is currently closed for renovations for two months. One of the staff told me they would have a temporary tent for services beginning the second week of February 2022, so we missed it by a week. Darn...next time!

We loved our stay at the Lodge Sonoma. The place is gorgeous. Their banquet facilities were beautiful. The food was amazing. Everything is worth every penny. Their rooms are very spacious with a living room and fireplace. It even has a patio. If you can, upgrade to an inside room so your view is not the street. The bedding is so nice and soft. The pillows are fluffy just how I like it. The bathroom is also spacious. I love the room decor. Everything about it made our stay enjoyable.

This Hotel would not accept a gift card that was given to my husband for his 75th. birthday. The room was paid for on my credit card and they were also paid for the gift card, so the Marriott was paid twice and I am stuck with a gift card. I tried several times to rectify this and was pretty much told too bad there is nothing we cand do. Terrible customer service, I am really dissappointed in the Marriott.

This place is cute, but the staff and the business itself is just terrible. The staff show no effort to welcome you or make your stay enjoyable. Apparently, Wit & Wisdom is connected with the Lodge, with double charging you, both at the restaurant and when you check out at the Lodge. My husband paid for the dinner with his credit card but when we came to check out at the Autograph Lodge my card was charged as well (and even a higher amount!). We tried to explain to the receptionist at the hotel and she told us, "there's nothing I can do," without trying to make an effort or any service recovery. I can see what the other reviews mean with this place's terrible staff. I can't believe a cheating business can run like this (well I guess they can since they overcharge you). If you stayed here and ate at Wit & Wisdom, please check your statements!

Highly recommended Looking to relax in the wine country? Variety of spa services offered or you can just chill at the pool and pop bottles. Made reservations for massages. I want to give a shout out to the gal who accommodated me by keeping me posted with cancelations. I booked our appointments about a month ago and last minute one of the massage therapist had an emergency. Anyhoot Mike was my massage therapist, and I'd like to say I was extremely pleased with the pressure points. My bf enjoyed his massage as well. I will totally come back and have a spa day very soon. Thank you

The room was dated and dark inside, with no view, and no utensils or microwave (you can request) despite being called a cottage suite. It is not a standalone cottage, it's a bunch of rooms in each cottage. The "balcony" is a shared entryway with another room you walk past. After I came home, I noticed bug bites on my arm. The spa pools were very dirty with leaves and bugs all in them & offered nothing different than the publicly available (free) hotel pool area, except for the sauna room. The hot tubs were lukewarm. There is no cold plunge. There is no discount at the spa for staying at the hotel. The only point of value was the free wine tasting at 4pm daily which was nice. Wit & Wisdom was a really nice attached restaurant. (Tavern set menu was nice - except the Bavette steak, which was unevenly cooked and tough). The public pool area also seemed well kept albeit minimal (actually much cleaner than the expensive spa). Overall though - incredibly costly and overpriced for a mediocre experience. Skip the spa. Skip the stay. Consider Wit & Wisdom, if you are in the area for food?

I can only speak to the rock lodge event space. I did not stay there. I recently went to a funeral / celebration of life service that was hosted there. It was really nice. they had a convenient kids area adjacent to the service, which made things easy. The bar service was prompt and courteous. the space was really nice. they supplied some nice tables and AV service (mic and video and speakers). the staff was super nice and attentive.

Super hospitable and kind! Greeeeat drinks as well. I got the banana nut old fashion. Fabio made it PERFECT!

AWESOME time at Benicia's Kitchen!!! Went there for a wine tasting and stayed for the nachos! The tasting was great. Now... to the nachos..YUM. Megan, the chef, treats you to spectacular ingredients. Daniel gave great service . The queso was freshly made and soooo delicious. The outstanding layering allowed you to experience the total taste without one ingredient overwhelming another. I actually managed to take a pix before I devoured it all! Thanks to Megan and Daniel H for a wonderful start to a culinary (and golf) week. We will be back and soon for the wonderful service and food!

