We spent several nights on Little Saint Simon island celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. Accommodations were great. Food was exceptional (thank you Doug) and the activities with the naturalists were wonderful. Enjoyed the company of the other guests. Staff couldn’t have been more pleasant and helpful. They all are passionate about the island and what they do. We hope to return in the winter months to hike around the island.

We’re just wrapping up 5 nights in Michael Cottage and this week has truly been special. I can’t say enough good things about the food, activities, quality and care from staff, the other guests, and the wisdom and education we’ve received while here. Some of our highlights include Jake the naturalist building a relationship with our 5-yr old son, seeing turtle nesting tracks on the beach, learning way more about birds than we expected, the pontoon boat excursion in the marsh, biking to the beach every morning, and seeing our son’s curiosity light up on every activity, plus his newfound love for conservation. Cheers to the amazing staff and ownership of LSSI! We will be back, do yourself a favor and book a trip here!

We had such an amazing stay in early March, 2025. From Savannah, The Lodge at LSSI has been on our bucket list for some time. We loved the cottage we were assigned. Had a wonderful cottage mate. Enjoyed our daily nature tours to places of interest on the island. The Nature Staff is so well-informed. In early March, we were thankful for the gloves, hats and jackets we packed. The culinary and service staff did an amazing job with meals. Family-style meal seating allows guests to mingle over fine meals. We enjoyed our stay so much, I rebooked the same suite for March, 2026. Note to Mgmt: consider lowering the wattage of the bulbs in the dining room or adding dimmer switches that can be set for dinner.

This is an amazing lodge and nature experience. Three wonderful home cooked, farm to table meals a day, comfortable accommodations, and the best of custom service. The naturalists provide as much information as you would like. The staff are extremely helpful and accommodating. The atmosphere is relaxed and fun. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and hope to come back.

Little St. Simon’s Lodge is a special place for people who want to experience an immersive nature trip. The island can only be reached by private ferry boat. Multiple daily activities led by very knowledgeable resident naturalists keep you busy. Three meals a day served family style provide you the opportunity to meet your fellow island guests. Some of the most beautiful sunsets imaginable and trip to miles long deserted beach where you can bike on the sand were highlights. The accommodations were rustic but comfortable. Food could use a little upgrade but generally ok. We plan to return!

This place is truly paradise on Earth—a beautifully preserved, naturally untouched island. It's a celebration of nature in all its glory, from the birds and fish to the insects, alligators, frogs, armadillos, and more. If you're fortunate, you can encounter them all. The long stretch of Atlantic Beach offers a perfect view for spotting dolphins and whales, which we were lucky to see nearly every time we biked or walked along the shore. The scenery is stunning at low tide as well. The sunsets are unforgettable, each one unique, capturing its own character and charm. It’s easily one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever witnessed. The naturalists on-site were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about their work. Their love for the island made them truly special. The food was a delightful adventure, with each meal offering a surprise—exciting and delicious every time. This experience is a rare chance to step back in time and reconnect with nature. It's undoubtedly one of my favorite islands.

Little St Simons Island is a charming island off the coast of Georgia where the owners have made every effort to return it to its natural ecology. Days are filled with trips led by naturalists who focus on the environment, wildlife, especially birds and tortoises. Quarters are very charming and comfortable. The food is plentiful and excellent.

If you're expecting a luxury resort, this is not for you. The accommodations are nice but rustic. Meals were plentiful and good, but not gourmet. Likewise, the beer and wine were good, but not great. There's an excellent group of naturalists who are eager to share their knowledge and experience with you. Daily activities were interesting. The best part was the other guests who were there. We enjoyed our stay, but once was enough.

Yelp
This review is based on two visits -- 2019 and 2020. Here's the summary ... The good news: 1. Extraordinary food. Simply the best. 2. Very nice and helpful employees -- from Chef Mike to maintenance fellow John. Really good people. 3. Beautiful environment 4. There is a lot to do. Well, the less than wonderful: 1. During our second visit our room was quite dirty, the floors in particular. 2. The bugs. Ooooh. The bugs. They'll carry you away. 3. While the prices are fair, particularly given the cost of running such an enterprise on an island -- the fees and taxes are really nasty.

Yelp
Can't get on the island without a vaccine or Covid test. No thanks!!!! I'll visit somewhere other than North Korea island.

Yelp
The food here was phenomenal. I was very pleasantly surprised. I was shocked by how well the chefs mastered family style meals. I spent one night on Little St. Simons and loved every minute of it! Super relaxing and lots of fun. For lunch we were served roasted lamb with a delicious pureed sauce, horseradish mashed potatoes, and grilled vegetables. For dinner we started with a great little strawberry salad with gorgonzola. The entree was my absolute favorite- shrimp and grits. The dessert was pecan pie which was so homey and delicious. For breakfast we had my other favorite- eggs benedict which was served with fruit, oatmeal with raisins and cinnamon, and asparagus. I was in heaven!

Yelp
Best dinner we had was at The Lodge's steak house Colt's. Make sure to give it a try and don't miss out on the Banana's Foster prepared at your table. We enjoyed the steaks & salads too.

Yelp
My family just had a reunion on this island. I planned the reunion with the help of Shana and she was so prompt, had great attention to detail and really helped our large group have a fantastic time. The island is beautiful in pictures, but the pictures don't even do it justice. It's a beautiful place and the naturalist guided activities teach about the environment and natural habitat. Special kudos to Nate and Ben, who were so kind and informative. The food is incredible. Chef Ulfet and her team executed every meal to perfection and they even honored our group with some traditional Ukrainian family recipes in celebration of Ukrainian Christmas that we requested. Everything was delicious and Ulfet and her team also honored the vegans and children in our group with alternative choices. REALLY FANTASTIC food! The rooms and lodges were spacious but had a cozy feel. They were quaint but provided some up to date amenities. Everything about our family reunion was so memorable, and the entire staff of the island is to thank. Such nice people, and they paid attention to every detail to make us feel very welcomed.

Yelp
We went for a day trip with a small group from the St Simons Island Sandpipers. We had lunch at The Lodge on Little St Simons Island and it was great. The service was unbelievable. We had tuna served with a great sauce. It was served with olives, asparagus, potatoes, artichoke hearts and boiled eggs.

Yelp
Unbelievable trip with our family of 16 members; this is what the southern east coast looked like to our 17th century ancestors. We had a wonderful time. The Mosquitos were mosquitos but i used the various repellent products supplied at the door of each room and did just fine. I felt cut off (loved it) from our hectic lives back in urban America. I would highly recommend this place; our 4 , 5 and 6 year old boys were in seventh heaven and the adults enjoyed all the naturalists activities especially the hand's on with snakes. I would go for 3-4 days. Then you can get into the pace of the place and say; hmm would i have gotten on a boat from Europe and come here???? Hmmmmm.....

Yelp
Colt's Steakhouse deserves five stars. Excellent food, service and wine. Best meal in all of Georgia. The setting is gorgeous. We were offered a drink outside as the bagpiper played at sunset. Magical!
