The Long Hop

The local beer was very good and fresh. The upstairs was a lot warmer than downstairs. Great atmosphere and service. Very friendly. The only reason why no 5 star is because it is an “English pub” but when I visit they only had French rugby on with not a single screen playing English football.

so chill, so nice, cheap prices, overall a good and pleasant stay. we sat for hours, no one bothered us, we just drank and had fun. will definitely come back. cocktails are good, the long hop beer is good too!

Brilliant spot near Notre Dame – cracking outdoor seating for a bit of people-watching. Their own beer’s a bargain at €7 a pint, and a glass of Sauvignon for just €5! Friendly service, good atmosphere, and the pint tasted spot on. Sport on the telly inside gives it a proper Irish bar vibe. Definitely worth popping in if you’re nearby.

If I could leave 10 stars I would!! Great bar food light easy meals with plenty of good beer options. Great friendly English speeding staff perfect stop on trip to Norte dame.

We have arrived earlier. Staff speaks English. Beer is reasonable. The location privileged. We asked Nachos which we liked. The amount of source could be larger. If you are In Paris I recommend the place.

Fun little place to stop and sit for a minute. It's very common in Europe not to have wait service. You order at the bar, and they bring it to you. It's common knowledge there, but for us, we felt ignored waiting for someone to take the order. The food was not custom. The food was more a heat and eat.

Cool, friendly sports bar with the cheapest beers we had 5€. Was in the neighborhood just in time for Liverpool Vs Everton so popped in to watch the game. Had a few pints and a sharing board of fried foods chips, wings, fish not great but you get what you pay for. TV screens everywhere and a pool table.

Late on a Sunday night, this was the best place to have a cold beer and relax for a few minutes before going back to the hotel. They play all the big sporting events on TVs (including American football!). The long hop beer (French lager) was awesome. Definitely recommend!

While exploring the Notre Dame Cathedral, we noticed there was a pop-up of casual bars and we discovered this London forward pub. Upon waling in we saw it as a bit of a retreat for many British folk. The drink selection was pretty decent and there was plenty of seating. The covered outdoor patio was smoking friendly which many people took advantage of. My fave part was the billiards table that was smack dab in the middle with a few community tables.

Food was disappointing. Service poor. Ambience was okay. Two young girls working could use a course in customer service.

Loved this place. Great chicken burgers and very good poke bowl. The service was SUPER friendly and fast. I'd definitely go back

Hooray for American-style pubs (though more English style) with free wi-fi (unusual) and a bunch of friendly folks. A couple of beers on tap, I had a very large Kronenbourg that only set me back €6. (eek!) Seating outdoors and in. Only a block from Notre Dame, if you're thirsty, this is a good break. Loud music at times, lots of people at times, it's a decent place for a brew and some American accents.

Stopped here for a beer at Happy Hour after shopping. Great location around a lot of shops and restaurants. They have outside seating as well as an open interior. You can order your beers and go sit outside after you pay. Great atmosphere and a pool table as well. They also had a small photo booth that sends you your pictures via email at no charge which was great. Would recommend!

Came in for an FA Cup match and the bartender was very accommodating to not just get me a good TV but to give me audio, despite the fact that I could only afford a 3 euro mango juice. Friendly, warm, accommodating bar, with some (not accidental) good-looking staff :-) Definitely an Anglo/Anglophone hangout spot.

I was recently in Paris on a solo trip and craved some english speaking company. This place did not disappoint! I happened to be there on an earlier time on a weekday so it was that crazy. Prices were fair, and the service is really good. Tatenda (sp? I just know his name rhymes with bartendaaaaa and he in fact, was the bartender) was really cool and he even helped me look up some crazy requests I had (at one point I wanted karaoke, and at another point I was asking about local beers... which, stupid me, the french much prefer their wines). but all in all, fantastic experience and will be back to visit if I'm ever missing home!

Friendly spot! Nice patio out front if you prefer to be outside and take in the view across the street. Also, some great spots to grab food after a night at the pub close by.

From the outside, the Long Hop looks like a rather large but unassuming French bar. Don't let appearances deceive you. The Long Hop is the two-story party space and bar that every American fraternity house wishes it could have. There are wide screen TVs, a beer pong table and a pool table, and dozens of tables in every configuration conceivable (as well as super comfy couches and little armchairs!). The drinks are about average price for Paris. Beer is still the best value (7€/ pint), but simple mixed drinks are only 1 to 1,5€ more. If you're nice to the bartenders (who all speak great English and smile a lot), they give pretty decent pours. We came here with a group of maybe thirty (of course we let them know ahead of time), and they basically gave us the entire second floor. I wouldn't come here for a quiet drink, but in a group, even a small one, I feel like one couldn't help spending a super fun evening.

Free wifi and a big patio. This is a bit of a rant about the quality of beers in Paris rather than a proper review but seriously what's with the Fosters and Carlsberg? Why does Paris loves these beers of failure so much? Long Hop has some other options (in addition to the standard Paris fare of Kronenbourg and Leffe) like...Leffe blonde. I also saw some tins of Bud in their fridge. This is a great patio. It's sunken in from the street and they have lots of chairs and umbrellas. They don't really care if you move things around and it's in a great location. And wifi. That was very convenient for me. Good bathrooms, medium prices on pints but a great patio.

I had the absolute pleasure of going to The Long Hop to watch the Super Bowl this year and was blown away by this heavily packed, American friendly bar. First off, the place will get PACKED for a popular American sporting event, regardless of the time. The Super Bowl was Midnight through 4:30 AM and it was jam packed, regardless of the slaughter. The atmosphere was very friendly and it's one of those bars you meet your best friend in. As far as the drinks go, it's best to order straight from the bar. And be forwarned that the drinks here are not cheap. Pints start at 6 Euro and go up from there. A friend ordered 3 "shots of Jameson that were maybe 1 ounce each (1/3 under the standard shot) and the total was 28 I believe. Crazy. Other than the expensive drinks here, this will make you feel like you're back home in the states if you find yourself abroad in Paris and need some comfort.