Very nice resort. Much nicer than the Napa Marriott which we stayed at also recently, although that one might be better for kids, and this one is better for couples. Marriott elites get a breakfast credit in the restaurant which was quite nice. Rooms were well appointed and I don't recall any cleanliness issues. Beds were comfortable, and there's a gas fireplace. Only issue is if its raining, you will get wet navigating to your room as the place is rather spread out. Location is great. Few minutes from the town square.

This is a very generous 3 stars for a property that should be 5 stars. Grounds and rooms are nice. Staff was present. That is to say they weren't warm or friendly, but not rude either. Slightly apathetic I guess would best describe it. We never once had anyone say hello or acknowledge us unless we initiated. They have the strangest open days/hours for restaurants. You almost need an advanced degree in Excel spreadsheets to plan options. Breakfast is a deal where you order at the counter and are given a number for table delivery. I'm never a fan of that, especially at the prices charged BUT the crew behind the registers were easily the friendliest we encountered on property. The food was very good with chilquilles being excellent. 3 times I opted for them and the only issue was inconsistency with portions. Never the same. The real disaster was the pool area. Absolutely disgusting with nobody picking up after themselves and the staff not doing anything about it. Case in point I've added a pic of. A group got a bottle of champagne and opened and drank it in the pool. They then left it when they were done and it sat there for at LEAST 4 hours while food runners walked by ignoring it. At one point, we took a bathroom break and grabbed a couple of drinks. Maybe 20-25 mins. We came back to our chairs where some people had left their trash and food trays for us. Seriously low class. The final complaint but certainly not the complete list of issues was the hot tub. We spent 4 hours at the pool and thee last 3 hours there were 4 kids under 7 that were in there the entire time. Screaming doing cannonballs and making sure nobody could use it. We weren't interested but a few others definitely were thwarted. If it was a low rent place I could forgive some of this. A bit, anyway. But it's premium pricing and completely unacceptable. They have some work to do with staffing and training because it just doesn't match realistic expectations.

Rooms are not in great condition and dirty. Be cautious you might get scabies or bed bugs dude to room cleanliness.

The property is beautiful.. the people that work here are wonderful.. they work hard but working hard at a property with rooms and cottages that really require an overhaul is really hard work, I would imagine!! Things probably break down all the time or don't work to begin with!! For a property this size I was disappointed in the size and quality of the gym. In today's world I think it's important to offer a place where people can enjoy working out safely and not feel claustrophobic. It doesn't look at all like the pictures that are advertised. The food is good and I never had a problem with the service.. Actually I would like to mention Edwin who heads up the restaurant at the Lodge.. he is such a great guy.. so kind, so sweet and you can see how his staff respects him.. it's so nice to see...My husband and I came here for two weeks and my son, his wife, and their kids came regularly from San Rafael and we enjoyed sitting around the pool area, swimming, and of course snacking, having popcorn, and delicious drinks all afternoon and one night they stayed and joined us for dinner at the wonderful Michael Mina restaurant on property called Wit and Wisdom where we had a casual dinner outside.. that was the best of the best!!! We'll go back and stay there again in spite of the unfortunate unkept property because sometimes it's the people that make the most out of best memories!!!

horrible experience bed bug infestation in room hotel is aware did not show any concern or offer apology they did offer different room. excruciating pain and misery with over 87 bites all over body from head to toes. The room was not clean and the shower was broken. Do not Stay here.

Absolutely STUNNING pool + property. Staff could be improved. Julia at the front desk was especially less than kind or helpful. The concierge Laurie was exceptional and kind! She helped us get on track with a few wineries as we were winging it. We were in the best suite available and it was great. Cleanliness was 10/10. Their wine machine was a disappointment... PRO TIP: everything in Sonoma/Napa area closes at 9pm. EAT BEFORE 9pm or you will be ordering Taco Bell lol...

This was my first visit. The bed was comfortable. The atmosphere was elegant. The bartender was top notch and a good multi tasker. I was very disappointed on the sign announcing all the fun amenities. Pastries in morning 7am to 11. When I got there at 7: 45am they were all gone. I was told first come first serve. The complimentary lavender sachets to make your own were also missing. One big bowl of lavender and all the silk bags were gone. During the evening when I was trying to sleep an infant crying woke me up twice. My suggestion is family units should be in cottages not next door to singles.

So much of a stay at a hotel is framed by your first interaction with the people working at the resort. The front desk person who helped me seemed uninterested in the job, which is fine, but the impact to the people paying to stay there is felt. There was no desire to talk about the property when my wife asked, she was handed a sheet "it's all on there". I used points as a get away with my wife. When laying the same card down for incidentals I was pretty shocked when it was declined (photo attached). I was pretty frustrated with my credit card provider, they knew I was coming. Whatever life goes on... the person at the front desk swiped the card a few more times. Didn't work, while I called Chase my wife grabbed a different card, declined, next card finally went through. What did the first two cards have in common? They were Chipped cards, they can't be swiped. After 15 minutes on with chase fraud team they notified me that there was no hold on my card, that when the card is swiped not inserted it triggers a failed transaction since that's how people who steal cards would recreate them. The chip much harder to rip off. Makes sense. We head back to the front desk to switch back out the cards and share the "why" with the front desk who had mentioned "it had been happened a lot today". When I told her chase said it was because the card was swiped not inserted she let me know she didn't think that was the case. That a card just like mine worked earlier.... Seemed like an odd hill to die on, so I just moved on but it left a terrible taste in my mouth. I just spent 15 minutes with the manufacturer of the credit card who told me why it would happen, and the person who had been having that problem all day told me that was unlikely the cause. The service industry isn't easy, my wife and I both have worked it, but it's also the most important part of the good being sold. "An experience", unfortunately we're still here for two more nights and that single interaction will keep us from coming back. Maybe over indexing on it, but that's how commerce works, it's not cheap to get a cottage at the lodge. So for our next trip, it won't be here.

Thank you to Heidi for prearranging our stay! I just called and she was able to link our reservations for 2 nights and our other one night reservation for a feather free room. I will continue this review once we enjoy our stay.

Stayed here for a weekend and wedding. The wedding venue areas were so nice. The courtyard for the wedding to the bocce ball swing area for cocktail hour to the indoor space for dancing and cake. We had a junior suite. It was smaller than expected. The photos made it look bigger. Bathroom was nice and had a private outdoor patio. The hotel grounds have a lot to do from games to rocking chairs. Wine and beer to buy as well as a dispensary and cigars. And a good breakfast place. Two negative unfortunate experiences for me - for the cocktail hour they should probably put the recycling bins/trash that were hidden behind the bushes elsewhere as you could smell it and we had ants in our room. They did quickly address it by spraying ammonia around the room. I appreciate how close this place is to downtown Sonoma and they had bikes and helmets you could use to bike to town or wherever.

Comfortable rooms. East access to the pool and the wine happy hour is also a huge plus!

After getting everything sorted out, my husband and I had a wonderful stay at the lodge at Sonoma. We took this vacation via Costco travel and we definitely have not been disappointed. Now let me say the first two days were not very smooth. The young lady who initially checked us in gave us no eye contact and placed us in accommodations that suited her mood. After a six hour flight and 1 1/2 hour trek from San Francisco, I was in no condition to challenge this woman. Unfortunately, she was on the desk the next night. But the next day there was Lily, my angel in disguise. She apologetically said that we should have been placed in a premier room with a fireplace and terrace. So to compensate for the two nights we were in a standard room, Lily arranged for us to have a cottage for the rest of our stay. Wow, what a difference this was...fireplace, outside patio, sofa, walk in shower, personal bikes at the door. Lily was a lifesaver! She is very pleasant, kind and accommodating having absolutely no problem making eye contact with us. THANK YOU LILY! Overall, the Lodge is well kept with two onsite restaurants. Most of the staff are very accommodating. Laurie Noble the Concierge was the best! She booked us reservations at some really nice wine tastings. Plus she is a pleasure to converse with. I would definitely stay here again during warmer weather in order to enjoy some of the outdoor activities.