Great people watching location with ample outdoor seating near Notre Dame. Beer selection is good, happy hour prices were great relative the location. Bartenders/servers were friendly and attentive. Nice find for any English speaking ex-pat.

Let me take you on a trip down memory lanethe year was 1999. So this review may not be that helpful due to time period during which I frequented this place, but I feel like I need to give a shout out to what was one of my favorite bars when I was studying in ParisThe Long Hop. Known cordially as The Hop, it's an English pub, located in the heart of the Latin Quarter. It catered to English-speaking expats, foreign students, and it was made up a crowd that loved to throw down pints like it was nobody's business. Snippets of soccer (football) matches, dancing, chugging contests, the Super Bowl, and complete insanity are all that remain of my cloudy, drunken memories of this place. Michael was an amazing manager, who would push his patrons out of the way to come greet me every time I came with my friends, and he'd buy me my first pint. You don't find that kind of warmth anywhere. Great English and Irish beers on tap, a huge interior with an upstairs, great DJs, and fun times had by all are what the Hop has to offer.

Good food, great drinks, variety in the menu. Bartenders and servers are nice and prompt!

I used to go here back in the day when I lived in Paris as a kid. The venue is a decent size with some good happy hr offers; unfortunately most of the time it is dead! I recommend it for a NYE venue - for some bizarre reason, it magically turns into a super-venue; with loads of fit people having a great time. In summertime the terrace can be nice. Be prepared to part with EUR7ish for a pint (yes i know! but thats standard paris pub prices) :P

At night, this bar is pretty cool for an American to come to. Their playlist of music is filled with songs familiar to Californians. They do range quite a bit from what era they come from but they mostly are older songs. I've notice that the songs repeat night after night, so i think it's the same playlist on the ipod or something. This is kinda weird, but you can also play beer pong and I've heard they have a beer bong here upon request. Their drinks are descent. They have a student night special of 5€ for cocktails. They're a bit weak, but whatever... One of the great things here though is that the number of creepers is down. My lady friends have gotten the least amount of harassment here compared to other bars and clubs. This is surprising especially when you see a bunch of pretty girls dancing and singing to the music in the bar. But hey.. maybe all the Americans watch out for each other =) If you're homesick for the states... hopefully this bar will help a bit.

I went on a Tuesday night, obviously not the most popular choice but it was pretty slow, just a couple of small groups. I sat at the bar and had a beer, the bartender was fine. It's nothing spectacular, but the plus side being I didn't have to butcher the French language for an hour at a French bar.

Relaxed crowd, fun staff, great prices. Excellent people watching block location with tons of covered outside seating.

Great Irish bar! We watched football here and atmosphere was perfect. Great people, variety of beers and good amount of TVs. Would go again!

The place was packed every time we walked by, so we had to check it out. Very fun atmosphere, the bartenders speak English fluently. Late twenties, early thirties crowd., mix of locals and tourists. The upstairs is fun and they give you chips to munch on if you need a snack. The patio is cool too!

Ask the bartender for the WiFi code. Overall, I think this place is sort of a casual bar that probably gets crowded at night, but I was here for a few drinks on a Sunday during the day. The place was not crowded at all, and we were able to grab seats at the bar. Drink prices are a bit high for the venue but I'm assuming they're more reasonable during happy hour. Bartenders were not too chatty, but didn't ignore me either.

An American pub, which is like an English or Irish pub, but with less old furniture and an American Flag flying out front (quite ballsy, these days). The staff was all from England and I found that I could drop the Je Voudray Bierre, sil'vou plait, pretty quick. The porch has an overhang and some heaters, so it was nice to sit and watch the street while having a good old pint of Guinness. They had a DJ night, but everyone was glued to the screens watching the football (association, not gridiron), so I didn't see the point of them blaring music, but I didn't mind it. The crowd was very easy going and while busy, service was on the spot. So give me stool, a fresh pint, a good breeze and the world can go to hell on it's own for a little while. I'm sure I'll get up after a while and help sort things outs later, but right now, let's just relax. The Long Hop is a good place to do just that.

Are you American or Brit? Do you love American or Brit sports (or, as Brits incorrectly say, "sport"-- those Brits... they are still learning how to speak English ;-) And yet... with all the wonderful things the U.S. and U.K. have to offer... you STILL love Paris more than life itself? Well, then... THIS is the place for you! Extremely friendly staff, wonderful pub food and, late in the evening, a great place to meet someone! One of my favorite local haunts. A "must try."

Everyone who works there is really polite and friendly. I love the atmosphere! Get the house white wine! It's only 4 euro and tastes amazing! Allmost everyone there speaks English.

Popular with English rugby-playing students Popular with English rugby-playing students. If you can ignore that, then it's a good place as the beer's quite cheap. Wear what you want in the daytime, the there's a (fairly liberal) dress code in the evening, when it gets quite crowded.

Very bad service, don't go there A couple of weeks ago the bouncer did not let us in (a group of 2 couples) because my friend had an empty cup in his hand. We threw it in a garbage can on the sidewalk but we were still not allowed to sit down on one of the free terrace tables by this very rude bouncer. I complained to the management by e-mail and it took them three weeks to get back to me with a disrespectful answer.

Its was exactly what they said, bartenders awesome, great place, come for a beer. I came for a drink just to check it out and got a really great surprise, it was the first time I felt just like at home.