Forgot to add that coffee isn't served until 8am, which drove my other half mad. Otherwise, I always find a way to make things work.

This place touts itself as an Autograph collection, but it is lacking in service. The pool area is nice but the accommodations feel dark and a bit dated. The grounds are beautiful and the gardens are very well taken care of. The big problem was the service. They say there are complimentary pastries and coffee starting at 8 am for a few hours. At 8:25, there was no sign of pastries. I asked the front desk and they said "oh we had a tray of pastries and it goes quickly". I asked then why not have more trays for all of your guests. For the whole 3 hours of coffee. Instead of just one tray that goes quickly. They said it's first come first served and that's all there is to it. How much does it cost to have more pastries??? The accommodations feel like a lower level lodging anyway (tasteless art, furnishing and lobby not really aesthetic), and most of that kind of lodging at provides breakfast!! Why bother providing it at all then?? The bathroom was nicely updated though.

Overpriced and under serviced. For $800 plus a night I've stayed in much better accommodations at half the cost. And, in better locations. Came here for 3 relaxing nights. Been one problem after another. We were given a room facing the parking lot. If you dare come here, ask for an interior facing room. Felt like I was at an old Holiday Inn (apologies to HI). Room is like a basic low end Marriott for high end resort price. Not a nice neighborhood for resort expectations. Downtown Sonoma requires a complimentary shuttle they do provide. Bathroom is low end quality with only one sink. Not much room for 2 people. This morning housekeeping arrived at 8:35am. Let them know to come back later in the morning. It's now 6:15pm. After 2 calls to the front desk and 2 visits to the front desk someone is servicing our room. Be aware, water from the tap is well water that's highly mineralized. Came out milky. Made my wife sick. Front desk said someone would come look at it. Never heard back. Don't waste your time and money. Go somewhere that they care about you.

I really don't have much to say about this place. I was not impressed at all for this being a lodge. I really wasn't impressed. The food was very very mediocre. If you're not gonna be in your room long, then I guess it's fine but I would not recommend having an event here or anything like that..

When people say go to your happy place, I go to The Lodge at Sonoma Renaissance. I've stayed at my fair share of hotels and B&Bs in the Napa/Sonoma area, but The Lodge at Sonoma Renaissance should be at the top of any bougie hotel list. The elegance, charm, and service are second to none. I don't know about you, but I hate it when a hotel has a beautiful lobby, yet the rooms are very basic. Well, that's not the case here. The rooms are as lovely as the rest of the property. They use a color palette that compliments being in Sonoma. My room had a little balcony and the loveliest windows. They offer complimentary bicycles to ride through neighboring vineyards. In the evening, there's complimentary wine is also offered to hotel guests. This is an experience not to be missed!

Do NOT spend your money here! $800+ for a double room, the beds are full size and too small to fit 2 people comfortably Person at the front desk was terrible The hotel looks like it was built in the cheapest manner possible. Rinky-dinky is the best description to give this place; hotel AND spa. What a waste of money

We came for a work conference, stayed in the cottage and had a fine visit. Hotel is well furnished- bed has soft sheets, bathroom has a shower and large vanity, and small living space/workspace has a large TV screen and fridge. We didn't use the patio due to the rain but appreciated the opportunity (weather permitting) to sit outside. A pair of bicycles and helmets were available at the cottage but we chose not to use them. There are two overpriced restaurants- no surprise given the cost of the hotel -and you need a reservation for the wisdom and wit of you want a table. Overall, would not return for a personal vacation but more than acceptable for a work conference.

We've visited this place a few times, and while the kids enjoy the property, it's the check-in crew at the front lobby that ruins our stay. The front desk staff needs significant training in ethics, customer service, and overall demeanor for working in such a place. From the moment you check in, they give off a negative vibe, making you feel unwelcome. Unfortunately, we've had terrible experiences checking in and out with Natalie twice during our stay there and I must say, it's been an unwelcoming experience that could ruin anyone's stay. Other than the front desk, staff around the property from the bell-man, Benecia kitchen staff, and even maintenance engineer were all very nice and helpful. On that note, we won't be returning to this property.
